I Can't Stop Thinking About Crumbo
Posted 2 days agoI'm sure you already know how much I love Crumbo. He looks a bit like an albino gorilla with the cuteness of a Japanese snow monkey, he's able to walk on four legs or upright like a human, and he has a foul stench like a grizzly bear, but personally, I think his species is a bit more closely related to the orangutan, or its extinct ancestor, the gigantopithecus.
Deleted My Old DA Status Updates
Posted 2 days agoI just finished deleting my older status updates from my history of being on DeviantArt. I doubt you guys would've cared about what I said back then. It was mainly just me complaining about political correctness and hating on Disney and their live-action remakes.
Hey There
Posted 2 days agoHi there. How are you? I've been in the mood to talk lately. If you want to ask me what my Discord username is, then feel free to send me a note. If you don't use Discord, then that's OK. We could chat to each other with notes. I also have a Telegram, but I don't use it as often as I think I should, especially when Discord is down. I'd be happy to make another online friend one day, someone who I could chat to when I'm bored, but I don't want to chat with people who try to scam me or ask me if I want to spend my money on a commission or something.
I Wish...
Posted 3 days agoI wish I was more open about what fictional characters I really like or have a crush on.
Some of My Favorite Movies
Posted 3 days agoI'm not very nostalgic for the pre-COVID era of the late 2010s, not as much as some people are these days, but the one thing that I miss the most about it is the amount of animated movies about Bigfoot/Yeti that were released. I'm talking about movies like Smallfoot, Missing Link, and Abominable. A lot of people would dismiss those movies as bland and forgettable, but personally, I kinda like them. They're some of the things that inspired me to make Crumbo my main character.
I Want to Ask Something
Posted 3 days agoThere's nothing wrong with identifying as a furry, being interested in furry artwork and cartoon animals, or being a part of the furry fandom... Is there? I'm asking this because I've seen people being mocked and ridiculed on the internet just because they were furries. After all, I sometimes like to think of Crumbo the Yeti as my main fursona.
Bats Are Still My Favorite Animal
Posted a week agoI love bats so much. They're not only my number one favorite animal and my favorite thing about Halloween, but for most of my life, I always found those little guys quite fascinating. I don't like the bad reputation that these animals get in the media. Just look at video games, for example, where they are often portrayed as the most annoying enemy.
I Don't Like Zootopia
Posted a week agoYou know, I like watching animated movies and cartoons that feature anthropomorphic animal characters. However, I'm not a big fan of Zootopia and I'm not really looking forward to its sequel. I've already had a bad experience with the first movie, even though a lot of people young and old consider it a masterpiece. I don't hate the movie, but for some reason, it has become a source of trauma for me.
I Used to Be Obsessed With Australia
Posted 3 weeks agoLately, I've been thinking about a phase that I went through back in the late 2010s. While a lot of people were into Japanese and/or South Korean culture, I was more interested in Australia for some odd reason. Maybe it was because the flying fox bat lived there, which was one of my favorite animals at the time.
My Memories of the Game Boy Advance
Posted 3 weeks agoI absolutely enjoyed growing up at a time when video games made the jump from 2D to 3D, with colorful low-poly graphics and all, but I'm starting to feel a bit nostalgic for the Game Boy Advance era of portable handheld gaming. After all, there was a Kirby game I used to like playing on my silver Game Boy Advance SP back in 2006. Originally, I had a translucent purple Game Boy Advance, which my family bought when it arrived in stores in the middle of 2001. I liked playing Namco Museum and a few other games on that thing, but I was a little disappointed that it didn't come with some sort of light so I could play my GBA games in the dark. I spent hours trying to beat Rayman. It was a very difficult game. I couldn't get past Picture City. But I liked its art style, since it reminded me of one of those Don Bluth movies that I watched on a VHS tape when I was a kid in the 90s.
For the longest time, I thought of the Game Boy Advance as like a portable Super Nintendo, but just recently, I started to think it was more capable than that. After all, I think it could do 3D and low-poly graphics, but I guess that was a rarity for the system.
Thinking About My Lizard-Man Character
Posted a month agoI think I'm going to redesign my "Lizard-Man" character that I originally imagined as an arch nemesis for Crumbo. I'll probably make him look a bit like one of those "velociraptors" from the Jurassic Park/World franchise, but standing upright like those dated depictions of T-Rex from the mid 20th century. I might also want to use Crypto from the 2012 film The Dinosaur Project as a bit of a reference for his character design. This "Lizard-Man" from the Florida everglades would work for a mad scientist who wants to capture Crumbo and do some cruel experiments on him.
Ickis
Posted a month agoWhen I was in my late teens or early twenties, I used to be really, really fascinated by Ickis, who was a character from the 90s Nickelodeon cartoon that I'm sure some of you haven't heard about before, called Aaahh Real Monsters. Let me be honest with you. I haven't watched much of the show since I'm not a big horror type of person, but I thought he had a very unique and interesting character design. I thought his face looked like one of those bats that I liked so much, probably the Mexican free tailed bat. I would've used the word cute to describe Ickis, but I don't think he would approve of it. I also liked the sound of his voice when he talked, hence why I sometimes liked calling him Eekies or Eekie Squeakie. I thought it would be the perfect kind of voice for my character Buster the Flying Fox Bat. Back then, Charlie Adler was my favorite voice actor. I'm not as really into Ickis as I used to be, since there are other characters that I'm interested in, but he still puts a smile on my face whenever I see him.
Just Me Venting About YouTube
Posted a month agoPlease forgive me for this bit of venting. I already posted this journal on DeviantArt, but I wanted to post it here on FurAffinity for some of my friends to see. I'm not as notalgic for this era as I am for the year 2000, but I can still remember a time when YouTube was a fun place to watch videos on the internet. No intrusive ads or sponsors in the middle of the video. None of this so-called "YouTube Kids" slop content featuring Spiderman and Elsa doing various things that parents don't want their kids to see. No AI generated nightmare fuel. TikTok wasn't even a thing yet, so there was no YouTube Shorts. None of those nonsensical mobile game ads.
The first video that I ever watched on YouTube, back in 2006 or 2007, was the Japanese commercial for the original Fire Emblem game for the Nintendo Famicom, which was presented like an opera where Marth was standing in the centre of it all. I watched that video after I was introduced to Marth in Super Smash Bros Melee. During my early years of browsing YouTube, I became more curious about the history of Nintendo and video games as a whole, along with whatever cool Nintendo stuff that they had in Japan but America didn't get. I've learned about the Famicom Disk System, PC Engine, BS-X Satellaview, and the Sharp X68000, thanks to YouTube.
I liked to watch YouTube Poop videos featuring King Mah Boi and Squadala and those other characters from the Zelda CD-i games. Some of my favorite YTP creators included WalrusGuy, Imaperson, and Madanonymous, who made what used to be one of my favorite videos, "Some Woman Talks About Kitten Huffing". I always liked to quote that video. "Fashion is fashion. Fashion... is fashion. Very fashionable. Whew! That was exhausting!" I think they also did a YTP of that old Disney educational short film about something that a woman goes through in her life.
However, the one thing that I found the most annoying about YouTube at the time was the sudden jumpscare with the scary image without a warning in the beginning of the video or even the description. I'll never forget that time when I played that video with the 90s techno dance remix of the Always Coca-Cola jingle in the background while working on my art and being interrupted by a loud scream that seemed to come out of nowhere. There were also multiple videos about satanism, racism, and subliminal messages in old Disney cartoons that pretty much ruined my childhood.
I wish that I was able to find more fun, entertaining videos on YouTube about the subjects I'm really interested in, like cryptids and wild animals, for example, from content creatures that existed before 2020. I'm not interested in the videos where they try to debunk the existence of Bigfoot, Yeti, Aliens, or the Loch Ness Monster. I want to listen to some stories of people's encounters with those kinds of creatures along with some stories of animal attacks. Because I'm sick of listening to those commentary drama slop channels who talk about something controversial that a political Twitch streamer has said, and I don't want the algorithm to recommend me another one of those rage bait videos with the outrageous thumbnail and the title saying "Donald Trump Gets Angry Because Canada Is Doing This" or some shit like that. Another video that I want to avoid like the plague was the one that is about Disney's Aladdin, you know, the one with the screenshot of the genie and the word Yes in the thumbnail. I might also want to look up some videos of animated cartoons featuring furry/anthro characters or maybe some dinosaurs. If you have any suggestions or recommendations on what videos I can watch or what channels I could subscribe to, please let me know in a comment.
Oh yeah, and before I forget, I wanted to mention how they were apparently punishing viewers who use adblock when browsing the internet, like myself. Not only do I use ad blockers. I pay for the Premium, since I don't want to see ads while watching YouTube videos on my TV or my iPad, so I don't know what obnoxious ads there are, but I've heard from a friend that was getting an ad for a robotic toy dog that was being advertised with AI generated images and some guy singing Jingle Bells.
