INTERNATIONAL CHRISTMAS CARDS ARE MAILED!!
Posted 2 years agoJust came back from the post office. Those on my Christmas Card list who have international addresses, your card is on the way! That gives it 6 weeks to get there before Christmas, 7 before the end of the year.
I will be mailing out domestic ones on my birthday, Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving. I'm told by a postal worker that is the best time to mail domestic Christmas Cards, because most mail them in mid November, and you miss the rush and the cards will still have 4 weeks to get to their destination.
As a reminder, it's not too late to get added to my card list. Just PM me your name and address.

Getting the Frankenstein treatment on Halloween
Posted 2 years agoFor those who don't know, tomorrow I will be going through a medical procedure called a cardioversion. This is basically passing an electric jolt through the chest to restore the natural heartbeat. You've seen it done in TV dramas, where the EMT takes two paddles, puts it on someone's chest and shouts, "CLEAR!" In a hospital setting it is not nearly as dramatic or dangerous.
None the less, because they are zapping my heart on Halloween, I've been thinking of many, many, MANY jokes that would apply.
"Take this lightning rod and go up to the roof. The thunderstorm will be along presently."
"It's alive! IT'S ALIVE!!"
Before: "Braaaaaiiiiins." After: "Oh, that's much better."
So, anyway, your good wishes are still wanted, but I should be fine.

Since Bing has been down all day...
Posted 2 years agoI've been trying other image generators. I'm beginning to rank them for my use.
There are several which, even though you tell it "red fox" and "Zootopia" it produces human images only. I toss those aside.
Some won't take Zootopia as a descriptive word. In those cases I simply say "3D animation"
I'll eventually narrow it down to a group that are close to what I want in an image.
So far, Bing beats them all for me.

A Study In Grey Illustrations
Posted 2 years agoSince AI images are not allowed on FA, I have created a directory in Google Drive to hold all the images I've been creating including a list of the prompts that created them.
https://drive.google.com/drive/fold.....op?usp=sharing
I will NOT be using them all, obviously, not even most of them. Just wanted you to see what I have to go through just to find images that are close to what I want.

CASTING CALL!!
Posted 2 years agoEver wanted to be in one of the stories I record? Now's your chance!!
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/24856816/ A Study In Grey
I'm turning this story into an illustrated video, so, I need voices for all the parts. There are twelve:
1) Gideon Grey. You will have to get close to the voice used in the film, with it growing older as the story goes on.
2) Travis Delver. Try to get close to the voice in the film, but this is not as crucial, as he had so few.
3) Dorothy Grey. Gideon's mother. This is an original character to the story. Should sound southern just like Gideon.
4) Teen Wolf. A deliquent. Original to the story. Will say only one very offensive word.
5) EMT medic. Species not yet determines. Has only two lines: "Get him out of here!" and "Clear!"
6) Stu Hopps. Again, try to get close to the voice in the film.
7) Raccoon Deputy-Sheriff. Compassionate, yet, no nonsense. Needs to be gentle with the innocent, and stern with the guilty. Original to the story.
8) Madge Honey Badger. You barely met her in the film. Here she is Gideon's therapist.
9) Joan Rascal. Gideon's foster mother. A coyote. Gently and patient. Original to the story.
10) Mister Rascal. Gideon's foster father. A coyote. Landscaper. Teaches Gideon what being an adult male predator is really about.
11) Bonnie Hopps. Again, try to get close to the voice in the film.
12) Elderly Rabbit Judge. Original to the story. She should sound like she's been doing the carrot festival since the first year.

Christmas Cards
Posted 2 years agoFor the past three years, I have been having custom Christmas Cards made for me, to send to friends. If you have already received one in the past, you are already on the list for this year.
If, however, you have NOT received one, and would LIKE to receive one, send me your address and I'll add you to my list.
Be aware that international mail often takes longer, so unless you let me know soon, it may not arrive in time for Christmas.
It is my Christmas gift to you, my fans.

My General Health
Posted 2 years agoApparently, I have developed Atrial Fibrillation, which is a situation where, instead of beating a regular beat, the Atria of the heart kind of flutter. This confuses the Ventricals, so, they can't pump blood as well, and I end up with a more rapid pulse, and low blood pressure. It also means I run out of energy rapidly and end up huffing and puffing after doing the least little things.
So, they are going to do a procedure on my called a cardioversion. You've all see it done on TV dramas in emergency situations, where the guy puts two paddles on the guys chest and shouts, "CLEAR!" followed by a thump.
This will be in a hospital situation. Far more subdued and controlled with lower voltages because it's not an emergency.
So, I called today to set up the appointment, and they said the first day they could do it was October 31st.
Wait, Halloween? Yup. They can zap my heart on Halloween.
Aw, HELL yeah!! Let's do this!!

Posted 2 years agoWhat Christmas songs have you NOT heard Stargazer, Birch, or Dipper do, that you think they would do great with?

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Posted 2 years agoWith the publication of this Addendum, I want everyone to know that I am officially releasing my characters to anyone who wishes to use them without having to ask permission. This includes Stargazer, Birch, and Dipper as well as Dan, Aurora, Sara, Corona, Perseus, and others.
I simply ask that you keep their interactions PG or better.
In addition, you are free to expand upon the lives of the characters. Is there a story you think needs to be told from before Birch entered the lives of Stargazer and Dipper? Go ahead and tell it. Something between when the Beach Bears broke up and Dipper went to the Air Force Academy? Same thing.
Is there an idea you like to see but don't feel competent enough to write it? Let me know. I'll consider it.
The reason why I'm doing this:
I'm 70 years old. I hopefully will be around for 20 more years, but I don't expect my voice to hold out as good as it is now. I can already feel some degradation. I also can't vouch for my mental state. It will likely remain fine, but I have no guarantees. My eyesight as well could become suspect. You never know.
The point being, I don't want my characters to die. I love them too much to let that happen.
So, please, go ahead. Use them with my blessing.

Ask Diper: Episode 9
Posted 2 years agoIndiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny *NO SPOILERS*
Posted 2 years agoI saw the film on Monday, and discovered that that, apparently, was the day all the retirees go to the movies (probably to take advantage of the discount).
It was good entertainment, but something about the film kept bothering me (besides the fact that I couldn't understand the music or the dialog a good portion of the film. Not sure if that was due to the theater or my hearing. I plan to get my hearing checked, though0.
But the more I thought about the plot and the script, the more holes I found in the plot. And I'm not talking about one or two big ones, I'm talking about a LOT of little one, ones which could have been corrected easily. Not going to give examples, because I promised no spoilers (BTW, I put a two month limit on not spoiling a movie. I figure if you didn't care enough to see the film within two months of its release, I am under no obligation not to talk about it.).
However, it does bring up an interesting point. Did the script writers who are on strike write this script? Because looking over it now, it could easily have been written by an AI. Hell, I'm no professional, and I could have rewritten it. There were unnecessary scenes, and explanations that were left out, as well as actions that made no sense.
If you want examples, DM me.
I'm not saying don't see it. I'm saying of the 5 Indy films, it disappointed me the most.

Posted 2 years agoWhat is Furry?
Posted 2 years agoI'm hearing a lot people who are either claiming they are no longer furries, or who claim that if you don't believe such-and-such you are not a furry.
I think this is utter nonsense. Do you have an interest in anthropomorphic animals? If you answer yes, you can consider yourself a furry.
You don't have to be an artist.
You don't have to have a fursuit.
You don't have to have a fursona.
You don't have to go to a convention.
You simply have to have an interest. That's it.
Anyone who puts more onto it, is either placing a yoke around someone else's neck or on their own.
The only way for one to leave the fandom is to no longer be interested in anthropomorphic animals. Just because someone else puts extra stipulations on their own definition of what it means to be furry doesn't mean you have to accept their definition.
And frankly, anyone who would exclude someone from the fandom simply because they don't believe or support such-and-such is someone I would not want to associate with.
I am a furry, I will always be a furry. Nothing anyone else says will change that.
