Just a thought I've had toyed around with.

We have two very active stores on both Etsy and The Dealer's Den, plus a full-fledged website, but wondered how we could work Patreon into the mix.

Possibly something like a Scent of the Month thing? And certain tiers got products featuring that scent, up to a themed collection of a candle, soap, bath bomb and spray?

I've never dabbled in Patreon so I'm really unfamiliar with how the tiers work, the system work, and so forth, but the idea of maybe a subscription service thing to get our stuff to you guys in the absence of cons has been working its way around.

It's been a wild month. Plenty of interviews but nothing has stuck.

The state denied my UI claim, stating I left because I was "dissatisfied." I've requested an appeal hearing since I left due to unsafe work conditions and I'm now waiting to see if that goes through.

I know a couple folks have spread this around a bit.

Friday I lost my job unexpectedly. No pink slip, nothing, was told to hand over my badge and keys for the school. Was told I was going on admin leave.

I don't know if this means I'm fired for good, or if this is a step they take as I was actively pursuing a different role in the company.

Either way, this leaves me without a paycheck until this either sorts itself out or I find a new job.

I don't want donations, I want to work for my money. Since I'll be home for quite a while this guarantees a fast turnaround time.

I'm not really sure how to title this.

I joined a PRIDE group at my job to help my students advocate for themselves and fellow LGBTQ students. One of them asked me if I knew what it meant to be demisexual.

I didn't, so I went home and read.

And read more.

And more.

And the more I read, I started thinking.

You ever see or read something and go "That's me?"

That's what happened to me.

Pretty much my entire life I was turned off by "hook up culture". I couldn't see the point in bouncing from partner to partner. I thought it was stupid. I could look at a guy and go "Yeah, he's good looking" but if he made a move I'd run for the hills. Crushes were a rare thing. I thought maybe something was wrong with me.

I dated plenty of times before I met Blade, but each relationship ended for the exact same reason: they wanted sexual contact before I felt it was comfortable. I didn't feel like I had really made that connection with them. They were attractive, sure, but I wasn't emotionally attracted. I didn't feel like I knew them well enough.

A demisexual person needs those strong bonds in a relationship to feel any sort of attraction. When I met Blade, we were really good friends first for almost a year before I worked up the guts to ask him out on a date.

I also love my friends dearly, but this doesn't mean I wanna bang them all the time. It means that the friendships I've formed are that strong. It also explains why when certain friends left, it absolutely broke me. It was almost like breaking up with them. I love the friends I have now and would fight for them if I had to.

I guess TL;DR I did research to help a kid and ended up helping myself figure out my own identity.

Super dee dooper last minute but I shall be going again this year!

The basics:

*Getting there Thursday night stupid late, will leave Monday

On the 4th and I took an amazing fireworks cruise. We spent the night in each other's arms, surrounded by city lights and bursts of color.

It was there we reflected on our near four years together. The things we've gotten to do, places we've been. All our inside jokes.

It was there, under the fireworks, I plucked up my courage and asked him to marry me. Not only did he say yes, but he asked me in return (and of course I said yes)

We're super excited to make this next step in our lives. While we don't have any rings just yet (thus making this an "unofficial engagement ") we both know we're done looking, this is where we want to be.

I turned 30 today. Holy heck.

Hard to believe I've been around for almost a third of a century...

Boy, has a lot gone on since my last journal.

So, first: ANE was a success! Blade and I smashed our numbers from dealing last year by quite the margin and we're both excited about it. There's no greater feeling that finding you're packing up less stuff to take home than what you brought with you to begin with. ANE saw the debut of Senlin, who was just such a surprise and it made my whole weekend to finally have that suit in my arms, and I can't thank enough for that. It was great to see so many folks I don't get to see often enough, meet some new friends, and it was great chatting with folks who would stop at our table and check in with me (thank you so much for that! Especially to the one who shall not be named who left me quite the gift....Nisha!Rick thanks you from the bottom of her liver lol)

On the home front, there's been nothing since the break in. I got a police report in the mail a few weeks back, but it states the case is closed. Nothing has been recovered, I've been searching pawn shops, LetGo, Craigslist, everywhere. I doubt anything is going to be done at this point, especially with how long it took a crew to actually come to the place after the initial call.

I'd like to thank everyone who contributed to the GoFundMe I posted. I was shocked that it not only got fully funded but somebody kept throwing money after it after it was fully funded. I've had people coming out of the woodwork to help me this past month, and it was humbling. It says a number about this fandom, this community as a whole. It also not so subtly reminded me that you guys actually do care about me despite all the mud flung at my face these last two years. I've been chipping away at gift art for those who contributed, but all of you have my gratitude.

On that note, some other exciting news: Blade and I are getting a new home together! Right before ANE I found a gorgeous 2 bedroom home in a split level house by a stable, in a much quieter area away from the city, and two weeks ago we signed for the place together using the money from the GoFundMe. This Friday I get the keys, and I'll be fully moved in Easter weekend, then Blade will join me afterward. We're so excited to start this next chapter of our lives together - and to get the peace of mind that had been stolen from me back. Plus I'll have my own studio space lol, can't get enough of that.

Because of the move updates might be slow between packing and then transferring internet from this place to the new one. I just can't wait to be myself again.

Guys, please bear with me for a while.

I came home last night from watching the Super bowl game to find my door ajar. I carefully pushed it open and walked into a nightmare.

While I was out thieves broke into my home through the kitchen window and used the front and side doors to escape. They took two Tv's, my Xbox one and it's games and controllers, my laptop, a backpack (dumped everything out of it), and various priceless pieces of jewelry including some of my grandmother's things. My upstairs neighbor says he heard sounds during the halftime show and assumed it was me.

What does this mean? Updates and art commissions will have to be put on hold. That laptop was my primary work station and without it uploads will be few and far in between. I may take on some traditional badge commissions to help me rebuild. I can post updates from my phone and a laptop my mother is loaning me but there's not much else I can do at this point that isn't already done.

Please just be patient with me as I work my way through this nightmare. There's nothing more violating than coming home and finding someone else has destroyed your safe space.

Figured I had time to type this up before I ran off to a party tonight.

So.........2017. A little better than last year, but not by much. Rather than make this a huge TL;DR kind of thing, I'll just sort between the good stuff and the bad stuff.

Good:
*Blade and I hit 3 years together this fall, which is amazing. I've never had a relationship last this long before, and even with all the crap going on he's still at my side. I'll never know what I did to deserve him in my life.
*We brought our business Fuzzy Feelings to ANE 2017 and were met with astounding success. Since then we've sold at Furrydelphia 2017 at our own table and guest-sold at a few other cons since then, and support has been amazing.
*I've rekindled friendships I've thought I'd lost, and realized just how important these people really are to me.
*I landed a job as a special education teacher in early October, and not only am I now earning a comfortable, living wage, but I'm doing something I love and really making a difference while doing it.

Now, the Bad. Oh god, the bad:
*I've had to come to terms earlier this year that I suffer from anxiety and PTSD, largely in part to events that happened last year. I'm getting medical and emotional help for it but it still takes control over my life. It's gotten bad enough that i can't go to certain events or things without my rescue meds on me.
*The crap that happened last year carried over in to this year, and got worse. Even more people have cut ties that I wasn't expecting to, I've received physical threats, and still others are slandering my name/my business/my meets. I don't get the point of it honestly.
*I quit a job after I realized just how unsafe it was not just to the people I worked with but the people we provided a service for. I knew they wouldn't have my back early on, and when I made a legal and moral decision that I knew I'd feel bad about if I didn't do it, I got thrown under the bus and made to feel like I'd lose my job. It just wasn't worth it to stay.
*That whole A_B thing I had to do back in May has left such a sour taste in my mouth. I got such an outcry from the DAD community for -again- sticking up for myself, to the point that i left and changed Senlin's species to an angelic forest dragon. And even then, it still wasn't resolved. I got less than half my refund back and two boxes of fur scraps, not what was initially promised to me as a "half-sewn suit." It was such a nightmare, and then to get attacked for it afterward and made to feel like I should have walked away from $2k? Not cool.

So...hopefully 2018 treats us all a little better.
