Posted 11 years agoMy computer is bluescreening several times a week at complete random. I don't want to get a new one, though, because that means having to get Windows 8. I don't know what to do.

Posted 11 years agoOK, so I finalized the color palette for my character, and it's my new avatar. Now I'm wondering, what would you guys think if I did a pixel art combo deal? The combo comes with an overworld NPC sprite (4-frame walk in 8 directions) and a text box bust like mine which would be in the range of 96 square pixels. If I were to do something like that, how much would you guys be willing to pay? And if I were to make a fully playable overworld sprite? Or platform sprites? What do you guys think that's worth? Or should I just do auctions?

Posted 11 years agoMy Pandora got busted. I'm on my friend's comp to tell you all that I'll be away for a while. I'll miss you all. Hopefully my PC will be back soon, but Geek Squad JUST got the parts they need for it, so it may be another week. I'll be thinking about you guys, and I can't wait to see you all again.

Regarding fursuit/convention/personal photos.
Posted 12 years agoOK, not gonna name any names here, but this guy posts a journal saying he's pissed off about people posting artwork that was neither made by them nor for them by someone else, that they're just playing proxy and posting stuff for other people, usually for attention or just to say "Hey! Look what I found!" Now, I can agree with this guy whole heartedly... if he wasn't such a freaking hypocryte!
He's upset that FA is getting flooded by third-party posters, and what does he do? Posts hundreds of pictures of himself in his freaking fursuit! You know what pisses me off? When I post a piece of art and immediately it's washed off the front page by a flood of fursuit posts! This is an art site, not Facebook. Taking a hundred pictures of yourself in the same fursuit over and over is not art. It is not art. It takes zero effort, half the time it looks like crap, and it's just not interesting in any artistic sense. What's worse, these people have fans. And I don't mean a few, I mean there's a freaking fanbase for each of them. You pick an artist of decent quality, no, artists of exceptional quality who haven't risen to uber fame for posting a fox jizzing himself every other day, and compare them with someone who sits around posting himself in the same damn fursuit almost every single post in their gallery, and I guarentee you, the guy with the photos will have significantly more watchers.
So people actually enjoy this shit? And it's not just "watchers" who do this, it's actual artists doing it too. So people enjoy having their work wiped off the front page and never given a chance for attention all because someone had to take thirty pictures of themself at a convention. Not to mention the people who are in group photos, so you know you're gonna see that same photo several times around the site.
I am all for the by-you-for-you rule idea, I love it, but for God's sake, can we do something about the photo spam? It's not artistic photography, it's just some guy with a cell phone snapping a hundred pictures of himself and getting famous, then complaining that he's seeing too much of the same thing. Wake the fuck up, people. I can not be the only one seeing what's wrong with this. How can you honestly say there is no freaking paradox involved in that manner of thinking?
I urge you, no, I BEG you all, help me get the admin's attention on this. To anyone out there who's ever had their stuff denied a fair chance at being on the front page because some asshat posted a ton of pictures of himself, help me do something about it!

Posted 12 years agoSo, yesterday I told how my GameGadget came back in the mail. Kitsunechao mentioned the GG site was taken down, and I figured, "well, I still have my manual override file, so I can at least play games off the SD card." So I get home last night, hook up my GG, and I notice it feels lighter than before. So I open it up and, lo and behold, THEY DIDN'T GIVE ME A BATTERY FOR IT! How am I supposed to play it without a battery? And there's nowhere that sells the type of battery I need; as far as I know, it's unique to the GG.
So, I go on Wikipedia to see if they have any news on what's going on, and I find this little gem: http://www.videogamesinteractive.co.....rs-way-of.html Let that be the rest of this journal.

Posted 12 years agoMy phone contract is ending today. I can't say when I'll be getting a new one. Even if I do, there's no guarentee it'll be unlimited data, so I won't be getting online to chat if it's that way. I'm sorry I haven't been around much anyway and that I've been so distant. I wish I'd spent more time with you guys, but there's not much I can do now.

Gamegadget can suck my game gadget!
Posted 12 years agoSeriously, people, don't buy it. It's a barely legal scam is what it is. The support team takes soooo freaking long to reply that I swear they are timing it on purpose so that by the time I FINALLY got them to give me the information I needed to get my broken unit replaced, the warranty ran out a couple weeks after I sent it off. And how long does it take to get to England by mail? Apparently more than a couple weeks, because I've heard nothing from them, and I sent it off over a month ago. I'm telling you, it's a scam, so if anyone here was looking into a Gamegadget, DO NOT BUY IT!
That being said, now that I've decided to screw GG and move on, I'll no longer be producing games that are for a platform limited to 320x240 resolution, so I'll probably look into making higher fidelity sprites. After all, there's no point in making a 320x240 game for PC, it just looks bad, especially if I'm going to put it on Steam. The Steam popup panel would take up most of the screen. So then, I'm at least going to do 640x480, at minimum.
Considering that, I may just hire someone else to do the sprites for me, since there are plenty of spriters our there who are better than me, and I will need to focus on programming. Or maybe I'll do Flash art. Who knows. I've got a long time anyway, considering I've set no deadlines for myself. Or, heck, maybe I'll just do 3D games with 2D physics that are made to feel like a 2D game. I'll look into that later.
But yeah, people, DO NOT BUY THE GAME GADGET!
