Fursuit Dancing
Posted 6 years agoI've had this weird idea to actually try for fursuit dancing for next year's FWA. Never mind, I'm a greymuzzle, ignore the fact that I haven't really been into dancing...and forget that I have an almost 7-foot tail. There is a part of me that is taking this as a challenge. What do any of you think about this?
FWA POST CON REPORT
Posted 6 years agoSorry (not sorry) for sounding like a teenager, but OMG, that was AMAZING!
So much stuff I never though I would/could do!
So many pics and videos taken of me. (No, I'm not a pop-fur! Don't worry about that!)
I went to the fursuit games. Had lots of fun (even though/when my very long tail (more...tale of that tail later on) got caught on the scooter, and I fell off (hey, thought I'm 51, I've never BEEN on a scooter before, so sue me! :P) ...and yes it did get captured on film. Don't care. Too much fun!)
I participated in the group fursuit photoshoot.
I had my own private photoshoot with a furiend I made who was an intermediate photographer.
I played Cosmic Encounters at the Board Game Room. I haven't played that game in...I dunno, 20 years maybe? Still was lots of fun.
I participated in a LARP...as a doctor (the "medical" kind) with a bunch of pirates and a "dancer" (male, as in simply someone who's talent was dancing.) Never been in one before...incredible...simply incredible! Several of us LARP players also got to be in a 3D picture (like those YouTubes videos where you can use your mouse to scan 360 degrees!)
I went to several panels, including Greymuzzle Furs (where there were 2 gentlemen that I'm sure were close to 70 years old, and later learned that there was a greymuzzle (could have been one of those two) who just turned 75!), Military Furs (furs from all branches including the Marines, so whoever may think furries are for kids...may JUST want to think closely about that), and Floor-Dragger Furs (Furs with long tails that drag to the floor. Won First Place for Longest Tail (Thank you, L'Hiver!)), and Christian Furs. There was maybe one or two panels I wanted to also go, but either decided against it, or time got away from me (imagine a Time Lord having trouble with time!) before I could get there. Oh, well!
Went to the opening and closing ceremonies (where I was one in a three-way tie for Longest Tail again! YAY!), actually watched the Fursuit Floor Wars and enjoyed it.
Made several furiends, and made people smile!
Though FWA was still going on until tomorrow, I decided to head back home today as there really wasn't too much for me to afterwards, and needed to check on my Chameleon back home.
I will have to say that it was a bit hard at first for me to step outside in (what would pass for) "public" in fursuit for the first time. But once I started, I quickly lost my shyness and just let me/Murphy be free. Never received any negative comments or anything bad said about me or the furries. I am soooo thankful that I decided to go. This was just what (if you'll pardon the pun...or even if you WON'T, :P ) the "Doctor" ordered!

COMING OUT AS A FURRY
Posted 6 years agoWell, finally told my workplace I'm a furry. They took it pretty well. As one coworker described them to another one, "they're people that dress up as animals". You and I know there's more to it, but one step at a time. It feels good to let out that secret once and for all.

Pun of the Day
Posted 6 years agoDid you hear about the dog who ran two miles to bring back his master's stick? Personally, I think it's a bit far-fetched.

5ft 7in (1.70m)
Are you taken? Are you looking for a 'mate'?
Single and asexual. Not looking!

Certainly! Just beware of time displacement if you do. Not liable for being transported to the future/past.
How can I find you?
Look for the dragon with a fez and scarf...and possibly bowtie.
Can I visit your room?
If I'm there. It's a con, I'll be all over.

If you like to
Can I hug or snuggle with you?
Yes. Hugs and snuggles gratefully accepted.

Why wouldn't I be? :)

Thursday through Monday morning/afternoon (whenever I have to leave).
Do you have an artist table?
I won't even have an artist chair...or a footstool. Not an artist.
Will you be going to parties?
Depends on my mood.
Will you be performing?
Only feats of friendliness and compassion. Outside of that, not really.
If I see you, how should I get your attention?
Murphy Slaugh or "Doctor!" or even "Doctor Who".
Where will you be most of the time during the day/s?
In constant motion unless there something that tickles my fancy
What/where will you be eating?
Food. Most definitely. Outside of that, who's to say.
Can I come with you for food/fun/etc?
I would be delighted to have you for company.
Can I take your picture?
But, why would you want my picture? My taste in art is very...….odd, oh, not like that.
Of course, I'd be happy to get my picture taken.
What's your goal(s) for the con this year?
Have more fun than the last one, meet new friends, meet up with old ones. Get some stuff, make lots of memories.

Hotel Room for FWA
Posted 6 years agoWell, I managed to get a hotel room for FWA. It's not in the same hotel that's hosting it, but one block over. I have an extra bed if anyone is wanting to go to FWA but needing a room. I have it Thursday through Sunday night with a Monday morning checkout.
Out of Time Out of Space
Posted 6 years agoHey, friends and family!
I finished recording me narrating two chapters of my story that I wrote many years ago. Would anybody care to listen and give me any feedback on them?

FWA!
Posted 6 years agoIf any of my furiends are going to FWA, would they have any space in their room, even on the floor, for one more guest? I promise I will be quiet and respectful and I don't drink!
FWA
Posted 6 years agoIf nothing goes wrong (and considering who I am...that is putting a LOT of trust in circumstances), I do believe I will attending FWA (Furry Weekend in Atlanta). Been 7 years since I've actually attended a con (again, FWA).
I...guess I'll bring my human along with me as well. I think it's in my contract. It's his car and my TARDIS is rather unreliable.

ARTIST FOR PIC COMMISSION?
Posted 6 years agoI'm looking for an artist to do a commission to be used for a tattoo later on. And also a badge. Have tried to contact two artists for these, but so far, very little (if any) replies. Can anyone help me out? Thank you.
Badge commission
Posted 6 years agoI am interested in getting some badges of my fursona...not necessarily for any particular convention, but just something of my fursona. Anybody have any good artists they would recommend for them?
Family Needing Prayers
Posted 6 years agoMy friends, my family needs some prayer. Last year, my stepdad discovered some growths on his lungs and heart through a scan. Not sure what they were as a biopsy to find out would entail taking him off his blood thinners, and with the anesthesia, would be VERY risky for him. Well, they tried radiation on the spots, hoping it would start to get rid of them. Unfortunately, last scan today showed that in fact, the radiation seemed to make the spots WORSE. They are pretty much out of options on this point. Either do nothing and wait, and hope nothing happens, or try for an EXTREMELY risky biopsy to find out what they are. Right now they are having to leave things in God's hands. Please pray for them. I don't want to lose my stepdad so soon after getting him. Thank you and God bless.

Birthday
Posted 7 years agoIt's weird knowing I'm finally 50. I know I've lived that long, but another part of me doesn't feel like it's been that long. I don't really FEEL 50 (or at least what I thought "50" should feel like).
Travel to Arkansas
Posted 7 years agoI had the most wonderful time vacationing in Arkansas. Got to go to the Crater of Diamonds to dig for some (didn't find any, but got some nice stones and some volcanic ash), went to a few places where they sold crystals and gems and such, visited the Bathhouses of Hot Springs. Took lots of pictures both of Searcy (where I stayed) and surrounding areas. Too much to see or do in just one week. Hope to go there again to see more.
Looking Bad and Good at the Same Time
Posted 7 years agoWeird how a loved one can look so good and yet so horrible after a bad accident that your heart nearly breaks, but yet is joyful they are still alive.
My life (such as it is).
Posted 7 years agoSometimes I have to wonder about my life, about where I'm supposed to be heading. In every aspect of my life, I seem to defy categorization. Though I was born and lived in Texas for almost 19 years, never developed a drawl, don't like spicy foods, not into country music, don't have boots or cowboy hats.
My current accent is one that my body seems to have developed on it's own. Somewhat a mixture of British, Australian and...something else? I didn't decide to do it that way, it just is.
In the Navy 20 years. Never got drunk, didn't go to bars, didn't really cuss, etc. Never sounded or acted like a stereotypical sailor. How I made it through boot camp and 20 years is still a mystery to me.
Been living in Georgia for 11 years. Don't have the accent, don't act like a typical Georgian. No matter where I've been or what I've done (outside of the furry fandom, and even in it to a certain degree), I seem to be the "black sheep", the "outsider".
This year I'll be 50...and I've just recently realized I'm an asexual...and I'm still a virgin. Relationships don't seem to be something that I have any interest in. I've tried dating many times, but they haven even lasted longer than a year. Not THEIR fault, but more of mine.
It's like I couldn't generate any more interest in them. Sometimes being "unique" and not following the crowd" seems to have backfired on me. If I'm not like anyone else, it's hard to be like anyone else, to have anything in common with anyone.
I don't know if I should be more worried that I may not find (or care to find anyone) for me, or worried that I'm not MORE worried about that. That I may be by myself for the rest of my life and just complacently accept that that's how I'll be.
So many questions...and nowhere to find the answers.
