Icon by Iskra!
Posted 10 years agoEeee! I'm so happy right now! I got a piece from my favorite artist! When I got her note earlier this week asking if I was still interested in the commission, I was worried I hadn't responded fast enough and might lose my spot because I hadn't been keeping up with my FA. Fortunately that wasn't the case. :)
My FA icon is just half of the animation;
Iskra made two different cuts for me that meet the strict FA size restrictions. You can see the full animation here: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/18037323/.
I'd be surprised if I ever change my icon again (except to flip flop between the two different cuts), so get used to it!

Furthemore Recap
Posted 10 years agoHad a great time this past weekend with my friends lafete, ultrahorror, eemamminy, and gmnchampion. Also said hi to flickybird, spiffyfox, and madam-demonessa. Saw many other NoVA furs that I didn't poke because I don't know them as well; I do wish I'd had a chance to hang out with cheesebeagle and tigris but they were busy and I was a little shy. I'll see them around at some of our meets, though.
The highlight of the convention for me was definitely the Chimera Build panel. My friends and I went expecting to watch pre-selected teams putting together 2-hour builds--like Iron Chef for fursuit makers. We got there and they were like "Okay, everybody pick a team and start grabbing what you need!". We stared at each other for a few seconds, figuring out whether we were going to do this, so when we went up to get materials they were pretty picked over. But lafete is magical and put together a pretty decent head (imo) given the time and material constraints (we didn't even have scissors for most of the time and when we did get hold of a pair they were safety scissors) and I proudly wore it for most of Sunday. Here's a pic: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/16719735/ I also had a mini leopard-print tail.
lafete has been interested in making me a suit for a little while now but time (for him) and money (for me) have been in short supply for the past few months. Now that those blocks have been resolved he's going to see if he can make me a partial before Anthrocon. I enjoyed being a griffin so much that I decided I wanted a griffin suit. I came home and started looking at references and stumbled across the most adorable little potoo griffin. I absolutely love potoos (dem eyes!) so I put together a design concept for a potoo-griff fursuit. (http://www.furaffinity.net/view/16719777/)
Last but certainly not least, Sunday was gmnchampion's birthday! I got him a custom patch design (http://www.furaffinity.net/view/16707397/) and embroidered bandana (http://www.furaffinity.net/view/16707570/) of his fursona from lafete's company One True Patch. (Shameless plug: go commission him for a patch of your own! A great way to decorate bags, bandanas, hats, etc.!) We hung out a bit at the con and then (after closing ceremonies ran way over and made me late) celebrated with a dinner at Friendly's.
It was a good first con experience overall, though it was a lot smaller than I was expecting. If my friends hadn't made it I don't know what I would have done the whole time. I'm also making plans to go to Anthrocon now because lafete wants to sell there and we can still get a room if we hurry; I'll probably book that tonight. (Fingers crossed that it's still open.) Really looking forward to suiting there so hopefully that pans out. :3

Technical Difficulties :( :( :(
Posted 10 years agoReally stressed about the state of my iPad repair.
Earlier this week I took my iPad to a local repair shop for a cracked digitizer (the glass touch screen that covers the LCD monitor). When I got it back the home button was effed up. The repair shop was dismissive of the issue because it would mean them having to remove the digitizer again, this time trying to preserve the glass. Not an easy task. Anyway, I took it back to them today and long story short, in trying to repair the button they managed to break pins off the motherboard where the digitizer connects to it. So now they want 3-6 days while they solder the pins back on the motherboard.
Given their ineptitude so far I'm extremely scared of them attempting such a delicate repair, but feel trapped both logistically and financially at this point. Ugh. And to make matters worse I am going through serious art withdrawal right now because my iPad is my only means of creating digital art, and I was in the middle of coloring a piece...

Poll: Renaming A Character
Posted 10 years agoSo I've had this character since middle school. He was a little pink bird who got transformed into a dragon, but kept his small pink wings. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v.....runbrushes.jpg
His name was Chibi and I feel like I should rename him because it conflicts with the name of the Japanese drawing style. Sooo... What do you think? Could/should I just change the spelling and keep his name phonetically the same (Cheebee, etc.) or should I totally rename him? What would I rename him to? Or, do you think Chibi is fine even if it's a bit silly and screams "I made this character shortly after discovering anime"?

Divergent / New Characters Inc
Posted 10 years agoSo my husband and I watched a movie tonight called Divergent. I saw ads on Facebook today for the sequel (Insurgent) and was curious what it was so we checked it out. It was pretty fun, and inspired me to create some OCs in that universe.
I feel like I need more characters, anyway, because I have an idea in my head about getting a partial fursuit before I get a full suit, and I want it to be a different character than the full so that I won't be replacing it with the second suit. My full suit will be a K-line suit of Ryn. I tried thinking who I would get the partial made into and realized Ryn is my only female character right now! Chibi (needs a new name--he was one of my first characters), Avari, Quema, Tief--all male! Not that I couldn't wear a male suit, but I don't really want to be any of them. And besides, all those characters besides Tief are quite a bit taller than me. (Chibi is actually a quadruped but I drew a pic or two of him in anthro form in high school and I made him tall. It's dat dragon neck.) Guess I have a thing for tall, lanky male characters.
So right now I'm thinking of a female wolf Dauntless character (she'll be really fun--tons of piercings and tattoos!), a female Fennec Fox Divergent, and a male Erudite with glasses--maybe a bat? I don't have one of those yet and I really like bats...
Anyone want to help by suggesting names? :3

Let Watson Analyze Your Cognitive and Social Characteristics

I entered in my last few facebook posts until I met the 100 word minimum and these were my results: http://imgur.com/8bN7Mho
I consider myself a pretty open person, but I suppose I'm less open on facebook than I am in private conversations. Still, I'm a little surprised by that low openness percentage. And that intelligence? Pfft. I'm so good at acting stupid I even have Watson fooled. Mwahaha.
Anyway, it's just a bit of fun on a quiet night past midnight. If you take it, let me know what you fed the machine and what came out the other end. :3
