Needing Critiques / Con Badge Offer
Posted 18 years agoHey all, I've been really gung-ho about my drawing lately, doing at least an hour of drawing each and every day, some of it from life, some it practice out of anatomy books, some of it furry, some of it whatever.
I'd like to ask for some help, though, if only in the form of a general critique, because I'm really wanting to improve.
Where I am: Right now, I'm working out of the Glen Vilppu Drawing Manual, on week 2 (2nd chapter), really focusing on making those "blob" structures as real as I can. He's not kidding - it looks simple enough, but to do it the way he does is deviously tricky. I'm also spending some time sketching a few pages of people and places from life when I can, normally around the university and wherever I may be. This is getting me into the habit of taking my sketchbook everywhere.
Where I want to be: I'd like to be more proficient, like all of you on my watch list. There's a reason I added you all, believe me, I'm learning a lot from you (thank you!) But these are the things I think I struggle with doing the most:
-Compositions, namely those with multiple characters, angles, framing, in short, storytelling.
-Anatomy, mostly in dealing with anthro legs, feet, and toes, heads, ears, muzzles, faces, fingers and hands, (digitgrade), expressions and emotions, shown both facially and through the body.
-Eyes. This a big one I still struggle with, creating expressive and interesting eyes is a challenge I think a lot of artists wrestle with, and I am no exception.
What's in it for you: I want to start doing con-badges, and then move my way up to doing commissions. For now, badges seem to be a good start, if you want one from me, the price is just an honest-to-god critique and some suggestions or ideas of what to do.If you're interested, a con badge is in it for you.
I know this a lot to ask; I don't want any hand holding, I don't expect that, nor a full, formal critique. Any and all tips are GREATLY appreciated, however. Know that I'll be the one doing the work, and I promise my ego is not going to be bruised by anything you say (even if you come in here screaming "YOU SUCK!!!" trust me, if you explain why and I can learn from that and move forward, I will thank you), and I'm not going to argue. I really just want to move past where I'm at right now. To be completely honest, I am inspired to improve by a lot of the amazing work I'm seeing on here, and doing high-caliber work with you all is something I'm striving for.
DON'T BE AFRAID TO TEAR THAT SHIT UP!! Today's good will be tomorrow's bad, so what matters most is just doing the work. BELIEVE ME, I VALUE YOUR HONEST OPINIONS.
If you're still here, thanks for reading this far. =) I'll upload more as I do it.
Thanks again!
