I have returned from Loch Ness

I have returned from my walk along the Great Glen Way early, saddly :( It seems that I wasn't cut out for walking the full 77 miles, managing only 43.5. I did manage to get all the way from Inverness to Fort Augustus, though - the entire length of Loch Ness - and thats something.
We started off ok and made it the full 12 miles on the first day without much problems - I even did my share of carrying the heavier pack with the tent in it! The next day was not so good, however. We decided to do two days of walking in a single day, an 8 mile and a 10 mile section. It was hell D8 My feet are still covered in painful blisters and my shoulders were hurting and my legs were in pain ;_; I am only a frail little thing. By the third day Fiona was doing all of the tent carrying and I was hobbling along at a snails pace. When it came to day four I decided I could go no further and we went home on the bus/train.
Fiona is a champion at this though - she could have kept going til the end at a brisk pace if I were able to follow her. I found it quite hard to ask her if we could go home but she was very understanding and didn't make me feel foolish at all. She even made me feel good about what I had managed to walk ^^
So I'm back now and fairly soon I'll be back to work on some commissions ^^

Going on Holiday~

I thought I'd let everyone know, particularly the generous people who have commissioned me so far, that I am going on Holiday for a week tomorrow ^^ We're going on a walking holiday all the way from Inverness to Fort William. I've never been on a walking trip like this before, so it'll be quite an experience. I always thought I'd love camping, so we'll see by the end of this if I truly have the stomach for it XD
Obviously this comes with the drawback that I wont be able to work on anyone's commissions or check my messages until I return - sorry, people!
And thank you very much, by the way, to those who have been commissioning me so far ^^ It helps me out a lot.

Graduation, Employment and Commissions~
Posted 12 years agoHey everyone! I have only good news today!
In my last journal I told you that the people who were trying me out for a job turned me down, but that very same night I was contacted by the other employer whom I had written off as having forgotten about me! :D
As it turns out, he had not forgotten about me at all and he asked me to do a few test image for him. He was very pleased and now I am working on producing a comic for his company! I cant really say anything more than that, but I'm quite excited. I'll let you know stuff when I'm allowed to tell you ;D
Also, Yesterday I graduated from University~ It was the hottest day of the year here, I think, and I was wearing a shirt, a waistcoat, a suit jacket and a graduation gown + hood. I was cooking alive underneath all of that. It was a nice, if dull, ceremony and I got to meet many of my classmates again ^^
And finally, I am going to be opening commission slots! I know there are a few people already whom I have promised slots to (and one trade with a classmate of mine), so I'm going to list you all here on top of the ten empty ones. I apologise greatly if I promised you a slot and I have not listed you here – I've had a lot going on and may very well have forgotten. Send me a note to remind me if that’s the case :)

Turned down ;_;
Posted 12 years agoAlas, I have been turned down by the more promising of my two job leads. They set me a test brief where I had to redraw some characters from a project of thiers - I wasn't what they were looking for. The other one is still hanging there but i've not recived any response from them in almost two weeks so I might have to write that one off too.

In the meantime i guess I shall have to build up my portfolio a little more and keep looking. it would have been defying convention a little to have recived the first job i was offered. Even getting the offer was a score if the stories we're told are any indication.
tonight at about 7:00PM GMT (half an hour from now) i'll be drowning my sorrows in a livestream session. I'm going to be working on the last of my Darastrix portraits! My degree show happened and I -might- be in line for a job!

My degree show was on Tuesday and it was a sureal experience. It was basicly a big exhibition with employers all comming round to see our work. Speaking to some of them was terrifying, especialy one gentleman in perticular who gave me some excelent, enthusiastic carreer advice in a fasion that would make even mountain of boulders get up and dance.
The best news is that two of people I spoke to may very well have a job for me! I mean, they probobly spoke to several people and made the same offer, but I'm in the running. I'm already sitting a test brief for one - I hope I can impress. By the looks of things their both illustration jobs, too, which is great.
I might be doing a livestream in about an hour from now, by the way. My channel is http://www.livestream.com/morgoth883 and I'de love for yous to join me ^^

Posted 12 years agoHey everyone! :D I got my grades in today from University. I dont quite know how the classification system works, but I -think- I have a Second Class Honours Degree now :o
I got a B1 for my Honours project, the one with the Darastrix News Report, and I got an A for my Art project :D The Special effects module (the magic portal one) got a B2, which was rather predictable - I was prepaired for worse. Overall, though I am very pleased with the outcome ^^
I'm planning to do a Livestream in a short while, too - I'll be working on a picture of Pyotre in photoshop. I'de love to see some of you there ^^ My channel is http://www.livestream.com/morgoth883.

Posted 12 years agoUniversity is all finished - I'd submited my Honours project, as you know, but now I have also finished my Poster project and this less than impressive digital compositing assignment. I'll be uploading the finished poster sometime soon, but in the meantime I'm getting ready to reactivate this account and open up commisions slots!
Right now I'm going to be drawing some pictures to upload and reassert myself on furaffinity a little bit - I'll be working on one of those image on Livestream in a couple of minutes. I'de love to see some of you there :D

The Honours project is done and dusted :D

I'm really quite glad its over and done with. All I have to work on now is the final parts for my poster project. The poster itself is actually finished and I'm going yo upload it pretty soon :D I still have to get sketchbook stuff all done though. Then its the CGI class, where I plan to open a portal to another dimension on my living room floor.
But pretty soon I will be free, and have graduated my final year at university :o It is a rather terrifying thought, actually.

Holidays Over - Deadlines Near

I just had a great, relaxing week off from work and University~ Two very good friends of mine, Arro and Tsu, were up to visit and we had a great time ^^ We went walking through the Argyll Forest, visited Luss on Loch Lomond and went to Glasgow briefly as well. On the last day we went Laser Tagging, which I hadn't done since I was about ten years old or something XD It got me very tired out. I really needed the time off to regenerate myself a bit though, and it was really awsome to see my friends again ^^
But now its back to work ;_; I'm still really struggling with my animation stuff - I hope I can get this all done on time. I even had a nightmare last night about failing everything because I took the week off. Hopefully it wont come to that, but I'm going to have to work hard and quick. Wish me luck!

Stumbling Along

Sorry I've not really been updating much lately. I've been finding it hard to focus on things like University work and when I have the marbles to do something productive then I must spend them on my course work :( I'm still working on my poster project as part of university though, so I'll have some more picture from that to upload at least :) Maybe even a livestream, who knows :o
Anyway, i'm still here, alive and kicking :) I may even have some additions to that 'other' account to offer in the near future. Depends on when I get round to tidying a few things up.

Things have been pretty good over the winter holidays! Christmas was nice and at New Year we had a house party and I got to see some friends I hadn't in a long while ^^ Then in January we went down to Nottingham to visit Arro and Tsu! It was a surprise visit, as far as Arro was concerned, and I got to sneak up behind and frighten him with my manly voice. Truley enough to send a shiver down into anyones loins.
But yes, from the beautiful Fiona I recived an electric piano as a christmas gift. Its awsome! Like, damn. In the past I tried to learn how to play the piano, but it was on a keyboard I got from my grampa that he had when he was young. It was as heavy as an elephant and had a very limited range of (non-weighted) keys. It was from a time when plastic, wood effect panneling was fasionable and to top it off it was out of tune. This made playing it about as enjoyable as dropping it on your foot. This new keyboard is a dream, though~ It sounds like a real piano, and that is really everythign I could ask for. ^^ I've already started trying to learn a song and I'm having a great time.
As for University, the poster project is still bobbing along nicely, as you may have noticed from recently uploads. I managed to finnish my character animation on time for the hand in, but it looks horrible - I might upload it to youtube and let you see, if I decide it does not bring shame upon my people to do so. My Honours project (The Darastrix news report) has been on hold for a while but now that everything else is done fro the time being, I'll be starting work on it again :) Very soon though we'll be starting back for the second trimester at University and beginging some new Modules - They start much too early in the morning for my liking ¬.¬
Finaly, one night at work when Fiona needed possession of the laptop I did something I haven't done in a long time - drew a page for Darastrix! :D I've managed to complete one full page (Non-digitaly so far) and I've got several half pages done and about 19 pages of dialogue planned out. I'm a bit shakey and out of practace, but its looking pretty good so far :D I still cant afford to devote too much time to it yet, unfortunatly, but it'll be good for times when I'm stuck without access to a computer~

The clock is ticking at university and I really need to get hold of a voice actor to play as my news reporter.
Unfortunatly my needs are quite specific - I need a male with a well spoken Scottish accent who is (or at least sounds) between 20 and 40 years old.
Does anyone here fit the bill? Do you know know anyone who might be interested? I'de be very grateful for any help on this. I'de do it myself by I freeze when performing anything for a camera and every single adult male in my family is English (except my Grampa, who is in poor health). I have a depressing lack of access to male Scottish people for someone who lives in Scotland XD

University, Closed Commisions and Tumblr!

University has begun once again! It began a few weeks ago in fact, hence my sudden silence across the board. This year is my Honors year and it has been keeping me very busy indeed. Its set to be an awesome year, though :D No more time wasting modules - its all good stuff.
In the first trimester we have Character Animation, where we have to make a short animation within certain boundaries. It has to involve two characters, one entering the room through a door and the other sitting in a chair - the seated character must be angry with the other one, they must have some manner of conflict which is resolved by the end of the animation. This makes me a happy dragonkin.
Then theirs the art class! And this time its a completely open brief and we are encouraged to work to our strengths - and my strength is in Illustration. I've decided to create 3 large posters stuffed with characters, about a dozen to each poster. I hardly need to explain that this is all kinds of fun.
Then their is the Honors Project itself. I was originally going to create a full news article from the world of Darastrix, involving the plight of Lilac Darastrix in their society. Unfortunately we test read the script and it lasted for ten minutes - a little longer than feasible. I'm still going ahead with the idea, but I'm only going to be animating a couple of scenes. This means it wont make much narrative sense, but the marks are for animation and modeling here. After all is done, I'm going to finish the whole thing over the summer, though ;)
Its set to be a great year! Unfortunately, as a result I'm going to have to close commissions for the time being. Sorry guys! I'm going to finish drawing the ones I've already committed to, but I might be a bit slow with them.
Finally, I have set myself up a Tumblr account at long last! No more just using my girlfriends. Tumblr is better suited to the small updates I'm probably only going to have time for this year, so I thought now was the best time to get an account of my own :)

This makes me a happy dragonkin.
Then theirs the art class! And this time its a completely open brief and we are encouraged to work to our strengths - and my strength is in Illustration. I've decided to create 3 large posters stuffed with characters, about a dozen to each poster. I hardly need to explain that this is all kinds of fun.
Then their is the Honors Project itself. I was originally going to create a full news article from the world of Darastrix, involving the plight of Lilac Darastrix in their society. Unfortunately we test read the script and it lasted for ten minutes - a little longer than feasible. I'm still going ahead with the idea, but I'm only going to be animating a couple of scenes. This means it wont make much narrative sense, but the marks are for animation and modeling here. After all is done, I'm going to finish the whole thing over the summer, though ;)
Its set to be a great year! Unfortunately, as a result I'm going to have to close commissions for the time being. Sorry guys! I'm going to finish drawing the ones I've already committed to, but I might be a bit slow with them.
Finally, I have set myself up a Tumblr account at long last! No more just using my girlfriends. Tumblr is better suited to the small updates I'm probably only going to have time for this year, so I thought now was the best time to get an account of my own :)

Its really nice - Probobly better than this claptrap PC I'm using right now. Its runs Maya very smoothly and I've already used it to model a street scene. Very nice stuff.
For those interested, its a Lenovo (Which I have christained Leninov, because I get tongue tied saying Lenovo for some reason) and it has an intel core i3 and 6 gigs of RAM.
Thanks to all the people who have and are still signing up for commisions ^^ I couldn't have afforded the replacement without you guys!

I need some purchasing advice!
Posted 13 years agoHeya everyone :) Things have been a little slow on the drawing front the past two weeks because of some deadlines I had to meet, but now that thats over I have a different problem - my laptop has broken :(
This means that i wont be able to draw over the weekends, which is when I get most of my drawing done. I need to get myself a new one fast!
Unfortunatly I kow very little about laptops and I was hoping some of you might have some advice on that front. Here are my requirements~
Between £300 and £400 (thats between $470 and $627)
64 bit windows
Something thats able to run Autodesk Maya 2012, at least for modeling purposes.
It also has to be a laptop, obviously.
All advice will be greatly apriciated and I thank you in advance! Like I say, I have very little knowlage on where to buy or what to buy.

Back from an Awsome Adventure in Nottingham!

Me and My girlfriend, Fiona, went to visit Arro and Tsu in Nottingham and it was awsome!
We did things.
Things like swimming! I've not been swimming in an exceedingly long time and aparently I can't put my head under the water. This came as a suprise to me as much as everyone else XD Eventually we managed to get me under, but only if I had one hand holding my nose, which wasn't very helpful for swimming around. it was fun, though! We dove for pennies.
We also painted models, we went for a walk where I injured myself hilariously and we played games and generaly had a good time ^^
I want to do it again, yes I do.

This car, man!

Today we had to break in to our own car. It was a fiasco XD
I had left my coat in the car, with my carkeys in it. Unbeknown to me, my girlfriend driving the car today had left her keys in the car as well. We had a lovely little day to ourselves visiting the Kelvin Grove art gallery and when we came back outside it had begun tipping it down with rain.
This was bad enough, but when we descovered we were locked out of the car the rain only seemed to get heavier. We dithered and dathered for a bit before deciding we had to break in but we didn't have the tools. So we searched high and low for a hardware shop to buy a hammer and only noticed one at the last minute from inside a Tescos while trying to find the heaviest tin of dog food on the shelves.
So we were saved from bashing in the window with a tin of pedigree chumm and made an interesting descovery. If you confidently walk up to a car and bash a window a dozen times in broad daylight with a hammer then people will at most give you a passing glance with an expression that says 'huh; look at that.' without even stopping. I mean, we were loud. Our noodly little arms coudn't break the glass the first bunch of times, but it sure made a racket!
But yeah, this car of ours has been through alot in the short time we've owned it. This isn't the first time we've had to take action to liberate keys stuck in the car and we've been in a hit and run car crash already in the middle of Glasgow. Poor wee thing.
Livetream
The livestreams have been going well ^^ I sort of feel like I'm stabbing in the dark with the 3D modeling XD But then I remember that I always feel like that when I'm making anything organic. It looks ugly as sin, baring a only a passing resemblence, if any the the thing you're trying to make and thena ll of a sudden it comes into focus right at the end. I hope thats whats going to happen with my darastrix XD Anyway, I'm still running the sessions weekly on Wednesdays at 9PM GMT (4PM EST) over at the morgoth883 channel!

I've been meaning for ages to begin work on creating a 3D model of a Darastrix and then rigging and animating it all on Livestream.
Well, I've actually figured out how to use livestream now and i'm going to start work this evening! :D This first session is short notice, I know, and its just going to be some photoshop stuff. I'm keeping it simple for my first ever livestream.
I'm going to be broadcasting at 8:00 PM GMT this evening (Thursday) from this channel. I look forward to seeing some of you there ^^

Posted 13 years agoIt's commision time, ladies and gentleman and you wont be short of places, let me tell you.
I live independantly now and raising money this way has become less about aquire pocket money and more about sustaining the lifestyle to which I have become acustomed (one that lets me pass my university degree).
Both my computer and laptop are showing signs of looming CPU implosion, and niether are really up to the task of running the 3D modeling software I use anyway. I need to raise £1000 to cover that and other expenses and to do this I am opening a grand total of 100 commision slots at £10 each!

I live independantly now and raising money this way has become less about aquire pocket money and more about sustaining the lifestyle to which I have become acustomed (one that lets me pass my university degree).
Both my computer and laptop are showing signs of looming CPU implosion, and niether are really up to the task of running the 3D modeling software I use anyway. I need to raise £1000 to cover that and other expenses and to do this I am opening a grand total of 100 commision slots at £10 each!

Posted 13 years agoEverything is done and dusted at last - all my hand in dates have passed and the work has been done - I can relax a little now! XD
You might have seen my dwarf animation, but now see this!

This is the fabulous Fionas Animation, and it took her forever to make! The thng is hand drawn and coloured on computer - the stack of paper she has to show for it is emence. Alot fo other people doing 2D seemed to shy away from drawing all of the frames; they said they would, but they gradualy tok more and more shortcuts. But not Fiona!
Anyway, take a look and leave her a comment if you like it :)
In the comming weeks I'm thinking of trying out Livestream! Anyone be interested in that? I'm going to try model a Darastrix in Maya :)
