Posted 3 years agoI'm still alive, but I haven't been taking many pictures! That being said, I still have a ton of photos from older shoots to finish sizing and uploading.
I do have some sad news though. I recently saw Jewel, and was very happy she was still living, but her one eye now shows signs of illness. The pupil is completely dilated, and it looks like she's got glaucoma.
Without her only eye, and in an area full of dangerous wildlife, constant traffic, and a few bad humans who have abused animals at this location, I do not think she will be around for much longer.
I don't have any funds to assist her, and no room at my home to house an additional cat.
What I would like everyone to take away from this is:
Cherish your animals. They are loving, caring creatures with their own thoughts, language, and emotions.
Please also spay and neuter your pets, to prevent cases like this from happening. There are an estimated one hundred cats in this location. It is a prime dumping ground for unwanted animals, and many "oopsie" litters have been abandoned here.
Many do not survive. The ones that do face a very stressful, painful life. I saw some familiar faces the other day, some I've taken photos of before, and they show so many signs of illness, scarring, and disease.
Love your fur babies, treat them well.

Posted 5 years agoI took another trip to the Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge again! It was extremely fun, although me and my girlfriend crawled out of it with only a few drops of blood left thanks to roving packs of wild mosquitoes.
The one thing I hate about photography is... editing the photos. I still haven't caught up on all the photos I've taken in the last several months. I will be getting to that.
I have good news about Jewel the cat. While taking the trips to the area where the cats live, I didn't see her for a span of months. I saw her again just the other day, and she is alive and well! I am so happy she's ok.
I was also able to meet up with the people who feed the cats again, and also the head of a local cleanup effort for the area. They are looking forward to raising funds to sponsor getting the cats fixed! At least these babies will have one less thing to worry about if this is able to proceed.

Posted 5 years agoI had a lot of fun taking pictures of an osprey today!
They did not like being photographed very much at all and kept flying from telephone pole to telephone pole.
I'm going to upload many pictures of this osprey tomorrow at some point.

Posted 5 years agoI'm still uploading old photos but I took some more today!
On my trip today, I saw some rosette spoonbills! Unfortunately they were in flight and the only pictures I got of them were through the window of the car. They were very blurred.
I'm glad I got to see them, though! :D It was super exciting!

Posted 5 years agoThe bald eagle pair is back at the marsh!
It is much too far for me to take a picture of. A nice person set up a high powered eyepiece so people can view them and their babies. There are rumored to be two babies in the nest!
I am very happy to hear that these birds are back again this year.

Posted 5 years agoThere is a very vocal owl outside my window right now!
There is currently no way for me to get a photo, it's much too dark and it's in a tree.
From the sound I believe it's a great horned owl.
Keep on hooting, my friend!
