Please allow up to 2 months lead time. I’m disabled and not the fastest in the world as a result of that, but I want to make sure every piece gets as much time as it needs to be great. If you need something sooner (or later!) let me know and we’ll see if it can be done.
For commissions of $40 or less, payment is due in full once I’m done with your piece. For commissions of more than $40, half of the price is due upon finalization of the rough sketch, and the other half upon completion and delivery. I frequently stream commissions on Picarto, and can send you status WIPs upon request too.
If you would prefer I not publicly stream something (it’s personal, it’s a surprise gift, etc.) let me know, otherwise that’s how I keep myself motivated. It’s just fun.
When payment becomes due, I will send you a Paypal invoice! Please do not just send me money out of the blue! I will immediately refund any unsolicited payments because Paypal can be very weird about digital vs. delivery items, and I do NOT want any account issues. redapeguy has tagged me to do a thing. And then tag 11 people! I can't think of 11 people I actually know well enough to be comfortable tagging on FA at the moment, actually, but I'll be a sport and at least answer the questions...
11 things about me (as if you all care):
1. I have fibromyalgia. It's actually not that uncommon, but a lot of people don't know what it is...it doesn't help that nobody has any idea what causes it or how exactly it works. The short version of the story is that it's a chronic pain and fatigue-causing syndrome. It's not degenerative, it doesn't cause inflammation, and in fact there are no tests at all that can detect it. I should know; if there's a blood test, I've probably had it by now! I walk with a cane a lot, have had to more or less quit working, and I'm currently in the oh so fun process of applying for disability. But, eh, shit happens, right? I live around it as I can. The really shitty part is that it's particularly bad in my wrists and drawing hurts like a bitch...
2. I am ridiculously, ridiculously good at the floppy-rubber-pencil optical illusion. You know, the one where you wave a pencil kind of loosely and it looks like it's bending in the middle? I can do that shit with like...broomsticks. Seriously. It's like, my stuperpower. (Along with being able to find the best produce in a pile using nothing but gut instinct.)
3. I read the fuck out of some Homestuck. And if you don't too, shame on you. I have enjoyed it more than most serious novels I've read and definitely more than any other comic, web- or not. It takes a little time to get going, but once it hooks you, just, make sure you left yourself some time to binge-read it without having to neglect things like work or food or pooping.
4. I have the universe's most awesomeful girlfriend. I know, seriously, Moppy, COULD YOU BRAG A LITTLE HARDER PLEASE, I AM NOT NEARLY ANNOYED ENOUGH YET. But no, really. It is not easy to be pretty happy with life when just yesterday you had to spend the entire day lying down, except for the part where you went to a doctor appointment, because of how much you ached and how floppy and useless your legs were, and one time you tried to lean over to pick something up and the world nearly ended, but at least having all of Monty Python on Netflix made your day sort of tolerable, except for the excruciating pain all the time. But then your girlfriend calls all like, WHERE DO YOU WANT TO GO FOR DINNER, totally knowing that your favorite pizza ever in your ever is also the closest restaurant, and then because you are both tired she's all, LET'S GO TO BED EARLY just to cuddle longer. Except, this didn't happen to you, it happened to me. NEENER NEENER just sayin'.
5. I don't believe in any particular religion. At least not in the usual sense. I sort-of believe in bits of several, and don't mind fiddling about in bits of several others, and I would definitely call myself spiritual...if I had to put a name on it I guess I would say 'eclectic.' Not even eclectic Pagan, necessarily, just...eclectic. I grew up in a not-Christian-but-influenced-by-Christian-culture household and attended church for years and years and years until moving to Japan, where I realized I really didn't even like going to church, nor did I agree with any of the One True Way message they preached. There was a bit of time in college where I mused over the idea of joining one Earth-based religion or another, but it was kind of intimidating and then I started dating a pastor's son...
6. This doesn't stop me from owning a ton of shiny rocks, tarot decks, and various other such paraphernalia! Like, seriously. I have like eight tarot decks sitting on a shelf not even five feet from me right now. And a pile of incense, and a really big shell, and two wands...man don't even get me started about my awesome semi-precious mineral collection. I have sticky sticky collectorhands for stuff like that. Even when I was in church and being told it's eeeeevil and tools of the devil etc etc ad nauseum, I would still dredge through every last corner of bead stores, head shops, craft fairs, and occult bookstores looking for shinies. I am some kind of fucking magpie.
7. I'm just an itty bit synesthetic. I hear music as colors and shapes and patterns and such. It's actually pretty sweet. Heavily auto-tuned music (lookin' at you, Owl City) or chiptunes (CASE IN POINT: have some Anamanaguchi), though, are like RAINBOW-SPEWING KALEIDOSCOPE ACID TRIPS and are kind of distracting. In kind of a cool way, but still, augh, my braineyes, I have to be in the right mood or it's just kind of earblinding.
8. Most of my roleplay characters like...hang out in my head even when I'm not using them. I feel like this is actually super common and nobody talks about it! Seriously, most the people I've gamed/RPed with have this happen too, at least a little. Some characters are worse about it than others...the elven ranger/god of travel was particularly awful about picking on one of my friends in Japan at our weekly ritual of getting curry at the most amazing place ever two cities over. I played a fey bard/diplomat once that I would just let run the show when I had to coordinate a ton of meetings at work. And I can probably blame at least a little bit of my initial feelings for my girlfriend on the gay-as-balls-touching human wizard I was playing, as he had the most ridiculous ingame crush on her warlock for the longest time...they spent so much time together (and we spent so much time together one-on-one RPing said times) that it just kinda ran on until it was a real-life thing. THIS IS ALSO MORE COMMON THAN PEOPLE LET ON.
九：もう日本語でぺらぺらしゃべる。全然無用だけどね…四年間勉強して二年間群馬県に住んでいたと、今何？時々ガールフレンドと一緒サンフランシスコのジャパンタウンに行くとメニュウを読める。さぁ…ちょっと驚くべきがぼくはアニメと漫画とかはあまり面白くないそうだ。（と言うことだけど、やはりアニメ風の絵を描く。）更に何となく日本語で働きたくない。ガールフレンドと最初に日本に会ったから本当に不満を言われない。このようで思うとよく過ぎていた時だった。

Blech. When I was still working my boss brought up some dress code changes and I told her straight up if she mandated skirts I was going to walk out on the spot. She didn't but still, I would totally do it. If I get married again I am totally renting a nice tux and calling it a day. Anyone who doesn't like this may shove their opinion somewhere uncomfortable and rotate it 90 degrees.
11. I'm the world's worst sore loser. I tend to avoid competitive games entirely because I already know that if I lose I will have an overwhelming urge to flip the table or beat someone with a controller or whathaveyou. Collaborative games are awesome, but competing just does...I don't know what to me. Nothing nice. I figure if it's not going to be fun for me and I'm just going to make it no fun for everyone else, I may as well just sit out, so I frequently do. I'm okay with games that don't really reveal the winner until the end, whether through design or just really chaotic gameplay (Small World comes to mind if you've ever played that), but if I have to spend the whole game watching my score lag (AND IT PROBABLY WILL because I don't have a head for strategy) I just get inconsolably pissy.

1. If you are an artist, how did you get into doing art? What's the process that led you to learning how to do it? If not, why do you like the kind of art you like? I dunno, I've been pretty much drawing whatever I want since I could hold a crayon. My mom taught me how to put circles and triangles together into a kitty in order to distract me while I was in my highchair, 'cause otherwise I'd be an ass and bang my sippy cup around. I don't think there's really a process in it for me, to be honest.
2. How did you come to be on this site? Do you consider yourself a furry and what does that mean to you? ...I don't really remember. I know, dull, right? I don't know if I would call myself a furry or not. I have a decided fursona but I don't RP her or fursuit or anything. I have a sort of D&Dsona and a Homestuck trollsona too, but it just gives me more little representative versions of me to doodle depending on which context is more interesting. Although, my nose does wiggle on its own totally uncontrollably if it gets itchy when I'm sleepy, and I run and hide under and behind things in response to loud scary noises, so I guess you can take from that what you will.
3. What kind of music do you like? Music that can make me feel the piece rather than just hear it. It's not limited to just one genre or emotion or artist or anything like that. I like a little of everything, and I like it even more if the colors I 'hear' in it match the emotion that it's trying to portray. ...Which is as wildly subjective as it sounds. Neuronormativity is boring anyway!
4. What was your favorite subject in school? I kind of liked almost all of them, really. Home economics was kind of dumb, but that was mostly because I already knew all the crap we were being taught, and come on, if you can't make a boxed cake mix with the instructions on the back, you are already a failure as a human being! It was pretty boring. I thought I didn't like math because it was FUCK HARD and I was super slow and never quite got the point of calculus, and my friends were douchebags with huge bags of douche and were all "hey, thanks for dropping calc, you were totes holding back the class" after I dropped it 2nd semester, but I think I actually did like it...I just got discouraged. Algebra was awesome. But so was art, and literature, and French, and...yeah I really did kind of just like almost every subject. NERDNERDNERDNERDNERD
5. What kind of games do you like the most? (doesn't have to be a video game) Several years ago I would have said video games, but I have to say tabletop role-playing games. Not that I have seen a table and an RPG intersect in YEARS AND YEARS seeing as I play over AIM, EVEN FOR IN-PERSON RP SESSIONS, but the creative things you can do with an open-ended system and the ability to make up your own setting and characters and events and EVERYTHING is just way better than nearly any canned game you can slap onto a disc. ...that said, I really want Infamous 2 for Christmas.
6. What kind of thing that people do on the internet annoys you the most? Being assholes. Intolerant, loud-mouthed, flamewar-starting, troll assholes. This is actually part of why I like the MSPA/Homestuck fan community so much: they're all incredibly nice people, and being incredibly nice is a highly valued virtue among them. These are people that if you met them in a dark alley in real life they'd just be all, hey did you drop your wallet, I found it but I didn't look in it, you wanna like, grab a coffee or something AND TALK ABOUT THE MOST RECENT UPDATE??? And then you'd be instant awesome friends forever. But then on the other side of the internet you have people bullying gay kids, or straight kids that don't have the 'right' way of expressing themselves, into killing themselves, and just what the fuck, humanity, what the fuck.
7. If any, what kind of clique where you in in high school, and if not, what kind of people did you hang out with? I was kind of a band nerd, but to be honest, my school was too small for real cliques. In a class of fewer than 60, everyone is just too tightly-knit to not know everyone and at least get along with them. The glass houses were built too close together for anyone to even want to throw a stone.
8. Do you have any pets? What are they like? We have a kitty and HE IS THE BEST KITTY EVER EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE HIS NAME IS ABE NO SEIMEI AND HE IS WHITE WITH SPOTS THAT HAVE DARK GRAY TABBY STRIPES INSIDE THEM AND HE GOES "MURR~" LIKE ALL THE TIME EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE but his butt kinda smells.
9. What, if any kinds of alcohol do you like to drink? If not, what do you drink? Sigh. I can't drink much due to the fibro and medications, but I do like a good dark stout or porter.

(I say that, but then I draw anime-style art...) Moreover I kind of don't want to use Japanese on the job. But, I did meet my girlfriend for the first time in Japan, so I can't really complain. If you look at it that way it was time well-spent.)
10. I haaaaaaaaate skirts and dresses. I mean, it's fine if other people want to wear them, go for it, but there is no way in some several hells that I am going to put one on. Shaving gives me far too many ingrown hairs (literally hundreds every time) and my pain tolerance is stretched thin enough already to even try to deal with that, and besides that I just don't like how they feel. Blech. When I was still working my boss brought up some dress code changes and I told her straight up if she mandated skirts I was going to walk out on the spot. She didn't but still, I would totally do it. If I get married again I am totally renting a nice tux and calling it a day. Anyone who doesn't like this may shove their opinion somewhere uncomfortable and rotate it 90 degrees.
11. I'm the world's worst sore loser. I tend to avoid competitive games entirely because I already know that if I lose I will have an overwhelming urge to flip the table or beat someone with a controller or whathaveyou. Collaborative games are awesome, but competing just does...I don't know what to me. Nothing nice. I figure if it's not going to be fun for me and I'm just going to make it no fun for everyone else, I may as well just sit out, so I frequently do. I'm okay with games that don't really reveal the winner until the end, whether through design or just really chaotic gameplay (Small World comes to mind if you've ever played that), but if I have to spend the whole game watching my score lag (AND IT PROBABLY WILL because I don't have a head for strategy) I just get inconsolably pissy.

redapeguy...1. If you are an artist, how did you get into doing art? What's the process that led you to learning how to do it? If not, why do you like the kind of art you like? I dunno, I've been pretty much drawing whatever I want since I could hold a crayon. My mom taught me how to put circles and triangles together into a kitty in order to distract me while I was in my highchair, 'cause otherwise I'd be an ass and bang my sippy cup around. I don't think there's really a process in it for me, to be honest.
2. How did you come to be on this site? Do you consider yourself a furry and what does that mean to you? ...I don't really remember. I know, dull, right? I don't know if I would call myself a furry or not. I have a decided fursona but I don't RP her or fursuit or anything. I have a sort of D&Dsona and a Homestuck trollsona too, but it just gives me more little representative versions of me to doodle depending on which context is more interesting. Although, my nose does wiggle on its own totally uncontrollably if it gets itchy when I'm sleepy, and I run and hide under and behind things in response to loud scary noises, so I guess you can take from that what you will.
3. What kind of music do you like? Music that can make me feel the piece rather than just hear it. It's not limited to just one genre or emotion or artist or anything like that. I like a little of everything, and I like it even more if the colors I 'hear' in it match the emotion that it's trying to portray. ...Which is as wildly subjective as it sounds. Neuronormativity is boring anyway!
4. What was your favorite subject in school? I kind of liked almost all of them, really. Home economics was kind of dumb, but that was mostly because I already knew all the crap we were being taught, and come on, if you can't make a boxed cake mix with the instructions on the back, you are already a failure as a human being! It was pretty boring. I thought I didn't like math because it was FUCK HARD and I was super slow and never quite got the point of calculus, and my friends were douchebags with huge bags of douche and were all "hey, thanks for dropping calc, you were totes holding back the class" after I dropped it 2nd semester, but I think I actually did like it...I just got discouraged. Algebra was awesome. But so was art, and literature, and French, and...yeah I really did kind of just like almost every subject. NERDNERDNERDNERDNERD
5. What kind of games do you like the most? (doesn't have to be a video game) Several years ago I would have said video games, but I have to say tabletop role-playing games. Not that I have seen a table and an RPG intersect in YEARS AND YEARS seeing as I play over AIM, EVEN FOR IN-PERSON RP SESSIONS, but the creative things you can do with an open-ended system and the ability to make up your own setting and characters and events and EVERYTHING is just way better than nearly any canned game you can slap onto a disc. ...that said, I really want Infamous 2 for Christmas.
6. What kind of thing that people do on the internet annoys you the most? Being assholes. Intolerant, loud-mouthed, flamewar-starting, troll assholes. This is actually part of why I like the MSPA/Homestuck fan community so much: they're all incredibly nice people, and being incredibly nice is a highly valued virtue among them. These are people that if you met them in a dark alley in real life they'd just be all, hey did you drop your wallet, I found it but I didn't look in it, you wanna like, grab a coffee or something AND TALK ABOUT THE MOST RECENT UPDATE??? And then you'd be instant awesome friends forever. But then on the other side of the internet you have people bullying gay kids, or straight kids that don't have the 'right' way of expressing themselves, into killing themselves, and just what the fuck, humanity, what the fuck.
7. If any, what kind of clique where you in in high school, and if not, what kind of people did you hang out with? I was kind of a band nerd, but to be honest, my school was too small for real cliques. In a class of fewer than 60, everyone is just too tightly-knit to not know everyone and at least get along with them. The glass houses were built too close together for anyone to even want to throw a stone.
8. Do you have any pets? What are they like? We have a kitty and HE IS THE BEST KITTY EVER EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE HIS NAME IS ABE NO SEIMEI AND HE IS WHITE WITH SPOTS THAT HAVE DARK GRAY TABBY STRIPES INSIDE THEM AND HE GOES "MURR~" LIKE ALL THE TIME EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE but his butt kinda smells.
9. What, if any kinds of alcohol do you like to drink? If not, what do you drink? Sigh. I can't drink much due to the fibro and medications, but I do like a good dark stout or porter.

Actually I went back to the US, got divorced, came out of the closet, moved to the West Coast to live with my girlfriend, and picked up a chronic fatigue illness.

Posted 18 years agoYup. I'm working through...well...more accurately, waiting through a huge long creative drought. It's not exactly what I usually call spells like this, which is creative constipation, because that suggests that there's something actually left inside to be bottled up. This is just...nothing. It's disconcerting to not be full of noisy buzzing colorful pushy ideas. It's like being full of, I dunno...dust instead.
The more worrisome thing at this moment is I have work tomorrow, which is teaching 5 classes, and I've almost entirely lost my voice and have no way to get it back short of hoping for a miracle. Oh, what to do...I have no idea. Hot tea's not working. And cold medicines like Benadryl and that sort of thing fuck me up one side and down the other. Antihistamines turn me into a drooling idiot faster than a whole bottle of wine will, and the wine makes me happier in the long run. But ONE of the two is legal to have at school, and guess which one it's not.
Well, one of my friends has taken to drawing her D&D characters sorta-anthro style (not full furry, mostly ears/paws/tail but cute as all getout) so maybe I'll be a sheep instead of a catrabbit for once and give it a shot. Then again goodness knows I already play stuff that IS anthro like kobolds and catlings...the vast majority of the rest have animal features at least (antennae/wings/you get it). I doubt I get terribly far, there's just not that far to go. But it could be fun anyway to go for a more feral look. Meh...no guarantees. Maybe I'll just draw anything. It'd still be an improvement.

I know, I fail it. :< Real life has this nasty habit of making me go through looooooooooooooooooong stretches of time with like...no art done. Not even crap type sketches that aren't worth scanning 'cause after a dry spell like this I'd even post that, but I haven't even touched my markers. I teach 24 out of 29 possible classes a week, and spend my few free periods frantically grading papers, planning activities (which is the bane of my existance given how little time I have and how much one of my teachers wants sometimes) and attempting to make cleaning motions at my desk, which is suffering terribly from my lack of having time to actually keep it tidy. Blaugh.
I srsly have giftart and stuff to finish...I suck big donkey dong at keeping up with stuff like that. (Not literally.)
Now I have to shower and go to bed, because me and me hubby totally walked all the way to the mall and bought new bikes and it took a really long time. But mine is cute and green and white and I named it Nak-nak after my terribly accidentally cute kobold character in D&D. ^^;

I still am open for requests, which I might even do when I stop having THE SICK. I think it's Norwalk virus. It's shit on a stick is what. The doctor gave me a shot to stop the nausea and it worked, after the part where I curled into an ickle widdle ball and cried and said いや いやぁぁな いやあぁぁ いやな いやな a lot which is like NO NOOOO NOOO DON'T DO IT NOOOO, only more in Japanese.

Posted 18 years agoFirst I want to say to everyone watching me, new and old: Thanks. It's hard for me to find motivation to stick with drawing anthro, since not a single one of my IRL friends is into it and I work best in rabid art groups. Knowing there are people who appreciate it somewhere makes it a lot easier. Which isn't to say that my friends don't appreciate my art at all...just...y'know. It's not their thing.
Anyway...blah, MORE tired.
So tired I had to take Friday off work...it's been a hell week and I just couldn't make it to the end. My last period (the school I work at has 6 periods a day, minus 6th period Monday for the weekly staff meeting...so 29 total, 24 of which I normally work. This is on the upper end of what most of the "real" teachers do. This week I'd worked 27 classes plus hours after school, which is pretty excessive. The other teachers put in longer hours overall but the Japanese work ethic is "stay a long time, take a long time doing it," and I'd had to haul ass nearly without a break for the whole week. Even during lunch I'd graded papers almost every day.) was supposed to be an observation, for which I had been instructed to be energetic regardless of how tired I was. That...just wasn't going to float. My definition of 'energetic' had dropped to a level of 'I'll try not to lay on the floor and cry but no guarantees' and I was experiencing severe vertigo and a low fever. I figured going home and sleeping was the best possible route, and boy was it. I would not have survived Friday without locking myself in the bathroom and crying, and I wouldn't have had time to do that anyway.
So. I'm terribly tired and have had no time to draw ANYTHING, for FA or not, last week. Ugh.
I guess I could roll out Photoshop and finish the (horribly badly-proportioned, looking at it again) pic of Spring+Summer I've been on-and-off working on. It's almost done so I guess it won't be too bad...and I have a few older things I haven't scanned or uploaded yet...so it's not a lost cause.

Posted 18 years agoOne of my good friends was living in a crappy situation and I spent pretty much all of Saturday helping them load everything into a rental truck and drive it several cities over to another friend's apartment where she's going to live for a while...I don't mind doing it at all, but now I'm all tired. XD

AdamZero, Spring's got a couple of friends now. :D
Polar bear who needs a name: female, tall, cute type of slightly pudgy, sort of upbeat punk style, likes to dye her hair and fur lots of colors. Currently has an angled haircut that's white at the top, then dyed red, then purple, then blue tips. Some several piercings, likes big metal jewelry and bright colors. She's got a red heart dyed into the fur on her chest so that she could match Spring's heart-shaped mark. Likes nibblin' those big lop ears.
Fen: gray fox, goatee, sort of mischievous but in a nice way. Probably dresses cool. I haven't thought about him as much yet. :<
Anyone can feel free to suggest names for the polar bear girl! I'm thinking something sorta cute and punk but I'm not sure what that would actually be, so yeah. I tried to draw her but I haven't really practiced drawing bears much so I'll go through a few more rough sketches first. ^^;
I should go to bed...ish almost midnight here. >>; G'night everyone, whenever it's night in your timezone!

Posted 18 years agoIt is my opinion that 1. I need to keep drawing Spring! She's adorable! and 2. Spring needs a friend or several. Probably a girlfriend...maybe a boyfriend instead/as well. But I'm lame and have no ideas. Suggest me some if you wanna? I wan' draw some couples pics but I am really lacking a second character to make a set. (Dack doesn't count. Poor guy. He'll never get luv.)

My non-furry stuff (and some furry stuff too, but I intend to draw more and keep it over here) can be seen over on my deviantART site so go give that a look if you want.
I was more into furry stuff when I was a lot younger and way more influenced by reading a hella lot of Sonic comics, but I'm sort of thinking I'll get back into it. :D It's fun! Although it sort of weirds some of my friends out...durr hurr hurr. Thus a separate art gallery, right? Right.
