More guest sketches!
General | Posted 17 years agoHello everyone,
Again,
rabbi-tom has astounded and flattered me with two new sketches of yours truly! Now the first picture is not necessarily "work friendly", at least by my standards.... and I'm quite embarrassed that he drew me as such, but it's still flattering nonetheless. And in the second drawing, I guess I'm saying things that would make a sailor blush in England. I'm not sure what they mean, but I'm sure that you guys can translate it with little or no issue. And no, I don't normally speak like that. With little knowledge of cursing in the UK, I would probably end up cursing myself by accident! I hope you enjoy them as much as I have!
Sincerely,
Neysa

Special cameo appearance!
General | Posted 17 years agoHello everyone!
I was so surprised and delighted to receive a message from
rabbi-tom stating that I should check his page. And when I did, I found this!

Wow! What an honor to be immortalized by the creator of Red Shetland! I can't begin to describe how flattered I was by this, seeing that I don't recall ever meeting Rabbi-Tom before. As Betty Boop said in "Who Framed Roger Rabbit", "She's a lucky goil!".
Sincerely,
Neysa

Got Flash?
General | Posted 17 years agoHello everyone,
I'm looking for someone who can make a simple flash which will just fade one image and show another. No morphing required. I can't make it an animated GIF because the file would be too big, I think, and I have not experience, let alone the software for Flash. Any one think they might be able to help out? Thanks so much for your consideration!

Neysa

What to say....what to say...
General | Posted 17 years agoHello everyone, or 'anyone', (not to imply that anyone actually reads what I put here) but I don't understand how people write diaries, blogs or FA journal entries for that matter. Perhaps my life isn't as exciting as everyone else's, but then do I need to tell everyone that I had a hamburger with onion rings for lunch (which I didn't)? To me, that just doesn't seem too .... riveting of a read. And I don't want to talk about politics or religion, because that immediately alienates or aggravates a large portion of the population. I would have to surmise that is why Meme's are so popular. There's enough ranting in our own lives to have to read about the rantings of others. Yes, this in itself is a rant of some sort, and it's also a free form flow of stuff from my brain to my keyboard, but there are times when I hear people complain, even if you offer suggestions to help, they are unwilling to accept. They seek not solutions, they only want sympathy. Yes, I know I am the farthest thing from perfect, nor am I "holier than thou" and by me even stating these things, I'll be stirring up controversy or condemnation by others, and for that I am sorry. But now, and for the past few years, when someone asks me 'how are you doing?', I respond with 'I can't complain', as their initial statement was rhetorical anyway. The key point is to just smile, and those around you will smile too. Yes, it sounds all too "Pollyanna" but most of the time, it really works. So I guess that's the whole point of this senseless blather. Smile and be happy, and what a round about way of getting to that point. Thanks for reading.
Sincerely,
Neysa

General | Posted 18 years agoWhat is the name of your fursona?
Neysa, which is pronounced, "nay-suh"
Where did the name of your Fursona come from?
Neysa is the name of a pony sized, black unicorn mare in Piers Anthony's "Apprentice Adept" trilogy. She was outcast from her herd because of her "common" coloring and short stature.
What species is your fursona and why did you choose that species?
Neysa is equine, or more specifically, Monoceros europus.
What color is your fursona and why?
Her coat is jet black and the left rear sock is higher up the cannon bone than on the right rear. In my case, Neysa's mane and tail are beginning to grey out, turning "salt and pepper" and she has a small star on her forehead.
What is your fursona's personality and how does this compare to your irl personality?
I could immediately relate with Neysa the first time I read about her in 1981. She is very quiet, shy and demure. But she is willing to fight when need be, and she can be a sensual woman under the light of the moon.
What is one item your fursona owns that is significant to you irl?
I would say that we both have glasses now. Although hers are much bigger "Harry Potter" type glasses than mine.
What is one thing you think you would say to your fursona if you could meet?
"Oh, my, God!" Actually, I might be afraid of saying anything so I would not frighten her off!
What is one thing your fursona would say to you if you could meet?
"Oh, my, God!" After we exchanged those two sentences, I think we would go get some coffee and cheesecake!
How has your fursona changed over the years?
She has become more open about herself and her sexuality. Plus we both have gained a bit more weight. Two plump mares!
How long have you had this fursona?
Since 1986
Would you like to be more like your fursona?
I would love to have the graceful lines of an equine that makes them so beautiful and wonderful to watch!
Ok now tag three other people you would like to learn about!
Well, I'm gonna tag four, so there!

General | Posted 18 years agoHello everyone,
I can't stand being in bed all day long (get your minds out of the gutter :) ) but at least I can watch movies while buzzing on the meds. So I got to watch two movies so far: Aliens (Special Edition) and Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome and figure, as long as I'm seeing pink elephants with chest bursters running around in my bedroom hallucinations, I might as well critique them for those who care and most others who only read this drivel because I get to make a fool of myself. Let's start with Aliens.
Aliens: Special Edition *not really spoilers ahead, but if you haven’t seen this movie yet, you either don’t like the genera or not from this planet*
The only time I have seen this movie was in the theater back in 1986. It was a great movie then, but an even better movie now! There was a great sense of camaraderie in that theater when watching the first time. I recall that the theater was packed, a sold out house, and we were all biting our fingernails when the aliens are detected by the motion trackers as being “inside the room”. Burke locks them all in the control center and some woman, sitting in the middle of the theater stands up and yells at the screen, “You son of a b*tch!”. We all cheered as it broke the tension. Well, the “Special Edition” didn’t really add much more tension, but it did show things I’d only heard about, or a few completely new things I would have never expected. As for the things I’d only heard about, people had told me about these robotic “sentry” machine guns that the Colonial Marines used, and I thought they must have been mistaken with another movie. Well, I concede, I was wrong. They utilized these weapons, although they didn’t really seem to do much good. I always regretted the fact that these Colonial Marines were armed to the teeth, but you never get to see what the “Bug Stomping” dropship, APC or the Sulaco can do with all those missiles, guns and cannons. If it were up to me, I’d bring a giant box of baking soda or Tums to neutralize their “acid for blood”. What was interesting about the “Special Edition” is that you get to learn history about Ripley, Ripley’s next of kin, Burke’s involvement with the ‘infection’ and Newt’s family among other things, like Hicks boasting about what sort of weapons they have. A total of 15 minutes of unreleased footage has been added to this DVD, so if you like Hicks and Hudson and Caterpillar Loaders, I would recommend this DVD highly! Two thumbs up.
P.S. If Bishop is programmed not to be able to “harm or by action let harm come to a human”, why did he say this just after he did the knife trick with Hicks? Was his AI that confident that no harm would come to Hicks even though he nicked himself? Contemplate and discuss.
Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome
I definitely have to admit that looking back at these two movies, you have to think, “wow, did I really wear close like that?” or “wow, did I really tease and spray my hair like that?” It’s much more apparent in Aliens than it is in Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome… until you see Tina Turner. When they sing, “One of these things is not like the other…” on Sesame Street, you have to consider that everyone in Mad Max’s realm speaks with an Australian accent that is either almost understandable or completely “out there” for a naive person like me, and then, Auntie Entity enters the screen with her chain mail, chicken wire and dog muzzle dress. Somehow, I feel that if they cast Grace Jones, that would have been a more fitting adversary. Otherwise, the movie is fun, and really interesting when it comes to the language the lost children have invented and the climatic chase at the end. Mel looks hot with both long and short hair, and there’s something to be said about homemade dune buggies and people wearing football/hockey pads for armor. I give it a thumbs up.
Well, there you go! How’s that for reviews of movies that are 21 years old! I definitely want to thank all the well wishers from yesterday, and yes, it really hurts like you say. The worst thing is when I’m either shifting in bed or walking around the rib pops out of position and makes a painful, “crunching” feeling. Definitely stops you in your tracks! Next movies on the list are Terminator 2 and Total Recall, a Schwarzenegger double header! Any more suggestions?
*Edit* Being as bored as I am when not sleeping, anyone else on AIM? Send me a private message and I'll tell you my AIM handle.

General | Posted 18 years agoHello everyone,
I wanted to apologize to everyone who was kind enough to fav and watch the past few days and I haven’t shouted back to thank you yet. On Saturday, I was involved in a horse related incident in which I thought I bruised the lower ribs on the left side of my back. It hurt so much that I was lying on the ground for about 45 minutes until I was checked out by a friend who was a nurse. I was sore but all things considered, I could breath deeply, cough, and had minimal restrictions on my physical movement. Everyone was amazed at how little damage I incurred.
Skip forward to Monday night at 1900, all I did was sneeze and I was reeling on the floor again. This pain was even worse and more severe than when the accident originally occurred. I’ve been hurt before, and when I sprained my ankle five weeks ago, it set the bar for pain, but I still did not cry, but last night, I would have told you where my grandmother keeps her good silver if you could make the pain stop. I cried in pain, lying on the floor almost paralyzed… and the muscle spasms… that made things worse because I couldn’t prevent those muscles from trying to move the injured area. Finally, after what seemed like forever, the pain subsided enough that I got up and sat in a chair in the dining room where I felt a … movement in my back. I was hoping that it was just my spine cracking but depending on how I sat back, something was moving. Bad thing I just watched “ALIENS” a few days prior!
Anyway, I was taken to the ER at 2100 and they took X-rays of my spine and ribcage…then we waited, and waited….and waited…. I started reading a magazine that was close by, a National Geographic, with a holographic image of an Australopithecus skull on the cover. I stared looking through and gasped at the advertisements for the brand new Dodge Lancer and Chrysler New Yorker with Ricardo Montalban posing next to it… Then an advertisement about how the new Amiga by Commodore outperforms the PC and has up to 8MB RAM while being as easy to use as the new Apple Macintosh. Heck, then there was an ad for the top of the line Apple ][c and the state of the art Zenith 27” color TV with detachable speakers. What year was this magazine???! I’ll tell you the month was November, but I’ll let you guess on the year to win a cookie! I know things take a long time in the ER, but you’d think they’d at least, at least update their magazines!
All in all, the ER doctor palpated my back, but things didn’t hurt as badly as when I arrived. That’s because I had been taking 800mg Advil every 3-4 hours so its analgesic properties were working well. He thought I just bruised my ribs and had injured the muscles surrounding them. When I asked him if he reviewed the X-rays, he said, “it’s cheating to look at the X-rays first before checking out the patient.” Now he didn’t mean this in a bad way, actually his bedside manners were excellent and he had a great sense of humor, especially because it was not 0100! So off we went to view the X-rays. He put up the first one and said, “see, everything looks fine, they all have nice curvature and…oops.” Well, at least he wasn’t performing surgery when he said, “oops”, but still it’s a bit unnerving. He flipped through a few more of the X-rays and said, “Well, there you go, see here, this is your…*mumble, mumble* 10th rib, it’s fractured right here.” And there it was, a clean break with the floating edge of the rib about 1/8” offset. The doctor believes that I may have had a hairline fracture the past two days but when I sneezed, that was all it needed to break. He gave me a prescription and I returned home at 0200. Coughing is terribly painful, and so is trying to blow my nose, but God forbid that I have to ever sneeze again. I had a tickle in my nose and I (and this is embarrassing!) rammed my finger up my nose to scratch and remove the irritant as quickly as possible. When I have coughing fits, it literally can drop me to the floor in pain, but another sneeze… oh, how I dread, DREAD I say!
So now, I am on Percocet and Tylenol but off the anti-inflamatories for a few day. They are running tests on my kidney to see if there is any damage and are fearful of the blood thinning properties of ibuprofen or asprin. And as I am sure you can imagine, I’m not in an amazing state of mind to respond to folks here for a few days, let alone keep my eyes open. So again, I apologize for my slowed or lack of response. Everyone keep drawing, faving and watching, and I’ll be in bed, hallucinating about you!
Love,

Sorry about that, Chief...
General | Posted 18 years agoHello everyone,
I'm very sorry about the self pity that I lambasted you all with in my previous journal. My problems are just that, my problems, but I am definitely grateful for your kind comments. I don't want to be a drama queen, but sometimes things just feel so incredibly overwhelming. For
indigoangelcat I took a cab and will get the rental tomorrow. I am sorry to everyone for poor judgement, self pity and being so emo.
And just for fun,
kensingshow did this for me:

Darkness...
General | Posted 18 years agoHello everyone,
Yes, let the drama begin... Are you reaaaaaady to be emo? Well, if you're not, I would recommend that you hit your back button right now before either you fall asleep or laugh your head off. Regardless, I'm just going to spout my mouth off, writing this on my sucky Moto Q, sitting alone in a restaurant in Las Vegas, drunk off my sorry rear on margaritas that come in fish bowls. Heck, if I look close enough, I think I can actually see the fish, either that or it's the lime.
No offense to anyone who may actually live here, and I know nothing about this series of movies, but the latest installment of Resident Evil shows the best use or future of this forsaken town. And armageddon couldn't come any sooner. Now it's not *all* that bad as I did enjoy watching Spamalot this past weekend, but that was with friends who visited me from California. But after they left yesterday, I realized just how homesick I am, how much I hate sitting by myself, eating by myself, living hotel to hotel, and staring at a blank laptop screen because the Discovery Channel is showing repeats of Deadliest Catch and Mythbusters.
I feel unappreciated by the "firm", distant from my friends and peers, and envious of those around me who are smiling and enjoying time with their friends and families. Oops, hang on...need to order another "firm" funded margarita...
Now where was I in my emo/rant... oh yes.. I feel that those who are close lack trust in me or my opinions. Although an arrogant and self-centered view point, I honestly believe that my opinions are sound and justified. Not only quantitively but qualitatively. Please forgive my spelling as it is getting harder to accurately punch these ridiculous buttons. Anyway, one finds that it is easier to just remain meek and nondescript and hide beind alcohol or...well, just alcohol in this case, and continue to let the proverbial water run off this mare's back. But what to do... and I think I have exceeded the max length of this dumb phone's text capacity. Well, nothing left to do but wander this mall and then attempt to drive back (god almighty, I almost said home) to the hotel. The drivers here in Vegas are attrocious and "holes of a donkey" but that is another story. Time to lay low and review my life priorities and hopefully not hurt/kill some innocent "fatherless son" with my POS rental car.
God bless.

My first meme!
General | Posted 18 years agoOkay everyone,
Here's my first attempt at a meme. It's nice and short, so I figured it would be a nice, gentle way to ease into the whole meme thing. I hope you like it!
Stolen from
warwind who said, "I won't tag anyone; do it if you'd like to. :P" So I stole it and here we go...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The 1st player of this starts with the topic weird habits/facts/dislikes about yourself; and people who get tagged must write in their journals about their 6 weird habits/facts/dislikes as well as state this rule clearly.
"In the end, you need to choose the next 6 people to be tagged and list to their names. Don't forget to leave a comment that says you're tagged"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
6 of my habits/facts/dislike:
1. HABIT: I tend to have a problem with being punctual. But I'm getting better! (only 3-5 minutes late instead of 30-60)
2. HABIT: I religiously floss my teeth at night and use Cool Mint Listerine ™. Although the new "Less Intense" Vanilla Mint is quite good too!
3. FACT: I must travel for a living as a rare "female geek", performing software installations and upgrades. I'm no genius when it comes to tech, but sometimes, just sometimes I impress my colleagues.
4. FACT: My bachelors degree has nothing to do with computers!
5. DISLIKE: Oh, this is guaranteed to start a flame war, so I hope I don't offend anyone, it's just my "personal" opinion. I hate it when I see people throwing garbage out of their car, especially lit cigarette butts. Are we that disrespectful to the world and everyone else who has to live here that you can just throw anything out the window without guilt or conscious, and don't say it keeps convicts with road side duty busy!
6. DISLIKE: I hate mosquitoes. I'm sure they serve some part of the ecosystem (yeah, yeah, I know they're food for others higher up the food chain) but do they really need to suck blood and be so incredibly annoying?
I really don't know anyone to tag, so I'll try this and hopefully won't be irritating to those I tag.

Also, I think I wanna try a meme finally. Does anyone know of one that isn't three billion questions long? How about a nice short one about ten questions or less?

Genus and species... Taxonomy 101
General | Posted 18 years agoHello everyone,
Just a minor observation and potential gripe, but is it me or is the "species" drop down list for submissions a bit lop sided? Granted that they have a pretty good grasp of Family Felidae, but no Family Cervidae (Deer and Moose) or Family Sciuridae (flying and nonflying squirrels). Heck, there seem to be quite a few unicorn pictures but for some reason, we're not listed. And I am sure that there are plenty more not listed, and for sanity sake, I know they can only list so many. I'm not asking for them to break it down to "Kingdom, Phylum, Class, etc." but at least a few more Families or Genera could be added. Okay, time to get off my soapbox. Anyone for some grilled Ailuropoda melanoleuca?
