Again, sorry for my mysterious floating in-and-out of the fandom recently. I'll reiterate that I've been working through some huge life changes and would appreciate everyone's continued patience and support.

Posted 12 years agoReplace it with "FML" instead. Computer broke again. Yesterday came home and it wouldnt even turn on, dispite having good connections with the power supply. Currently its sitting up on the kitchen table all opened up...Hoping to clean it out and test some connections to figure out what hardware needs replacing. Ugh, with all the shit I need to get done, and just now being able to get out of my art-block, this is a super annoying time for technology to decide to be a dick again. its almost 2014, why don't things just work?
Aside from that garbage I have had an extremely busy fall so far. And still there is a little more to do around the job and the homestead. I hope things wind down around thanksgiving, because I can tell you, I've already had quite enough of this instability to last the whole year, and probably the next two combined....-_-;
Anyway...if you want to contact me you should probably go to my tumblr (marisama44). Its the only thing that really works on my phone. on FA I can't really use any of the javascript functions on my phone. Tumblr and email though I check every day.

Posted 12 years agoSo, my computer pretty much fried during a big thunder storm in the summer. Its been down for a while, leaving me with only my phone and a laptop that only works half of the time. But I'm around, and working. The 9 to 5 has been giving me lots of stress recently as well, plus there's always chores to be done around the house...Now that the desktop is fixed and moved into the den, I hope things will settle down soon, at least a little before the holidays get here. x-x oh man, when you're getting older, time goes by so fast...

Busy Summer Update!
Posted 12 years agoUgh guys this summer has already gotten way too busy!
Still working on art (in the rare spurts of work-time that i get at home) so no worries there. Sorry for anyone who's waiting on art, but I want you to know that it will get delivered, and it will be fantastic. :) There's just limited time I have to work on these projects right now.
Been busy with reorganizing the house and moving in. Finally things are settling and he's got a job lined up, so rent is about to get a bit cheaper, thankfully. Having friends visit a lot this summer too, (
, 
, and more) so I've been playing hostess most of the time around here. Work is steady and good, and piling up sometimes...but I'm handling it.
on the con front, i will be ghosting Dragon Con if anyfur is interested in hanging out there. Not interested in paying 50+ bucks to be suffocated to death by a crowd fat sweaty nerds in cosplay outfits and overly hyper yaoi fangirls. This means I will be missing MFM (which is very sad to me) but...there's always next year.
Since I'm pretty sure no one will read this or care, I'll wrap it up now. Lol. Thanks for pretending to listen, and if you are listening, now you know I'm okay (not dead)! Yay!

Still chugging away on freelance work and my commission queue, but some heavy work is about to lift. I'm nearly done with a project that's taken me about 6 months to complete, so I'll be glad once that's off the table. Other than working, life's been steady. My Dad passed away
Posted 12 years agoOn Tuesday night. He had been diagnosed with lung cancer since December last year, and after battling it briefly, it was just too much. He couldn't take any experimental cancer medications because of his congestive heart failure and abnormal heart beat (a-fib) so the only option was chemo...The cancer got into his lymph nodes and killed the nerves in his neck after the diagnosis... he couldn't eat without getting food/water in his windpipe so they put a feeding tube in his side and it was okay for a while. But the insert site never healed because of the chemotherapy (it compromises your immune system quite a bit), and got infected, so he had to have an emergency surgery for that. He tanked pretty hard after that, and they put him in the ICU on Sunday night after his oxygen levels and blood pressure dropped.on top of all that they found a large infection in one of his lungs, and some more water...pneumonia. It was just too much, and he wouldn't have been able to recover..at least not to a state that was comfortable.
The hardest part was seeing the proudest, smartest man I know hooked up to all those tubes and wires for three days, unable to even communicate or have a drink of water. No one deserves to live like that. So, in a really bizarre way, somehow this whole event has been kind of positive for me, like setting him free from a prison. He knew I was there with him, and I'm glad I stayed with him till the end instead of going to sleep, like I wanted to. Don't worry too much, and thank you all for all your support and love right now. Its greatly appreciated.
I'm exhausted and only got home late last night, and only for a day. The funeral stuff starts tomorrow. If you're in Huntsville and are interested in visiting me and my family, the visitation is tomorrow at 6-8 p.m., at Berryhill Funeral Home. The funeral is Saturday at 2 p.m. at Weatherly Heights Baptist Church in Huntsville, with visitation from 1-2 p.m.

I've just straight up been busy seamlessly all week, and it keeps happening. ;_; Anyway, FWA was pretty good and I got to meet up with some awesome people yet again! Quick update
Posted 12 years agoWell things haven't gotten much better. Found out at christmas my Dad has lung cancer, and its spread to his lymph nodes. Plus my mom is in the process of having her house foreclosed on her...so there's alot of family stuff I'm dealing with at the moment. Its going to take some time to get things back on a normal schedule, so bear with me.
I'm still around so feel free to contact me if you need to. Also I'm working on art again, so to my commissioners who are waiting, I'm very sorry for the delay. I appreciate your patience. The Hiatus should soon be over and I can bet back to work as usual. Expect me to be more active leading up to FWA. :3

Bad news and hiatus
Posted 13 years agoSorry to all my commissioners, but I'll have to take some time away from work.
My cat Nyx passed away today. She was about 5 or 6, so it has been a bit of a shock for me as she was so young...I wish I could have had more time with her, or even gotten to say a proper goodbye...but sometimes things happen that way...and life goes on.
I will try to feel better soon, but I do need time to grieve...As soon as things normalize, I'll post another journal.

So I'm officially closing off my emergency commissions for now, and I only have a few more to go. To my commissioners, thank you for your support!

This queue should be done soon when time permits, but the reason why I haven't been updating as much is because I've been making the transition into a new job. Right before Halloween I was hired as the creative coordinator at Big Green Egg, a high-end smoker grill company in Tucker, GA. Things are fast paced but I love it so far! Getting used to a 9 to 5 again has been taxing, so bear with me.
Also had house guests for Halloween, so my free-time has been nonexistent. As things settle down in November though I plan on getting everything out. Then keep your eyes peeled when I reveal my next SUPER SECRET commission project! B3

So to get everyone up to speed, I attended MFM this year (had a great time) and tragically lost my wallet and most of my commission money on the way home. I've been missing in action for a week now because once we got back we had to move into our new house. You can imagine the bills have been pretty heavy during the transition and I'm really hurting since I lost most of my money from MFM, including room-share money.

Posted 13 years agoThis MFM was seriously one of the BEST cons I've ever had. Between all the great people, staying up late, doing art and checking it out, tornados, hookah, partying and chilling with everyone, there was absolutely no time to worry about normal life! Hooray vacation! We were there thurs thru monday and I'm glad we were able to do it this year. Its good to be back home but I did have a super awesome time. Thanks to everyone I chilled with! Once we get into the new place, I will be posting a journal for EMERGENCY COMMISSIONS. I hope you all keep your eyes peeled for it, I am coming up with some pieces to sell for bargain prices to fill up my slots and help me catch up financially. If I do well enough, I may be able to make fang con. :3
As for those of you that commissioned me at the con and did not receive your badge there, please note me with your mailing info and what color lanyard you would like and I can let you know once I ship it. I should be mailing out badges in a couple of weeks, I cant start working on them until I'm moved and unpacked.
Overall, even though I had a pretty crappy ending to it, the con was well worth all the trouble. I love you guys! I plan on trying to come again next year. MFM really is a fantastic group of furs. :3
