EMERGENCY - need money - selling DVDs/VHSs
Posted 2 years agoJust paid for some upcoming events and such, and now my bank let me know I need to fully pay back my credit card by the end of March.
(I used it a bit too much during my unemployment last year)
Outstanding debt is € 3500, I will probably still need between 1500 to 2000 by the time the deadline hits.
I was looking into taking on a second job, but I'm not allowed to, since I haven't been working at my current job for long enough.
Now, I have a lot of DVDs I never watch anymore (EU region), cause I have completely digital editions,
including but not limited to
* Star Wars box set of the original trilogy, special editions (pre-bluray versions)
* box set of the extended LOTR trilogy with a lot of extras
* box set of all seasons of friends
* a lot of seasons of the Simpsons, some seasons of Star Trek Voyager (specifics available for those interested)
* more
I do believe these are region locked for the EU, and I'm unsure if the menus will default to your local language
I also have a lot of old VHS tapes, including purple Disney ones, which I do believe people collect. (these were for the Belgian/Dutch market, so some are dubbed in Dutch, some have Dutch subs)
Only put some general info in this journal for now.
If anyone is interested in any of these, send me a note and we can discuss details.

Could use extra income - suggestions for online revenue?

but I can't draw, and any of my writing are just fantasies of the moment, written down.
Anyone have suggestions on what I might be commissioned for?
Another option that has played in my head, is to amp up my YouTube presence, and if I'm lucky enough to gain followers, get a patreon going.
Problem there is I just have a simple webcam, and no proper microphone, also, no editing skills.
Streaming on twitch is an option, but I'm not on there a lot, so I don't know how donations and such work there.

So IT IS ON!
I'm currently looking for a room at on of the Hilton hotels across the street, but the longer I/we wait, the more expensive they get.
I'm not a suiter, but will bring some light cosplay stuff, nothing that takes up too much room. I don't mind suiters, as long as the room isn't stuffed with half a dozen suits.
I see the only available rooms have 1 kingsize bed, so must be willing to put up with a stray leg or arm.
I do breathe heavily while sleeping, sometimes with a bit of light snoring, but not always.
I'm not a heavy drinker, and I also don't smoke, except maybe a cigar, but no cigarettes.
I will book a longer extended stay, because of the flight prices on the one hand, and the extra day to visit the city on the other (never been to the US before),
So from Wednesday December 1, to Monday December 6. (that's early arrival, late departure + Wednesday).
If You can't make it that first night, I'm willing to pay for that one.

Though I suspect we'll see an arrangement at least by September, for (at the minimum) fully vaccinated people, the fact that there's no timeline yet for easing the ban, makes it very very difficult to plan, to book a hotel and flights.
So currently I'm looking for a roommate from the Schengen Area, if you know someone who also wants to go, and who isn't against sleeping in one bed, send them my way.
That way, if the ban does stay in place, we can cancel the room together, and the other isn't stuck with having to pay for a full room.

I could use some advice on all fronts.
Going to the US: I'll need a passport, a visum, get a flight. Any advice there, on transcontinental flights? airlines to avoid, tips,...?
Money in the US: can I pay with my debit card, or only credit card? Will I need cash? What about tipping? (people generally get paid living wages in Europe)
Clothing: Chicago in December, what to expect?

I just got the yearly bill of € 78 for the domain and hosting.
I bought a house this year, which I'm renovating with the help of my parents, which is quite expensive.
I also broke my arm a few months ago, and those bills are now coming in too.
I will get a lot back eventually though, but it's been a really expensive month for me, so anyone who wants to pitch in a few euros to keep the site up is welcome to contact me.

Castle meet 1/7/17 *FULL*
Posted 8 years agoUPDATE: Places are full for dinner, if you still want to join, I can ask the restaurant, but I can't guarantee a spot.
On Saturday the 1st of July, the real start of summer, the furries will take over the Gravensteen in Ghent (Castle of the Counts), followed by a spaghetti at the Kastart.
I've reserved 15 places for both, it doesn't matter much for the castle, but I can't guarantee more than 15 spots for the restaurant, so I'll have to know definitively who's coming, and who's not.
I've posted the event on facebook: https://www.facebook.com/events/237223990092751/ but it's set to private, so be sure to invite your furry friends, or they will not see the event (or aks for an invite)

The plan:
• 15:00 meetup at Sint Pietersstation.
• 15:30 We take a tram to the city centre.

• We'll still be early, so there's time to look around a bit, get an ice cream
• 16:00 Visit of the castle.
Though much of the castle consists of restaurations from the early 20th century, it is nevertheless a very worthwhile visit and a trip to the middle ages. The castle also hosts a permanent exhibition of weapons and torture devices.
Do be mindfull that we'll have to climb some very narrow stairs, so if you're in a wheelchair of have a broken leg, etc this isn't the meet for you.
A visit will last about 45 minutes, could be more, could be less.

Keep in mind that is not a fursuiting meet. It's ok to wear a tail, but nothing too big, remember the castle has narrow staircases and wasn't built with us in mind.

Though much of the castle consists of restaurations from the early 20th century, it is nevertheless a very worthwhile visit and a trip to the middle ages. The castle also hosts a permanent exhibition of weapons and torture devices.
Do be mindfull that we'll have to climb some very narrow stairs, so if you're in a wheelchair of have a broken leg, etc this isn't the meet for you.
A visit will last about 45 minutes, could be more, could be less.

Please also make clear: Are you coming for the whole meet, or just the castle, or just for dinner. Where will we meet up (at the station, at the centre, at the castle, at the restaurant)? And: how to contact you if we can't find you.
Keep in mind that is not a fursuiting meet. It's ok to wear a tail, but nothing too big, remember the castle has narrow staircases and wasn't built with us in mind.
I'll expect each of you to act responsibly both in the castle and in the restaurant.

Found a hotel at less than half the price of the Estrel (well not really found, was lucky enough that a friend who asked me before to be his roommate, hadn't found one yet, but had already booked a room)
I'm currently on a 6 to 10 month study for PHP developer, organized by VDAB (an organisation that helps people find work), so they still have to approve me taking time off, but that shouldn't be a problem.
Because I moved (well, I had to move, but that's a different story), I can afford it this year; I was really upset that I couldn't go last year, so I'm looking forward to seeing all of you again.
