"Economics lesson, kiddies.
Art, as a consumer product, is a LUXURY ITEM. If you can't afford it, it's because you, like most people in the world, either do not earn enough money to purchase luxury items or choose not to spend your money on something that is not essential to your life.
Complain to anyone outside this fandom that you can't afford art. I dare you. Watch them stare at you in bewilderment, wondering WHY the hell you'd expect you could. There absolutely IS no difference between what some people are calling professional artists outside this fandom, and artists who work professionally inside this fandom. If you aren't bothering to require a contract with rights and deadlines with the artist you work with in this fandom, that is your choice, not the artist's. Most artists in this community already have Terms of Use. If you haven't bothered to read them, also your fault.
Why do you expect us to perform at a professional level if you aren't treating us like professionals? Most commission rates paid inside this community are a pittance, unsustainable as any type of income source. If you want higher quality work, you need to pay for it. Pay a hobbyist, you're going to get hobbyist rates. Don't expect that a person who cannot live on their wage will be able to commit the necessary time towards honing it to a professional level.
And stop whining. I haven't bothered responding to a one of the entitled, spoiled, bratty little comments on my recent meme message, so this is a blanket statement. Just because YOU personally cannot afford something does not mean that item, which in this case is a unique, one-of-a-kind creation crafted by the dedicated hours of someone who has been practicing their craft likely for their ENTIRE LIFE, is not WORTH the money you cannot afford to pay. What it means is that YOU CANNOT AFFORD IT. And how is that a surprise?! Most people in the world do not own original art! Let alone original art drawn SPECIFICALLY FOR THEM. The fact that so many furries own not one, but multiple pieces of original art is mind-boggling, and has spoiled the whole of us into believing we all deserve to.
Art is not your electric bill. Art is not food, or gas for your car, or even an education. Pay your damned bills, and stop complaining that you can't afford art BECAUSE you have to pay your bills. Or because you don't make enough money. Art is not necessary for you to live. Enjoy the insane amount of free art you have access to, if you can't afford to buy the custom kind.
And stop assuming artists are goddamn millionaires, please. I'm not boasting when I say I personally am likely one of the most well-paid artists in this fandom. And if you could all see the way I live, you'd understand WHY that isn't a boast. I have a fifteen-year-old car, live in a busted up old house, spend money ONLY on my business, bills and food, and have to budget myself extremely carefully throughout the year to keep up with the rent. And I'm doing WELL, as far as furry artists go. This is anything but a posh gig. I can't speak for most furry artists, but I commit, on average, 8-14 hours a day to work, I get no vacations except for conventions, which anyone can attest I work through the entirety of, and I'm still constantly running ragged and wishing I had more time in the day.
We do this as a career because we love it, guys. Believe me. . . almost anything else would be easier. Go hug your local furry artist.
I won't bother reading comments on this journal, honestly, because I have no interest in taking part in the shitstorm. I hope this at least got through to some of you, though. And to all those who already understood all of this. . . thank you. I'm aware it's just a few bad eggs spoiling the bunch, and that most of you have functioning brains."

28. Is there anything sparkly in the room you’re in? Does stainless steel count? If so, surgical tools.
29. Have you ever been in a castle? Oh yes.
30. Do you rent movies often? I miss renting movies.
31. Who sits in behind you in your math class? I've never had a math class.
32. Have you made a prank phone call? Surely at some point.....but maybe not now that I think of it.
33. Do you own a gun? Yes.
34. Can you count backwards from 74? I've counted backwards from one hundred, so I'll take that bet and raise you.
35. Who are you going to be with tonight? My roommate, I'm sure.
36. Brown or white eggs? Brown, preferably.
37. Do you own something from Hot Topic? A few things.
38. Ever been on a train? You can't live in Europe and not take a train somewhere.
39. Ever been in love? Yes, but lets change the subject.
40. Do you have a cell-phone? That's a boring change of subject.
41. Are you too forgiving? That's more like it. Um...to certain people I am. To others, I look for an opportunity to push them away.

65. Do you like your life right now? It's a little uneventful, but all in all I can't complain at all.
66. How often do you talk on the phone? Never. Not being able to see a person when I talk to them makes my stutter flare up.

72. Do you have a job? Yes
73. Can you handle the truth? Did I ask a question?
74. What are you wearing? Are you hitting on me, number seventy four?

Posted 13 years agoPossible commissions/requests?
Posted 13 years agoIt seems every time I think about maybe trying my hand at taking some commissions or more specific suggestions I end up doing a picture that I'm not so proud of. Anyone willing to tell me if it seems like I'm being too critical of myself and am at a good point to try and do something like this or not?
And I don't mean you overly positive folks. You'd tell me I could take commissions if all I was drawing was stick figures. XD (You know who all you are, and you know I appreciate that positiveness)

Any idea what to draw?
Posted 13 years agoI've been on a drawing streak lately, but am feeling a little dry when it comes to ideas of what to dry. Any suggestions?

Apologies to everyone
Posted 14 years agoHey folks. I apologize to anyone who's been wondering if i've been up to anything. I had a rather large slump into depression a couple of weeks back, but it seems to be gone for the most part. I can feel it sort of lurking around the house waiting to pounce on me all over again. So far though...I seem to be able to keep it away. Anyways, it seems that drawing gives it an express route right back into my head, so I've given up on trying to draw anything for the time being, or at least anything that I'll try posting on here. Some of it may end up in my scraps though. Maybe I'll just start putting all of my darker things into my scraps. who knows.
.....I'm not actually writing this to you folks, am I? I'm just writing to put it a little more into perspective for myself. O.O

Posted 14 years agoA rant on music naysayers...(Dont waste your time on this)
Posted 14 years agoSo, i need to say something about music. and since I'm a bit sick of this topic, i may come across a bit heated.
I've seen a lot of people ranting about music lately. They all say the same thing. "Music is the same old shit redone by different people. All originality is gone." These people only have around five albums in their collection which are usually very generic. Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Beatles, Hendrix, etc. They're prone to weed induced rants on why music these days has gone so downhill that they stick to their old tride-and-trues.
My beef with these people (mmm, beef) is that their only way of listening to music seems to be local radio stations. If you ask me, anybody who thinks that they are going to hear anything original on the radio needs to wake up. The radio needs listeners and has to try and appeal to a broad audience. Half of them never seem to have considered trying some sort of satellite radio. Or Pandora...its free for gods sake. Personally I've found it to be a great way to discover new bands. Bands that are underground and some bands that aren't signed yet. Original bands? NO! do you realize the likelihood of there being some new original sound out there? With the amount of things that have been done in the past, the hell that comes with getting a band together that doesnt eventually want to slit eachothers throats over creative control, and then the seemingly impossible chance of getting that band heard by many, its a wonder ANYONE makes it.
And lets face it, a big reason why these people only want to listen to original music is so they can call themselves original. (As if getting high and listening to Pink Floyd is original) You want to know how to be original? Be the only person born in the past 50 years who listens to Helen Kane. Or if your into the more "evil" side of music, try Slim Whitman...that man is more terrifying than Marilyn Manson, Lady GaGa and Justin Bieber combined.
Or...and this is the most useful advice I can give...Stop complaining about originality and just enjoy music. There's a ton more out there than whats on the radio, and a great majority of it is some pretty groovy tunage. And for the love of god(s) and all things holy, try not to rant to everyone you know about "their terrible taste in music".......Especially me. (I'm gay. You can't expect me to have the best taste in music. XD)
and to anyone that says that singers today like Kesha and Katy Perry have become too slutty, need I remind you of Elvis and Marilyn Monroe?

Corbin Bleu's hair is a gutter monster...
Posted 15 years agoSo tonight I came to a conclusion. Me and Echo were watching High School Musical (shut up, its a great laugh) and I decided that Corbin Bleu's hair isnt made of hair at all. It's actually some strange animal that was found crawling along the side of the road and caught just before it was able to scurry down into a drainage pipe.
How this ungodly, monster of a creature came to be in Corbin's ownership is beyond me. All i have decided is that it's name was to become "Mr. Shy" And would live atop Corbin's head for the remainder of its years.
The sound mixer guy of the High School Musical movies must have had a hard time editing out the sounds of the creatures hisses and growls as it became agitated from all of Corbin's hyperactive dance moves. And need I mention how frustrating it must have been having to redo so many takes after these dance moves frightened the creature into such a state of panic that it released its bladder all down Corbin's face an back.
Just say that in your mind a few times..."A creature named Mr. Shy wetting Corbin Bleu's head"........Those are words that shall get me through many days to come.
(P.S. I was tired when I wrote this)
