I come back from the weekend and I have a billion journals of people bitching about the banner.
And then a billion more about people bitching about people bitching about the journals.
...Though I guess I'm guilty of the second.
Here's a little secret that I do with a good 50%-75% of FA's banners.
1. Right click the banner.
2. Adblock plus: Block Image.
3. Click the first radio button.
4. Click the Add filter button.
5. Never see a banner until the next one.
Fuck, you can even click the second radio button and never see a banner ever.
I also do this with a good 10%-25% of user icons.
Both Firefox and Chrome have adblock, I know for sure.
Most other browsers probably have some equivalent.

General | Posted 14 years agoWith the release of 1.8, I'm told a significant number of changes were made to the world itself. As such, I will be starting a new one.

Now, onto messengers.
I'm starting to use my status to indicate, well, my status. So, here's a quick rundown of what they mean to me.
Away status, message contains (work): I'm at work and, well, working.
Online status, message contains (work): I'm at work, but i've been given jack all to do. Replies will be quicker than the away status version, but I may be still trying to /appear/ to be working.
Away status, message contains (phone): I've shut down for the night, and i'm just talking a bit before bed. The later it is, the higher the chance I've passed out.
Online status, message contains (phone): Usually I use this when I'm not feeling well or I just feel like lying down. Odds are I'm fully aware of my phone, and will respond quickly.
Online status, any other: I'm at my computer. woo.
But yeah, I felt like throwing that out there, because i can.

General | Posted 14 years agoSo, turns out I was included in Nintendo's Ambassador program, despite not signing into my 3DS between the day they announced it and the cut off day. I'm assuming then, that they took into account sign ins/purchases made previously.
So yeah, I'm rather happy about it, even though I already have a flash card and an NES emulator on said card, so I could already play them on my DS, but whatever. XD
I'm more excited for the GBA games, because there is still not a GBA emulator for a DS flashcard. So those will actually mean something.

General | Posted 14 years agoThe ability to remove the ability to comment/favorite submissions, but i've droned on enough about that.
I really, really want the ability not to watch people's journals.
I actually read journals, and they're the quickest way to alienate me out of watching you.
I get it example A, you're lonely and want someone to talk to, for fucks sake please make less than 30 journals a day.
I get it example B, you're taking commissions, I don't need to know 3 times a day.
I get it example C, you're an emo fucker 24/7 no matter how everyone comments to comfort you, enough with the daily journals about how your life sucks because of some trivial ass thing like your parents wouldn't buy you the latest iteration of call of failure.
This is one of the few features I miss from DA.
Note: If you read this, there's a pretty good chance it's not referring to you.
Because if you read this, odds are I talk to you off of this site, and I would have asked you to cut this shit out personally. Because being blunt/honest is how I roll.

Understanding
You are willing to take the time to find out what's going on with other people, especially if they're in distress. You're a good listener, you don't criticize, and you offer unbiased, respectful, honest advice when it's requested. With a high score on the "understanding" trait, it is likely that you are enthusiastic about charitable work, helping others, and making the world a better place.
You don't feel the need to impose your standards on others or say things that, even though true, cause pain.
Sympathetic
You have a knack for knowing what's going on in the hearts and minds of those around you, without their having to tell you explicitly. People tend to turn to you with their problems because they know you care, and that you will likely offer good advice and a helping hand.
You do not feel that people with sad stories are just looking for attention, or have brought their problems upon themselves.
Curious
You like to get to the bottom of things. You're not content knowing what someone did; you want to know why they did it.
You don't simply take things as they are and move on; you're not content skimming along on the surface; you don't feel you're wasting time by digging for the meaning of things.
Warm
You have a genuine interest in other people. You're a natural host, and are always thinking about how you can increase the happiness of those around you. When friends have problems or are in trouble, you're usually the first person they turn to for aid and comfort. Scoring high on the "warm" trait suggests that you are among those who enjoy domestic activities — doing things around the house — and are enthusiastic about charitable work, helping others, and making the world a better place.
You don't always say exactly what you're thinking; you don't like the idea of causing anyone pain because of your criticism.
Scrupulous
You are an honest, fair person. You don't lie or cheat to get ahead. You treat others with respect and hope for the same in return.
You do not feel that you are above the rules that everyone else follows; you are definitely not willing to do whatever it takes to get ahead.
Upbeat
You enjoy being around others and others enjoy being around you. You have a "live and let live" attitude; because you know that no one's perfect, you are forgiving and happy to give the benefit of the doubt.
You don't feel the need to be controversial or express contrary opinions all the time. You see no reason to go around rubbing people the wrong way.
Empathetic
You are in touch with your own feelings, which helps put you in touch with the feelings of others.
You don't buy the logic that your happiness comes ahead of everyone else's because unless you're happy you're incapable of making anyone else happy.
Cooperative
You enjoy teamwork, play well with others, and prefer getting along to winning.
You're not compelled to win every contest nor to be right all the time.
Responsible
You fulfill your obligations and responsibilities, are true to your word, and generally obey the rules. While the majority of those who have a high score on the "responsible" trait enjoy traveling, they are usually very happy to return home — and don’t mind staying put for a while.
You're opposed to making hasty decisions, you don't insist that you're above the rules, nor do you feel compelled to color outside the lines.
Conscientious
You feel it's important to work according to a plan and finish every task, to do things correctly and thoroughly.
You are not the kind of person who abandons a project before finishing it, or slacks off when you've lost interest.

General | Posted 14 years ago...Well there's a few things.
- I'm sick and tired of shitty/sexual icons, I don't mind on FA so much (adblock ftw), but I can't do squat on messengers D:
- I can't bloody stand the idiots that goes around replying to other comments in a journal or submission that is not theirs. That's great you have your bloody opinion. Guess what? NO ONE GIVES A FUCK. LEAVE YOUR OWN DAMN COMMENT IF YOU MUST AND THEN LEAVE KTHX.
- It pisses me off ten fold if it's ME they're replying at. If I leave a comment on a submission/journal, IT IS INTENDED FOR THE OWNER OF THE JOURNAL/SUBMISSION, NOT FUCKING YOU.
GTFO.
- It pisses me off TEN FOLD FURTHER if the comment has NO RELEVANCE WHAT SO EVER TO MY GOD DAMNED COMMENT.
- Going into livestreams/etc and people I don't fucking have a clue who they are glomp, pet, hug, etc at me. Don't touch. I will bite your face off.
I'm a very friendly/nice guy in general, but if you act like a dumbass in public, I'm going to treat you like one.

General | Posted 14 years agoI find it kinda funny, after visiting austin the curtains I have on my window are starting to come off.
When I moved into my apartment, I bought these curtains and taped them up against my window, because I didn't want to have to deal with filling in holes when I leave, and I needed something to block out the light, especially at night (There are street lights /right/ outside my window, and I need near perfect darkness to sleep)
I've lived here for a bit over a year now, and they've never had issues, and I've hardly ever considered going somewhere else.
But since I've been back from that trip, the tape keeps peeling off over and over again, and my thoughts continue to wander outside this apartment.

Ramblings Pt 2
General | Posted 14 years agoSo after talking to a bunch of people, along with my father tonight, here's what I've decided.
1. I'm not going to break my lease, and at the end of it I'm going to temporarily move back in with my father.
2. My dad suggested if I'm set on moving to Austin, I should fire a resume off at Dell. Can't hurt, I suppose.
3. I'm going to seriously push myself into making Android applications, because if I can make good money this way,
a. it's money, huzzah.
b. it'll look good on an resume I'd assume.
and c. If I can do well enough that I can make a living off of it, I now have the ability to move anywhere in the world that has an internet connection.
I really like c., but that's probably not realistic, but you never know!
But yeah, the thing that's really stopping me from trying harder to move is the fact my job now /is really damn good for someone who doesn't have a college degree/
Odds are, I'm /never/ going to get another one like this without buying into the scam that is college education.
So, yeah, as much as my heart wants to move now, I'd rather not do it and become a burden/bum/dead broke. SO, time will tell how things play out.
On another note, I got a trial of City of Heroes, and from what
wesleyfoxx tells me about it, it sounds like something I'll probably end up paying for. Does any one else have this?

General | Posted 14 years agoSo, I took a good, hard look at my current situation, and after visiting
surge and
lukesnowcat this weekend, I realized that I don't really like where I am.
Sure, I have a good job that pays me well enough to live, and for the most part isn't too bad. (Though, stressed right now because my boss is gone and things aren't going as smoothly as I want), but there's a huge problem I have with my job.
I'm stuck in the one place that I want to get the hell away from. I can't stand most of the people here, and I especially can't stand this god damned heat/humidity. There's nothing and no one for me here, and I want to be able to move.
However, my current job has no way of me transferring to any other position or location within HP. I'm stuck here until I quit or I'm fired.
The problem, again, is that I, for the most part, love my job, and I don't want either of these things to happen. But the fact remains that I hate Houston.
So there's a few options I have.
1. I quit my job, move somewhere else, and try to find work there.
This option kinda sucks, because it took me forever to find work before, and my bank account won't support me for more than a few months without a job. I don't like uncertainty.
2. Start applying to places outside Houston while still working this job.
This has two problems. One, it has me looking for employment while employed, if my employers caught wind of this, I'm sure I'd be fired on the spot. Two, this would probably require me to travel to said place for interviews, and again, employers would ask questions, and I'd be fired.
So, I'm going to try option 3.
3. Find a way to make money in my free time, that doesn't require me to be employed by another company.
Basically, self employment. Sounds great in theory, but it's hard to execute. There's only one way I could possibly do this, and that's through using one of the only things I pride myself on, programming. As I type this I'm configuring a setup on my computer to develop applications for the android platform. I realize that it may take YEARS of me doing this before I can make even a slight amount of money, and I'll probably still fail. But there's a chance i'll make something good, and it catches on, and hey, i've got NOTHING to lose with this. If I do manage to start doing well, I probably won't quit my job right away, as I don't want to leave my current coworkers out to dry x.x I'm not that much of a jerk...
So yeah, I'm going to finally start seriously programming stuff, so here comes the point of this journal.
If you have an android phone, I have two questions for you!
1. Would you be willing to help me test random applications? I /do/ have an android phone, but it's only one phone out of many, and I'd like to test as many cases as I can. Anyone that helps me test it, obviously, will get whatever I make free of charge. (Also note, if you comment on this journal and I don't have a damn clue who you are, I probably won't ask you to do this)
2. What do YOU want to see in the market that isn't there already/is too expensive/you just want more of? While I haven't worked this detail out fully, I plan on releasing two versions of every application I have. One free version that has ads stuff inside (preferably as non intrusive as I can get), and one paid version that lacks said ads, which would still be rather cheep (I'm thinking like...a quarter or around that range at first, or whatever the minimum is if I can't go that low. The more time/effort I put into these I'll charge a bit more, but I doubt I'll ever charge more than a buck or two.)
edit
It's not much, but its proof to myself I can be serious about starting a program.
http://db.tt/oISvdbS
You won't be able to use that file without an Android phone.
All it is right now is a button that keeps track of how many times you press it.
Anyway, I think that's about it. If you read it, you have too much time on your hands.
if not, I don't blame you.

You won't be able to use that file without an Android phone.
All it is right now is a button that keeps track of how many times you press it.
Anyway, I think that's about it. If you read it, you have too much time on your hands.
if not, I don't blame you.
And now it's beer.

A journal with actual importance?

Here's my 2 cents on this:
I find it funny how so many people can't just think with a level head when it comes to this kind of thing, it's disgraceful.
I'm just going to say it right now, I /hate/ cub porn. Fuck, I hate most porn /period/.
Yes, I'm a furry that isn't too keen on porn, it happens.
But after reading that? Assuming what he wrote was the whole and complete truth, every single admin involved in this needs to be removed. Now.
I don't want some hothead power-trip who's using their position to enforce what they do and don't like.
Your personal opinion should NOT get in the way of how you administer a site.
Again, this is coming from someone though who
a. only has one side of the story.
b. has never heard of this person before.
I could very well be wrong, and no doubt I'll have plenty of simple minded people either tell me "you are" or "you aren't" without saying anything else to back up their statements.
In the end, this does make me want to switch over to inkbunny, but i won't because it's seriously over-saturated with cub porn, and again, not a fan.
---edit
Again, I want to stress this is an opinion of an outsider that only has heard one point of view, and has never heard of this guy before.
If anyone wants to link proof this guy is full of shit, like everyone claims, feel free.
And no, that doesn't mean "well, he did this one thing one time..."
I don't care about past, I want evidence from /this/ incident.

Now would be a good time to unwatch me.
General | Posted 14 years agoSeriously.
On top of nothing but stupid journals, I'm now going to start posting a comic I'm drawing.
It sucks.
So much.
So why am I doing it? Because everyone starts somewhere dammit, and it's time I got off my ass, stopped making excuses, and start.
I have the drawing ability of a 2 year old, though, so it sucks.
But regardless, this has been your warning, don't complain |:
Oh, here, i'll even give you a convenient link.
