Life Update
Posted 10 years agoI haven't been on FA for quite a while now, so I thought I'd drop a line as to why, in case anyone's actually interested. I do still go through my submission inbox, but rarely post.
About the time I made my previous journal, my Kitty & I got pregnant with our 2nd child. Quite by accident, but not undesired I assure you. People had been asking us for a long time if we were going to have another, so the answer became yes by default. We have since discovered that it's another boy, which thrills our little Nikky to no end, & even though there were some problems in the 2nd trimester, they have corrected themselves & I will be able to deliver naturally & not have to worry about a C-section. He's due mid Dec.
Because of the impending child, we have been rather focused on finding an actual house to move into before the end of March 2016. Our apartment has us locked into a term until then, & although we can leave any time we choose, we're still liable for the remaining balance through March. We'd rather not pay on 2 living spaces at the same time if we're only actually in 1 of them. But if we can manage to get a house with a move-in date for Feb. 2016, then we can do a slow move for Feb. & March, & make sure everything's clean & all that w/o having to rush through it all with a new-born.
So I've been having to get all kinds of financials organized & ready to take to the bank to get the pre-approval, & also go & see some houses physically to try & make a determination. Fortunately, our Nikky started Kindergarten this past Aug. so we have a couple of days each week where we can just drive around & look at places we're interested in w/o having to keep an eye on him.
On top of that, we're now down to 2 ferrets (Tika & Shuto) & 1 cat (Precious). We lost our ferret Bella on May 23rd to an unknown internal problem the Vet couldn't figure out, & Bandit on the 1st of Sept. to Insulinoma & adrenal failure. She passed in her sleep peacefully on our couch after having a wonderful morning of play with Shuto & myself. They were 2 of our 3 rescues, & all 3 are buried together now, with markers on 2 of them. We're going to make a personalized one ourselves for the 3rd. However, because of their passing, Nikky knows about & understands what death is at age 5. That's good & bad I supposed, but he knows now why we tell him not to play at killing things/people.
We do plan to acquire more ferrets, but not until after we get moved into a house & have made sure it's properly ferret-proofed. Shuto has made it into the neighbor's apartment twice, & Bandit actually got outside & went wandering for 3 days before she came back home. We'd rather not go through something like that again if possible.
I think that catches you up on what's been keeping me from writing any more stories, although I have a few stored in my mind for when I get the chance to actually sit & type them up. Until next we meet, later critters!

If you wish to post this journal, it's been requested that you title it, "I'm afraid of __ out of 72 fears"
if you get more than 30, I highly suggest counseling
if you get more than 20, you're paranoid
if you get 10-20, you're normal.
*if you get 1-9, you're difficult to frighten.
*If you get 0, you're fearless.
YAY! Something's accurate for once! I am difficult to frighten!

Reading Rainbow!
Posted 11 years agoQuite possibly the BEST thing to ever happen in my lifetime!

I know the goal's already reached, but I'm going to contribute to this as well. I remember this from when I was young, & once StarTrek TNG happened, & I realized who it was, I liked the show even more! YAY LeVar! Burton!

Another person needing assistance
Posted 11 years agoNothing too major in the asking, but it is a major undertaking!
Being cat & ferret people, we understand the need to ask for help sometimes. Even $5 is appreciated for this purpose.

Someone FANTASTIC Needs Help
Posted 11 years agoThere's very few I'd push to help like this, & she's one of them:
http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/...../#cid:40274727
Long story short: lots of bills, little income, NOT asking for donations. She's got stuff for sale - cool stuff! And more to come, if she follows through on the auction thing (to be determined). Links in the journal.
Please help me help her, if you can. Thanks so much!
My FAVE pic by her is this: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/5867245/

Only 3 Days Left!
Posted 11 years agoPlease people, help this amazing sculptor/artist out! He needs less than L800 as of right now in order to make this round come to pass. I REALLY like these pieces, since I'm kind of a Dark Heart myself, & they'll compliment my original set wonderfully.
Besides, who doesn't want an Apocalypse Pony? XD
https://www.kickstarter.com/project.....ble-top-gaming
If you're not familiar with Kickstarter, here's the scoop: If you make a pledge, & the goal is reached, then your payment method of choice is billed ON THE DAY the project ends, whether or not it's funded before then. When the project ends, if the goal is not reached, then your pledge amount is returned to you, & you never get billed/charged. If the goal is reached, then you get whatever it is you opted for in the pledge, unless you simply pledged a cash value. The sponsor will contact you via email (Kickstarter or otherwise) for specific info bits if needed (exact mailing address, etc.), & you get your item(s) a while later.
This particular person works with you if you receive a broken item (like I did), & is very diligent on keeping up with his pm's. He responds extremely fast to emails he receives, & gives exact answers to any questions anyone asks.
Thank you to all who help this amazing artist out!

50: If you're single, why do you think you are?
N/A.
51: Would you rather date someone who's rich but a douchebag or someone who's poor but a nice guy?
Money has NEVER had anything to do with my relationships. Honesty is what I'm after! So the poor nice guy. (If they're both douchebag's though, I'll take the rich guy...)
52: Are you good at giving other people advice regarding dating/relationships?
I think so, but people rarely listen the 1st time around.
53: Are you jealous of couples when you're single?
No.
54: How important is it to make a relationship official (p.e. on Facebook)?
Not. I don't do facebook, etc., anyway.
55: Would you consider yourself "clingy", "overly attached" or "jealous"?
I know I can be jealous, but I don't think so usually.
56: Have you ever "destroyed" a relationship?
Oh yeah. My last husband!
57: Do you think it's silly to consider suicide because of a broken heart?
Beyond silly. It's stupid.
58: Are you the "dominant" or the "submissive" part in a relationship?
Dominant.
59: Have you ever forgotten important dates like your partner's birthday or your anniversary?
No. Not that I can remember anyway. LOL
60: What's your opinion on open relationships?
It's what we have, & it's wonderful!
61: Who's more important: Your partner or your family?
Depends on the situation. Generally my partner, but exceptions can happen.
62: How do you define "cheating?”
Having an intimate (sexual) relationship with another person w/o your current partner knowing about it beforehand.
63: Is watching porn while being in a relationship inappropriate?
NO!
64: Do you think Valentine's Day is overrated?
I think it's a Hallmark Holiday anymore, so kinda, yeah.
65: Would you consider yourself a "cuddler?”
Depends on my mood. Sometimes.

Want a Realistic Tail?
Posted 12 years agoThen check this out!

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects.....-your-own-tail
They have a lot of options available, but ONLY if they meet their goal by Sept. 12, 2013 of L10,000 pledged. I checked it out for those who are unfamiliar with this, & discovered that if you make a pledge, & the goal is not reached, then your pledge amount is returned to you. If the goal is reached, then you get whatever it is you opted for in the pledge, unless you simply pledged a cash value. This seems to be the best method available right now for moving tails. At least, if you want them to move on their own & in a more natural manner.
Let's all help these people out a bit! I'd like a tail for me & for my Kitty too!

Coolest Parents EVER!!!
Posted 13 years agoAnybody who pays attention to Yahoo! News has probably seen this, but I'm impressed enough to post it here in my journal.
I think my mom would've had conniptions if my dad had done this for me & my brothers when we were little! Anyway, the little boy riding this home-made roller coaster is only 3, & the coaster cost $700 or so to make. Man, when we move into a house, we're going to be busy!!!

October's Here!
Posted 14 years agoFor the 1st time in about forever, I'm able to update my file!
The new Nikky pic is up, the one with his kitty ears on, and I can tell those interested that my divorce from the angrydragon will be finalized on October 28, 2011. So I'll have my maiden name of Graves back just days before Samhain! (That's Halloween to most of you.) YAY!!!!!!!!!
The exception to this would be IF he was able to come back here from wherever he fled to in August & pay the courts ANY money at all. The judge said as far as the court's concerned, since he's paid ZERO money, even though he was there for the 1st hearing, he technically hasn't shown up at all.
I told people I'd get to the winner's circle. I'd just be taking the longer route to get there.
(I really do like it when I'm right about things like this.)
And just in case anybody's wondering this year, we're dressing as the Phantom of the Opera. My love will be the Phantom, I'll be the Angel of the Night, and Nikky'll be the little cymbol-playing monkey of the Phantom's. Only without the cymbols. You know how difficult it is to find those things in miniature???
Happy Haunting to All of You!

I Finally Have My Son with Me!
Posted 14 years agoI'm sorry I've been absent from FA for almost a month, but I was kinda preoccupied with getting joint custody of my son, on top of a schedule change at work. So to those I got Mom's Day well-wishes from, I give a very belated thank you. I wasn't ignoring you, I promise. :)
angrydragon & I had a court hearing for the issuance of Temporary Orders on May 23rd. Since there wasn't already an existing Custody Order, he ruled joint custody on alternating weeks. That is to say, every other week, for 1 week, I have physical custody of Nikky, & on the weeks in between he does, starting today. i was disappointed at 1st, 'cuz it wasn't the outcome I had wanted, but for the info he had, I think the judge ruled fairly. Within 24 hours, my disappointment had turned into joy.
My work schedule changed for the almost 1st time in almost 7 years. I've been off Thurs/Fri practically since I started with the company, & now I have Fri/Sat off. A couple years ago I had that schedule for 3 months while I was part of the remodel crew, then resumed my original days off. So that gives us both Sat off each week, hence the custodial exchange on Sat. This will work out just fine unless/until I get the promotion at work my bosses asked me to put in for, 'cuz they want me to have it I guess. I'd be replacing somebody who's transferring out the end of June, so I guess we'll see.
I'll upload some more pics later on. Right now they're still on the mem card.

Delayed update
Posted 14 years agoWell, I'm finally getting around to using my PC more for typing, not just lurking. Hopefully that means that soon I'll have the next bit of my Love Kitten story written (for anybody who's interested). The changes going on around me in my life have been causing me to be quite a bit distracted as of late.
First off, I moved out of my house and left my husband. We're going to be going to the courthouse later this week & file the divorce papers. I'm tired of all his lies. 'Nuff said.
I did spend Dec. 24th with my boyfriend & his family, including his grandparents. His nephews & nieces are just adorable, and it surprised us both to find out just how readily I'm accepted, especially as compared to his previous female..........
I did spend Dec. 25th with my husband & son. Nikky was 5 calendar months old that day, and he helped open the 1st half dozen presents. He grabbed the paper & held it in place while I turned the boxes over to rip the paper. He loves the swing my mother got for him, & the walker my husband got him. The boom box I got to play the CD I got for him is still in the box, but he did listen to the CD through the computer, and he seems to enjoy it. I know I like parts of it. (Burl Ives: Twinkle in My Eye)
I spent New Year's Eve alone in our apartment, but that was OK. I got to watch 3 1/2 movies I've been trying to watch for forever now, so it was good. Plus a few other things I got to do *cough, cough, ahem* just for myself. Then my boyfriend & I celebrated the New Year's arrival properly.
I have noticed that I'm not grinding my teeth in my sleep all the time now, so apparently I've finally made the right choice. I only regret that I didn't make it sooner. Now my son will have to suffer as well, & that was NEVER the intention.
Stupid humans & their lies.
Anyway, enough for now. Until next time.
EDIT: Since somebody on here decided to be a rat and 'tattle' on me to my future X about this journal, I must make something absolutely clear. By 'my son will have to suffer as well' I mean this: He doesn't get to have both Mommy & Daddy around him all the time, and there are frequent arguments when they are. Not as many now as there used to be, but still some. Mommy however has been 'suffering' for over 3 years now; that's how long I've been trying to get the divorce from him, or get him to help me out like a proper husband should have done. THERE IS NO PHYSICAL OR MENTAL ABUSE OF ANY KIND GOING ON WHERE MY SON IS CONCERNED. If my future X would have given me the divorce in November 2009 like I tried to get from him, then Nikky wouldn't have to deal with only seeing Mommy for a few hours at a time.
Clear enough??????!!!!!!!!

Nikky & Sasha
Posted 15 years agoWell, Nikky just turned 2 calendar months on the 25th (which makes him 10 weeks old tomorrow/Sunday) and he saw his Dr. again this past Tuesday. He now weighs 10 lbs 12 oz, and is 23 inches long. Remember, at birth he was 7 lbs 2 oz and 20.25 inches. The Dr says he's right on track for his age, so everything is going just fine there. She had to give him a prescription for his thrush (which is basically a yeast infection in the mouth), but said that it happens to almost all babies, especially if they breast feed (which he is). The infection is caused by perpetual moisture, so the inside of his lips being coated with milk most of the time is prime retail space for thrush. And not to worry. Other than that, he's still my perfect little offspring. His next appointmet is Nov. 30th, so if I don't update before then, there will be one shortly thereafter.
Not that anyone really wants to hear about this, but... I'm down to 3 ferrets now. We lost Sasha to old age on the 19th. She passed peacefully in her sleep, and had spent the morning with her boyfriend Caramon in the hex table. Hubby made a coffin for her the following morning, and she is now buried near to Mystyk beneath the dead tree. I still need to get the vining roses to plant for her, but everything else is done. Nibbler is now my only female ferret, and Dimitri scared me half to death yesterday because he was sleeping SO soundly. But he's starting to eat more again. He was getting REALLY skinny there for a while. We're thinking it had something to do with Sasha preparing to go. But all 3 are doing better now; they're starting to jump around and play more again, so that's good. Anyway, sleep peacefully our little sweetheart. We all love you. <33333

Baby Announcement
Posted 15 years agoOkay everybody!
I know this has been a bit delayed, but my mother and her husband were in town for the past week, so I haven't been able to log in to ANY of my accounts to let people know the wonderful news. I had my baby last Sunday, July 25, which was 1 day earlier than predicted. His name is Nikola Arutha. He was born at 1:13 pm, weighed 7 lbs 2 oz, was 20 and 1/4 in long, and had a 13 cm head. Apparently I did really well for my 1st baby: I only needed 1 stitch, and that was a 'just in case' thing from my doctor 'cuz of my anemia; and I didn't scream like a banshee. I did however dislocate my husband's wrist. That was kinda cool. Anyway, I have posted a picture taken at the hospital, so he's less than 24 hours old. There are many more, much better pics, but I have to wait about 2 weeks before the ones we had taken at the photo studio come in. THOSE are some beautiful pics. I'll be sure to get them posted once they arrive. In the mean time, enjoy this one. And again, I'm sorry this took so long for me to get done.

Now in Week 36 of Preg!
Posted 15 years agoSaw my Dr. today, and all is well. Am still hanging around a 25 lb weight gain or so, which is just fine, pulse and everything is hanging steady, so good there too. Baby's heart rate is in the 140's, which is normal, and uterus is 36 cm, so exactly where is should be.
All my friends at work held a shower for me last night, and I got so many wonderful things for Nikky. And a cake which could put the average sugar ant into a diabetic coma! But it was beautiful and delicious, and all the little clothes were just so adorable. <3
Will be off work for the next 2 months now. Maternity leave. But will be online here and Gaia much more often now. Timing may be irregular, though.
Anyway...
Next Dr. visit this coming Tuesday. Until then...

Most Recent Dr. Visit for Baby
Posted 15 years agoWent to see my Dr. yesterday for my baby boy, and got the wonderful pleasure of having to do the glucose testing thing. The fruit punch they give you tastes a lot like flat Shasta Tiki Punch. But I'll only hear back from them if there's something wrong. They took 3 vials of blood: 1 for the blood sugar thing (aka gestational diabetes test), 1 for the anemia test (which I already know I am) and one for something else I can't remember. Then I get to go back this coming Monday for the fabulous RhoGam shot since I'm A- and he's O+ blood types. Yay. (Note the sarcasm here.)
According the my Dr., I'm a little over 26 weeks along now, my uterus is 26cm long (which is where it's supposed to be), and I weigh a whopping 150lbs. That means I've gained about a pound a week since I got pregnant. At least I know in advance that I won't be keeping the weight on. I tried last year to gain a few pounds, maybe to be about 130 or so, and succeeded in gaining a whole 5, which was gone again inside 2 weeks. I suppose it'll be beneficial later in life. Just like my oily hair and skin. Oh well.
Anyway, sorry I haven't been doing a lot of writing or anything for a while now. I actually haven't been doing much of anything aside from work, sleep, and watch TV. My ferrets tend to fall asleep on me when I'm laying on the couch, and Nibbler tried to nurse on me yesterday evening. That was really strange; she licked the nipple first, then latched on gently with all 4 fangs and tried to get some milk. Unfortunately for her, there's no milk yet. She'll have to wait another couple of months. But I will get back to writing some time later. For right now, I'm going to go raid the fridge and see what's good on TV tonight.

Posted 15 years agoHappiness abounds!
Went to my 2nd ultrasound appointment this past Thursday and found out all the good news about my little home-grown project. (hehe) I'm carrying a perfectly healthy little boy who's about 14oz or so, and all the measurements are showing that he's progressing normally. My due date of July 26th remains unchanged, so that's good news too. Hopefully he'll be born before my birthday of July 30th, so we'll be able to be at home on my b-day and celebrate as a family.
Anyhow, hubby posted one of the ultrasound pics on his FA account. Here's the link:

No, the part that makes him look EXTREMELY well-endowed is not actually that. It's his leg folded up to his chest. You perverts.
We're naming him Nikola Arutha. Nikola from Nikola Tesla the inventor (of AC power and a bunch of other cool stuff). Arutha is the 3rd son of a king from the book series by Raymond E. Feist. (He winds up being "The King's Buccaneer" (book title, btw) and is just really cool all the way around.)
Going to go and enjoy my baking now. Bye!
