Going to update FA with all the art i have so I have a nice central place for it all. Been a hot minute, since college, but FA is the OG so fuck it. Not changing that icon that, its gold.

Another trip around the sun
Posted 6 years agoIt's the 31st of March and that means it's my birthday. 24 and still hanging around with the degenerates. It's gonna be a busy day but I'm gonna try and do something fun. But really it's all about updating the age number on FA. (and to keep the existential dread of life progressing at bay).
Pi Day
Posted 6 years agoIts March 14th which means it is international Pi Day! I use pi pretty much every day doing signals processing. Sine and Cosine rely greatly on pi. Angular frequency is found by multiplying your frequency by two pi! Pi is used to bound what frequencies you can represent with a digital signal given a sample frequency. Pi is a fundamental aspect of Euler's formula (e^(i*pi) + 1 = 0) which gives us access to an entirely different way to solve equations. It is a wonderful number and enables a huge aspect of mathematics. I wouldn't be where I am today without pi.
Posting
Posted 6 years agoI've been on the biggest art kick of my life. I've gotten more in the past 6 months than the rest of the time i've been a furry (it's amazing). I'll be posting all of them here over the coming days. I'll also try to start posting some of my writing. I've been doing a lot of character work and that's what I'll be starting with. Aside from that i've been doing a metric butt ton of world building so that will also make an appearance. I don't get big views on here but I write for the joy of it and if others want to share the joy with me its all the better. For those that read what I make, thanks a million!
Quick Thoughts On Consumer Technology
Posted 6 years agoAs you may or may not know I am almost finished getting my undergrad in Computer Engineering (I have literally two classes and senior design until I'm licensed). I've also been in IT for the better part of a decade and system integration for a few years more. I've had the chance to use a wide variety of consumer to prosumer computers and I've noticed a bit of a trend. No matter what, no matter who you buy from and (to an extent) how much you pay, you are most likely going to have some kind of hardware malfunction in your device.
Throughout my college carrier the vast majority of computers I've owned were HP (I'm fucking poor and HP makes damn cheap computers), and almost universally they have all failed either at or just after the warranty period expired. The last one, an entry level HP OMEN laptop, died after a year and three months. A $1000 USD laptop, dead just over a year. My new computer, an MSI laptop, [which I like very much, it's really nice], has a defective touchpad and probably bad power management on the USB.
Of all the manufacturers I've used and repaired MSI has been the best to work with and on. I have MSI hardware in my desktop, I've built many machines with MSI mainboards and of the gaming laptop manufacturers they have a great reputation. That being said, however, even MSI isn't free from having bad hardware slip through the QA cracks. For most people, it's pretty simple to RMA the machine back to the manufacturer and have it repaired or get a replacement sent out. In my case, I can't afford the down time without a mobile computer. My desktop can do everything I need, but I can't haul it around campus all day.
My problems aren't crippling. I bring a mouse everywhere and aside from not being able to charge my phone the type C port works just fine. I've got the knowledge/experience to work around hardware glitches, but the vast majority of people don't. If you spend multiple thousands on a machine you are pretty much guaranteed a fully working machine that will last.
Take Apple computers for example. Sure, Apple's ecosystem is pretty locked down and very difficult to customize. Sure, once you buy the machine you can change (especially now-a-days) literally nothing about the hardware. But out of all the major PC manufacturers Apple easily takes the cake for longevity. One of my work machines is a decade old Macbook Pro that has been dropped and suffered major chassis damage. It may be a little slow by modern standards but it works completely. I've not seen a single Windows based laptop from the likes of Dell/HP/ASUS/etc that has lasted nearly as long. The long and short of this rant is the technology industry is chock -full of companies that go to extreme lengths to minimize cost in not only manufacturing and QA, but also design and integration. It's pretty difficult to buy a mobile computer that will last more than a few years. (This rant brought to you by Apple, go buy their overpriced and locked down garbage).

10,000 Notifications Cleared

Posted 6 years agoGonna try and check here more often. Had over a year of unchecked notifications and it's going to take me hours to clear it. I've gotten a lot of new art last year as well so I'll start posting all that shit. Less than a year left in Bozeman and then I'm fuckin out of here.
I have been writing quite a bit this year, but it obviously has taken a back seat to engineering. At this point I am literally 2 classes away from being able to actually call myself an engineer. Lots of staring at developer environments and debugging hardware systems. I also have to finish senior design (the balloon project) this semester which is going to probably take up most of my time.
I've also been doing a ton of world building for the book. It will (probably) just serve as reference for myself to keep details straight but it's already multiple tens of thousands of words long. If I can get away with it I'll publish that eventually after the book is done.
That's all for now, keep an eye out for more art of my beautiful babies and bitching about Intel and Nvidia (and Amazon, Google, Apple, etc.).

Back to the 'ol grind
Posted 9 years agoBreak is rolling to a close and that means it's time to get back to uni and work. Fun fun right? Well one can only slack off for so long. The class load this semester is going to be really light. Just three actual courses to help me get back into the swing of actually learning. Since I'm also working part time I'm hoping this schedule will allow for me to actually be successful, or m or successful for that matter. It'll be good I'm sure.
In other news I've fallen victim to a horrible illness; buying art. It's fun to see thoughts from my head and the paper come to life visually but it is not fun watching my wallet weep silently in the corner. That being said, seeing a character from a story universe represented visually has certainly driven me to actually get shit done. It's been a while but I do have projects underway that I think will certainly be fun to read. Also on the writing front I've actually been doing collaborative works with another writer. He's got a long way to go when it comes to skill but he has some interesting ideas that I believe will be excellent once completed.
I posted a week ago about how I had entered the editing business seriously. While I can't take on requests or writing projects if you have something, fiction or otherwise, that you want proofed or if you want a professional opinion or advice feel free to note me with a link. Part of being a writer, or an artist for that matter, is sharing skills and helping others to get better at their own trade. I like to think I'm good about giving notes on pieces so if you're up to it, note me!
Lastly I want to start pushing some traffic to my DA page. I've been posting my finished works and some new things as well. If you want to see any of my upcoming collaborative works or just my new stuff in general head over to here and keep an eye out!

The Editing Business
Posted 9 years agoWell I'm branching out again, well not entirely again. I've been proofing stuff in general for quite a while now. If you asked me five years ago where I saw myself today, the answer would probably not have been "proofing dragon porn." None the less it has been done and there's no real turning back now. This guy is really starting to improve and he is one to keep an eye on. You can read his piece here: https://www.sofurry.com/view/950564
Expand And Conquer!
Posted 10 years agoSo I've finally made the move to DeviantArt. I've been looking for a new platform for my work for a long time now and a friend convinced me to make the move to DA. Even from the beginning, I never claimed or intended to be a furry writer. I'm a science fiction writer first and foremost. What sense does it make to market to a single demographic. I know I lack in the update department but I hope this move will get me back on the posting track. I haven't stopped writing, quite the contrary. My current work load includes two pieces in the Expansions' Wake universe and an action adventure cop vs robbers short. Lots of things coming and here's hoping I'll get some more people to read them.
I would really appreciate all of my watcher's support. Spread the word and watch me over on DA! Hugs and kisses: http://needlessbird.deviantart.com/
