It's that time again when I feel a tad lost with my own work, as some of you probably know: I'm less of the type who creates for own enjoyment alone and more the type who enjoys
working together. Whenever you're a recent or longtime watcher, a fellow artist or a follower, your thoughts and opinions are important to me, so don't be afraid to say something.
I'm also curious to hear what kind of watchers I have in general, so the second portion of questions are more about you than me.
Feel free to skip any questions you can't think up an answer for! Also feel free to say anything else that comes to your mind :3
1. What was the reason you followed me for? What made you stick around?
2. What type of drawings do you most enjoy / find interesting from me? If you'd like you can link your favorite.

Tips: Artistic journey
Posted 9 years agoI decided to write down a few of those tips I've received over my life a few days ago, the ones that have helped me the most on my personal journey in creating drawings/paintings/other creative stuff. Maybe it'll be useful for others too - so I thought I'd post.

1. Learn to use mistakes as advantage, instead of erasing continue something new out of them or paint on top. That's creativity.
This is what my mom told me when I was little and frustrated that paint or ink dropped accidentally on the paper.
2. Dinosaurs were not necessarily brown or whatever you see already illustrated, take freedom in uncertain things, don't do exactly what someone expects you to, have fun instead!
What the teacher said when I asked about the colour of dinosaurs in grade school for our painting dinosaurs task.
3. Out there there are actual studies about how different shapes and colour affect human feelings, they can be used as an assistant when planning a picture.
Much later in grade school, it's what our art teacher told us - was actually a part of a lesson.
4. Don't be afraid to add lots of shading, it's like the second lineart that adds more definition of shapes into your figure.
The teacher in a comic & animation club told me when I was unsure if I had shaded something too much (it had too little shading).
5. Other artists often try to put you down by saying mean things, in order to make their work seem better. Learn to ignore and don't be an ass yourself.
I learned this while doing artbased highschool and hearing a lot of crap about "real artists don't draw animals" or "real artists don't love drawing commissioned work" - nobody can tell you what you love to draw and what path is the right one for YOU.
8. Art schools don't always provide or give the right information, don't blindly listen to what someone of a higher status sais, their opinions may be biased or past the due date - all humans make mistakes. Do your personal research aswell, test and try what works the best for your needs.
Just another thing I realized in the artbased highschool.
9. It's often plenty more useful to study all kinds of aspects in life instead of art courses. Knowing history, psychology, physics, crafting, fashion, architecture...etc. boosts your abilities to draw better. I realized this after going to a vocational school for cloth design and having improved much more with my drawing skills during than than anytime previously - and realizing that my past improvements was mostly thanks to the other courses in highschool aside from art itself.
10. Learning to draw is not only about actually drawing more, it's important to keep an artistic eye open to the real world aswell, inspect everything that is around you where ever you go! (It's still important to draw everyday).

Posted 9 years agoOkay so, I explored some more krita forums today, first eagerly reading about the upcoming comic features that sounded like something never done before.
Then I stumbled on drawing perspective... and I learned about features I had completely missed before.
BASICALLY
Step 1 - draw flat layout of a room / city
Step 2 - add vanishing points with ruler tool
Step 3 - transform your flat layout into perspective using accurate guide points
Step 4 - put assistant on

(as in, I didn't have to learn perspective myself after all, when the program already does it for me!)
I'll make a tutorial about this when I have time too, wooooh!

Posted 9 years agoToday Kahvi compiled OBS for me, yay for graphical streaming interface! :D
But one error occurred during the progress and I've already found out what it was!
When applying text on stream, they text will always have a slide gradient to white !!
FEATURE DUE TO ERROR OOOOO!!
Unless it's an actual feature, but I doubt something this stupid would be a feature that can't be changed XD

Forgot to enlarge sketch but already linearted? A Tip!
Posted 9 years agoSo, this happened to me again, thankfully this time on personal art wheeeh! I was drawing a piece for huge printing but it was only 2000x2000 but needed to be 4500x4500 instead! Uhhh!
This will only work if you're looking to have sharp lineart, it wont work on textured lines or stylishly blurry / partly transparent things. I use Krita 2.9, similar tools are available on other programs but they may function slightly differently!
1. Upscale piece, better results potentially come if you upscale into something very huge (then you can always downscale after).
2. Merge black lines with a white background layer
3. Take bucket fill and set it on a high threshold (I used 70) as white colour, but no grow or feathering!
4. Apply on white space, it'll eat up some of the gray blur around your lines! I applied the effect twice on all spots!
5. Filter > Colours > Colour to alpha on white, so lines are on transparent again. And there's that! :D
Before and after comparison on 200% zoom, up side of line is sharpened and underside is original upscale:

Now only smallest details need some refining, but no need to redraw yay! Hopefully you found this useful too :3

I started following Fiuefey quite some time ago, actually I think it was
through a critique group. I remember them saying that they really want
to improve on their work, and this is exactly what they've been doing since then.
I enjoy watching how they experiment with different themes
and possibilities of drawing/painting lighting.

This is actually the first time I see MrSenpai's artwork. The first thing
that I notice is that they're one of the rare people on FA who can draw humans
equally good well as furries. The next thing I see after browsing through all of the works
is the really good use of composition and light&shadow. They can also do a variety of
different and interesting finishing styles - I really like the way they shade especially.

22HD Cintiq review!! :3

But first off, still massive big awesome aweöfoiahweuigaure thank you to themoomoo for getting this wonder to me<3333333haweiugrdiurefioöjtrfgiöojk I'm so happy so so so so happy this is the most wonderful thing !!!!!! ;o;

The actual review
1. Well, it works as it's supposed to! I use Debian Linux and it worked pretty much plug and play, just like the other wacom tablets I've had, I only had to do a quick calibration for the pen and set the buttons as assumed. Works wonderfully with Krita aswell, also gimp. I've had zero problems with anything regarding with the tablets functionality, although that's probably thanks to not using windows :---3
2. Then, the physical tablet - good stuff! The pressure sensetivity and the pens accuracy IS AMAZING, it's a MASSIVE improvement over cintiq 12wx! It's a whole new world, seriously. And aaahhh it's so massive <3 No twitchyness, no derps, everything works. And aaahh more buttons to set shortcuts for than before, also touch strips are in a nice spot on the back! The screen is also a nice smooth surface and its easy to draw straight and smooth lines on, I don't even need the line stabilizer anymore!!
3. The little downsides: The power button is really easy to press if you move the tablet around, it's not a handy switch like in cintiq 12wx anymore. The buttons are slightly heavy to press, making it hard to tap them very quickly. The buttons are all the same and in a row, it's hard to tell them apart when you're working in dark and can't see their physical position. The stand is a bit... simple, it doesn't really give the tablet much movability, I'd like to get the tablet to come closer to myself.
4. Surprisingly the tablet is still light enough to also hold on lap aswell, although the cables come from middle of the tablet which make it a bit awkward and it also gets a bit hot sometimes! (nice legwarmer on winter tho) :'D

Most of my characters are my own species from the world Luceiry, Read more about Luceiry here. Though there are also many that have originally been based on normal animals to anthros, but I've been slowly converting them all into the world of mine. Some of Luceiry's species are made in the mind that it's easy to convert generic anthro characters into the world (so I can have all my characters in the same world and also easily make cameos into scenes yay)
