Nelphy Peace out furries!A life underwater
Posted 13 years agoSince this is my first ever journal I thought it might be appropriate to talk about my career. I am a scuba diving instructor which gives me the chance to travel to various tropical locations teaching and generally larking about under the water. This is the good life my friends. No more stuffy offices for me, my office is the coral reef I dive on. I quit college (aka high school) after just one year because quite frankly, I couldn't care less for what they were trying to teach me, and most of my teachers were so boring that I would often fall asleep in class.
At this point I was already a scuba diver, so when I turned 18, I traveled to Turkey and did a 7 month internship to become an instructor (7 months in the sun compared to 7 months sitting in a classroom with rain pouring down outside? Yeeeeah, no contest there). Now, 4 years later I am currently working in Lombok, Indonesia on one of the best coral reefs in the world. And with my new camera, I am working to record as much as possible.
This is my life and I wouldn't have any other. Sure the money is pretty shit (I barely make enough to live on) but who cares when I'm doing something I love? The work is also hard, with lots of carrying of heavy equipment the diving in general is tiring, but I'm happy to say that even after the hardest day, I can fall into my bed and sigh with contentment.
