How I got the ideas for my characters

Do any of your characters resemble yourself or some of your personality traits? My characters do, each one of them had at least one of my personality traits or traits of any person in my environment. And I feel like sharing that. In case anyone wondered who the characters are based off of.
Nick is obviously a cartoony embodiment of myself as a whole. He is entirely me in every possible way. He's how I view myself as a person. That may differ from the POVs of other people, but this is how I see myself.
Lori has my sassy and (pseudo-)rebellious side. I want to try and be more like her, which means, be more extroverted and go out and do stuff. She also is based off of a girl I've been with for a short time while in college. She was in vocational school still but she was crazy and a fun person. I wonder sometimes what happened to her.
Fred has my happy, adventurous and playful side in him, he is a lot of what I want to become or do in the future. I want to travel a lot more, enjoy the scenery, city and nature, and I also plan to become a licensed skydiver in the future. That’s part of why I do so many skydiving pictures with Fred. When the times are better and I have sufficient funds, I'll definitely enroll in that journey!
Destiny has my wild, crazy and restless side in her. I can’t hold my feet still and have to be active at all times, walking around or doing anything I want/have to do. Though I wouldn’t do any of the dangerous stuff she does like 200 mph stoops or risky speed flying or anything like that. Either way, she's my active side, to make it more simple.
And Steve has a bit of my sternness/strictness in him. For some extent, Steve is a parody of the US republicans due to his beliefs (not exactly specified, his bio just says he's very conservative and religious), and also represents my dad in a few ways, because he (my dad) is an aviator and a military guy as well.

The front page...
Posted 5 years agoIs there any actual art still being posted? Like 90% of all new pictures are either YCHs, auctions or anything which people charge money for. And it’s starting to annoy me.
With this, I wonder: Can I change what I want to see on the front page? Like can I blacklist certain words or something that I don’t want to see? (AND I DON'T MEAN THE SFW/NSFW SWITCH)
I'm not online too frequently which is why I am wondering. Hope someone can help me with that.

My characters (ref sheets and their stories)
Posted 5 years agoThis is for my two bird characters that I made in June last year. Wasn't planning on doing a whole lot with them, but that quickly escalated I guess. I have to give a credit to Fistron on DeviantArt for helping me out with the decision, because I finally gave them names and personalities! Here they are, meet Fred and Destiny!

Fred:

1.Name: Fred (stands for Freedom (funny because he's a bird)
2.Gender/Species: Male / Bald Eagle
3.Sexual orientation: Straight
4.Appearance: White head, yellow beak and feet, black plumage, very long wings that allow him to glide through the air for very long without him having to do anything, and bi-colored tail feathers
5.Personality: Happy, cheerful, open-minded, bubbly, playful, adventurous, very protective over his friends
6.Eye color: None, but normally blue I guess
7.Birth town: The cliffs on the coast, in his parent's nest
8.Family: Mother, Father, 4 unknown siblings
9.Friends: Many eagle friends and his falcon girlfriend Desti
10.Likes: Nature, oceans, coastlines, freedom, flight shows, fish (especially salmon), doing back flips and barrel rolls during flight
11.Dislikes: When others pick on his friends or try to limit him too much
His story:
Fred was raised by the coast and has always found great fun in air stunts. Since he likes flight shows a lot, he visits them regularly and tries to imitate the stunts performed by the various airplanes afterwards. He especially loves doing back flips and barrel rolls while flying. As he got older, his adventurous nature pulled him into the inland and the mountains more, where he got to meet Destiny.

4.Appearance: Brown plumage, yellow beak with a brown tip at the front, wavy hair, gray feet and very long brown tail-feathers
5.Personality: Happy, charming, loud sometimes, a little overconfident, very brave, loves the danger
6.Eye color: Blue
7.Birth town: In the mountains by a cliff
8.Family: Mother, Father, 2 unknown siblings
9.Friends: A lot of falcon friends and her eagle boyfriend
10.Likes: The mountains, nature, freedom, fast flying, nosediving, doing barrel rolls, flying through tight places
11.Dislikes: Rude people, injustice, people who try to harm or limit her
Her story:
Destiny was raised in the mountains, where most of her falcon friends live.
During her teenage years, she has tested out her boundaries a lot, by either flying very fast, through tight spaces or excessive nosediving from high up. She always enjoyed it, but had to pay for it a lot, as she has had a foot fracture, 3 sprained ribs and 4 broken wings. But it didn’t stop her from continuing with her dangerous flying. She is now more aware of when to stop, but her friends and Fred are very worried sometimes.

How they met:
Fred was exploring the inlands on his own when he reached the mountains. After a while he started to notice that a lot of species were harsh rivals with one another. Especially birds of prey. He had unfortunately seen eagles and falcons battling to death. He started wondering why, but he always was rejected with the argument that "it’s in the nature". Destiny shared the same experiences as Fred, and when Fred saw her for the first time in a group of 3 falcons, she immediately spiked his interest. When she finally was alone, he took up all his courage and went to her. Destiny didn’t want to talk to him first out of fear that they would be seen together. So they went in the deep forest and talked their souls out to each other. They got along really well, so Fred asked Destiny if she wanted to meet up in a secret place with him the next day. Destiny was unsure, but said yes in the end. The next day, they met at said place, and went flying all around the mountains, showed each other their favorite tricks and places to be, and had a lot of fun. After about a month of secret relationship, it came out due to them getting busted by another eagle, who immediately spread the message. Initially, Fred and Desti were about to be victims of the horrific anger of the 3 falcons Desti was seen in first, but before that could happen, the two finally said what should've been said long ago. "It doesn’t matter what or who you are, in the end, we're all the same and share the same abilities. We all hunt, we all fly, we all share the same earth and want to live a life in freedom." After a few negotiations, all of the birds agreed to stop the interspecies war and to get along. Since that day, Fred and Destiny are living happily together in a healthy relationship and fly together daily.
I hoped you like the stories about my two characters! I might change the ref pics some time later. Thanks to Fistron on DA for helping me out with the names!
