Kinktober already? But it's only August! Things became a bit too stressful and overwhelming last year, so I'm changing things up and preparing well in advance. I'm still going to post a kinky short story every day in October (each around 600-1,200 words) based on the prompt list below. Each story will have a focus on BDSM elements. Additionally, some of these stories can include your characters (for free)! Unlike the last two years, I am going to reserve half of the days for myself so I can focus more on stories I know I want to write and stress less over what commissioners want. While I have made it first-come-first-serve in the past, I am going to do it raffle-style this time to try and make it more fair with the shortened prompt list. If this interests you, read the rules below.

Raffle Rules:
- 1: Please understand that I am a gay BDSM writer, and I will only write M/M bondage-centric stories.
- 1a: Female presenting characters may make an appearance, but must be side characters. No female breasts or genitalia will be written about!
- 1b: Trans and NB characters are acceptable so long as they have a penis or genitalia isn't mentioned.

Another Kinktober has come and gone, and I have thoughts about it. Just like last year, I had a lot of fun trying to push out a new story every day. I fell behind towards the end, having to write and post stories on the same day for the last half-week or so, but successfully managed to always post on time (in my time zone). However, I also faced more burn-out than last year. Some of it was definitely purely because of the amount of writing I ended up doing (especially on days I tried to get ahead on), but I think it more so had to do with the number of free "commissions" I ended up doing. Last year I only had six commissions (~19%), but this year I ended up with 24 (~77%). I have poor social skills and constantly talking to mostly strangers was pretty exhausting for me. I think the quality of my work definitely declined for the last week or so as a result.

Something that definitely caught me off guard was how many people did not realize the kind of content I like to write. This is at least partly my fault, as I see some terms used in more specific niches more often than in broader context. This wasn't a problem last year, which amplified my surprise this year as my original post apparently had more reach. I had multiple people requesting I write about kinks I very much do not have with no bondage at all. In the future, I will have to make it impossible to misunderstand that I write "gay (M/M) BDSM and bondage stories."

Speaking of the future, I do still intend to participate in next year's kinktober (so long as my life situation allows). However, I will do things differently. Firstly, I will be limiting the number of commission slots to 15 (if not fewer). This should help me be less exhausted from talking to people and help ensure that most of the stories I write are ones I'm really interested in. Not to say that I hated writing every commission story. Many were great fun to write, but others just weren't nearly as enjoyable as I'd have liked. I will also bite the bullet and try to contact everyone more immediately next year so we have more time to discuss details, and I will be less burned-out when talking to anyone with a story later in the month. When discussing those details, I definitely need to be better about putting my foot down and not writing stories I'm less interested in and make sure everyone understands the assignment. The stories are all free, after all.

So, what can everyone expect from me in the more immediate future? Nothing! I do have some motivation to work on some of my own stories again, but not the energy. For most of this month, I doubt I'll respond to any non-urgent messages and only write when the mood strikes. It's been great fun and I'm not going anywhere, but I need some time to actually let myself relax.

Each story will likely be just a page or two long and will likely feel like a snippet of larger stories. Each day will be based on the writing prompts listed below, each revolving around various kink/BDSM themes and bondage. It is almost time for Kinktober again! Just like last year, I want to try writing a short story for every day of October, each one based on a word from a prompt list. The stories will be very short, often skimping on some details and possibly feeling like snippets of longer stories. This will primarily be an exercise in pushing some of my creative limits, so the quality may be a bit lacking. For examples, I have 31 stories from Kinktober 2023 in my Scraps folder.

Also like last year, I want to incorporate other kinksters on this site! I am once again offering free “commissions” as well. All you need to do is claim a prompt and I will write your OC as the main character of that day’s story. But I’m getting ahead of myself. First, I need to actually compile a prompt list. Below are some ideas, but please give me more! I am open to repeats of the previous year, but those will be the first to go if I end up with more than 31 prompts. Below is my current prompt list.

Hello everyone! I just wanted to give a quick update on what's been going on and what I have planned for the future. Firstly, it's been a long time since I posed a choose your own adventure story, despite claiming to focus on those in my bio. Fear not, as I am working on one right now, but it'll still be a while. After taking a far-too-long writing break after posting Earning Your Stripes, I began working on an even bigger project. Unfortunately, after several months of work, making very little actual progress, I realized I wasn't as passionate about that project as I once was. Deciding to cut my losses, I tabled it. All work is still saved on my computer in case I ever decide to work on it again, but it may never see the light of day again. I have since sat down and reevaluated the general scope of projects I will actually enjoy working on. In the meantime, I started a much smaller CYOA. It is about halfway done at this point, and, at my current rate of work, I should complete it in about another 2-3 months.

So, what can you all expect from me in the future? Well, I am still passionate about writing my stories as well. I have more story ideas for Luke and Seth from The Start of Something New, including a less overtly smutty story to flesh out their growing relationship. I may also write some one-offs if I get specific scenarios or writing prompts I like. Those will hopefully be shorter than my mainline stories, but I do struggle with keeping things short.

But speaking of short, my short Kinktober stories were a massive success in my eyes! Not only were they a blast to write, but I think they helped improve my writing skills as well, making me stretch my creativity and highlighting some less-desirable writing habits I need to work on. It also helped finally get me a somewhat consistent writing schedule. I used to have an incredibly difficult time forcing myself to sit down and start writing, which still isn't always the easiest, but now I know how to build up some momentum. I definitely plan to write more stories for Kinktober 2024, hopefully with an earlier start and taking suggestions for word prompts.

Kinktober was the first time I ever dabbled in commission work, and it honestly wasn't as intimidating as I thought it would be. I think writing for other people will always be a bit nerve-wracking, but I also found it to be pretty rewarding. So, with that said, I think I'm going to open myself up to commissions in the new year! I will likely only accept a single commission at a time so as to not overwhelm myself. Besides working a full-time job, I do want to still give myself enough time to work on my other projects and indulge in my hobbies, after all. If you're interested, please let me know! Hello everyone! Just popping in with a quick update, now that the month is roughly halfway over. This upcoming week, I will be unable to post (or even write) for a few days. Specifically, the 18th and 19th, though possibly the 17th as well. I am trying to get some stories done ahead of time, but I don't think I will have a complete backlog ready for when I start posting again. What is more likely is I will try to write as much as possible and post 2 stories a day until I'm back on target, but we'll see how viable that is for me. Regardless, I will certainly get things back on target before the end of the month.
