Going To See About Getting My Legal Name Change Tomorrow?
Posted 9 years agoI totally forgot this was tomorrow lol. Anyone who has been through the process know what I should expect? We're going to try to work with the transformative justice law project to see if they can help me along. Also going to see about getting a fee waiver. We might have to wait until next month which is fine, I'm honestly happy to be moving the process along. Thanks for reading!
Goosebumps on my face?? also other T changes
Posted 9 years agoI'm a month and two weeks on T (tomorrow is my 6th shot) and I've noticed my face gets goosebumps now? Mostly happens when I'm listening to music I like or I'm happy or cold. I've never had them there before so it's weird. I think it might be because I'm losing weight in my face and getting some facial hair growth/my pores are starting to open up? Also holy shit, I stink. Have I mentioned that? It's really strong to me but apparently Allen can't even smell it that much.
I'm totally getting tiny black hairs and longer blonde hairs on my chin and sides of my mouth. It seems like the hair growth is happening really fast! I also have a ton of happy trail hair now, right below my belly button. I've only ever had like, two hairs there pre-T! Everyone is commenting on how deep my voice has gotten (obviously hasn't gotten THAT deep yet, but there's a noticeable change especially over the phone). My voice doesn't keep creeping back up to a higher pitch anymore either lol. And my jaw is squaring out a bit, you can really see it if you compare my pre-T pics to more recent ones.
As always if you're trans and need to talk to someone, my notes are always open. :D

1 Month/4 Weeks on T! (maybe tmi?)

Physical changes:
Not sure if it's because I was sick a while back and have residual phlegm or what but my voice is doing funny things. It used to hurt my head to talk in a lower tone for too long but it's a little easier to stay in a lower pitch now. My throat feels tight sometimes like when you have your shirt on backwards and it pulls on your throat. I did my fourth shot today and they definitely get easier every time. On my T day last week I straight up forgot to wipe down my thigh before injecting but that was my fault for rushing myself. Nothing bad happened though, don't worry. I'm a LOT sweatier and hungrier all the time. Like, voracious. I wake up really sweaty most mornings. I have more energy too. Workouts are a lot easier and I don't take as long to cool off/stop being sore if that makes sense.
Sex drive is waaaay up and I was already a pretty active person in that area. It's ridiculous, if I move a certain way or just think about sexy stuff it's like, I have to go take care of this now. It used to be only once/twice a day and now it's like four+ times a day lol. Very sensitive down there, noticing the tiniest bit of growth. Super weird. No changes in facial hair but I'm itchy EVERYWHERE mostly my face, chest, armpits and thighs though. I sometimes get really bad headaches but maybe it's because I'm sweating more and need more water because of the gym. My arms and shoulders are gaining mass and I've slimmed down around my stomach/thighs (probably not a T change could be from working out).
Emotional/Mental changes:
Allen says I'm a lot more calm and composed now which is great because I used to cry and get emotional over everything because I care too much. We went to see Zootopia and I totally would have been bawling by the end (or by the first scene, it was really cute and sad) but I just kind of thought about not crying and didn't. My face/body gets REALLY hot when I get angry now which makes me feel like the human torch or something. I don't push arguments/argue as much as I did pre-T. Also a lot of my dysphoria has gone away. It's always going to be there but I've only felt that heart-wrenching, painful dysphoria that I used to feel every day only once in the whole month I've been on T. Just knowing that I don't have to wait to be on T anymore and going to the gym regularly is helping. I'm more patient and able to think about things clearly.

Posted 9 years agoEverything went great! I wasn't really allowed to record but that's fine. I did it by myself (my doctor walked me through it) and hesitated for like, a minute because.. You know, sticking a needle into yourself makes your body go like, "WOAH, YOU SURE YOU WANT TO DO THIS?" but I did it!! I'll be writing down any changes I see/feel. I'm hoping that going to the gym will help too. I've noticed my biceps are bigger since I started working out at the gym and I've been craving sweets a lot less.

Posted 9 years agoNot my actual birthday but I get my first T shot tomorrow!! I get two birthdays now! haha
I'm really excited! I'm not as nervous as I thought I'd be. It's a huge life change (for the better) and I thought I'd be a lot more jittery about it. Maybe it hasn't sunk in yet. I'm still really nervous about putting pictures and videos of myself up right now. I'll definitely be recording the whole process tomorrow though. Maybe when I've been on T for a while I'll be okay posting stuff like that.
The next step is getting my legal name change and then top surgery once funds are available. Maybe I could do a fundraiser/GoFundMe for half of what I need? Wish me luck!!! Play Dark Souls 2 (SOTFS) With TheEmperorTamarin!
Posted 9 years agoAllen is playing Dark Souls 2 with voice chat on, friends request him (FitProAllen) to help with PvE. He's always able to help other people but can never get a summon sign when he needs one. :P He's playing on PS4 btw.
Edit: he's almost always playing in the evenings so even if you can't play now you could still friend request him. :)

Transition Update
Posted 9 years agoSo my order for my T/supplies was placed and it's on it's way. I'm tracking it now and it will be arriving TOMORROW! Which means I get to set up an appointment for next week so my doctor can teach me how to inject! IT'S HAPPENING! I might record it and maybe make videos tracking the changes (physical, mental, emotional). I'm taking a lot of pictures too. Sorry if I'm rambling I'm just really excited and kind of tired. :DSlow Month for Art

Posted 9 years agoEverything looks good and I'll be able to start T as soon as it gets to me! Hopefully in 2 - 5 business days. They pharmacist called me and we set up the payment and I'll be going to my doctor so she can teach me how to inject. I'm so excited!!!

Another Transition Update!
Posted 9 years agoWent to the center this morning! Very friendly staff, everything about it was quick and painless. My doctor is super friendly and she took my blood today. I even got a cute space band-aid. Hopefully I'll be hearing back from the pharmacy about paying for my injections around Monday and then they'll send it all to me shortly after. Then the center is going to teach me how to inject it!!! I'm so excited! Also it turns out the place that helps with legal name changes (comprised of trans lawyers, like, lawyers that are actually trans and not cis people that feel bad for us) also deals with gender marker changes!!! Posted 9 years agoI have my first appointment with the health center on March 2nd!!!! It's only blood work but it's still a big step on the way to starting T (testosterone, if you didn't know :P). After that appointment they will hopefully be able to write me a prescription. They operate on informed consent so I don't have to go to some therapist and prove I'm "really" trans lol. The people are really friendly over the phone and were super patient when I had to call back and reschedule immediately after making an appointment because of a mix up on my part. :3c Either way.. I'm feeling really good and excited for what's coming. I'm not a huge selfie person (I hate being in pictures) but I've been taking a few after my workouts and I feel really good about how I look lately. I also kind of want to be able to compare my face pre-T and after.
If you're a pre-T trans guy in the Chicago area and need to know where to go to start HRT you can note me anytime. We can talk privately about your situation and I'll tell you everything I know about the health center. (They also have sliding scale fees!! There's so much more I could go on about with this place, they're wonderful.) Don't be afraid to reach out and ask for help. The resources are available if you go out and look for them (easier said than done, I know.).

Posted 10 years agoFinally got a call back from what we thought would be someone from the Howard Brown Health Center here in IL. Turns out it's someone better! It was a woman that sets up consultations and recommended us a 'company' (I dk if it's really a company, maybe an organization? we're still looking into it) that can help with name-changes for trans people. It also seems like I'll have to go on T before I get my surgery if I want the best results. I'm already working hard on losing weight and building muscle but T will definitely help that along. I don't mind, maybe it'll give me some peace of mind while I wait for top surgery. I've always wanted facial hair. The only problem is that the place that will help the fastest and easiest with my HRT process is a fucking women's center so it'll definitely be painful and dysphoria inducing having to go there for treatment. I'll get through it though, being uncomfortable for a little while now is worth being able to truly live after it all. Wish me luck.

Posted 10 years agoEver see a design that looks a whole lot like yours and instantly panic? I just saw a D.A.D. that looks quite a bit like Aspen (like, almost exact same markings and colors except Aspen has some spikes on his nose and cheeks and a big black stripe on his face and his eyes aren't 'blind'). Like, what do I do? I didn't even create Aspen but I'm really scared to make him into a fursuit now. I'm not accusing the person that created Aspen of copying the design, hell I didn't even know about the one that looks like him until just now. I just don't want people coming up to me and thinking I'm another character or accusing me of theft. :(
Should I change some things about Aspen? Do I note the creator of the other design and ask them if they approve? Suggestions are appreciated.

Posted 10 years agoIsn't it funny how when artists on here make stuff with their art on it through a custom printing company they can never seem to remember the name of the company when someone else asks? They conveniently forget even though they placed an order with the company, still have emails and a box with the company's name on it? Hmm, it's almost as if they don't want other artists knowing where they got it printed.
Like, don't you think it's kind of a crappy thing to do not giving out the company's name and advertising for them, since they clearly do good work and aren't scammers? I'd like to know good places to get my art printed out but .. WOW, nobody wants to share their 'secret' (which isn't even their secret to keep because they're just an artist using a service).
I'm pretty sure giving out the name of the company you've used isn't going to make it so people stop buying your work, calm down. Anyway if anybody knows of a good, reliable printing service that does stickers, lanyards, backpacks, hats, etc. and you've USED THEM BEFORE, please let me know! Posted 10 years agoMy head feels instantly better for some reason. It was way too long before but now it's shorter and a lot neater and I don't have the blonde streak anymore. My head was feeling irritated and I think it was just how my hair was laying on of my head. Anyway I look better now. :P Totally exciting news, I know.
