i keep coming back to FA, every other social media site i've been dead on for at least a year now XP I only force myself to post on insta once in the blue moon, but I really hate that community (the general app, not my friends or followers!). It's my intention to post more, but with my new job I barely have time to draw at all. I work full time for a pig rescue/farm, and on my days off I'm still volunteering at the wildlife rehab. I absolutely love my job, but it's exhausting work and I barely have the energy to do what I used to love. I'm still trying to find that balance.

still doing my taur thing, most drawing for myself and friends right now. I am in a resident evil zine which I will post about once it's released. I'm designing t-shirts for the pig rescue organization associated with the farm, and still doing taxidermy here and there, my current project is mounting a squirrel. my friend is working on a short film and hired me for some of the character turnarounds and background art. I've also started painting dinosaur models. i had a goal to read an hour a day but....well i came up with it last month and havent even touched any of my books yet. i've also been crazy behind on my russian lessons. i'm bad at the academic stuff. also taking a break from weed for a short while, not for any serious reason, just for the sake of going sober for a bit.

almost got a full scholarship to pursue a vet tech license, but just didn't meet the criteria. my other friend works at the zoo now and i'm soooo jealous. everyone i know has a birthday in september/october and my bank account is bloody and bruised. i haven't gone a week that i haven't bought somebody a present. at least i have a steady income now :P

i can't promise regular posting (for now), but i at least want to check in regularly and interact with people again. what's new in your lives? what are you looking forward to? what are you working on right now? thanks for reading my little ramble

Still chugging along with my senior year, my professor was my biggest support while I struggled with burnout and having no motivation or passion for my thesis. They just quit and I am beyond bummed, the whole class loved them. Not sure where else I'm going w this! Just sad, I'm gonna miss them so much, and I don't know if the replacement we get next semester is going to understand me or my project as well as they did

So I'm in the midst of my thesis; it's a small gallery of sorts, the details aren't important. Basically, I'm a frustratingly fickle bastard and I've lost pretty much all interest in the topic I chose. I could feel the distaste building up as I worked on developing it within the studio but brushed it off as being burnt out. Took a break, came back to it, nope. I just lost all connection to it. Switching topics is out of the question as well, unfortunately. Devoting the last year of college towards something I feel nothing for instills way too much dread in me. I've reached out to classmates and professors, but I need other perspectives. This is what my college education is supposed to be accumulating to. How do I rekindle that passion?!

Happy belated Halloween all, I can't express how bummed I am that I couldn't find the time for a spooky ych this year ;w;

It's been ridiculously busy for me, juggling my senior year, thesis, work, mental health, etc....

I'm hoping as we decline into thanksgiving break, I can find the time to open comms again. No promises.....but it would be nice. I have a laundry list of some fun drawing prompts to try out once I have free time, mostly warming up to TF after that little sequence I did back in May. For some reason the imagery of scrappy post-apoc guys turning into cute anthros is appealing to me :-]

Other then that life's been quiet! I stopped using social media a while ago, only post to FA now. I like it that way, it's a lot quieter, I don't have to worry about trends or algorithm. Been tapping away at the Taur zine, I'm hoping to release it digitally within the next few months. I know that makes it sound like it's a big project but I promise it's not, I'm just extremely slow X'-D Spent Halloween at home, not as bad as last year spending it at my old job :'-] I don't think I ever shared here that I quit but god I'm glad I did, and now I still work with animals so I'm happy with the trade-off! I never would've guessed rehabbing wild animals would be miles less stressful then handling other people's dogs. Any current or previous doggy daycare workers that can agree how miserable it is to work there, or was it just my boss? TToTT

What is everyone else up to?? I feel like I've been bad w communicating and responding on here. How did you spend your Halloween? What are you working on? Made any positive changes in your life, big or small?

I've been working on and off on a little passion project for the better half of the year; just a small taur zine displaying different designs and concepts that tickle my brain. If this interests you, I will have it as PWYW on Ko-Fi. Payment is totally optional and you can have 12+ fresh taurs in your digital hands for free. It's mostly stand-alone illustrations, but there will be a focus on furgonomics, taur clothing and wheelchairs and armor, etc. This is also exclusively SFW and exclusively anthro taurs, apologies to those who enjoy the human parts :-P. Before I finish up and publish it, I'd love to know what species or concepts you guys would love to see. I will also be putting a few of the illustrations of RedBubble as well, because I personally think there isn't enough merch out there for taur enthusiasts.

Spent the whole day yesterday cranking out mounts because I had to get all my bodies out of the freezer asap -0- I finished a mouse, a shrew, a rat, and a deer tail, all done with cotton bodies instead of my usual foam. The simple answer to why I switched is that I was running out of foam, but honestly I think I prefer the cotton method more. Happy accidents! I've been able to experiment with more dynamic poses and honestly the rat looks lovely, too bad I'm making it as a gift :'-]. I may have devolved a bit in my degloving method, the mouse tail was completely unsalvageable and I had to reattach the shrew's. The rat tail had no problems but it was also much bigger and harder to mess up, so I'm not giving myself too much credit there. Skinning the rat was such a walk in the park, nice thick skin I didn't need to worry about tearing, but making the mount for it took so long, and even longer to actually make it look passable. And I used up so much cotton to make it too :'''-]

While my rat’s still in the freezer, I got another mouse from a more local pet store to keep myself occupied since I had the weekend off. Turned out to be such a hassle, the poor mouse had a huge abscess on his back, was covered in lipomas, and stunk like disease. I worked on a deer pelt a few years back with a wound from a previous (and unsuccessful) hunter, so so so much pus. This mouse smelled just like it. It was appalling that they were selling these as feeder mice, I would never feed this to an animal. While skinning it was pretty unpleasant, and I messed up and accidentally ripped the tail off with my superhuman strength, the end result turned out pretty okay all things considered. I was able to apply what I knew now from past mistakes and I think there’s a definite improvement. Unfortunately despite my various deodorizing attempts, the smell still lingers...

While on a walk the other day I found two dead moles, it was very lucky! The first one I stuffed yesterday and the second is still in my freezer. Once my formalin arrives he’s gonna be a wet specimen. Stuffing the mole was easier and harder than the mouse; there weren’t any ears and eyes for me to worry about, and I had more knowledge by now so the tail looks WAY better. But since this wasn’t a clean death (I think a cat got these poor guys) I had to deal with insides popping outside and trying to get those out of the way before it got all over the fur. I named him Peewee and he’s currently drying next to my last mouse, Peppermint!

While at the pet store I ended up buying a feeder rat instead of a mouse, I’m hoping I didn’t just bite off more than I can chew hehe. I definitely need to get more materials before I start working on him, specifically I need beads for the eyes and and a thicker wire for the tail. I’m thinking of making his pose he curled up to sleep, bc I always found those types of taxidermy so stinking cute. I rlly hope my rat turns out ok because he was TEN WHOLE BUCKS WHY.

bought a feeder mouse from the pet store while picking up crickets for the gecko--weirdest impulse purchase i've ever bought. grabbed some borax and foam clay and it turned out way smoother than i honestly expected! everything's still pinned and drying, fingers crossed it all turns out ok ;w;

i washed and left the inside bits outside for the foxes so it wouldn't go to waste. honestly a wonderful anatomical study too. im hoping the feeder mice come in different fur morphs besides white, gonna buy a rat when i have time like some weird gacha, assuming theyre more likely to be brown instead of white. I'm just looking for a little diversity with the colors, plus i want them to look more natural. i'll also be on the lookout for field mice. birds are more iffy, besides bird laws, i know i gotta crack open the skulls and scoop out the brains which sounds like a little much atm, even for me. still, the experience would be valuable.

honestly i feel a little freaky X-] but it was so much fun! taxidermy was something i've always wanted to do, since i've been very involved in my dad's hunting habits. I've done dry preservation but never anything involving mounts. My goal after I'm comfortable with the little guys is to move up into rabbits. I've always wanted a taxidermy rabbit that's sitting up, what better than to make my own so I have exactly what I want?

I've got plenty of resources, both in books and online. thankfully haven't run into any problems at all, but i'm sure that'll change when i move onto bigger things. i'd love to hear thoughts from anyone also interested in taxidermy. i'm absolutely no expert, but i can try and answer questions as well :-]

I made some small changes to my guielines, nothing major. Just removed some of the "ehhhs" and a couple hard no's. Basically I'm a little more lax with the nsfw stuff as I'd like the expand my horizons for future clients.
