BABSCon VA Q&A
Posted 11 years agohttp://youtu.be/enf8UTc__7E
Going to apologize upfront for the low audio, the PA system was almost this inaudible during the panel. They fixed it for Sunday, but I wasn't able to attend the whole panel and thus no video from then.
I had also intended to add pictures taken during the panel into the video, however the blue stage lights completely confused my camera. I'll upload the better pictures here, instead.. but will need to clean them up first. So far, only the full table shot was directly usable, and that's been uploaded already.

BABSCon
Posted 11 years agoBABSCon, was absofreakinlutely awesome! I will absolutely be attending this convention regularly, and will probably see about working staff there. Everyone was freaking awesome, the entire thing was fun and much hilarity ensued.
I will be uploading my video of the first VA panel, superimposed with the pictures I was taking during the event, if I can figure out how. Contour should create some slip on lenses for optical zoom.
Only thing missing was more full-blown cosplay. Some of the expected costumers never showed, and others I've (obviously) never known proved that there's still plenty of creativity out there.

To put it in visual terms, where I'm standing while taking the marina pictures is normally under a minimum of 20' water depth. The secondary launch is taken from the lower parking ramp, which used to flood seasonally.

Journals
Posted 15 years agoI rarely update online journals, and only one at that. This is not it. If you'd like so follow my semi-random scribbles, my central journal is located at:
http://netolu.livejournal.com
Expect updates at my whim, and typically they will be rants or bits of geekery.

To sum up, this morning there was a structure fire at our local animal compound. One of the houses used as an office and animal enclosure area was a total loss. In all they lost 38 animals, but were able to save 24. They must rebuild soon, as that structure was also housing for their reptiles which must be kept out of the weather. Skilled manual labor and funding for the rebuild will be required. If you can help in any way possible, please do so.
