2011 Hello! + Valentine's Day Meme!

Why, Hello my fellow furry ones! I've missed you all! Where the hell have I been? I don't even remember - Haha! It has simply been such a crazy life these past few years I've lost track of time, money, and above all else, art. Ooooh, how I have missed watching and doing art. But soon, I hope to reclaim the happiness the furry community once brought me. I have never forgotten it, no no, but life has a funny way of making us go through things we'd rather not.
Not much has changed about me. I'm still the same ol' Mayu. Same interests, same drives and ambitions. But with some twists and turns here and there. For starters, soon I will be retiring my character Mayu, as I feel she represents too much of the past me, and I feel it's time to move on to something new and better representing of myself. But more on that later.
Somewhere along the line I fell into the occupation of cake decorating and it DEVOURED. MY. SOUL. Happily at first, but now, regretfully. What I once thought was going to be my drive in life has now come to a grinding halt - and I wish to step off the bus. I need art in my life. I need a more social job where Im not shoved in the back of a kitchen, head down, and day by day adding to America's ever-growing weight issue (Haha). It's just no longer fulfilling.
My future wishes are to soon go back to college, for Graphic Design/Web Media, Move out within the year, and start drawing again! Let's hope they all come true!
So, I want to thank you all form the botton of my heart for all of the comments, notes, good wishes, watches and love i've received while being inactive for this long downtime, but now I am back, and will be extending those same wishes 10 fold. HELLO AGAIN FA! <3<3<3

When I look at the world's mis-matched couples, It's hard to think that there couldn't have been some greater force working there.

Public Displays of Affection? Well, there's a time and a place for everything. You won't find me snogging my partner in the middle of the mall, or something. I hate seeing people do that. But a peck on the cheek is A-OK. :/

Everything I could ask for. Just going through rough times due to things out of our control: Financial, Home situation, etc. But this too shall pass.
18. Have you ever been dumped on Valentines?
No, but I asked someone out and was rejected on a Valentine's Day. Their loss!

As many as someone would wanna give me. I'm not greedy!
20. Will you have a boyfriend/girlfriend next year?

Posted 16 years agoJust thought that I would share this little experience I had a few weeks ago with you guys...
On my way out the door to work, I happened to look down the road and noticed to be, what I thought, was a cat crossing the street. Big deal.
Wondering if it was the neighbor's Tuxedo cat having got lost again, I watched as it started down the road to me as I called to it...

Then I noticed he was walking right to me!...

And as he walked down the driveway, about 5 feet from me...

I decided to run back into my house and watch him from a safe distance. Don't get me wrong, I would've loved to pet him, but god knows what any wild animal can have/do. Haha.
The funniest thing was that he followed me right up to the front door and sat there staring at me for a good 5 minutes. Just sniffing about and staring. Not aggressive at all. Just curious.
It was a fun encounter, to say the least. :)

Posted 16 years agoFurry vs. Anthro: The Subject of Sex in the Age Old Debate
Posted 16 years agoI know that I am probably going to get nagged for even thinking of starting this journal. But it bothers me...
(The statements below are nothing more than SPECULATION. I do not claim to speak for the entire "Furry/Anthro" Communities, whilst stating my own personal views and questions.)
Please note for this discussion, the term "Anthro" will be directed towards the Animal/Human association slang. Not the true definition of Anthropomorphic, where, for instance, a table lamp could be humanized and be coined "Anthro".
So the most popular arguments that I have heard when it comes to the matter of calling your character Anthro or Furry are:
• "Anthro is drawing animals acting/walking/talking with human traits like they would in general society, whereas, Furry is simply a sexualized form of Anthro. Anthro's genre consists mainly of were-like creatures, taurs and "animals found in nature on two-legs", where the Furry Genre commonly associate's it's body of work with various deviant sexual tendencies such as oversized sexual organs."
• "The Anthro genre is used to express one's imagination through mythical beasts and story-telling through natural beauty, whereas the Furry Genre was created to express one's sexuality through the attractiveness of the character."
•" Anthro artist's are respectable, uptight conservative people who draw what they feel comes from their soul. Furry artist's emmerse themselves in false realities through an often over sexualized character and continue to represent themselves as such."
• "Anthros are creatures which the artist has associated spiritually with. Furries are characters whom the artists wants to, or wants to see, fucked."
In short, the most prominent complaint I have seen about either community are the views on "sex".
When it boils down to it, on both sides I feel the whole argument is a matter of how one views Sexual Content. Either it is there, in your face, such as commonly shown in the Furry Community, or, Never mentioned or displayed, as in most Anthro communities. (And please, enlighten me if I am wrong - I'm not claiming to know everything about anything.)
Now, I know there are exceptions to every view. Not everyone is the same, needless to say, and all in all both genres are nothing more than ARTISTIC REPRESENTATION. But from MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE, Having been friends with Furry and Anthro Artists alike - I do see a divide of common interests. And there is NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT. However there seems to be this silent war going back and forth between genres, over who is right and who is wrong, and it is simply absurd.
Some people just plain do not like thinking about sex outside of their own bedrooms. Cool. I get it. Maybe you were raised that way or otherwise - But that does not automatically give you the right to shoot down a whole community of individuals just because they have coined themselves "Furry". Do you remember the 90's? When Anime and Hentai were often confused for the very same thing? That misunderstanding has died down now, due to exsposure and a rise in popularity. It is the same with Furries and Yiff. Not every Furry draws cub, rape, or any other morbid sexual fairytale you have heard of/seen (which, by the way, no one is forcing you to look at). Give people a chance and you may end up pleasantly surprised. If you have an issue with cartoon animals having boobs - Go bitch at Disney first.
At the same time trying to force someone to believe in your views is just as bad as them trying to tell you what to do. I can not tell you how many times i have seen a group of (again, stereotypical) Furries yelling "lets cover them in spooge -thatll show em" at their adversaries while expecting peace to come from it. If you are happy with what you're doing - Go for it - who cares what they want to say or do about it?
If having/thinking about/drawing sex is what gets you through the day, so be it. Don't force it on other people.
All in all, what you define your style or your character as is YOUR decision. We are creatively minded people with different tastes, opinions and upbringings. Most postable websites nowadays have a warning/security/parental control feature that warns you sexual content is on the way.
If you don't want to see it, but you still click it, that's your own damned fault.
As a final thought, sex is not the only thing that defines the furry genre. It shouldn't be, and to me, it isn't. But, this is how it is perceived by the uneducated. I realize lately there has been an influx of people joining the community simply to share every kink even deviant society would find obscene, or even illegal. Television shows have bastardized the Furry Culture and many are finding the term "Furry" in and of itself, disgusting. Many people who do in fact draw furry art, choose not to call themselves "Furry Artists" but "Anthro" for lack of a better term, to be safe. Wrong or Right, is up to personal perspective.
**Often, I refer to myself as a Furry. I feel more relaxed in the genre and in a sense, free. I enjoy my sexuality, and I enjoy expressing it. My characters have genitalia and breasts. With the addition or subtraction of clothing, they can be as seductive or reclusive as I choose. But like I said, the genre isn't just about sex.
But at the same time, I love "Anthro" Art, and I have no problem enjoying pictures of such characters. I often dabble in the field of it myself, and often turn my "Furry" characters "Anthro" or even "Feral".
Everything has a dark side.
So... I won't go ahead and devote myself to either label. Sometimes I'll say Furry and sometimes I'll say Anthro - wherever the term, as I see it, fits. I'm just an artist, drawing what I want to draw, and if there is a problem with that. Well. I refuse to say that I am sorry. The only way you're going to be able to stop me is with an eraser or a back button.

• "Anthro is drawing animals acting/walking/talking with human traits like they would in general society, whereas, Furry is simply a sexualized form of Anthro. Anthro's genre consists mainly of were-like creatures, taurs and "animals found in nature on two-legs", where the Furry Genre commonly associate's it's body of work with various deviant sexual tendencies such as oversized sexual organs."

In short, the most prominent complaint I have seen about either community are the views on "sex".
When it boils down to it, on both sides I feel the whole argument is a matter of how one views Sexual Content. Either it is there, in your face, such as commonly shown in the Furry Community, or, Never mentioned or displayed, as in most Anthro communities. (And please, enlighten me if I am wrong - I'm not claiming to know everything about anything.)
Now, I know there are exceptions to every view. Not everyone is the same, needless to say, and all in all both genres are nothing more than ARTISTIC REPRESENTATION. But from MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE, Having been friends with Furry and Anthro Artists alike - I do see a divide of common interests. And there is NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT. However there seems to be this silent war going back and forth between genres, over who is right and who is wrong, and it is simply absurd.
Some people just plain do not like thinking about sex outside of their own bedrooms. Cool. I get it. Maybe you were raised that way or otherwise - But that does not automatically give you the right to shoot down a whole community of individuals just because they have coined themselves "Furry". Do you remember the 90's? When Anime and Hentai were often confused for the very same thing? That misunderstanding has died down now, due to exsposure and a rise in popularity. It is the same with Furries and Yiff. Not every Furry draws cub, rape, or any other morbid sexual fairytale you have heard of/seen (which, by the way, no one is forcing you to look at). Give people a chance and you may end up pleasantly surprised. If you have an issue with cartoon animals having boobs - Go bitch at Disney first.
At the same time trying to force someone to believe in your views is just as bad as them trying to tell you what to do. I can not tell you how many times i have seen a group of (again, stereotypical) Furries yelling "lets cover them in spooge -thatll show em" at their adversaries while expecting peace to come from it. If you are happy with what you're doing - Go for it - who cares what they want to say or do about it?
If having/thinking about/drawing sex is what gets you through the day, so be it. Don't force it on other people.
All in all, what you define your style or your character as is YOUR decision. We are creatively minded people with different tastes, opinions and upbringings. Most postable websites nowadays have a warning/security/parental control feature that warns you sexual content is on the way.
If you don't want to see it, but you still click it, that's your own damned fault.
As a final thought, sex is not the only thing that defines the furry genre. It shouldn't be, and to me, it isn't. But, this is how it is perceived by the uneducated. I realize lately there has been an influx of people joining the community simply to share every kink even deviant society would find obscene, or even illegal. Television shows have bastardized the Furry Culture and many are finding the term "Furry" in and of itself, disgusting. Many people who do in fact draw furry art, choose not to call themselves "Furry Artists" but "Anthro" for lack of a better term, to be safe. Wrong or Right, is up to personal perspective.
**Often, I refer to myself as a Furry. I feel more relaxed in the genre and in a sense, free. I enjoy my sexuality, and I enjoy expressing it. My characters have genitalia and breasts. With the addition or subtraction of clothing, they can be as seductive or reclusive as I choose. But like I said, the genre isn't just about sex.
But at the same time, I love "Anthro" Art, and I have no problem enjoying pictures of such characters. I often dabble in the field of it myself, and often turn my "Furry" characters "Anthro" or even "Feral".
Everything has a dark side.
So... I won't go ahead and devote myself to either label. Sometimes I'll say Furry and sometimes I'll say Anthro - wherever the term, as I see it, fits. I'm just an artist, drawing what I want to draw, and if there is a problem with that. Well. I refuse to say that I am sorry. The only way you're going to be able to stop me is with an eraser or a back button.

So. Where Have I Been..?
Posted 17 years agoSo, today I go though my bookmarks, and a familiar little line catches my eye: "Fur Affinity". I sigh, and just stare at it longingly. Then I click it. 3,500 new messages greet me. Tons of comments, favs, and watches, almost all ignored. A lot of people wondering where I am, If I've stopped drawing, or just died.
With another sigh, I look at the time I last submitted anything here. ... 5 months ago. 5 Freakin' months. A pile of finished/near finished drawings sits by my computer. I start to feel bad. I've said it a million times: "College, Family, Stress, and other things are distracting me." But that's not enough. I still feel this actual emptiness inside. I feel disconnected from the furry world, from drawing, from a very important part of my life and being. I'm depressed, and I know that this is a part of it. I don't even feel right calling myself an 'artist' anymore. Or go by 'Mayu'. And that hurts. I don't know why, but it does, and I've bottled it up too long.
I know, that this all started after Christmas, when I almost got kicked out of college (which turned out being THEIR mistake)... But that thought, that, I had worked so hard all my life to draw, and design, to go through a tech high school majoring in design, working hard to make it to the college I'm in... and... to feel like, by them nearly kicking me out, they didn't want me there.. It made me question my art. Made me question if I belong doing what I am doing. Instead of waking me up, this whole ordeal just shut me down, and I've sat here since Christmas, almost intimidated to draw, or even be creative again.
But. I need to suck it all up, take a deep breath... and just draw again. To hell with the consequences, As long as I get my school work done, and I survive, I can't worry about every problem. Drawing was an outlet for me, and I've had that outlet closed for a long time, and I need to get the flow going once more.
Thank you, to everyone who has shared their love and comments in my absence. Though I know I have not replied to many of you, I want you to know how appreciated your time to sit and write me even 2 encouraging words is in my life. Many people look at FA and see "fur, porn, scribbles" But I don't. I see a type of family who shares wonderful common interests, and much deeper logics and connections. A love of art, animals, and culture. I need to come back into this world.
I know I've said it a million and a half times, but I would like to especially thank everyone who participated in the contest last year, for their patience. I wish this point in my life didn't have to strike right after i held it.

Mac Book Pro Help?
Posted 18 years agoHey guys, I've ran into a couple problems with my laptop along the way, and I'm wondering if any of my fellow geeks out there could help me out.
1. The LCD screen, over time, for some reason, has developed dark, ripple-like blotches around the edges. Im wondering what a cheap, effective fix or replacement to this would be.
2. One of the internal fans in my laptop started making a god-awful loud noise. We disconnected it, and keep the computer cooled down externally. How would I go about getting a replacement fan cheaply?
Oh, and the big issue here? For some reaon my AppleCare plan has expired. OI.
Maybe I could get financial help through school? Or maybe if these problems are bad enough, look into getting a new computer? On that subject, out of curiousity; Does anyone know a way to get an apple, but pay MONTHLY for it?
Oh, and let's throw a WoW question in this for good measure. If I WAS to get a new computer, would I have to buy a whole new disc of WoW to install it? x_X

Posted 18 years agoSo, after months of going "Psh, Id never play that, blah blah blaaaaarrrr-" I've joined the addiction (Or Horde, that is.) And have started playing World of Warcraft. ... And I have to tell you, I have a problem. I started playing 3 days ago, and every night since I've dreamed about my characters life.

Regardless, I find it fun, and it's a nice distraction from the problems in life. I'm currently working like hell on Pokemon contest prizes and soon to be homework, and in between that I'm giving my wrist's a rest with WOW.
If you'd like to know about my character, WELL. Her name is Redell, and she is a Tauren hunter who's skills are currently skinning and leathercrafting. But if I can, I may switch over to cooking and herbalism. I just reached level 10 yesterday, and am wondering how I can get pets - Anyone know? It'd be a real help.

Commision Sale & Updates in General
Posted 18 years agoAs for what is going on right now in my life, there are a few things.
I'm planning my yearly traditional trip to Salem, MA on Halloween night. (So if you're going to be in the area, let me know: It would be nice to meet ya!) I'm being a pirate lass this year, and my mate will be captain hook. ^_^
I dropped my photography class for this term, Thank Gods. I hated that class, and was not getting along with the teacher at all. I'll take it again with a different instructor in January.
I plan to continue working at Nashoba Valley Ski Area as a Ticket Sales girl or Ski Lift Operator during the winter part-time.
I just found and started reading the brand-new sequel to David Clement Davies' "The Sight", "Fell". I nearly orgasmed when I stumbled upon it in Barnes and Noble. xD I highly recommend it and any other book by the anthropomorphic mastermind Davies!

My Mother is a f*cking whore
Posted 18 years agoIt's finally happened. My mother has gone behind my father's back and filed for a divorce. Claiming she wants half of his "millions" of dollars. We're living on table scraps as is. A dog that needs to be fixed, but we cant afford it, my college is on the edge of me dropping out from financial problems, my grandmother is $10,000 in debt, and we cant even afford a fucking lawyer. FUCK IT.
I'm calling on all my friends, who have ever cared, to be there if I need you as witnesses in the upcoming court date. I want to drive my mother into the fucking ground. You guys know she has never given a shit about me, my dad, or my boyfriend. She treated you all like shit. That she goes out of her way to royally fuck everyone she comes in contact with.

But anyways, it's a dark navy 1987 toyota camry. It's got some rust here and there; but it was $500, so I'm not complaining. It's my first car. :3 Anyone know any good websites that have interesting car accessories? I'm looking for Nightmare Before Christmas, Pirates of the Carribean, dragons, wolves, or anything just awesome kinda stuff. I wanna make it spiffy. =D So if you know a neat site, send me a link!

Also: I start work t Witch's Woods on Friday. I'll be the greeter for the haunted house. :3 I had to write my own little script of how the mansion became haunted and why exactly there a mummy running about the place. I have to have it memorized by Thursday - Woo! :D Come see me!

Posted 18 years agoYay! I got the job at Witch's Woods! I'll probably be working in either the haunted house or Castle Morbid. I'm so ecxited! ^_^ It will be nice to get some money in, as well as scare some people. :D If you're in the area, stop by!
Also, I seem to have developed this odd, rather large... hole, in my top left, very back tooth (I think it's one of my wisdom teeth); out of nowhere. It's weird. I brush my teeth ALL the time, and don't eat that much junk food really, so I have no idea where it has come from. Any ideas guys? Or experience with a similar matter? The only thing I can think of is that it either got chipped, or a cavity developed really fast. At least it doesn't hurt at all (sense I don't have dental insurance. *sigh*). Just... odd. o_O; Apologies, if I've grossed anyone out - just curious.
