Posted 15 years ago<Summary: I'm moving and will have a new song posted tonight>
First of I'm sorry. I was supposed to have music posted and regardless of reasoning I should have posted something by now.
I'm packing currently, I'm moving on Saturday (which happens to be a special day for me, I get to spend it moving house, yay)
I will post something tonight but other than that I wouldn't expect an update till mid-next week. sorry for the inconvenience.
*the following is a rant detailing why I haven't posted and whining about my lack of sleep*
So I should have had stuff up, but I don't. For this I'm sorry. I had planned out my days and everything was fine... until my boss called me in on all but one of my days off and had me work amazing shifts,. Notably one day he had me close shop, an eight hour shift ending at midnight-thirty, and asked me to come in at five the next morning(supposed to be my day off) for two hours. Due to the highway closing down for construction and the length of my commute I just stayed there for the four and such hours, waiting for the store to open. Then he wouldn't let me go for a good six hours... that's more than two.... I wonder if he realizes just how much overtime he's been having me work?
anyways, thanks to that my sleep schedule has been ruined (doesn't help that he changed me from coming in a 10:30 to 7:30 randomly on my normal days the following week). In addition I have some life changing choices on my plate and a possible live gig I'm trying to prepare for. I don't know if I want to do a cover or something original. It doesn't pay, but the word of mouth from it may open other avenues and I'll be working with a vocalist I've never even heard sing before so I'm more than a little worried about the endeavor.

anywho.. sorry for wasting your time and I'll have a simple piece up by day's end.

It's gonna take a while though... I'll keep posting stuff as the mood takes me (read: I'm inspired) but I'm reserving my "better" stuff until I can make it sound as good as I can possibly make it. Trying to find the reason to draw again but picking up the pen is getting harder everyday.. >.> I tend to get more or less disgusted at the difference in views that my head and hand have. :/ andwho. Maybe I'll force some sketches out of my hand and try to get back to my post-a-day thing.....

Posted 15 years agoSo.... after a bit of a hiatus I'm back, and more musically focused. I've learned a lot of things and will be putting this knowledge to good use as soon as I have the funds to get the equiptment I need to apply my knowledge. Until then.... another WIP.
"Why?", you ask? Because I want it to sound good and have only just recently been informed why my stuff sounds GREAT in the studio and like a muddled MESS elsewhere. Measures are being taken and formats are being changed, but the long and short of it is I was using the wrong equiptment for the wrong job. (or rather, the RIGHT equiptment for the Wrong job).
I've learned a lot in the last few days in regards to music, eq, mixing, mastering, mic-ing, and even just recording in general and I've found out that to get where I want to be with my music, because I'm quite picky with what I'm willing to call "finished", I need to throw down some serious cash for the stuff I want to work with.
Is it pricey? Yes. Do I make a lot of money? No(ha). Are there other options? Always. But the important part here is that I write my music from the heart. I throw absolutly everything I've got into it. So if I have to wait another two or three months so I can get the gear I WANT to bet the sound I WANT to feel that I've put everything that I can possibly put into it. I'll do that. In the meantime, expect WIP's and instrumentals with few parts. Those I can put out in a satisfactory manner and not feel that I've cheated my audience by cutting corners.

Posted 16 years agoFixed my computer... managed to recover most of my files.
Fixed my pay. Had a routing error or some crud like that at the bank... whatever. Now I have enough to eat at least.
Hung out with a friend who makes more than twice as much as I do so he bought me lunch. Funny thing is, I can never get this friend of mine to hang out normally. This time he went out of his way to help me out... huh.
Today was .....weird. I need some sleep. I'll post at least a picture tomorrow. Already got something started.
Fixed my pay. Had a routing error or some crud like that at the bank... whatever. Now I have enough to eat at least.

I woke up this morning to great news....not.
In this order:
1) My computer was mysteriously on. (I always shut it off before I go to bed to save money)
2)It was displaying a cheerful blue screen with white text informing me of a completed memory dump.
3) I went online to check my account to see what I've got to live on, (after losing so much money I'm really hurting finacially) and found that I have been credited a little over $17 for this paycheck.... for a grand total of $20.55 in my acount.
".............................................."<--- (sound of me staring at screen)
Excuse me while I scream.
I don't know the extent of the damages from the legendary Blue Screen of Death... and for right now I don't want to know. I'm going to draw for a bit to vent.. But I can't promise anything... not even the songs I was working on, at this point.
Hope you're all having a FANTASTIC day!

Posted 16 years agoSo I guess I've returned to my daily routine. I hope it will prove good for me and not a fair-weather friend. I modestly ask you who veiw my works and read my journal to enjoy my peices and hopefully we will see some sembilance of artistic creativity and refinement, or failing that, improvement, as we venture futher into the year.

Hey, look. A submission!
Posted 16 years agoMy life often seems to be like the "behind the scenes" section of a movie. It has it's cool bits but all in all I generaly feel like I'm the loading screen for someone else's (undoubtedly) much more remarkable life.
Anyway.... I wrote my last submission about four hours ago, and that's what I was feeling when I struck pick to string. Hope you like it, I kinda think it's crap. But, hey, they can't all be jems.... unless you're awesome like that.
I need a bass.

Posted 16 years agoI had planned to start my daily submussions in earnist today but due to recent events I may not acheeve my scheduled goals.
The following is a rant about my last few hours if you don't want to hear[read] me b*tch and m*an then just skip to the last paragraph.....
Ya see, thankts to some "friends" of mine I spent the last few hours losing a lot of sleep, pacience, and moiney. keep in mind that this started after a full day of work, with me leaving to meet up with them at around 5:30pm and not getting back to my house until 11:57am the next day
Long story short, or at least the highlights, I got invited to a party, I decided not to drink because I figgured everyone else would be too shortsighted to imbibe lightly, We went to a nice returaunt first and not everyone had to money to pay for thier meal(it was a really nice resturant in thier defence... prolly out of thier usual price range, but the planning party didn't factor in party pricing or tip or tax), oh... but I just got paid...$90 gone. Then we go to a club, I get dragged onto a dancefloor and then grinded on while the grinder's signifigant other watches on, not my idea of a good time. then I take previously mentioned grinder, previously mentioned signifigant other, and previously mentioned grinder's sibling to previously mentioned grinder's sibling's signifigant other's dorm because they're all falling down drunk.... oh and I held hair and comforted them as they threw up. a lot. off and on. repetedly. for hours. all three of them. -_-
Okay, now it gets fun. I'm in a new town (cause that's where the resturant and the club are), Stranded (cause we carpooled to save gas so my car is 37 miles away), the onlyone in the dorm room awake, and bored out of my skull. I sit there for 6 and a half hours while the rest of them sleep it off, then grab the grinder and grinder's signifigant other and drive them home because they're still tippsy and in hangoverland. Oh... but before I can drive them home we had to get the car from the parking garage.... and the ticket to said garage was lost... so I had to shell out another $25 because I'm the only one coherent, with money, and without the ticket we get charged the maximum pricing.... Then the hour drive to thier houses due to morning traffick cause it's 8am by now and then I walk back to my car and drive another 45min home..... and that's the short version.
I was just supposed to go to dinner and dance a little.. then come home that night... not spend 3/4 of my paycheck and spend all morning caring for a bunch of winos
Anywho... I'm going to get some well-deserved sleep.... this was basically my venting the frustrations of my day..... bottom line is: I'll try to get something in tonight.... but don't hold your breath. and for the record, I had planned to record a pretty peice on my 12-string today... that's not happening anymore. just don't have the energy or inspiration to finish it... or even start at this point.

Posted 16 years agoYou all have my appologies. To everyone who actually is watching this account I am sorry for the tardiness of my submissions. truth be told I should have had them done by now but though the flesh is willing, the spirit is weak.
I could go on about the unfairness of my job or attempting to rush genius or any number of a myriad of things. But what it all boils down to is that I am not content with my place and lot in life and I'm allowing that to affect both my art and music. I will try harder to improve my life and will try...no I WILL get some satisfactory submissions up in the near future. I'm going to bring my sound guy into the studio and will have at least two songs up by the end of the week. and by end I mean the end of the work week, friday night/saturday morning.
once again I'm sorry this is taking so long. I will resume my daily arts soon.

Posted 16 years agoI just had musical and technilogical genious happen similtainously.... the resulting explosion, though realatively small in diamiter, nearly killed my ears. But I have survived to bring you good news! as a direct result of this audio-explosion have finished writing a song I've been working on for years.
it just, I dunno, clicked. No one has ever heard it before now so it should be something really unexpected... especially looking back at my previous submissions.
So barring difficulties with the percussion I should have it recorded, mastered(poorly), and uploaded tomorrow. If worst comes it'll be the next night. I might even get another thing I was tossing around out there. The little tid bit I last supplied is still on the list but needing..."oomph"... prolly from a 12-string and a floyd rose.
Until then, this is the fouse wishing all happy days for the new year!

=^_^= I'm totally updating my journal and responding to comments via my cellphone. technology is awesome. I just hope my 'unlimited data plan' is. I may need to upload my art via mobile if things keep going this way.

Posted 16 years agoFor those who actually watch me... you have my appologies.
I must refrain from posting for a bit while I work this interweb thing out. My connection has taken on a new proctice to aggrivate the hell out of me. Instead of just going down it's looping. it's up for 25 sec tops, then it dies, reboots, cycle begins anew. until I can safely upload my art, I will refrain from uploads entriely. because the process of uploading a picture or sound file only to have it curropted mid trasfer is more trying than the 2 hour long creation of the peice to begin with.
once again... I'm sorry for the inconvienece and lack of art..
and lack of spell check.

Posted 16 years agoRouter is fixed. Never was broken, but this is why I hate letting other people try to set up my electronics. I had to re-do EVERYTHING. (not an exageration in the slightest). I had to upgrade firmware. Reinstate factory defaults. Update drives. Change the frequency. Adjust the physical placement. and this was before I broke out the screw driver.
Regaurdless, I'm back.

Posted 16 years agoRouter failed... epicly. couldn't get on for all of this morning. So I couldn't update....
*sigh*
Black Friday sucked... big surprise there, I got home around 2:30 in the morning after starting my workday at around 4 the previous morning.... now I'm going to go eat... new arts if my connection is intact later on tonight...

Oh yeah!! My local electronics store just got in some usb to midi adapters!!!! Time to have fum with my keyboard!!!!!!
