Life Changes
Posted 13 years agoIf you hadn't seen my FA status change which happened shortly before Christmas, well a major event happened.
Tzup and I decided to break up. Please don't bombard this post with a lot of questions about why or how. Tzup is a great guy; and always will be; thiings just didn't work out.
But I would suggest that anyone that doesn't know about DOMA (Defense of Marriage Act) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Defens.....f_Marriage_Act look into it. It's a lot of our troubles as a couple and why immigration for Tzup to the USA was impossible. Now, it does appear that those laws will be repealed eventually, unfortunately it was too late for us. As soon as things settle down, we intend to write a long story to Immigration Equality about our story and what laws did cause strains to our relationship.
It's been a long time since I've been single, 14+ years in fact, almost 12 with Tzup alone. I will not be looking for a relationship any time soon, as I'll need time just to reflect.
Thanks.

Rent-A-Cops - Bah-humbug!
Posted 13 years agoMy choir every years heads to a local mall to sing Christmas Carols to bring holiday cheer to all. We gather in the food court area and sang a few numbers, drawing a decent crowd. After about 20 minutes, the plan was to move to one wing and then the other.
So we depart from the food court and headed to one end of the mall to set up shop. We found a good location and start singing, attracting shoppers and a nice crowd once again. After the second song, a old guy, probably in his 70s in a rent-a-cop uniform hobbles over and tells us we can only sing in the food court area. What??
I understand there are some ordinances, and rules, but really? Come on? There weren't people complaining, in fact, there were people singing along with us and applauding. But with his request, we head back in the food court area for a little while longer.
Some one needed to sing a few songs of cheer to him when he was younger... :P

Iowa State v. Nebraska - classic football game!
Posted 13 years agoI always smile when I see this compilation and it cheers me up. Talk about crazy! I"m not always proud of my team's mediocrity, but I still cheer them on anytime! I believe we're still heading in the right direction with Rhodes.
Iowa State never had the best offense, so why not use defense to win?? This is a must-watch if you like college football! :)

How can it be December...
Posted 13 years agoalready? Rain... green grass.... temperatures in the 60s? I felt like I slept through winter and spring is just about here! Wait, green grass wouldn't be seen in March; the grass is always a matted down-dormant like tan color. Oh, it could be an early fall day October. No, the leaves would be falling, vibrant in color. This is definitely not the case, in fact, no leaves exist on the trees at all. Did I move and get transplanted in Mississippi? No, there are still corn fields, not cotton/tobacco around.
Maybe it's like in the Langoliers. Everything is used up; that's why the sky is gray, but there are people walking on the street so this IS the present.
Maybe I'm just dreaming...

Ugh.. I hate cars... and big corporate help desks-comedic!
Posted 13 years agoCars... ugh.. such money pits. tl;dr, skip to bottom...
So, Linn and I were driving down to a casino (probably the first bad sign) to play in a no-limit hold 'em tournament. I look down at my speedometer and I see the engine temp needle pegged at H. Ugh... so immediately I pull off onto the shoulder and as we slow down, the smoke starts billowing from under the hood. I quickly get the car parked and shut off the engine. Nice, burning coolant.
I call my insurance for my 24 hour roadside assistance. After pressing 5 different options and saying that I wanted the english menu twice, I get another menu, "would you like us to try and locate you using GPS through your phone, please press 1 for yes" and I press 1.
I immediate get a lady on the phone (not from India!) and she asks what the problem is. I politely say, "My car has overheaded, I am stranded in Iowa on I-380 between Cedar Rapids and Iowa City. I'm at mile marker 7 on the southbound roadway, and I need a towing service."
"Ok, hold on," she replies. I hear typing in the background as she's entering some data. "Ummmm... Sir, I'm sorry, that location cannot be resolved in our computer database. Do you have a town nearby?"
"Yes, well I'm about halfway between the towns of North Liberty, and Swisher, on Interstate 380." "Ok sir, we'll try that." More typing...
"I'm sorry sir, that isn't giving me anything, do you have a cross street?" "Pardon?" I reply. "THis is an interstate, they don't have cross streets".
I hear silence on the other end. "Ummm... can you hang on for a minute, sir?" She puts me on hold for the first time.
"OK sir, ummm let's try this again... " SO I give her as much details as I can, and once again explain how we are stranded at mile marker 7 on the interstante. "Sir, that's not a viable location... I ummm.. have to get my supervisor." By this time, rage lion ensuing. Once again, I am put on hold.
Her supervisor picks up the phone several minutes later. "Good afternoon, I"m blah blah, how can I help you?" In a more frustrated, and direct voice I say what I had said to the the firs rep."
"Umm yeah sir, that location won't resolve, is there a building nearby or an address?" I about lose it, "do you want the address of this cornfield I see out of my window???" He pauses, and then replies, "Well I guess that won't help, do you have a cross street."
At this point, rage lion ensues. "Look, Mister, fucking get a map of iowa out. Do you got one? GOOD! SEE EXIT 10???" The guys says "our computers state that exit 10 is in Cedar Rapids." "I DON'T FUCKING CARE WHAT YOUR DAMN COMPUTERS SAY!!! SEE EXIT 10, THAT'S TO SWISHER, AND EXIT 4, THAT'S TO NORTH LIBERTY. I'M AT MILE MARKER 7, 3 MILE SOUTH OF EXIT 10, HALFWAY BETWEEN THE TWO EXITS ON THE FUCKING SOUTHBOUND LANES OF INTERSTATE 380."
The supervisor says, "WE'll ok, we'll have to manually input that in. So you're just 3 miles north of exit 10?
"3 MILES SOUTH!!!!"
"Ok got it."
THen the rant, "HOW IN THE FUCK ARE YOU GOING TO FIND ANYONE IF Y0U CAN'T FIND ME ON ONE OF THE MOST MAJOR ROUTE IN IOWA??? WHAT IF I WAS STUCK SOMEWHERE REMOTE. YOU CANNOT TELL ME I'M THE FIRST PERSON TO BREAK DOWN ON AN INTERSTATE???"
"Sir, I apologize, we're trying to make the system better, but I think we've got it. I see here that you get 13 miles of towing free, but because of your troubles, we're going to wave that fee.
I angrily reply, "Well ok, thanks for that." "You should have a towing service calling you soon and you should be towed within an hour. We will send a txt message to your phone to let you know." Of course they had that number wrong too. :P
So I end the call. Having seen the smoke subside, we open up the hood of the car. Green coolant everywhere. Makes sense why things were overheating. We go back into the car and wait another 15 minutes. I then get a call from a local number. "I'm ABC towing, we're dispatching a tow truck for you at this very moment. We have you at Exit 4 on Interstate 380, is that correct.?"
I blink, and respond, "OMG, and burst out laughing" Sorry ma'am, I'm just so frustrated right now. I explained CLEARLY 3 times where I was at and they still got it wrong. Are you local?"
"Yes," "Oh thank God." I quickly explain that I"m I-380 southbound mile marker 7, and she goes "I know exactly where that is"
"Halleluiah!"
"Now this is going to be above and beyond your free rate, so you'll be charged for this tow"?
"What, I just got off the phone and my insurance told me that it would be free." More rage. "Don't worry, I'll get a receipt and work it out with them later." And she takes my credit card details and I thank her for helping me out.
20 minutes pass and the tow truck finally arrives. As he back up to pick me up, I see another car pulling in behind me. I look to see who it is, and it's Bryan, one of my old high school/college buddies pulling up behind me.
"Wow!!" I'm shocked to see him. He replies "I saw a vehicle broken down and I saw your plates so I came around to see if you needed help! I was ecstatic, "Sure Linn and I could use a lift!"
So the tow driver asked me for the details of drop off and I told him the Subaru dealership. As he was hitching up the car, we departed southward to head back north.
So a very eventful 2 hours and no casino trip; probably was for the better. Now to see the damage to the car. :p Regardless, my insurance agent is getting a call during his work hours. :P
Two things possibly wrong with my car. Blown hose, cheap fix. Or (with my luck) cracked radiator, and possibly a new (used) car search upcoming. :P Grrrreat....
Btw, thanks to everyone chiming in and giving me some possible issues that could have happened, and everyone who helped cheer me up during this frantic 2 hours. Also thank you to everyone that offered to give me a lift back home :)

So I started playing Dust...
Posted 13 years agoAn Elysian Tail last night. All I gotta say is "it would be a great game if it wasn't for furries being intertwined in the game" ;)
Now, I actually got started playing it at
Alshline's place which really got me into the game play. After only playing it there for about 3 hours, I decided to download it at home as well. I'll have to admit, I love the combination of it being a side-scroller, yet having the feeling of real time action with a simplistic "combat" style platform. Having the ideas of combinations and chains of hits is quite appealing.
I chose difficulty hard. It certainly isn't an easy game either; I've fallen the way several times and have had to restart at the nearest save point.
I'll have to I've enjoyed Dust just about an well as any other RPG/fighting game out there; the graphics and "cinematography" are just absolutely superb, and the game flow works very well. I'll have to say that there is some rather cheesy dialog, but I've definitely caught myself laughing as well too.
Would the game work without furry characters? Absolutely! But for some reason, tails just give it +50 awesomeness! :D

Grey Muzzle formula
Posted 13 years agoI've devised a simple formula to determine if you're a grey muzzle. Using 42 as a base score, because it's the answer to everything, here goes:
If your years in the fandom divided by two plus your ageis greater or equal to 42, you are a grey muzzle! Simple, short and sweet!
(#years in fandom/2 + age)>= 42
So I'm 34 and have been in for 13 years. 13/2+ 34 = 40.5 SCORE so I'm not a grey muzzle, yet. The 40.5 isn't supposed to be an AGE folks!
Btw, formula to change without notice to fit my situation ;)

Annual Fuzzbutt Golf Tournament complete!
Posted 13 years agoWell, it was a rough day for
Nbowa as day 1 at the TPC Deere Run took a toll on both
Delako and me. Due to windy conditions and my slice coming into play, not many greens were hit so Del scored a 24 to my 16 points; adjusted to 20 points with my 4 point handicap.
(point scoring: 0 for Dbl bogey or worse, 1 for bogey, 2 for par, 4 for birdie)
The Harvester on Sunday cause its own havoc. As we were warned the pins were in tough places, we didn't understand what that really meant until we go on the first green. Of course the greens were much faster than the practice ones, so we both putted past the hole. I was about 15' away with a downhill slider, so I tapped my ball and it rolled, and rolled, and rolled, 15' past. Del had the same experience with a closer putt. Good ol' 3 putt to start out. Well after, we were forewarned about the current tournament; Heaven and Hell, so we were immersed in Hell lol. I was elated to actually 2 putt a green for a par. After the turn, I had amassed 8 points to Del's 2 points.
The front played a lot easier, with me lipping out 2 birdie putts and he doing the same to get back into the game. However, on the final hole, he needed to hole out and have me not par to win outright; he hit an amazing chip that had a shot, but it ended up rolling past and off the green. Del's typified day ended as he one handed putted his ball in angrily from 15' and made it for a bogey.
Thus ended the first annual Fuzzbutt Invitational with yours truly as the victor!! :D
