I don't get it!
Posted 14 years ago Why do shoddy suits posted on some certain online communities get so much more feedback and positive comments than suits that have had a lot of work put into them? I just don't understand! It seems to be happening quite a lot, too...
I'd post examples but I don't want to call out any names and make people butthurt by calling their work shoddy.
I'm influenced a lot by what other people say about my work, even though i try to be tough-skinned. I've noticed this seems to happen with other art too - artists whose art is very same-y, anatomically incorrect and poorly coloured and yet they have hundreds of followers and loads of faves and comments on each piece they post up ._.
Someone explain to me this strange fluke of human behaviour?

I have to say...
Posted 14 years agoIt makes me laugh a little bit every time I see a shoddy piece of art that the creator has proudly named and signatured. No-one's going to steal your generic deformed wolf drawing, don't worry. :>
Marmite's Foam Base Workshop! London Furs meet: 20th Nov.
Posted 15 years agoWant to try your hand at building your own fursuit head but lacking in confidence or know-how? Want to improve your skills with help from myself and those around you?
You heard it - I'll be running a toony, static-jawed foam-base-building workshop at the next Londonfurs meet.
I'll only be able to fit so many on the table, so please speak up if you want to have a go!
The workshop will run for the whole of the meet, from roughly 1pm to 5 or 6pm - with the possibility of grabbing some dinner after Please only ask to participate if you want to stay on the table for the whole meet, with the exception of lunch.
I'll be tutoring on making full-foam heads. Any species! I'll probably be working on a custom base, if I get a commission (watch this space - if you're going to an LF meet and want to watch your own fursuit coming to life in front of you, I'll have an open foam base commission. PM me!) and will be helping those participating.
I'm not sure how far along we'll get with the process, but if the turnout is good I will be running more of these so the bases will get finished.
For those who are curious, I do have full permission from the meet staff to go ahead with this
What I need you to bring:
- A 1/2" foam helmet with eyes and mouth cut out, as per: http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos....._3844226_n.jpg (with the eyes cut too, made using matrices' method)
- A hot glue gun and sticks, plus scrap paper to rest it on
- 1/2" foam for ears
- 1" and/or 2" foam to make other features with
- Sharp big and smaller scissors
- Concept art and references to work from.
