Shocking! The Return of a Wayward Stag (G)
I dipped my cloven hoof into the water last night to see if I would get a reaction. To my surprise, I got it.
So now Ive been sitting here for a while, trying to figure out what to say. Its been so long. I guess I should begin with an apology to my fans and friends, as I just kinda disappeared. But I had good reason, I believe. Long story short, life happened, and I found myself without a 'muse' for the longest time. It more or less died. Call it artists block or whatever youd like...I just couldnt get my motor running despite all I tried. Id sit there, try to sketch a while, wind up going "that looks like crap" and just giving up on it. I tried playing old games and watching stuff that inspired me to begin with, still nothing. So I wound up just focusing on my work. My largest project to date being an event venue, as seen here:
https://www.facebook.com/pages/cate.....8677470908194/
If its wood or metal, I made it. It was quite a task for only me and one helper. These days I find myself working events there, maintaining the grounds, etc...its a nice change of pace from hauling lumber all day! (Although I am in the process of adding a new wing to the place on the far right, not seen here...)
But as time went on, I would find myself slowly getting the interest in illustration back. A scribble here, a sketch there, I even did a few colored avatars. But I never did get around to posting them. Didnt think I was "ready". Well, I still somewhat feel that way, and Im definitely a bit rusty, but I feel that the time has come to rise again. But this old husk needs to be cast aside- from now on you will find my work under the account,
stag which also happens to be the alias Ive gone under for a number of years now. The account has existed for a looong time before I ever really did anything with it, but there it is! Go +Watch it if youre interested in my future (and possibly past) works.
Im starting to get new work done, there are a few pieces which will be ready soon, and I will possibly post older art there on occasion, including stuff you (probably) havent seen. Did you know that I and
kierstal did the interior illustrations for the original PONYFINDER book? Maybe Ill post em there if there is interest.

I wont be using this account anymore aside from an occasional journal ping, in order to alert more people that my account has changed. Thank you so much for those of you who have kept me in the back of their minds as Ive been out of my own for a while. On a tangent, what a shitty year, right? Even before this virus crap took over, and the rioting, and everything else, I started my year by falling off a roof and landing on my feet. Ive now got a permanent minor limp and can crack the bones in them along with most of my other joints. My mom had a stroke (shes fine, and went on to have no permanent side effects), my truck died...hell, maybe a little art will make things better. It was always a dream of mine to make something of my drawings, even if a number of walls have gone up in the way over time. But as Ive told other friends inquiring about my art status, "dreams never die, they just go back to sleep until sought after." Lets see if we can wake em up again.
