Posted 11 years agoAww yis. Mutha fukin' RPGs.
For those of you not in the loop. HC SVNT DRACONES is a scifi tabletop RPG set 700 years in the future, long after the mass extinction event that drove humanity into extinction. It is unknown what caused their fate - war? Disease? The widespread consumption of pornography and homosexual tendencies the government desperately tried to warn us about? But all that is known is that they are gone, and all that remains are their creations.
One of these creations are the Vectors, a genetically engineered race of uplifted animals created on Mars during humanity's dying days. Using their progenitor's technology, the Vectors have spread out from Mars to colonise the entire Sol system, save one place; Earth-That-Was. Terra's surface is a blasted hellscape, overrun by some nightmarish abomination of flesh teeth. This... thing is the dark side to the GM technology that created the Vectors, and it now occupies earth like a tumour in a corpse.
So, why do I bring this up? Because HSD's author just received a preliminary copy of the rule book, and as far as I can tell, things are looking pretty swell. Which means I'll soon have a copy of my own in my grubby little paws! The system looks super cool, using mechanics very similar to Spirit of the Century as far as I can tell, and I love the lore - and the character gen system. It's really cool to me the way they handle morphologies... it's entirely viable to play as an anthro, or a taur, or even an intelligent feral or a micro or a macro or whatever. Plus, who doesn't love a bit of Sci-Fi?

Other Art Sites
Posted 13 years agoHey there, True Beleivers! Mobius Lee here, with another tale of adventure...
*coughs* Anyway, yes. Long time no post! And indeed, no upload. Just uploaded another peice of art. I havent had any commissions done recently, not because i didnt want to, but due to lack of funds. Still, I decided to treat myself to take myself out of a bit of a sad mood i've been in the last few weeks, which is why you can see the latest adventure of Chezzy in the gallery. Poor guy, i put him through so much. =p
Another thought i've been having was about uploading my art to other sites. I have a DA and Inkbunny account, but neither of them have much art uploaded - or indeed, any at all, for Inkbunny. The DA account has pics that people on DA uploaded for me, and when i started posting here i sent notes to people to ask if i could upload them here. But Inkbunny is a bit more of a sticky problem. I got an account so i could keep following one or two people who quit FA in protest when the big TOS change happened last year, and i use it more these days simply because i dont have the ludicrous amount of watched accounts that i have here. I'd like to start uploading my commissions there, partly to share them and partly because having a user page that's just favorites and no uploads tends to make people think a bit less of you. But i wouldnt want to annoy any of the awesome artists who did a pic for me, if they dont like Inkbunny.
What do you guys think?

Fine, i give up, you guys win =p
Posted 14 years agoI'm hitting Nuke on my journals and submissions. There's WAAAAAY too many for me to realistically get through and the huge number is really daunting, so i give up! I'll start again from a fresh slate. This means that any of you awesome people like
fc32,
reapdri,
felixpath and others too numerous to mention did things like comissions or kennel clubs or adoptions that i'd usually get in on, i've missed it. Sorry guys!
Mainly going this to clear my head, as things IRL are.. less than peachy right now. But hey, at least theres potential for things to get better!

Posted 14 years agoSo Skyrim arrived in the post yesterday. I was holding off on buying it until after christmas because, you know, money, but for some reason for about 3 days only every game store in the UK decided to slash the game's prices and sell it for a mere £20. So i was all over that stuff. The only assumption i can make is that digital distribution meant that all the physical copies werent being bought, and the stores wanted to clear stock before christmas or something.
Anyway, i booted it up and made me a Kahjiit character. Right from the get go, i have to say how amazed i am with the various races. Seeing as Oblivion, the last Elder Scrolls game, basically told you to choose between about 5 varieties of humans and a few humans with pointy faces they really did an awesome job on making every race different from the others, even just the various types of humans. The amount of customisation you can get even within the same race is awesome, too, and you can do it all without having to resort to the mass of sliders most RPG's resort to.
My Kahjiit is super skinny, has those big tufty ears like a lynx, a big ole scar across his face and very dirty fur. Stereotypical adventurer is stereotypical! A couple of adventurers later and i'm loving the game so far. I was actually pretty dubious about Skyrim.. yeah, Oblivion was fun but it did seem to be "going through the motions" to a point, and the last two Bethesda games - the two latest Fallout games - really didnt get me going. Fallout 3 featured a very bleak wasteland, but not one i particularly liked. The people were shiftless and annoying, pointlessly agressive and mistrusting at best and irrational dicks at worst. It just wasnt a world i wanted to defend or explore. New Vegas was slightly better for that, but was such a bug riddled nightmare that i never bothered picking up a copy myself.
Now, Skyrim has it's fair share of bugs, true - i was about 20 minuites in before i encountered the epic rave cow trying to clip trough a fence before shooting into the sky, perhaps to go save their home planet, but those are the only serious bugs i've found so far. The rest of the game more than makes up for it. Combat seems more deadly, and enmies seem to react more to being hit with weapons. Oblivion and Fallout would have to holding down the attack button and bouncing your weapon against an enemies face until they died and the physics turned off, ungluing their feet and sending their corpse careening off whatever tall thing i happened to be fighting on. Seriously, it annoyed me that enemies would happily keep running towards you through barrages of fireballs (or rockets, in fallout) only to loose that last 1hp and suddenly go flying off. They werent reacting to the blast before, so why bother putting in ragdoll physics? In skyrim combat, enemies react to being hit. They flinch and stumble, and you do too. It's not perfect, obviously, but its better.
What's more, they did the one thing i was always asking for, which is making a spellsword an actual viable class. The starting spells are actually effective - you dont need to be a giant magika resevoir to use them more than once an eternity, and they have a decent range to them too. Also,
the Summon Familiar and Flame Rune spells are badass. The story is much more cinematic, too - the fight with the first dragon in Whiterun springs to mind here. I felt epic, but i felt like the NPC gaurds fighting it alongside me felt like they werent just there to be decoration, and they didnt steal the show, either. They were equals, and we killed that thing together. It was awesome.
But my favorite thing about the game so far is the crafting dynamic. No longer is making your own custom items the reserve of very late game high level mages who are bored. You can learn Smithing as one of the first things to do in the game, and making your own items is easyish and quite rewarding. There's nothing more satisfying than walking out of town wearing entirley armour you forged and tempered yourself, and with a trusty old weapon back from the first dungeon that you've kept relevant by reforging it and keening the blade. ALL of the crafting systems are just.. better. Enchanting is easy, but requires you to spend time practicing on smaller stuff to get the good stuff. It's reverse engineering, really, no longer "Level up this school of magic until the numbers say yes." Alchemy REALLY got an upgrade - the number of known properties on ingredients is no longer determined by level, but through scientific trial and error, experimenting to see if it works. Plus the alchemy GUI got an overhaul from Oblivion's awful one. Potions you know how to make are listed, and items you know have the required properties get listed when you select it, and you can just go to "Imma gonna mix a bunch of items together and see what happens" mode to learn more recepies. It's all very good.
So why am i waxing lyrical about a game that everyone who cares about it bought a month ago? Because, well, for the first time in ages, here is an RPG that actually impresses me. It's the first one that's managed to have mechanics that arent awful, combined with a compelling world with amazing graphics and characters and places i'm actually interested in. Im looking forwards to exploring it over the days to come =p

Posted 14 years agoAaand im back again. The trip was fantastic, and i'm really glad i went. It seemed like a bit of a trek just for dinner, but, well, i had great fun :3
Off i go!
Posted 14 years agoJust as a heads up people, im off to visit peeps for christmas this up comming week, so if i dont respond to your messages, that's why.
I always feel a bit weird putting up there hiatus messages because of all the horror stories you hear about people breaking into your house while you're gone because they knew you wouldnt be there, but i'm fairly sure that a) that's bullshit and b) my housemates, who ARE still home, would give them a run for their money =p

'Tis the witching hour. Also, Pimping.
Posted 14 years ago'Tis all hallows eve, and the witching hour draws near. The barriers between worlds are thinning, and the hidden hand makes his moves. He sends his pawns down here to die, and the savage knights protect us, but now they're gone and can't come back. There's worse things than monsters down here, though, don't you believe it. They try to open their eyes and show them the truth, but some can't take it, and their minds snap and they're the luckiest ones of all..
Well, Beasts and Ghouls, it's halloween! I'm celebrating by running a halloween special for my WoD players, hense the little rant up there. Don't mind that :P
FC32 is having a little celebration of his own! The Collar Club is throwing the doors open for a special party, but it needs recruits - both doms and subs! So i'm throwing my hat into the ring! It's a hard choice.. I was tempted to go Chezzy, but since she doesnt get enough love, i think i'll go with Oniko the devlish dom! As for subs, well, once again, Fluffy was tempting... But Charlie doesnt get enough love! :P
Check out the competition yourself, either for bottoms or tops

You have 15855 new messages ( 15064S, 791J )
Sooo yeaaah, that whole "Clearing out my submission stream" thing i was going to do.. That.. that didnt happen.
So i'm getting on that now xD Must resist nuke button...
In other news, the awesome awesome awesome
fc32 recently had a raffle where he picked one of his past customers to win a prize. As a quick glance through my gallery can tell you, i'm rather a fan of his, so that's why i was so surprised to have won! And quite the prize it was, too, $100 worth of credit with him >.> So, that's awesome. Everyone go watch him! Never know, it might be you next time, and in the meanwhile, he does some awesome art! Thanks FC!
EDIT: I meant to ask. I have an Inkbunny account as well, but currently nothing's uploaded to it. It's kind of because, while Inkbunny has lots of nifty widgets that make it more user friendly than FA, it still has the kind of negative stigma associated with it due to the whole "allowing cubs" thing that mean i'm a bit hesitant to get too involved with it. I only got it in the first place because a few of my favorite artists migrated over there after the TOS changes and subsequent DDOS attacks. Still, do you think i should upload my gallery to there? It'll take all evening, and i'll have to email around all the artists asking for permission to upload elsewhere (oooh my gooood that's going to be lame >_<) but looking at my blank page on IB makes me kind of sad =p

I have the lurgy
Posted 14 years agoArgh. Even though i'm not in university this year, the freshers at gamesoc have still given me the fresher's flu. Gagh. This headache is horrible x.x
Yeah that's it, i'm just winging =p I'm looking into my semi-traditional annual halloween comissions atm though. There's a lot of people offering "costume" comissions, most often with the stipulation you need to be female. I'm more after something scary with Joe in it.
...Though, i could totally put him in a bikini and pass him for female, right? :P

Stressful Times
Posted 14 years agoBlimey. So, right when i thought things would settle down, i got thrown into a month or so of... well, hell, really. THe university reassessment period didnt go nearly as smoothly as i hoped, and now my academic future is in question.
Oh well. Ill get through that as it happens i suppose.
Anyway, back when i mentioned that i was up to 40K submissions in my unread submission inbox last journal? Well, i havent removed any since then, and now its up to.. erm.. 10k.
Oh dear.
Well, best get to looking through those =p And the 1k journals!
Jesus guys slow down posting xD Nah, i love you really.

Nuke the Uke
Posted 14 years agoPhew. Its been a long month. Between Resit shenanigans (which STILL arent over), my LARP escapades and a friend comming over to stay, i havent had a chance to check my journals, which is why i was fairly annoyed to see that when i got back i had 30K of them to shift through >.< It got up to 40k today, at which point i gave up and just hit the nuke button. I'm always hesitant to do that in case i miss something cool, like an Interactive Story, but fuck it, i'm not shifting through that many journals, especially since most of them are just people going "Dongs lawl" or "IMA DOING A LIVESTREAM 2 WEEKS AGO". So there you have it =p If i missed something vitally important, that's why.
Back
Posted 14 years agoI'm back, by the way :P The event was really good fun out of character, even if everything went wrong for my charrie IC. Zombie uprisings and deaths in the family will do that :P Still, even if i was wigging out IC I was having tons of fun OOC!
Thanks for everyone in my group for putting up with me :P

Viva Pinata!
Posted 14 years ago"Urgh, I've caught the flu so i'm stuck in the house all day under blankets. At least my housemates are here to talk to. Oh, hey, one of them is playing Viva Pinata on the xbox.. That looks pretty fun! Mind if i play it when you're done?"
*6 hours later*
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN I'M OUT OF SPACE IN MY GARDEN!? I MUST BREED MORE SQUAZZILS TO FEED TO MY BADGECICLES SO I CAN BREED BADGECICLES! HOW DO YOU EXPECT ME TO LEVEL UP AND EXPAND GARDEN SPACE WITHOUT MORE SPACE? AND WHY DO I LOVE THIS GAME SO MUCH IF ALL IT DOES IS MAKE ME ANGRY?!"
To be fair, im not sure i'm playing it right anyway :P Rather than focusing on breeding Pinatas and making them happy, i turned a quater of my garden into a gooseberry grove and convert all the goosberries into Goosberry Fools to sell. Its about 200% profit, so i'm up to my eyeballs in chocolate coins and pissed off pinatas :P

Having a LARP
Posted 14 years agoAaand i'm back! I had a lot of fun, met up with a few old friends and a few ones, and generally made a nuisance of myself. If anyone here was at Maelstrom, thanks for the awesome experience!
In other news, what better surprise to get back to other than arts!
darklordpocky-san,
DrBugaboo and
Rancid all had some art done for me, which is all uploaded, so thanks everyone! Also,
FC32's Kennel Club is up again.. I'd say to go adopt a few of the cuties, but i have my eye on one or two if they're still around when adoption closes, so... :P

Posted 14 years agoOff to my first LARPing event soon - Maelstrom, if anybody around here knows it. I'm a little nervous, if im honest. I wouldnt have chosen to go LARPing normally myself, but a friend of mine is into it and asked me to tag along, so i thought hey, why not. If i'm not a fan of it theres no reason i can't just not attend next time. And if i do have fun then, hey, at least i have one foot in the door already.
At least i'm going to be with a grouple of people i know rather than just diving into it myself. Plus, the character i created as a starter is nice and basic, so i should be at least able to have fun with it. THe only downside at the moment is that I didnt receive some of the background material in time, mainly due to a cockup on my end, so that's probably not going to go well. Ah well.. Im sure I can get most of what i need from hearsay and a borrowed copy my friend has. And if not, well, the guy was gonna play isnt exactly the most world wary anyway =p
Here goes nothing! See you in a few days, if the nerds havent eaten me first. HEhe.

I'm Mighty Thor
Posted 14 years ago"You're Thor, honey, i'm thodding thattered!"
Hehe, oh lisp jokes...
Anyway, got get that birthday journal off my front page and avoid confusion, i thought i'd put up a journal about that new superhero flick, Thor. I managed to catch it today, and i gotta say, it was good fun. It was a lot more fantastical than the other avengers movies so far (and that is saying something for a superhero franchise) but it was pretty good fun to watch. It didnt really do anything unexpected - the plot is fairly simplistic and predictable, and most of the characters are just cookie cutter style - but it's pretty good fun. The fights are all pretty spectacular, and it's fun to see some of the dialog and special effects they came up with for the scenes in Asgaurd.
The film does suffer a little, however, for having a very... boring main character. Not to say that Marvel's Thor is boring, but in this incarnation he is. He starts off the film being brash and kind of unlikable, eager to rush into combat with the frost giants and generally acting like a bit of a child. When he enevitably gets stranded on earth by his pissed off dad, he just goes around being generally predictable. It's never really that beleivable, and it's kind of hard to connect with him as a character. I know it's a movie, but it's obvious that all of Thor's stuff is very scripted and he just seems to go through the motions, really. A fair few characters are completley unmemorable, too - the group of misfits that Thor hangs out with on Earth and his Band of Warriors back on Asgaurd in particular here. The movie seems desperate for us to care about them, and its really kind of hard. The warriors especially here; i get the feeling they were in the comics and needed to be included, but the writers wasnt sure what to do with them.
A lot of characters come out really well, though. Hawkeye has a fun little cameo working with S.H.I.E.L.D., and the Gatekeeper on Asgaurd is particularly badass. He gets characterised more than Thor's buddies, weirdly enough. But Loki really steals the show - he shows a lot more emotion and gets a lot more emotional development than Thor himself. When Thor overcomes his emotional "hurdles" to become a new man we're just kind of told it and expected to just swallow it, but with Loki you actually see it all come to the surface and watch him change for ourselves. The guy playing him was a VERY good actor, and even at the end of the movie i found myself liking him a heck of a lot more than our supposed hero. Not that I didnt like Thor - he didnt really emote enough for me to NOT like him - but I found myself just liking Loki a lot more. Heck, i even thought his plan was pretty sound, even if it was a little.. evil =p
All in all, not a bad film, but not as good as the others. And as always, stay after the credits - Nick Fury is back again with a nod towards an upcomming Avengers film...
Voting and Birthdays: Coincidence? Or Providence?
Posted 14 years agoJust posting a little journal to encourage any other UKfurs out there to head out and vote. Like, now! Right now! =p The Refferendum is important, no matter which way you lean, and a lot of places are having County Council elections this week too, so go make sure that you make the right choice for councillors, too!
In other news, I'm going to be a little busy over the next few days, so if anyone tries to contact me and i dont get back to you for a while, that'll be why. I'm still going to be trying to check in every day regardless, but it's just a contingency heads up sort of thing.
In other news, it's my Birthday, in 5 days! I feel a little childish about how excited i am, but there you go =p Can't wait till it's on, me and my housemates are gonna par-tay!

[HIATUS OVER] Back from the Windswept Hills
Posted 14 years agoAnd i'm back from Spain! Yeah, it wasnt overly fun, though for different reasons than i thought it would be. The actual testing was fairly good, and i had awesome fun in the evenings. The lecturer's partied with us too - in particular, watching them having a drinking contest with some other students before the Professor in charge of the whole thing drank 2l of cider through a straw was particularly memorable.
Unfoooortunatley, the hotel was INFESTED with bed bugs, and i have more than 200 bites over my body. And i had a LONG time to count them all on the ferry ride back. But, hey, at least i got to watch Despicable Me on the ferries cinema (It was a 48 hour long boat trip, so the boat was pretty tricked out to keep the passengers amused). And the duty free shop had a VERY nice collar i was sorley tempted by...
Still, i'm back on FA, and i'm going to get uploading one or two things in the next few hours. Speaking of which, holy crap, FA! I get back and find 2978 new messages waiting for me! This might take a while... Still, thanks for all the favs and watches, guys, and for all the awesome art you've been uploading!

[HIATUS]: I put on my coat and science hat
Posted 14 years agoJust posting this journal as a little update to anyone who actually watches these. I'm heading off on a fieldwork course with my University this week, so i'm not going to be around, all things likley. I might be able to check in if there are any computers as the study centre, but as we've been told to pack light i can't take my laptop with me, so don't expect any activity out of me. I'll be around for this evening, but after that i'm off, so yeah.
I have a couple of comissions in the works, and i'm -fairly- sure i've paid for all of them already. However! If i've been a numpty and forgotten, drop me a note. I'll go through my records when i get back and give you the payment. Sorry for any inconveniences!
Still, by the time i get back most of the stuff i've been waiting on should be done!
Booshie and
fc32's comissions are still in the queue, busy things that they are. They're still taking comissions, so head on over and hit them up!
Fenris49 also has me in the queue for their stuff, but they're super popular, so that'll be a while.
KillCommand is also doing something for me as part of their "Name your Price" comission, they're trying to raise money so head on over and give 'em a hand!
Darklordpocky-san is working on a pic of my gal Manon, and i might upload the WIP of it before i go. And finally,
Max-Dragon is doing something for me too!
...Wow, i really need to stop spending money xD I didnt know i had this many on the go at once. Ah well, thaks guys, you're all awesome!
PS; that long list is by no means me trying to drop a hint - it's as much for me as anything else. Now for me to inevitably remember i've missed someone out.. =p

Bugaboo's Gel Creatures! Also, Art updates
Posted 14 years agoJust in case anyone out there actually reads my journals...
you may notice, the most recent submission in my gallery of my hunky Kat Chezzy being "explored" by a goo gal is by the awesome
DrBugaboo, who drew it as part of their Presketchmission set. There's still a single solitary slot left, if any of you are feeling envious, so go check it out here:

In other news, i've got a few other peices that should be comming in soon.
fc32 is doing a followup picture involving Ain, and i've got another one in the works by
booshie too. Heh. Sorry all you beefcake fans out there, no more of the males in my gallery yet... for now =p

Posted 14 years agoI normally don't do journals, but as I've started properly using my FA account now i thought I might as well start getting into the habit of it!
I just recently got back from the UK's Student Nationals. It's a big gaming event, where Universities and Independant teams get together from all over the country to have fun, play games, raise money for charity and compete to win the coveted Student Nationals and Geek of Steel cups. It was awesome good fun, and i picked up a couple of new games i've been wanting to try out - My favorite so far is SPANC, Space Pirate Amazon Ninja Catgirls. It's fairly silly, and awesome good fun.
I meant to post a journal before i left saying i'd be away for the weekend, but i forgot, so if anyone has been wondering where i've been, that's what was up.
See y'alls soon!
