It's Christmas Card Time Again!!
Posted 2 weeks agoThe cards are ordered, as well, as new return address labels and card seals.
Time for me to go over the list of recipients. I will NOT remove an address, until it gets returned two years in a row.
If you have received a card from me in the past and have not moved in the meantime, don't worry. You will get a card.
If you have received a card from me in the past and HAVE moved, let me know your old and new address so I can update my list.
If you have NOT received a card from me in the past and would like to receive one, send me your address so I can add you to the list.
If you would prefer the card emailed, let me know your email address.
I will mail out the cards to those outside the U.S. the first week of November. This is because many countries are very slow in delivering mail. Even with two months, you might not get it until January.
I will mail out the cards to those within the U.S. the day after Thanksgiving. Don't worry. I have it on good authority from someone who works in the post office that the card rush in in the middle of November before Thanksgiving. Mailing after Thanksgiving is perfectly fine.
The cards are custom made, and feature an image of The Beach Bears on the front, a new one every year. Some collect them and show them off together, which tickles me pink.

Posted 2 weeks agoYesterday, Dr. Demento, known for playing silly or odd songs, and who also gave Weird Al his start, aired his last show. He is retiring.
Little did I know that he had been doing retrospectives for several week, going over the decades he was on the air. On September 13th, he covered 2007-2015.

Posted 6 months agoI like the idea of being able to change the displayed name of my account, but I did not care for the Modern webpage style, which was necessary to change it.
However, if you, like me, prefer the classic layout, there is a way to change the display name.
Step 1: Change to the Modern style.
Step 2: Change your display name.
Step 3: Change back to the Classic style.
Voila! You have changed your display name, and can still use the Classic style.
Yes, it's a bit involved, but how often do you have to do it?

meijimeowth made for me to comfort me, you know that I lost my cat a bit more than 24 hours ago.
We adopted that cat from another family that was going to Africa in the Peace Corps. He grew up initially in a house filled with males, and so when he came to us, he was attracted to me as the only human male in the house. Wherever I was, he needed to be.
In the past month, however, he began to stop eating, his droppings were small to non-existent. He grew gaunt and weak. Finally, early Friday morning, he passed.
I hope and pray none of you ever have to handle the dead body of a pet. I now have had to do it twice.
At 72, it becomes a reminder of my own mortality. My parents lived to their 90's, and I fully expect to reach mine, as well, however I can feel my body weakening, year by year. I try not to think of it, but events like this become a reminder.
In any case, I have received many condolences from many of you, and I am grateful for them. If I seem out of sorts, this is why. Please have patience with me, and thank you.

Restating a call for help

He lives in Washington, west southwest of Seattle. He is willing to move anywhere, but this needs to be a more permanent place. He is on SSI and cannot live alone on just that.
The one person who is letting him stay in the house he's in now is not in the best health and, while I hate to say it, he may not be around much longer. When that happens, Bobby will have to leave.
He's getting desperate to find a new place to live.
I can vouch for him.
