Animatronic Tails update
Posted 13 years agoWell folks
I have finally got some more time in the workshop and progressed futher
I am pretty happy with the current results of the powerplant (servo's batteries) and am currently waiting for some more part tyo arrive. Namely the 4/3A size batteries. 4 of these will power the tail and electronics. These batteries will supply 3500ma at 6v which should last even the most enthusastic suiter for a while.
The underlying controller will be a PicAxe 14m2 or 18m2 depending on how inputs and outputs need. Big decision is how to allow the user to program additional tail sequences.
I have also decided to use winch servo's so I can reduce the size of the main pully but still have the torque needed to swing the tail.
The new design also has some safety features re overload protection and a joint section to allow the tail to be sat on, pulled, and otherwise mistreated without straining the servo's too much.

Digilegs
Posted 13 years agoAs some of you have seen in previous posts I am making a set of digilegs (wetalegs)
I have completed them to my best ability and I am very happy with the results. However I have decided to purchase an original set so I can check on the differences between mine and theirs.
Hopefully in about 3 week I see what the real ones look like.

Stan Winston School
Posted 13 years agoHi Folks.
I am SO excited. Stand Winston school www.stanwinstonschool.com has just put up a new video on creatating an Animatronic Cougar head.
It takes you through all stages from conception of the idea, creating the shell of the head, creating moviable area's and then servos.
Definately a video for anyone who wants to make a expressive fursuit head.

Donate! Help Yukito Get a New Walk in Life!
Posted 13 years agoHI.. A worthy cause I think.
http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/...../#cid:26375476
The monies go towards helping Quaidis's corgi get some wheels and thus run around again. Yukito (the corgi) has a degenerative nerve disease.
The Carts that the comany sells looks great and are custom fitted per dog.
Quaidis only needs enought donations to get $190 as she is paying the rest herself.
Any of my watchers want to help?

Results in from the Tests. Solutions Found
Posted 13 years agoHi Folks
Many thanks for all who have been following this saga.
The tests have finally come back and the simple news is that I am not producing any Testosterone. The last batch of tests should have caused the testes to react and show an increase in testosterone but there was not changed. They essentially flatlines.
For the time I will be having injections just to being me upto normal levels (currently about 3 where I should be 12 or so) and then possibly patches or gel.
It's embarressing in a way. No man want to find that his equipment has failed but still - at least I know what it is.
Hopefully in a couple of weeks I will be feeling much better.

Medical Updates
Posted 13 years agoI spent Friday motning at the pathology lab giving blood evey hour. They injected me with GnRH (I believe) which stimulates the Hyperthall=imus and Pituatry to produce LH and FSH. These are the two hormones that trigger the production of Testosterone.
I actually was feeling more alert in the afternoon which was a good sign.
They should have the results back to the doctor by Tuesday and I'll see the doctor early next week.
Thanks for watching.

Medical Update
Posted 13 years agoAh well - I have just come from the Path lab after a 3 hour round of tests. Hopefully these will point to the underlying cause.
Basically they gave me a injection of a hormone (GnRH) that should have triggered the production os LH and FSH which in turn cause the testes to produce testosterone.
Plus I also got a Tyroid test as that is part of the endochrine chaine
Thyroid -> Hyperthalumus -> Pituatory -> Testes
I'm not sure if it is the relief of getting close to what is happening or that the hormone they gave me is the trigger of one I am particuality low on but I am feeing a bit more alert.
Next Tuesday the doc will get the results and I will see him to find out. Hopefully all bases are covered and they will have the information for a diagnosis and cure.

Medical Updates.
Posted 13 years agoStill getting stuffed around by the Pathology labs. The doctor asked specifically for a GnRH test and they ended up doing an FSH test instead. It's informative but does not point to the underlying issue.
Currently Testosterone is down to 4 (normally 10 - 14), FSH down to 1.2 (normally 14-18) which is leaving me pretty tired, depressed, and fog-minded etc.
Hopefully on Tuesday I will find out where to go for the GnRH.
I was looking at some of my old writings from several years back.. Basically I could not belive that I wrote them - not that they were bad but more that it seemed that they were done by a different person. Someone who could think, laught, had a sense of humor.
Nowadays it feels as if I am trying to think through a fog. I am tired most of the time.
All of the work I did before Midfur I have hardly touched because I am either too tired or it is too difficult to concerntrate on being creative.
Plus work is starting to comment on my lower productivity.
I do so hope that the doctor will find the underlying cause and help cure it. The doctor says once they KNOW what the chemical imbalance is then they can medicate and I will be almost back to new in 2 weeks or so. I only hope so as I cannot continue like this.

Tests, Doctors, and More Tests
Posted 13 years agoHopefully tonight will be the night I find out what is wrong.
For a while now I have been feeling lethargic, very depressed, and with hardly any sexdrive. Evenings I just want to vege out on the couch and on weekends I just want to sleep.
I aw the doc some time back and was told that my testosterone levels were down to 4 (normally they should be up around 10+) It's more than just a suppliment injection as the doc want to know WHY it is so low.
I've found out that he has the last of the lab tests back and I am seeing him tonight to hopefully get an answer.

ARK Project
Posted 13 years agoOften when seeing movies simple things seem to stick out. It does not help that the actor saying the lines is one that I admire greatly (Morgan Freeman).
Sometimes the words can evoke emotion, belief, or even precisely define a long lived feeling or ideal
I also remember a shortlived TV series called 'Stingray' where a fellow would help a person and only ask that when time came to help another that that person contributed. Stingray was never about money.. but skills, abilities etc.
Call it Karma..
One quote from Evan Almighty has been crystalising in my thoughts for a while and so I have adapted it to something that I have been doing for a long time - quietly helping others where I can
God: How do we change the world?
Evan Baxter: One single act of random kindness at a time.
God: [spoken while writing A-R-K on ground with a stick] One Act, of, Random, Kindness.
So.. If you who is reading this is one that I have done an ARK for - all I ask in return is that your help another.
After all - if everybody ARKed then the world would be a nicer place.

Posted 13 years agoOhhhh.. Slow start to the year. After the rush of Midfur and work all I have been wanting to do the past few weekends is to relax if a good book.
Currently working throught the Lisanne Norman Sholan series, plus having found some new books from Larry Niven that cover the pre Ringworld series.
Driving to work I also listen to audiobooks - hey - it stops me from speeding as I really do enjoy them.. Only problem is getting out of the car at the end of the journey.
Finished listening to the full Frank Herbert's Dune series running from the pre DUNE all the way to Sandworms of Dune. The ending is interesting and really ties up all the little pieces along the way.
I am now listening to Bill McKays Stargate series which although is not canon it covers the period after the Stargate movie. Just been introduced to the Setim whose description read "Red Furred bipeds with a Wiley Coyote muzzle and fangs", and they are friendly too.
Anyway - slowly getting my posterier in gear so I hope to start to build stuff again.
Oh - recently my name had becomer known as a Fursuit maintainer so i am often called upon to mend seams, replace zippers, and take suits made from 6'2 140kilo guys and make them fit a 5'7 90kilo guy (hey - so I mix up my measurement.. sue me).
Anyway - back to work..
lots of hugs to all

MidFur 13th
Posted 14 years agoBack from Midfur.
4 Days of Parties, running around in fursuit, talking, designing, and panels.
Took my new digigrade stilts down there and more than a few furries put them on and had a LOT of fun running around, dancing, and generally testing their limits.

Anne McCaffery has passed on
Posted 14 years agoIt's with a heavy heart that I read that Anne McCaffery has passed on. She was an inspriation to many with her wonderful universes and characters.
Who many of you know of Pern and the Dragons there. Or Ballyban with the Crystal singers. Helga - the Ship who sang. And of course the Doona series.
Anne wrote about strong resourceful female characters at a time when more females characters whimpered in the cornewr whilse the men battles bug-eyes monsters.
Sadly missed, Gone Between on one of her Dragons.

Tired Wuffy
Posted 14 years agoHi Folks.
Sorry I have not been up to date with things lately. I'm an IT manager at a company that runs 24/6 and the computers are critical to our operations.
This often means that I am working very long hours to get the day to day maintenance done and then long into the night to do many of the other things that nees to be done.
So this means that I will often drop off the radar for weeks at a time.
Still thinking of all of you thou

Posted 15 years agoHi Folks
Well - 31st Oct evening I packed up Marc into the back of my car and drove to the local shopping center. There are quite a few fast food places around there so it was pretty busy.
Get a lot of smils and hugs from folk enjoying seeing the big wolf running around and creating mischief.
Sadly I had not helpers so no piccies (Although many of the folks there wanted their own pictures with me )
