This sparked quite an uproar and i agree with this sudden uneasy feeling.
I'm here for the artist, the community. the site is merely a portal to which I have come accustomed to use ( there are so many others )
but in light of that I truly feel heart sore for those artist that are standing in this giant gray area the supposed reveal of "page 9" has caused.
Without knowing the complete in and outs of the sales agreement I suspect this is all speculation, but with saying that I feel FA (ie Dragoneer) has to reveal the inner workings of the deal to the community at large. I don't care about the monetary value of the site, i care about the possible changers to the TOS and rights of usability and I'm sure I'm not the only one that feels this way.
IMVU Clarification Post
"Fur Affinity is governed by the site's terms of use, not Google's, Apple's or IMVU's." - IMVU
In the end Dragoneer has signed away the site to IMVU and however they have not imposed their changers to it, I'm guessing they are able to at any time in the future without Dragoneer's approval.
In light of this, I will stay a member of FA, till such day that the artists I follow move along. say we are overeating, say it works out for the better... I certainly hope so for the community as a whole. If not FA may have drawn the last line for most.
Anyway I'd love to hear from those that do follow me, what are your views on this? jump ship? stay and watch how things turn out?

Starting Off On The Wrong Foot

Well this year has for me started off on the wrong foot. It's been a trying time both personally and at work but I will take it all in my stride and keep looking forward.
There are a number of things I'd like to achieve this year. I'm looking at joining some sorta art training. Doing a lot more doodling where I can and in the end would like to be happy with my artwork enough to consider drawing for others.
Anyway just my Monday morning ramblings.

It's Game Review Time!

It's Show Time!
So for the past few weeks i have had the pleasure of been invited and participate in the Wildstar closed Beta's. now I aint no world class game reviewer so this is all purely based on my opinion and so forth nor am I a a gamer that's ranked or anything of the sort, just your normal fuzzy noodle waking at the keyboard for enjoyment!.
So where to begin, Wildstar has had its fair share of bugs and hang ups but I feel they are going to be able to build up that game into something that is really quite special. I really enjoy their attempt to make the game light-hearted and comical and thus enjoyable to play. thought I feel the lack of actual NPC dialog outside of cinematics a huge setback and I know that is the one thing the team wont fix. Ah well, I need to do a bit more reading then expected... I'll live with the NPC's witty commentary.*nods*. Character customization although fairly basic, they do allow a little bit of freedom in terms of facial feature proportions. l would love to see more customization options. colour picker hair/eyes/skin and the likes as well as more hairstyles/faces for all the races specially more faces for humans... some of them just make your characters look... brutish or stupid. *pouts* I'm really enjoying the Chua and Aurin. but why the heck do Aurins have eyes the size of their heads * shudders* I always scale them down to a acceptable size... always!
The game play is fluent and you really get into the combat style. certain classes like the esper feel a tad bit .. slow compared to the others but they are enjoyable to play if your used to been a caster in other games.
their paths idea i think is pretty neat but the perks of each need a bit of tweaking, they dont server much of a purpose other then fluff in most cases or halving fall dmg for explorers if... "IF" the skill is active... thankfully you can cast it mid fall and possibly survive your mistake. ( has saved me a few times )
At the moment I believe there is a problem with players that have AMD cards but the team has stated this will be fixed and working by launch. I haven't had any issues in terms of my rig falling over during game playing. no terrible lose of frame rates.
Housing! oh, I like their housing and I spent an entire play session nudging furniture around my floating island. It's pretty in depth but I hope they do add more objects and building blocks in the future. more stuff is always welcome! hahaha.
i really like the fact that they put in mount customization and the wide selection of mounts i have seen running around is pretty impressive too. sadly the team has said no flying mounts v.v * le sniff * not that thats an issue. thier world maps are fun to explore and run around in. not just zooming over on a mounts back.
I haven't gone into pvp just as of yet as i was really looking at what the game can offer me as a player. (not a giant fan of pvp) but i hope you have enjoyed reading this and i hope to see some of you on planet nexus in the up and coming open Beta event!

Right this is an odd topic that has been on my mind, As I was wondering around the internet and sites like DA, Weasyl and even here on FA. I have seen those abbreviations more and more as of late. Coming across numerous a discussions about how (as we all like to call it) "art theft" is a terrible crime that is taking place in our little communities and to the most part I can understand the viewpoints of the artists behind the works. On the other hand I myself have traced, referenced and used other artists work in the faintest hopes that i can learn from them... how one artist drew their characters eyes, the other their hands. In the end trying to find out what I enjoy drawing and what I don't.
And thanks to that I feel that I have improved. Am I to be stoned for it? To be pinned as an art thief? See I have a little book that is quite close to my heart that confirms my views on this whole situations and I recommend giving it a read, its not very long nor is it very big but it's "Steal like an artist" by Austin Kleon. Now at first the title will raise some red flags but go on and give it a read... It may open your mind... even just a little.
Anyway I'm off track with what I was going to say about the the lovely little abbreviations "DMCA" see how I understand how copyrights work is that its a lengthy application placed within a state or area and is either approved or denied. a valid copyright is not slapping this little guy "©" wherever "YOU" see fit,
be it on anything.
This is to protect companies that actually take the time to go through the lengthy applications for said copyright. I cant go around and claim coke a cola's brand or can design as my own? I'd get thrown in jail for that! But here is where artists get their nickers in a knot. Your work is your own but you are by choice uploading it to the internet, to the world for all the see. You can not stop people from "stealing" it. You can stop them from downloading it with fancy scripts ( well you can try ), but you cannot stop their eyes from seeing. Their ambitious little minds saying "Oh! i like that "," That looks just like my idea of a character " and if you cannot handle that idea then by all means step away from the computers and stop posting your artwork!
On the other hand I do not condone people that go about and copy entire characters for themselves. Mimicking them for their own benefit. That is what I call "theft". That is the crime here. Not an aspiring artist that struggles to understand the basis of structure and form. Many a artist like myself have had no formal training in the arts, I do it cause I enjoy it but I constantly feel like my art is nothing cause of these fears of been picked out as a scam, a fake, a thief. Why? cause I referenced a knee from another drawing or even a pose.
So if you wish to scream out "DMCA" on someone please remember that you actually need to prove its your own in law and not just by saying but I made it. If its blatant theft then by all means contact the admins and the owner. But hey I'm not stopping you from making another me... I think your just silly for trying to be me. I'm faltered...but you will never be me.

The Year Was 2014
The clock ticked down as we all gathered around the table, the flickering lights of the candles illuminating the face's of loved ones, friends and family. gleefully toasting each other as we all shouted out "happy new year" as the clock ticked over.
It was a new year filled with new possibility's, new adventures.
anyway I'm planing on opening up commissions within this month, sketch and basic line work so if anyone is interested send me a note and I'll contact you with all the required information.
