Art theft!
Posted 5 years agoSo, someone on f-list has stolen my artwork! Woah!
I'm emailing them to have it taken down now. I needed to put up a journal as proof of identity. So, here it is, F-list!

Sorry for the inactivity!
Posted 12 years agoHey guys,
Sorry for the inactivity on this account - I've been busting my buns on my main account,
nyil, and it's been leaving me no time to draw fatties. If you're interested in my art, or in seeing things finished past the sketch stage, I'd suggest taking a peek at that account. Otherwise, I'll try to draw up some fatties the next time my schedule slows a little!

Posted 13 years agoSo, as I posted on my other account, a bunch of guys who publish crimeware for a living found a new Java expoit. Long story short, turn that shit off. As far as I'm aware, Javascript is pretty safe, but Java is out. I'm not as tech savvy as I'd like to be, though, so I'll let this security website do the talking for me.

Update + commissions opening soon
Posted 13 years agoAlright, I figured I should throw up a little something something about what's going on, since I haven't posted a journal in like, bloody forever and that's probably not nice or something. Netiquette is confusing!
So, I just got done with Indy Fur Con - everyone was super nice, I met some great people, sold a lot of fun art and had some shitty hotel booze. Seriously, $9 for a Barbie doll sized cup of long island iced tea? Thanks, but I think I'll keep my money. The con was fun, though. I actually managed to break out of my shell and go to one of the raves to dance awkwardly then sit on the side and watch all these extroverts go out and do extrovert things like dance! Fun stuff!
After I got back from IFC, I pretty much immediately started packing for college. I still somehow managed to forget a bunch of things (drawing board, watercolors, markers, books for down time) but whatever. I moved into the dorms, and fortunately my grades are high enough that I was allowed to move into the rich kid dorms for not as much money - I get my own room and only have to share a shower with one other Asian halfbreed! It's pretty cool! And food is made right there in front of me in the kitchen, all you can eat style @_@ It is the coolest thing ever. The only problem is that the shower is almost always cold and the waterpressure sucks, but hey, whatevs, I can live with that.
I just made sure that all of my classes are honors. This is going to be a real challenge, but hey, totes worth it. And fun! And I just got a position as a research assistant in one of the labs - first semester I'll be working with kids in a cognitive/social psych setting, and then I'll be working with rats in a neuroscience type dealie.
... And I'll still go into Chicago every weekend to continue my job as an Irish music teacher. This is going to be a busy year.
So, commissions are going to be opening soon, most likely this Friday evening. I'd check here at around 9:00 US Central time for slots! I'll erect a price sheet as soon as I'm able so nothing comes as a surprise when these commissions actually ARE opened. I will be opening only three slots over two accounts, so pounce while you can!
Commissions so far:
llearch - finished
cmdrkitsune - finished
mits - finished
shira - coloring

llearchThe competition draws near
Posted 13 years agoSo, I'm entered in a really big regional Irish music competition, which is this Saturday, so unfortunately I will not be able to upload things over the weekend because I'm going to be busy competing and trying to make Irish people cry. I'm entered in four categories - solo fiddle, gruppai ceoil, and two accompaniments for bodhran players. It's exciting, but SO MUCH WORK. Today and tomorrow are going to be spent on music only to better prepare myself for the competition. The whole ordeal is very exciting. There will be lots of competitors from all over the US, so I'll have many opportunities to learn and observe others! Exciting!
Shit's gettin' real, yo!
Posted 13 years agoAlright, so, first off, I feel I need to apologize for the lack of consistent updates, and above all, lack of commissions. Things have been getting really intense around here lately, and I've just been doing portfolio work/a few things to relax, and haven't really thought about commissions.
So, what's been going on, you ask?
Well, first off, in two weeks, there is a national Irish music competition, in which I am entered in four categories! Solo, Group, and two accompaniment categories. It's really intense, that's over 30 tunes that need to be memorized! Plus transitions and other parts! We always compose our own accompaniments and transitions, so I'm excited to see what comes up for the group competition.
Secondly, my two jobs. Our students are entering the group competition, as well as the under 12 solos and duet/trio competitions. It's exciting, but it requires a LOT of work. I'm really proud of how much progress each of them makes. What's more, as their (also) art teacher, they've been giving me a lot of work! It seems like the more work they know they're capable of doing, the more they want! It's kind of awesome!
I'm also applying for a third job/internship. This is why I'm working so hard on my portfolio: to land a job as a graphic artist at some company. While this is going to be really interesting, it's creating a lot of extra work for me, since I'm not an art major (I'm a neuroscience major). In my college, only art majors get help from the career center and the cool jobs, so I have to really fight to get my portfolio seen. Fortunately, the career center people really, really like my stuff so far, so I think I have a pretty decent chance.
With this year coming to a close, I also get to start writing up an experiment for my capstone project and whatnot. I get to use and abuse the PSYC 102 classes, which is going to be the best thing ever. Heheheheheh... I have to do a lot for this, though. Hypothesis, write up an experiment, produce the instructions and standardized tests/methods of scoring, then I actually have to DO it, then write my conclusion and stuff. It's so cool, I'm really excited, but it's a lot of work I have to do before I can even do the experiment, so.. We'll see!
I'm excited, and excited for the club activities as well. I'm starting to get a hang of fencing, and I'm one of the lead members of the school's Irish music club. Philosophy club is also a total blast, it's really small and intimate, so everyone gets to say something, and no one gets nervous because of crowds. I really like it!
So.. A little busy, but I'm going to try to start getting commissions done. There's a small lull in portfolio work, so I'm going to get to devote a little bit of time to getting commissions done.

Posted 13 years agoWow, I don't really know what to say! I didn't expect to get so many watchers so quickly, so I think all I really can say is, thank you all very much for your support, it means a lot to me!
Busy!
Posted 13 years agoSo, kind of a repost from my other account, but,
Good god! What a busy week! I thought I was going to have some time to myself over Spring break, but apparently St. Paddy's week is not to be trifled with! At all!
I played about 20 gigs over the last week, traveling from one end of Illinois to the other between gigs. It was a lot of fun, and really intense! It was a different crew every time, too - some band members didn't show up to some gigs, while other times, we had a full crew and a big gigantic wall of sound. No matter what, though, the gigs turned out well, and people enjoyed our playing.
I have a competition coming up as well - April 14th. I'm playing the solo fiddle competition, gruppai ceoil, and accompanying two under 12 bodhran players for their competitions. It's very exciting, but it's a lot more work than I'm used to doing for these things, because of these two little squirts.
Other than that, I've been studying my butt off for school - I'm currently designing an experiment to perform for one of my classes - and I get to use and abuse the PSYC 101 classes to do it! HAHAHAHAHAHA. I'm so excited, it's gonna be great. But it has been very busy.
I'm sorry the art has been on the slow side lately - I'll try to squeeze out a few things when I have time!
Other than that, commission slots? Completely filled up! I'll get to them soon, promise!
