Why Many Abandon The Furry Fandom

Posted 8 years agoFor a while now, I have been feeling extremely unsure about the direction this fandom is headed, and therefore unsure about my involvement and place in it.
Due to this uncertainty, and many of my concerns, I will be spending a good while pondering over my continued involvement in this fandom, in what manner, and to what degree, if there is to be any continued involvement at all.
During this time, I will also be collating all artwork I have acquired over the years of each of my characters and defining the worth/values of each character, in preparation of the possibility that, should I decide to no longer participate or involve myself in this fandom, that the characters can be sold off fairly and efficiently to any interested parties.
This journal is not making any definitive decision on my part, but simply as a notification of my intentions.
Due to this uncertainty, and many of my concerns, I will be spending a good while pondering over my continued involvement in this fandom, in what manner, and to what degree, if there is to be any continued involvement at all.

I Would Like To Open A Dialogue
Posted 8 years agoSo it's been running through my head recently about having some genuine dialogue and civil discussions with those who could be considered my ideological opposition, in one form or another, to any real degree.
There are generally so many factors to take into consideration that I am confident that MOST people would have some kind of disagreements with my own positions and reasoning on any number of issues.
In essence, however, I find it intriguing to listen to other peoples' positions and discuss them in a a calm and civil discourse. This is something I genuinely enjoy, and want to do it far more than I have been able to thus far. Unfortunately, I do realize the inherent difficulty of it, given the political and ideological divisions that currently inhabit not only our society, but the fandom as well. This divisiveness does have the shameful effect of making actual discussions difficult, as people are often so determined to bunker down into their own ideological camps and reinforce their echo chambers and unintentional goals of consistent confirmation bias.
Yet, I still want these discussions to occur. I want to be a part of them. I want others to be willing to engage, be our disagreements few or many. I want these engagements to be calm, reasonable, and civil. I want us to be able to express our positions freely, as well as express our disagreements and the reasoning for them, without the concern of emotional backlash, ad hominem attacks, or attempts at character assassination. I want us to be able to express ourselves and discuss issues without the fervent concern of attempting to "convert" people to our positions, but to be willing to simply hear each other out, and be comfortable in the likelihood that we will have to simply agree to disagree.
I want to have these discussions. I want to open this dialogue. I want genuine civil discourse to occur. I will be attempting to reach out to members of the fandom in the future, either individually or through groups, in order to present the offer of having a dialogue. I will primarily be hoping to have such conversations via voice/video chat via skype or google hangouts, and may at times want to stream these discussions to my YouTube channel, in order to open up these discussions for the public to absorb and consider.
However, if you are still reading this, and thank you if you are, I'd extend the offer here as well. Should you be interested in ever having a discussion, no matter how much or how little we share positions and perspectives, please do let me know, and I will work on finding an appropriate time for us to engage.
If you would be willing to do so, I'd also like to respectfully request that you share this journal in order to reach as many people as can be reached. This would go a long way in helping to hopefully bring in a far more varied group of people, with a greater variety of political and ideological positions.

What A Bother
Posted 8 years agoOne of the downsides to being a writer is that I have so many ideas for comics and the like. Long and complex stories, developed characters, compelling interactions and occurrences, etc.
Then at the same time, I lack the talent or the motivation to learn how to draw, so these ideas rarely, if ever, have an opportunity to come to fruition. A lack of sufficient money to have others draw them out for me also doesn't help. lol
What I'd really like to do someday is do collaborative work with a variety of artists in order to see these stories and characters come to realization. I couldn't even remotely think of anyone aside from
Thrasian who would be wiling to, or even care to, do any collaborative work, however, but even with him pretty much all of the ideas we plan to fulfill all revolve around our own limited number of characters only.
Maybe someday I'll be able to do some collaborative work with other artists as well, and if they're wiling to take a chance on me, I'm always open to be contacted. I'd contact some myself, but to be perfectly honest, I completely feel like I'd just be pestering them and I'd either be shit on, or outright ignored. XD
Well, who knows. Maybe one day all of these stories and ideas can finally be fulfilled somehow and be provided their own reality.

Basically what that means is because of the one slot I snatched, I can get multiple commissions from it. However, it's been a while since I got the spot, so I've kinda forgotten the original ideas I had.
So basically, I was wondering if anyone would be interested in joining me for some arts? If so, then I've got a couple of things to ask of you first;
1) What character(s) of yours do you want to use?
2) What kind of kinks/situations/ideas would you like to see done?
When answering these questions, take into consideration which of my characters you would like to be involved with. Here is a list;
