First entry in quite a while. Big news.
Posted 3 years agoHi there! I know it's been a while, but I'm here to explain why and also.. announce something I suppose :D
So, to keep it short and simple.. I have not been feeling the best in the furry community lately.. due to personal reasons I have been kind of veering off of bigger groups, new interactions and developing new friendships. I have also neglected my FA page because of it. I still make music and all, but this site just doesn't seem to interest me as much as it used to.. you know? Not to mention it's not exactly the best place for music oriented folks :P So this might be the last entry you will see from me here, at least for a while.
And on that note, I'm also quite excited to say that those who are interested in keeping up with my life and my music can follow me on Twitter at labradike, AND I've also been working on redesigning my small discord server to get it ready for my (sort of) official music alias launch! :D Going forward I'll be releasing music as MTL for the most part (which is Mike the lab so.. you get the idea :p) I'll be posting a link for it on my Twitter so stay tuned!

Turning 30!
Posted 4 years agoSo.. it happened guys! My twenties are officially over, and I'm turning the page on the book of life :D
I'm actually strangely excited about that. I don't feel old or different in any way. I'm just happy to be here and thankful to be alive :P And though I wasn't very active around here lately, I have some pretty cool things coming up in the near future.
Obviously there's a lot of music and art, but I also want to get back to streaming on twitch regularly and get a working VRChat avatar. Oh yeah, I hang out in VRChat now :D look me up at MikeTheLab if you want to hang out :)
There's probably more going on that I forgot to mention, so feel free to ask about anything in the comments :)

2021 Q2! News and stuff.
Posted 4 years agoHoly shit time flies by real fast! We're already halfway through April and I kinda neglected my FA account for a while.. So now I'm here to fix that mistake and write some news!
First things first, I still make music! I just haven't posted much because most of it is being used on my streams as background music. I'm also open for commissions :D

2021 Let's Go!

How are you all doing? I hope that despite an immense struggle and pain that 2020 was, you still had a safe and happy holiday season! I wanted to take a minute to write down a few things as a bit of a follow-up to my last major journal from a few months back.
In case you somehow didn't notice, Dog Days is alive and kicking both here and on my SoundCloud :3 I can't express how happy and thankful I am for all the support on this project! It actually got me to fulfill my last year's resolution so I feel extra proud of that too :D
There will be some cool art coming up this year too! I have some amazing ideas (some of them might not be very safe for work :P) that I need to see come to life so expect some of that!
My new PC is fully set up and I can safely and efficiently make music again! I'll probably post a little something as a celebration of my return to working several hours a week (at least!)
Streaming is still a very much WIP project! I'm still waiting for confirmation with my ISP regarding the whole process of connecting my neighborhood to the superior and almighty fiber connection :P
I'm going to be opening 3 slots for commissions soon! Prices are 30 Euro per piece at this time. And I'll be making some free tracks to be used on your Twitch streams or YouTube videos throughout the year!
This year, my resolution will be to make and release at least 12 tracks. I want to double my last year's number and see how everything pans out :)
And last but not least, I'm curious to see what your resolutions and plans for 2021 are! I also want to thank you once again for all the support and love you send my way! We're close to 700 watchers here and approaching 70 followers on Twitter! labradike in case you forgot ;)

Life Update
Posted 5 years agoI swear I suck at making interesting journal titles... but anyway!
Hey guys! It's been a while. A lot has happened over the course of this summer, and most of it was honestly really bad..
I want to thank you for all the support and kind words I've received from a lot of you. It was really helpful and heartwarming. I'm not exactly "back" to being my usual self even though I really try to stay positive. I'm fully aware that nothing will ever be the same again, but we have to be strong and keep going forward.
And so I wanted to take some time to bring you some good news this time. In case you're not following me on Twitter ( labradike where I've been posting a lot lately) here's some stuff that's currently happening in my little corner of the world :)
1. The first album I've ever made, called Dog Days, is finally finished! It's got 15 tracks in a style of lo-fi, or at least it's my understanding of the genre, in a form of 2-3 minute loops (with quite a few surprises sprinkled throughout) I'm not sure if I'll be fully releasing it to the public since it was a commission project, but once the details and bits are fully discussed with the commissioner, I'll let you know :D
2. I'm currently making big, hefty plans towards upgrading my PC! While the current machine isn't exactly bad, I want to stay on top of things both in terms of entertainment (next gen gaming and streaming[?]) and my musical workflow (recording and rendering audio, loads more space for sample libraries and overdose of RAM and CPU for new plugins and effects! [And streaming?!]) So while I'm in the process of 'migration' from one machine to another, no music will be done. I know I said I might be taking commissions after the album is done but you'll have to wait for that just a little bit longer ^^
3. I mentioned streaming because rumor has it that I might (finally) be getting access to fiber internet connection! This would allow me to be even more open and in touch with you all, assuming you'd even be interested in watching my goofy butt be bad at games or hit a bunch of notes together in a harmonic way :P Let me know!
4. This is the last but definitely not the least important point of this journal entry. The future of commissions. While I'm fully aware that FA isn't exactly a music oriented platform, I don't get too many offers as it is. (and I'll probably get even less after posting this xD) But working on this album was extremely rewarding (and a tiny bit frustrating at times, as all creative work can be) to my overall experience as a music producer and musician. And because of that I have made a decision to increase the price for a single track to 30 Euro. The price is negotiable, but it won't be lower than 20. And in case of multiple tracks order or really complex stuff it can go up (per track) I promise I'll create proper terms of service post at some point :D
That's all I can think of for now! Once again huge thank you for supporting me through ups and downs and for taking the time to read this long ass text XD My hand is about to fall off so I better stop rambling xD

Going away
Posted 5 years agoIt's not very easy to write this post and I can't get myself to write all details but before I disappear for a while (at least commission and artwise) I have to share really bad news..
Last Tuesday, merely minutes after I came back from the park, my mom's condition took a very gruesome turn.. The ambulance took her and no one in my family has seen her since.. (mostly because of covid restrictions)
All we had, was one phone call per day, telling us nothing but bad news.. one day at a time..
Pretty much nothing but pain and agony she has to endure..
Today they told us that they can't keep her in any longer, but she can't come back home either because she needs 24/7 care and special equipment we can't have..
And instead of letting her rest and pass easily, they're taking her to a facility, where she'll basically die alone and in enormous amount of pain.. All because it's illegal in here to go on your own terms..
Two years ago, when her well being took a drastic hit, I was petrified that what happens now, will happen.. And knowing that there's nothing that can be done, and that she's trapped out there...
It's just too much...
I'll be back at making music and being my usual self.. I just don't know when..
I love her so much and I'm so.. so sorry that I can't help her...

2020 Plans and stuff

It's been a Hwile since I wrote one of these things (mainly because I'm bit lazy but also barely anyone reads these xD)
BUT! I wanted to let you all know what's in store from me and my music for 2020 ;)
My plan is to release a minimum of 6 full tracks (will be more if I get commissioned ;))
Commission prices are changing slightly. I feel like I've gotten a bit better last year so it just felt right to amp it up :)
I MAY start streaming on Twitch or Youtube in the Summer if Gods of Fiber connection smile upon me :P
I'm working on a public discord server for my followers, fans and friends! :D (more details soon)
Aaaand I think that's all the news! If there's anything else I forgot to mention or something you want to know about, feel free to ask me here in the comments :3

End of Summer update!

Time to write some stuff about...stuff! As you probably noticed, I haven't been very active with songs, art or anything around here. Summer was a bit heavy for me (especially July) so I took a big step back from most things and I feel a LOT better now. I'm excited to jump back into music and socializing and I can't wait to make some more stuff for y'all to listen to and hopefully enjoy it with me :D
Other than that, I have a few really nice commissions coming up within the next few months so stay tuned for that too! :3
Anything else I forgot to mention? Hopefully not, but if I did, let me know in a comment below :3

Getting older, life update etc.
Posted 6 years agoIt's been a while since I just sat down to write to you all about what's been happening, so let's change that.
I'm turning 28 in exactly 7 days :) It's kinda crazy to think about, considering that I've been in this fandom for over 10 years :P Time flies!
You may have noticed there hasn't been any music posted for a while. The reason is that I decided to take most of this Summer as a ''time off'' to work on my somewhat neglected mental health and improving myself a little. I still make short songs for myself now and then, keep my software updated etc :)
In other news, I've also started off the process of saving money to move to a brand new house that'll be ready in about a year or 2. It may seem like a long time but believe me, it's not ;) In this new place, I'll be transforming my living space into a soundproof studio/lounge with incredibly fast internet connection and air conditioning.
What it means is that I'll finally be able to properly stream making music, shenanigans with friends on games like WoW, Minecraft, Tabletop Sim etc. and completing video games to 100% (the last one is kind of my new hobby. Being a disabled gamer is a challenge all by itself, but being a disabled gamer completionist? I honestly haven't heard of anyone like that before ;))

..then I had quite stressful end of the year AND very challenging beginning of 2019 with health issues and a small job shredding my free time and motivation..
..but last night, right as I was about to go to sleep, I forced myself to write two small chord progressions. I was literally passing out every so often..
..today, I couldn't stop thinking about last night, desperately trying to remember what the fuck did I do..
..so I opened my software, booted up my most recent project, which I apparently called ''Pianoshit'' and..
..needless to say, I HAD to finish and render it because it was the first time in MONTHS since I made something I did not instantly hate..
..I'll post a preview within the next few hours so you can tell me if it's even worth releasing ;)..

Bad news (music update)
Posted 7 years agoI'm afraid I have some bad news guys..
I won't be releasing my first EP anytime soon.. My perfectionism got way out of hand and the end result was that both tracks and project files got overwritten and ruined by my endless attempts to ''improve the songs a little''
And now, with the vision of having to redo them all and tons of stress and frustration because of it, I think it's a good time to take a few steps back, deep breaths and a short break from music (hopefully it'll not be for too long)
