Hey guys.

I'm absolutely exhausted and have been fighting a migraine all day-- and a dislocated rib, thanks to my enthusiastic child -- but I wanted to let you know that I have been very slowly working on the things I need to.

I have a paperchild for  Nahia that just needs laminating, a sketch I need to get to Kiba for approval so I can ink the dang thing and three badges that I'm halfway through colors on. I upgraded the three badges to being on bristol with backgrounds, which is part of what's taking so long with them. It's been longer than I realized since I worked with bristol/illustration board, and I've had to start over a few times after completely screwing up and thinking I could use my markers properly on it.

I also apologize for not having posted anything recently. I've been drawing, sketching and doodling... and I know that this is a common fear among artists, especially those who take commissions-- but I haven't wanted to post any of my personal stuff because I'm kinda paranoid that it'll come off as my not working on my business stuff.

Art aside, life has been completely exhausting. I have some kind of chest cold, a pounding headache and Eli (who still has another 7 weeks before he's supposed to be born) dislocated one of my ribs. There's nothing quite like the feeling of finally getting the damn thing to pop back into place and then having something kick it, full-force, from inside you. And also, nothing like the feeling of your rib trying to grate against your other ribs. Part of the reason this is so bad for me, particularly, is because when I was younger I fractured three of my ribs and separated the cartiledge between them. I guess this makes it easier for the specific rib that's doing this to slip in and out of place. The worst part is that the most I can do for it is to keep as still as possible (which if you know me, is not an easy thing), keep on on pain management for it and rest.

But wait! I mentioned having a chest cold. Which means that holding still isn't exactly an option, what with the hacking, gurgling cough that I've got. That I have to be sure doesn't turn into bronchitis or pneumonia, because my immune system is sort of trashed right now, what with gestating a not-so-tiny human and all.

Then there's the scarring that's ripping itself up while things are growing/moving, the chance of major surgery in my future and the inability to walk down the stairs at my apartments without feeling like someone's road-hauled me.

I know that none of you probably *want* to know about the extent of my current health, but I feel like I should share at least a bit so you all know why I haven't been being a good monkey and getting my work done promptly.

Hey guys.

I'm still hanging in there, and am getting further along in the pregnancy. My ability to sit and draw has been severely limited- all that work I was excited about getting to do on commissions? Yeah. Being in gut-wrenching pain every day, struggling to keep food down and having most of your body's resources go to keeping a baby growing and healthy don't really get to be argued with. Not to mention that the carpal tunnel in *both* my wrists has started to flare up because of things like hormones and water retention (I do not like water retention.).

This isn't to say, though, that I haven't been working on commissions and the trade I owe. @_@ I do have several things sitting in various stages-- including a rough sketch for your trade, Kiba! I have a lot of refining work, then inking and for all the badges, coloring that I need to do. As I said in my previous journal, I will not be at Califur this year. First, because I haven't been medically cleared to go by my OB and second, because it would be horrificly wrong of me to accept new commissions, when I still owe old ones. It's part of the reason I haven't opened commissions back up to raise money for the baby. It just doesn't feel right to be taking new work when I have old to finish. Call my morals old fashioned (I wouldn't), but I believe in business ethics.

I've been upright for just about long enough now, and should probably go lie back down and try to get some rest while I can. I hope all of you are doing well!

I'm still alive and kicking, guys, I promise. I've been trying to get what work I can, done. It's been difficult with my health dipping up and down from the pregnancy. On the upside, as horrible as my health is right now, my son's is as amazing. I'm starting to think that he's leeching my life force out, and will burst forth from my chest with a screech, come September.

We know he's a boy, now! His name is going to be Elijah, or Eli for short. We're not too sure about a middle name yet, but we're thinking of either something Irish or something entertaining, like Storm. Mostly because we've called him Stormageddon for so long.

To the people that I need to get stuff mailed out to (like  decolordomina ), I should be able to do that sometime in the next few weeks. What's been stopping me is literally a lack of enough money to get stuff shipped properly at the post office. We've -finally- been able to afford stamps. Everything we've got has pretty much been going to keeping me and Eli healthy. Thank you a thousand times to all my commissioners from Califur last year; I'll be taking a year off of the convention this year (I may be attending for fun, though, on my birthday!). With there being this big of a gap between last year's con and being able to complete my commission work, it just doesn't feel right committing to clients knowing that I'm going to have a child needing my complete attention by the end of the year. I may still offer sketches and inked work, but after this round of commissions is done, I won't be doing conventions for a while.

I hope to be getting back to posting stuff up here! I wish I could promise that I'd be able to update regularly, but with my health I just can't. Thank you again for being understanding. <3

Hey everybody!

As you've noticed, I've been away from FA for a rather long time. It's not because I'm ignoring you guys, or because I've forgotten anything-- it's been because of health, both good and bad.

As some of you know, in September of last year I had a lengthy stay in the hospital, due to my immune system dipping and my getting a nasty infection. After that, I was hospitalized for something a bit more personal in nature-- a two week stay that wasn't much fun at all.

Last week, I was in the hospital again, this time for something called Hyperemesis Gravidarum which is an illness that you get during pregnancy! It's basically morning sickness on steroids, crack and then some more steroids. I ended up dropping twenty pounds in less than a week, no joke, from getting sick to my stomach so much. Thankfully, though, the baby is completely oblivious to what's going on and is hale and hearty~

On the note of that, it's official! I'm 10 weeks pregnant! It raises some interesting quandaries, including questions about my gender identity-- but we've had that bit figured out for a while now. Guess it's time to break out the seahorse character again!

If I'm quiet, it's because I'm trying to recoup from the terrible morning sickness-ailment-thing. I'm still slowly (but surely) working on commissions, and you all have my immense thanks for being so patient with me.

My husband, housemate and I are almost settled in. We've almost got all the mail transferred over to the new house, and we're getting to the boxes that have all my art tools in them. I've been sketching and working on inks here and there, when I get a spare minute, but sadly, I haven't been able to get much done in the way of commissions. I'm estimating that in another week or so, I'll be able to get some of the simpler ones to the next step, as well as getting my new work area fully set up. @_@

To everyone who ordered a commission from me at Califur: My husband and I very unexpectedly are having to move; thankfully, we've gotten past the terrifying week of not knowing if we'd have a place to live come the 20th-- we've found a great apartment now! I'll admit, I was terrified. We had been told by a place that we really, really liked that we were "certain to get it", so we took them at their word and didn't apply anywhere else. Of course, we didn't get the place.

That led to frantic scrambling, since out scheduled move-out date was fast approaching. We eventually found another place that we like as much, if not more. Unfortunately for my worklist, packing and finding a place to live has had to come before finishing commissions. I have a lot of the base blocking done for several, and some that are waiting in a partially-inked state for the whirlwind to die down and me to get to finish them.

I am very, very sorry that I haven't been able to get more of them done by now; I need to remember to give a leeway for the chaos that inevitably happens after CF. D: Thank you in advance for being understanding; I'll be doing something special for each of you-- I hope that you'll like the surprise~!

Hi guys!

I'm back from Califur, and am slowly recovering from the convention. I'm still getting everything here at the home base settled down... and I get to uproot it all again on Satuday, since I'm going out of town for a week. Which brings me to say: If you got a commission from me at Califur that I need to mail to you, there will be a slightly longer delay than expected. I hadn't expected to crash so spectacularly after this con, but I did. And with the upcoming trip, that means that I need to not push myself. For those of you who are new to knowing me, my immune system is less than spectacular and I tend to get sick very easily, and times of high stress (like a con) tend to make me more susceptible to illness. The last time my immune system took a nosedive, I got pneumonia.

The length of the extra wait should only be an added week or so, but I wanted to be upfront about it. I'll be including a small note with a random sketch on it with everything I ship, so hopefully that'll make up for making everyone wait!

In other news (that no one wants to hear), my insides have decided to turn into some kind of torture machine and so I may be a bit snappy for the next few days. Please bear with me, so I won't have to be a bear with you. <3

Due to the legal issues that surround the raffle/game of opportunity and the laws of the state that I live in, the raffle is getting postponed until further notice. All current donations to the raffle will be refunded, which I'll be taking care of as soon as I'm done typing this.

It breaks me to have to put this thing on hold. Some of the reasons it hurts are selfish, and some are the complete opposite. Right now, I have to focus on getting all this back together so that I can start it up, legally, in the future. Though I don't think that I'll understand quite why our raffle was singled out; I don't want them to stop on FA, per-say, but I'd really like a degree of fairness in the future. I know that's probably all pipe dreams and stupid hopes, but sometimes, hope is all a guy has left in the end.

ATTENTION RAFFLE ENTRANTS:

Hey there, FA. I normally do everything that I can to avoid this, but short of selling things that we require, we won't have enough money-- why, do you ask?

My husband's car got towed.

The total cost is $320 to get it back. We're going to be getting it back tonight, but at the expense of us being very, very tight on cash-- and from the looks of it, we're going to have quite a bit of trouble paying bills this month. If anyone can donate, or would like to commission me (I would prefer this), please, PLEASE let me know. Anything helps. If you can't donate, please repost this to your journal. I know that most of my watchers aren't in a position to help monitarily, but if you could just get the word out, that would mean a lot to me.

Like many people who posted this, I hesitated before doing it; I feel greedy doing things like this-- but I like the idea of people 'paying it forward'. If I can make someone else's dream come true, that would be awesome. I know I'd be overjoyed if anyone could fulfill one of MY dreams.

Make a post in your journal containing your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple to really big. The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

If you wish for real-life things, make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where folks could get in touch with you.

Step 2
Surf around other lists to see who has posted their list. If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream for free--do it. You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call. There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

Step 3
The List (In no particular order)

1. I would really, REALLY like a Canon camera, of the Rebel line. I don't care what part of the line it's from-- early or more recent. Heck, I just would like a professional quality camera for shooting with. Nikon, Sony, Canon.... Anything. <3
2. A new set of micron inking pens so that I can ink things properly.
3. TEA. Oh my gosh, how I love tea. The only two things that I'm allergic to, since this is a food item are: bananas and chili peppers (this includes things like white and red pepper). Loose leaf, in a bag ANYTHING. OH MY GOODNESS TEA. *sparkles*
4. A small Christmas tree. Its our first year in our own apartment, and I really, REALLY want to be able to have a tree.
5. To see my family and friends.
6. A lot of people are asking for donations (which is alright for them, but... I just can't). I am a horribly proud creature, and I would feel bad asking for them. So instead, I'd like more commissions. It makes me feel accomplished to have worked for money, and since I can't seem to get a job, I want to use my talents to earn.
7. Everyone has one 'impossible' wish. Mine is that I hadn't lost the baby, and that I could be looking forward to the last ten weeks, instead of crying. I know it's depressing, but it's the thing that I want most in the world right now.
8. I'd honestly like art. It sounds silly and I know that free art isn't something that most people can afford to give right now; but if anyone would like to draw for me, I can provide them with ideas and references and stuff!
9. A bigger wacom tablet. Note: If this is filled, I will find someone who's wishlist includes a tablet, and donate my old one. It's not broken or anything, I just... I'd like something more suited to my work restrictions.
10. I can't think of just one thing for this last space-- there's little things I'd like, like copics or candy or a top hat. So I'll just say: I wish that someone out there gets at least one of their 'big wishes' from their list, and that I can fill at least three small ones for people.

I'm updating from my awesome new toy, an Archos 5. Also, I'm updatng from the bath, since you all clearly needed to know that, teehee. I kno hand held internet devices aren't new, but this is the first time I've ever had one. I'm geeking hard over it. I really dont have anything useful to say... but I love you all. Also, < b>macro and micro $10 sketches are STILL OPEN!!!</b>
