Yearly update I guess?
Posted 8 years agoWell, almost a year. I meant to post this at the start of the year, but I procrastinate a lot, and the same thing happened last year, so apparently there's approximately a 4 month delay on doing things I plan on doing! Which sounds about right.
I've been having a lot of fun coloring stuff recently, although I really want to buckle down and start doing actual practice at some point. I feel like I've reached a plateau where I'm happy with my results, but then I still know they could be way better, so I gotta not let myself get complacent. If nothing else, it probably helps that I'm getting more familiar with my tools at least X3
I've also updated my collection of round animal photos, for those who care! They make great references :V
Here's a link to the favorite ones I've found in the past year(ish): https://www.dropbox.com/sh/3bfgcbh1.....46Jx8Pjqa?dl=0
And here's a zip file of the ones I found worth saving in the past year: https://drive.google.com/drive/fold.....mp;usp=sharing (there's a little download button in the top right)
If the zip file doesn't download then let me know, there's been issues with it in the past. Also it's branched out slightly from big cats into large bears and some other animals, so that's fun.
I've also been working on a very... very long story for some time now. It's really been going in fits and starts for some time now, so I don't know when it'll be done, but hopefully in the next month or two. At least the first draft anyway. I don't want to get people too hyped up about it yet since it isn't even through the first draft, but it's something I've been spending a lot of time on, and I'm pretty excited about it, so I figured it was worth mentioning.
And if anybody happens to care, I have a Curious Cat account setup, if you want to ask me questions anonymously or not anonymously or whatever! I've been meaning to respond to questions people have been asking me here, but I'm super bad about that kind of thing. I'm much better about answering public questions, but I know people don't always want to ask questions publicly, so maybe this'll be a good compromise. Either way I've been meaning to get better at responding people, but I'm just real bad at personal interaction some times, and that's not a real good excuse :x
Anyways, here's the link if you want to ask me anything in general: https://curiouscat.me/Noone_fa (I think it works this way...? No log in required)
Of course, feel free to ask me questions here too! I think that's about all I had to say. not super interesting certainly, but I like to keep people updated if they happen to be interested. Thank you very much for your time and I hope you all have a wonderful day :D

Arbitrary update journal!
Posted 9 years agoHello again, people who bother to read journals! Here's a random update!
-I've been wanting to get back in to creating stuff again, although so far I just haven't built up the motivation/focus to actually work on anything long enough to produce something. Hopefully that'll change soon, but I'm quite adept at convincing myself to do other things. But I've at least finally actually started to be more active on line, if not productive.
I want to do some programming work again. Although I don't know how related to my previous game it'll be. I kind of want to restructure some things and have a more narrative focused version and then a more free form version like it is now. I also have an idea for a really long story I want to right, but I'm still fleshing out some plot turns. I also really want to practice making art. I have a lot of fun coloring stuff, but I haven't ever gone super in depth with it. And I also want to start drawing stuff, but that's a whole other kettle of fish.
I think I really have to dramatically lower the standards I've set for myself. I feel like it's really just pride that prevents me from putting content out there, and I know that, but I can't convince myself to move past it. I had the same problem all throughout school and it's really dumb of me :x
-So as a surrogate I've been commissioning lots and lots and lots of things over the past few months! I'm probably going to start posting them over the next week or so. There's a lot of ones I want to try to color before I post them. And there's a couple of pics I'm getting stories for or vice versa. I'm hoping to start dialing back soon, but I haven't been doing a good job so far X3
In either case, prepare for me to post some stuff I may or may not have even done any work on! Feel free to unwatch me! Or start watching me?
I might move stuff that's been uploaded by the artist to scraps. And I hope I remembered to ask permission from all the artists first. I really don't know the etiquette on this sort of thing, and I don't know how watchers feel. And I really hope I remembered to ask all the people whose pic I want to color :x
-In other news, I have a twitter now! Not that I post much, but sometimes I'll post commissions I get there and I might start updating people on stuff, I don't know. But if you care I'm https://twitter.com/Noone_FA . I kind of want to tweet round lion photos I find, but I'm afraid of the original posters getting weirded out if they find out :x
-Speaking of, I've posted an archive of all the round lion photos I've found over the years! Some of you may not now, but I'm a bizarrely dedicated hoarder of them! These are some of my favorite ones: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/3bfgcbh1.....46Jx8Pjqa?dl=0 . There's more info in my main page header if you happen to care.
-tl:dr I'm lazy as hell, but I've commissioned a lot of great stuff at least.
`Also, #TMITuesday? If you have any questions you want to ask, please do! I don't think anybody actually reads journals, but if you've gotten this far I'd love to answer questions about whatever :p

Posting the source code, more or less
Posted 10 years agoHoo, boy, I really can not keep track of time. I've felt like I stopped updating just a few months ago for a year now. Seriously, it sounds like I'm exaggerating, but I don't at all interpret time over long periods.
Anyhow, I'm very sorry to have kept you all waiting this long. You've all been extremely patient and I'm very thankful for that. I still haven't gotten the source code to a particularly user friendly state, but I've also been putting things off for far longer than I planned on. So I'm just going to release it in the state it is now, and hopefully go back in and put some more/better examples in and do some better code commenting.
Once again I'd like to thank everyone very much for being so patient. I'd like to give a shout out to several people who have taken it upon themselves to start working on their own games. Namely;
Krishonk, http://www.furaffinity.net/view/18278200/
Kazan.K http://www.furaffinity.net/view/18203847/
and Tach0012, http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/6660043/
I there's been at least a few other people in the planning stages of games as well, and if anyone would like me to add (or remove) their game from this journal then I'd be happy to.
I can't guarantee any future output from me, because lord knows I've been inconsistent so far. My ability to procrastinate is as always stunning, and my antisocial tendencies are quite absolute. I don't want to get anyone's hopes up that they'll be able to just plug their stuff in and come out with a game, but it should hopefully serve as a useful source of ideas for making your own games. Or at the very least give an insight into the madness I was cobbling together.
Most questions can be answered by my previous journal (http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/5719773/), but if you have any further questions you should post them here. I can't promise I'll respond to every question individually, but I'll probably post a followup journal answering the more popular questions.
Anywho, here's the link. There's a download button at the top of the page. Also, I've never tried to share files this way, so hopefully this works!

Final game update! *TOOOOOOOOOT*
Posted 11 years agoWelp, that's it. Final update *TOOOOOOT*! I had definitely intended to add more actual content, and in that I've definitely failed. I just can't find the time or energy anymore and this past week has been especially busy. But I've at least added the ability to cheat! I'd once again like to thank everyone for the support. I definitely couldn't have gotten this far without you! It's been a long two years, and I think on the whole I've definitely enjoyed it. I've definitely gotten to meet a lot of new and interesting people and for that I'll always be thankful. I've also met a lot of awful people, but it's the internet, so what are you gonna do? Since I think there are a lot of questions that I think will be asked frequently, here's an faq! I'll probably add on to it if I more questions come up, but this should hopefully answer most of them.
Q1: Do you plan on updating this game ever again?
A1: I'm not planning on it, but at some point I might, but I wouldn't guarantee it. It probably wouldn't be for almost a year even if I do.
Q2: When's the next update?
A2: I will literally never have an answer to this question. Not even on the day I update will I answer this question.
Q3: Can somebody else take over the game?
A3: No. That requires somebody who is both willing and able to develop a game, and wants to work on someone else's game, and wants to work on this one specifically, and has the time to work on it, and yet doesn't already have one of their own they're working on, and I don't know how many of those people exist. Secondary to this, letting someone else develop it means that if I ever do want to work on it again then I can't really just take it back from them when I feel like it. Tertiary to this, it doesn't really help me at all, which is kind of selfish, but on the other hand, so what. Quadratically, how do I decide who to let take over? And what happens if they don't update in a couple of months, do I give it to someone else? What happens if a better qualified person comes along later? What happens when I let someone take over and I don't like the direction they take with it? This could go on for several more paragraphs. And while it might seem like a totally awesome idea, I mostly foresee somebody updating for 2 months and then never touching it again. So in short; No, I won't be letting anybody else take over.
Q4: Will you place the code publicly online?
A4: Yes. Although as I said before, it won't have any of the actual content of the game. It'll just be the engine for it with basically everything else stripped out. For the reason for this, see A3, but moreso. But I'm certainly glad to help facilitate other people working on their own projects. But I don't want anybody taking this as an excuse to rebuild the original game. While crowdsourcing seems really sweet, it's largely a buzzword that doesn't have much applicability to such a small project, in addition to all the problems in A3.
Q5: Can you teach me how to code.
A5: Nnnnnnnnno. I don't even particularly know how to code myself, and that's after dedicating a couple dozen hours just specifically learning on how to code. So if you can't find the answer to your question with a couple minutes of googling, then I won't be able to help you either. If you don't already know how to code, then I won't be much help.
Q6: Can you tell me how your code works?
Q6: That I actually can answer, as far as the question specifically pertains to how/why I coded some part of my game in a certain way. Although still, I can't really answer any questions about how coding works in general. I'll try to comment it well enough that you hopefully won't need much direction.
Q7: How long until you post the code online?
A7a: I don't really know. I expect it'll be a pretty easy process, so probably in the next month or so. It depends on how easy it is to clean up and comment properly.
A7b: I will literally never have an answer to this question.
Q8: Can we use the engine code to remake the original game?
A8: I already answered this, but to be more concise, no. Unless you really hate me I guess, but even then, no.
Q9: Why didn't you respond to my correspondence?
A9a: There are many many answers to this question, none of them that I'm proud of.
A9b: A lot of the time I just forget, especially with notes which don't leave any kind of indicator after I read them.
A9c: A lot of times I just don't know what to say ¯\_(0_0)_/¯
A9e: Sometimes it takes a long time for me to think of a response, and then I feel weird about responding weeks after the fact so, I don't.
A9f: Sometimes I can't think of a polite thing to say, so I don't.
Q10: Will you still be taking suggestions?
A10: Uhhhhhhh, no? I'm still happy to read them, but obviously I won't be adding them to the game at any point in the near future, if at all. So I certainly can't stop you, and I'm definitely always glad to read submissions, but I won't actually be responding to/discussing any correspondence involving additions to the game.
Q11: Are you still accepting donations?
A11: I don't know... no? Obviously I like money, but I don't want people to get it in their head that if they throw enough money at me then I'll have to update. So basically, no, I don't want any more donations, but I appreciate the thought :D
Q12: Will you still be on FA?
A12: Yes, I don't really plan on going anywhere and I don't plan on deleting any of my submissions. The previous version of the game will be moved to scraps, and I'll probably respond to comments less. "What's that? Even less responses to comments?" Unfortunately, yes. I really want to respond to them all, but being sociable in any context takes a lot out of me psychologically and I just can't keep up with it any more, I'm sorry to say :(
Q13: Do you plan on doing any other projects?
A13: Nope. If I ever find the energy to work on a project, it'll be this one anyway. But no, I don't actually plan on submitting anything of my own for at least a good long while. I might get back into commissioning people again, but who know s how that'll turn out.

I soften the non-update blow by giving you bad news!
Posted 11 years agoWell, another month and another "not really an update update". I had planned on doing more, but a family emergency called me out of state for the past week, so nothing really got done. I plan on having some actual content for next update, assuming nothing else goes wrong.
Which brings me to my next point. Next month's update is going to be the last planned update! I'm sure a lot of you will be very disappointed by this, but it's frankly been a very very long time in coming. I finally have to admit to myself that I've grown tired of this project and don't have it in myself to drag it out any further. So with that, the next update will be the last one, marking the (approximately) 2 year anniversary.
I plan on making a more in depth journal when that time comes, but I felt I owe it to everyone to give a heads up beforehand. It's been a long and educational journey with many ups and many many downs. I'd like to thank the large cast of people that have helped me along the way, I sincerely hope you all enjoyed your time spent on the project and I want you to know your help means a lot to me. I'd also like to thank the fans and I hope you all enjoyed your time here.
I am also aware that April 1st is an awkward time to post this, but I didn't have the foresight to schedule updates on the 2nd, and I think April Fool's day is a stupid tradition anyway. So rest assured, this is not an April fool's joke.

Sadly another teeny tiny update
Posted 11 years agoWelp, unfortunately this update's yet another tiny one, as I had far less free time this month than normal. Mostly just fixed a few minor errors with the last update, but nothing significant was actually added. That being said, there's a couple of things already lined up to be added for next update, and I should have more time this month, butstill no guarantees unfortunately :x
Another update with a fix to a long standing stupid problem
Posted 12 years agoI think I've finally fixed the problem with you inventory and quests behaving weird when reloading previous saves that caused it not to load the saved quests/inventory. I don't know if it's actually fixed yet, so try to keep an eye out to make sure all that stuff still works.
I also added one branch of a branching quest involving the horse adventurer at the dairy farm house. It doesn't have the intended rewards in yet or the other path because I wanted to make sure the quest fix worked as intended as otherwise it could mess up several aspects of how it'd work. Therefore quests, and by extension important items, will be reset next update probably, and the other branch of the questline will be added in. It's worth noting that the rewards will be the same on either side, it just changes the events that happen.
Also an image for the malevolent milk machine has been added thanks to
kelvinthelion, yaaaaaay!
It's worth noting that the rewards will be the same on either side, it just changes the events that happen.

kelvinthelion, yaaaaaay!A small but long awaited addition
Posted 12 years agoNot much of an addition, but custom species are now in the game, yaaaaaaaaaay! It's only available for new characters at the moment, because I want to make sure the custom species thing won't cause your game to explode, which is very likely when messing with customizable user inputs like this. But I'll be adding the ability to use custom species when you change at the cabal some time this week rather than waiting for next month, assuming there aren't too many bugs in the way. So just kind of mess around with it and make sure everything looks normal, otherwise the consequences could be dire!
But that's about it this month unfortunately :( . The holidays are a busy time and I haven't had as much time to dedicate to working on the game, but this is something quite a few people have been clamoring for, so hopefully that'll be fun. If this goes well I'll try to expand more on how player species are used. It was kind of a roadblock before to come up with appropriate descriptors for everything, but now that I can pawn the work off on you to describe your character however you want, it makes it much easier on me, yaaaaaaaaaaaaay! But who knows how that'll turn out. In any case, happy new years!

An update with something actually in it!
Posted 12 years agoThere's something in this month's update! Wooooo! Granted it's just a quest line, but it should be a pretty entertaining one at least. I intended to add more, but I was out of town for the last week for Thanksgiving, but at least there's more stuff than there was last month!
Not really an update November!
Posted 12 years agoAnother month another... not much of an update really. Not much to say really. This was a very busy month for me, so I didn't have as much free time, unfortunately. Hopefully next month will be better, but it's starting to be holiday season, so who knows. :x
But I promised an update every month so here it is! Uh... technically...? :C

A slightly more existent update!
Posted 12 years agoNot much more existent, but more than last time at least. There's a lot of people that are working on some rather large additions and there's at least a few things I haven't gotten around to so one of these updates is probably going to be really large eventually. But I'm still dedicating a lot of time to personal pursuits and definitely haven't been responding to people as promptly as I should :x
Anyways! At least there's a little more content this update! Probably a lot of bugs to since I started working on a lot of it at the last minute :x
Also, there's a lot of art I'm supposed to be getting that I haven't gotten around to commissioning yet! I plan on trying to take care of that this month, and I have about 4 enemies/backgrounds wort of money. So if you have suggestions on what should get done next, I'd be glad to hear them! Obviously this isn't enough to get 50 different character portraits, although I'm sure people will suggest that anyway for some reason. I also wanted to get skins for the buttons instead of just using the generic grey ones. I can't promise anything, but if people overwhelmingly ask for the same thing, I'll try to get it done.
In any case, I hope you enjoy this month's update, such as it is, and hopefully nothing goes incredibly wrong :D

A practicaly nonexistant update
Posted 12 years agoWell, this month's update is definitely the smallest so far with only 2 things updated. There was a larger update earlier this month, witch kind of sucked up several things that were gonna just be in this update so that kind of explains it. But mostly I've just been catching up on games I got from the steam sale and the indy bundles :<
Content submission guide
Posted 12 years agoWell, the last journal's comment section has gotten rather cluttered and it has really been revised in a long time, So I'm updating it!
1)No personal characters - You can't write you're Fursona etc. into the game. Any sort of intellectual property you submit can't exist in any other form. Otherwise it leads to Mary Sue type characters, or requires revisioning if someone's character changes, and also restricts other peoples ability to add on to a character if it's a reflection on someones personal character.
2)Keep it PG - Ostensibly this is a pg game. It's marked as non-mature for a reason, which is to say no sexually suggestive stuff. I guess the boundaries of that are a little vague, but yeah, nothing overtly sexual.
3)Try to keep it within theme - Those themes being weight gain/vore/inflation etc. Which isn't to say it can only be one of those things, but if it isn't at least vaguely related to any of those things then it's not likely to get included.
3b)There's also themes that I straight up won't add regardless of anything. Namely; scat/watersports/babyfurs/slob/anything sexual. And also, no humans/electricity/aliens for thematic reasons.
4)Don't be weird about it - Fortunately this hasn't been much of a problem, but basically there's going to be X% of submissions that don't make it in for one reason or another. A lot of times it'll be for breaking one of these rules, but also some things might be too technically difficult to add, or might require too many resources to put in, or might not have enough content to be worth adding. But basically if I don't want to put something in the game, then it won't get in. Some times we can dialogue about bringing it in line, but some things will just be comepletely unworkable.
4b)On the other hand - It never hurts to ask if I'll put something in (provided it isn't against any of these rules), so don't feel put off if something gets rejected. It's not personal or anything, some things just don't work out.
5)Don't take it too seriously - I don't think this has been much of a problem either, but don't dedicate too much time/effort into something before you at least run it by me first. I'd hate for you to waste a bunch of time on something that doesn't quite work for me. So always be sure to run something by me before you get too deep into something.
6)I'll probably rebalance things - You can and should definitely tell me what stats you want an item/enemy/event should have, but I'll probably have to end up fudging the numbers around. Mainly everything has to be on a similar level to everything else in the same zone. It's still definitely helpful if you give some relative stats at least though.
7)I'll probably have to rewrite parts of your submission - I try to leave most everything in tact, but there's a couple important narrative/balance considerations that I may have to reword some things for. Mainly I try not to speak in absolutes if possible. Like I try not to say something's "The biggest [blank] you've ever seen!" because there's no real way of knowing if that's true for every single character. I also try to avoid coloring the player character's opinions. Like I wouldn't say "You struggle to pick up the rock", since some characters have wildly different strengths from each other. Some of this can be fixed by adding customized descriptions based on character stats, but that adds a lot to the writing complexitiy, so try to keep that in mind.
8)I want other people to add on to your submissions - Basically means what it says, but I want other people to be able to add on to your submissions if they want to. So if you have any specific plans for something in the future, then you should tell me about it ahead of time so I can better direct people that might add on to it. Even if you haven't written out the future submission yet, it's still good to tell me a basic outline of what you have planned ahead. Like if you write a character that you want to be part of a future quest, you should tell me so I know there's already going to be a quest line for him later. Similarly, anything you submit kind of becomes property of the game for the purposes of me modifying/using it.
9)General info - The game will always be updated the first of each month at some random point during the day. I'm accepting donations through https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webs.....=7LMGEV7ZLR8CE . All donations are reinvested in artwork for the game. Feel free to RP or do fan art of the game, in fact I'd feel flattered. I although I'd appreciate it if you linked back to the game, although I don't really care unless you copy actual content from the game. I'm always accepting submissions, although I can't always guarantee how fast or in what order I'll get to them. I read all comments/notes, but I don't necessarily reply to them all, usually due to my own incompetence :x
You can submit literally anything you want. Enemies/items/scenes/events/npcs/stores/spells/images, anything. I'll try to explain some of what goes into these things to make it easier to write them out.
Event formatting
Break up your scenes into chunks based on how you want them to show up on the screen. Usually this means whenever you want the player to make a choice.
Clearly divide each chunk of the scenario with a line of symbols (######### or whatever) and put a short title at the beginning of each chunk so I know what that chunk represents.
Enclose any kind of variables in []. As in; "You see a [random species] holding a [random weapon]. [He]'s [shorter/taller] than you. " etc.
Similarly, clearly note any player decisions or stat changes or skill tests in a similar fashion. As in [Test strength], [Restore 30 health], [Punch down door], etc.
Events can be as large or as small as you want, but try to keep them self contained. At the moment it's very difficult to have big game changing events, so try not to be too far reaching.
Enemy formatting
Enemies need a Name, description, victory/defeat descriptions, and some number of attacks, attack hit/miss descriptions.
You can also add; grapple escape success/failures, escape success/failures, enemy introduction, item finding description, gender/species. But these aren't strictly necessary.
The stats enemies have are; STR/AGI/END/INT/Defense/Max health/Max mana just like the playable, weight (if the enemy is voreable), item rewards, item find chance, damage weakness/resistance.
Item formatting
All items have; a name, physical description, a value, and a description for when you use it. Usually you can just tell me what you want it to do and I can take the rest from there.
Edible items; mana restored, health restored, stamina restored, calories gained, stomach volume filled, a description of what happens when you overeat from consuming the item.
All equipment; Increase/decrease to STR/AGI/END/INT/Mana/Health.
Weapons; XdY damage, damage type, attack stat, attack scaling rate.
Armor; Defense.
Clothing; Stretchability amount, description for popping off, description for being popped, description for trying to put it on when it's too small.
Spell formatting
Spells are a bit difficult to work with because they can do a lot of very complicated and narrow things. But in any case;
All spells have; a name, description, casting description;
Their stats are; damage type, XdY damage, burn/stun/slow effects, healing effect, mana cost, intelligence requirement, gold cost.
You can submit spells that do more weird things, but they can't be too crazy/unbalanced.
Art formatting
I haven't actually gotten a whole lot of art submissions, unfortunately. I think a big reason for this is that most people want to put in character portraits, which is a practical impossibility. There are 2 genders, 56 species, 4 strength tiers, and 12 fatness tiers. Which means there are 2 x 56 x 4 x 12 = 5376 possible different character images if I completely ignore equipment and never add any more species, which also means approximately 537 megs of images. So as neat as it would be, it's basically impossible for a large number of reasons.
Aside from that though, all images have to be .png, backgrounds are 275*415 pixels, enemies have to be smaller than that to fit in the window. Button icons are all 20*20 pixels and are also transparent .pngs. If you wanted to submit anything then I'd greatly appreciate it. Although you might want to run it by me first before you put a bunch of work into drawing something.
Everything else formatting
You can submit anything else not outlined here, just follow whatever formatting rules make it easy to understand. It's not too huge a deal how it's formatted ultimately.
Actually submitting stuff
The best way to submit text submissions is to email me a .txt file. My e-mail is sck140@gmail . Everything is put in code, so text formatting makes things complicated. I can still italicize/bold/etc. text, but it's done with <i><\i> type formatting. You definitely shouldn't submit things through notes though as I lose track of things easily enough already and notes are not at all conducive to having conversations. If you have a small suggestion though then it's not too big a deal.

By default I'll add you to the credits, so if you want to be put in as a certain name or just be left as anonymous then make sure to tell me.

Update! Oh god steam sale! No!
Posted 12 years agoAnother update journal. I got more done than I expected, but it's still a relatively light update. I think I did finally fix that enemy name bug thing once and for all though! I'm sure something else will go wrong, but I'm pretty confident this time.
I guess this is apropos of nothing, but I want to try to do a better job scheduling my work on the game. At the moment, whenever I'm doing something for fun, I wish I was doing something productive, and when I'm doing something productive, I wish I was doing something for fun. So I spend a lot of time not doing either because the grass is always greener on the other side until the end of the month where I try to power a lot of stuff out in the last few days, which obviously isn't a good idea. So I'm going to try to schedule specific days of the week for working on the game and hopefully that'll get me back on track. I don't think this necessarily means anything to anyone, but saying it out loud, as it were, helps cement the idea in my mind.
Similarly, I'd like to apologize for not always responding in a timely manner. I always mean to, but at the start of the month there's a deluge of comments, which puts me behind and makes it feel like a daunting task, then I fall farther and farther behind and start feeling weird about responding to such old comments. So if I don't respond to your comment then I'm very sorry. I'm going to try to be more responsive, although I might not respond to all bug reports unless I need more information. I still really appreciate all the bug reports and they're necessary for advancing the game, but I feel weird typing "Thanks for the help :D" 20 times in a row :x . I'll still read everything and take note of it all, but I might not necessarily respond.

A rather tiny update
Posted 12 years agoWhelp it's a new month again, yaaaaaay! Unfortunately this update is a bit smaller that the previous ones, what with the being out of town and all. But it's still an update nonetheless. Several new things thanks once again to Krishon, Dimitry, and Anonymous. Sorry for not responding to much of anything in the past month also :x . But once I fall behind in responding to comments it makes it just seem so much mroe daunting to catch up :X . Although I believe I fixed all the problems that were brought up, hopefully :x
Thanks again for all the support and I hope you like this month's update, small though it may be :D

A marginally early update!
Posted 12 years agoI planned on posting the update tomorrow, but I needed more time to fix bugs then that. So I'm uploading it now, and hopefully I'll be able to fix the bugs tonight! Because I'll be gone for a week after that. So hopefully nothing particularly major needs to be done before then.
This update adds another new zone thanks to Krishonk. It's an island you can get to by traveling west of the western town, basically. There was a whole bunch of things I wanted to do this update, but I didn't have time for them, so this update is a little sparser then I wanted it to be :x . Like I said before, I'm going on vacation this week, so there'll be complete radio silence during that time unfortunately.
In any case, I hope you enjoy this month's update! And hopefully I can fix all the major bugs before I have to leave :x

1 yearish anniversary, yaaaaaaay?
Posted 12 years agoNot really anything specifically special about this update, but it is basically one year since I posted the game originally. Not really much else to say about it, but I thought it was an interesting thing to note.
There's a pretty good number of new things this update. There was still a bunch of things that I wanted to put in this month but didn't have time to. It was a pretty busy month for me irl-wise, and with a looming sinus infection I didn't have much energy/focus to do anything today either. But it's still a pretty big update nonetheless. I'd just like to remind people that I'm always looking for more submissions even if I'm a little behind on implementing them, and if you're interested in donating then it's always welcome. Links for both of those things are below.
Also I'm going to be gone the first week of June, so I might submit the next update a little earlier, or possibly upload it as another submission to avoid any game breaking bugs from not being resolved while I'm gone. I'll probably figure it out better when the time gets closer, but note that the next update may be a little out of the norm.

A new update of at least moderate signifigance!
Posted 12 years agoWell it's a new moth and a new update, and if I had more time there would have been an April Foolsish type update, but that's far too annoying to bother with and I didn't have much time to do it. Speaking of which, this is actually a rather larger update this time. Also most of the coding got done in the last week so there's probably a lot of bugs! Anyways! A big shout out to
krishonk once again and also to other persons. There was a bunch more content I wanted to add in, but all the submissions kind of came in at the same time at the end of the month :x . But that just guarantees a large update for next month at least!
In any case, I hope you enjoy the update. Items and saves were changed in a manner that shouldn't cause problems, but there always seems to be something, so try to be wary.

But that just guarantees a large update for next month at least! In any case, I hope you enjoy the update. Items and saves were changed in a manner that shouldn't cause problems, but there always seems to be something, so try to be wary.
Another month another update
Posted 12 years agoUnfortunately I gotta say I didn't get much work done at all this month. I did get a lot of Planetside 2 and Blacklight: Retribution playing done though! Both of which I'd definitely recommend! Still, there's at least a couple of new enemies and another small event to do. That's about all unfortunately :x
A new update of not particularly spectacular signifigance!
Posted 13 years agoYaaaaaaaay! Not much to say this time. Unfortunately not a whole lot of actual content was added. A lot of my brain power was spent fixing bugs for the first week, so I didn't get around to much actual new stuff to put in. I did change a lot of background things to hopefully work better and I added at least a few minor things. I did however finally add magic in! Although it's admittedly a pretty minor implementation for now. It's just an entirely new system, so I didn't want to get too in depth without testing to make sure everything actually worked and made sense. But there's at least a few spells in there to fudge around with until I get it more smoothed out. Normally I upload updates later in the day, but this time I have to work all afternoon, so I wanted to update it in the morning so that I can hopefully fix any major bugs before I have to go to work. So bug fixes may be a little sparse today.
That's about it basically. I'm still accepting donations for anybody who's interested; https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webs.....=7LMGEV7ZLR8CE . And as always I'm definitely looking for anybody who wants to submit actual content; http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/3633568/ . I'd like to give a big thanks to Forbic for creating much nicer icons for me. Sorry this isn't a particularly content heavy update, but hopefully now that I've smoothed out a lot more bugs/idiosyncrasies, I should be able to add more actual stuff next update.

I don't think I have especially much to say that isn't explained in the patch notes. A big shout out to
rossmallo and
sugarboy as well as several other people that I've hopefully remembered to credit in the update notes/in game credits :x
Also I'm going to start accepting donations yaaaaaaay!!? I don't really want your money, which is to say I always appreciate more money, but donating money won't actually change my actions one way or the other. But I do want to commission more artwork and what have you, and I'm too much of a cheapass to pay for it, and a few people have asked about donating money before. I have no idea how this is going to go, but the basic plan is to reinvest at least most of the money into the game, or something. I don't know if I'm going to get $0.05 or $1,000,000, but assuming it's some normal amount I'll probably be investing it in the game in some fashion...? I'm really just hoping I can prevent my Paypal account from getting shut down while simultaneously protecting my juicy juicy secret identity. If anyone knows a particularly good way to do that then I'd be glad to hear it. In any case, I just want to say that donations are donations, not sales. Under no circumstances can you ask me for anything in return based on donations, everrrrrrrrrrr. I'd much rather you not donate anything than donate something with strings attached. Hopefully that won't actually come up. Frankly I'd much prefer you donate content rather than money, but that's up to you to figure out.
I'd also like to recommend that if you like the content somebody else has submitted, then you might want to consider donating directly to them. Although you should contact them first and not be weird about it. Or maybe you could donate it to me and tell me to donate some amount to them...? I don't know how that's going to work, but I don't want to leave out people that submit stuff anonymously. Anyways, that's my chief rule for everything, "Just don't be weird about it".
Anyways, if you feel like donating something purely out of the kindness of your heart, click this link and hopefully it'll work:

Finally released a (minorish) update! Plus some other info
Posted 13 years agoWell I finally got around to uploading something after a very long and very very glorious vacation. I'm very sorry it took so long to update, but I had definitely gotten burned out on the project for various reasons. A lot of it has to do with general fatigue of working on the same thing for so long. Another part of it is that it took up a lot of my time for other significantly more fun activities. Another thing was a lot of negative comments really took the wind out of my sails. Mostly from off site, but not entirely. I definitely feel much more into it now than I have in several months, although I doubt I'll at all ever match the update schedule I had in the beginning.
On a semi-related irrelevant note, I very very highly recommend Dark Souls, Hotline Miami, and The walking Dead games. They are all quite fantastic :)
Anyways, my current plan is to update at the start of every month and only at the start of every month. I'll make minor bug fix updates in between for serious game breaking bugs, but otherwise all actual updates will be expected to go out on the first of each month. There are several reasons for this;
1. To cut down on people constantly asking when I'm going to update. Not that you're doing anything wrong by asking certainly, it's just that the answer will literally always be "I don't know" or "In a few hours", neither of which are particularly helpful answers.
2. So you actually know when an update is going to happen rather than have it be completely mysterious. It just makes it so you know when to check back all the time.
3. So I can have the updates be more meaningful rather than just a bunch of tiny inconsequential updates that often aren't worth bothering with.
4. To release pressure off of me to always be updating. Obviously I haven't been "always updating" for a while now, but I don't want it to feel like a constant failure everyday I don't post an update. So I want it to be more preplanned and spaced out.
If anybody still wants to submit content then I'm still accepting it. Although there's obviously a bit of a back log at this point. I plan on focusing efforts for the next update to include more submissions. Also, apparently randomly e-mails will get sent to g-mail's spam filter for reasons unknown to me. I've started checking it rather regularly now, but if I didn't get your e-mail that may be why :x . Still though, e-mail is my preferred contact format, it's extremely hard to keep track of conversations in most other readily available systems.
I suppose that's all really. I'd like to thank everyone whose been supportive so far. It really means a lot to me. I hope I can keep up a relatively consistent update schedule, although I can't really promise anything.

Accepting game submissions
Posted 13 years agoWell, I've finally accepted the fact that I'm really really slow at writing actual content. I've been having a lot of fun writing all the technical aspects of the game, but writing actual story of the game is really mentally draining for me :x. As such I'm going to start accepting people's submissions and actually adding them to the game. Although there's going to be a lot of ground rules, and I can't actually guarantee any one thing will actually make it into the game. But if I like whatever you submit then I'll add it in.
1) No personal characters - You can't write your own fursona(s) into the game. Any character or intellectual property you submit has to not exist in any other context, and any character you submit becomes pseudo property of the game. The main point of this rule being, I want to leave things open for other people to write things that add on to your submission or to add things onto your submission myself. And that gets really weird if it involves your actual persistent personal character. It's "pseudo" property of the game because you still get credit for it and everything, but it has to be a sort of public domain sort of thing so other people can feel free to add on to other people's submissions if they want to. So think of it more as an "add to story" rather than an RP is all.
2) Keep it PG - Ostensibly this is a pg game. It's marked as non-mature for a reason, which is to say no sexually suggestive stuff. I guess the boundaries of that are a little vague, but yeah, nothing overtly sexual.
3) Try to keep it within the theme - That theme being weight gain/vore/inflation etc. Which isn't to say I won't accept other things, but if you submit something specifically macro themed for instance, it'll probably be lower on the list to be added. And if it's forcefeeding themed it may be higher, but no guarantees :3 . Also the theme is specifically fantasy themed, so keep it within the confines of that. The boundaries of that are a little vague, but I wouldn't get any more advanced than maybe some very small amounts of steampunk, or whatever.
3b) Also this means there are things I flat out won't add, as in: scat/watersports/babyfurs/slob/anything sexual.
And also, no humans/electricity/aliens for thematic reasons.
4) Don't be weird about it - I don't really know how this is gonna go, but basically there will certainly be some submissions I won't add into the game. I'd certainly like to add everything everyone submits, but I know I won't be able to. So if I don't add your submission, don't take it personally. Mainly meaning that if it doesn't make it in, I'll tell you why and that'll be the end of it. It's not going to be a debate or a discussion, just an explanation. So no means no. No asking if I'm going to change my mind, no bartering/begging/guilt-tripping/insulting/sarcasm/passive-aggression or anything else after I say no. Also, if I say yes, you can't constantly pester me about when I'm going to add it. I'll add it when I add it and not a moment sooner or later. I just want to say there is not a single thing that will make me shut down this project faster than someone turning this hobby into a new stress.
5) Don't take it too seriously - This is supposed to be a fun exercise, so don't put your heart/soul/blood/sweat/tears/money into it or anything. I still want you to do your best, and the better written it is the more likely it is to make it in. I just don't want hurt feelings if you put a bunch of effort in and not get anything back out of it :x If you're worried about whether or not an idea is likely to make it in, please be sure to ask me about it ahead of time and I can give you an idea of what I think of your... idea.
6) You don't really get to set numbers - You certainly get to decide relative balancing, but if your submission is a sword that does 1,000,000 damage then I'm going to change that number entirely. So you could say an event causes you to "gain a lot of weight", but I decide whether "a lot" means 30 pounds or 1,000 pounds based on how difficult/rare that event is, for instance.
7) I may/will modify your submissions - I'll tell you the things I want to change and discuss it with you, but I want a certain theme/voice maintained so I may slightly modify how somethings are written. Like I try to have very passive descriptions of things. So, for instance, I try to avoid things like "You see the biggest lion you've ever seen", because you don't know what each character's seen. Maybe someone believes their character saw a much bigger lion in a museum when he was a kid or something, who knows? So I might change that to "You see what looks to be a 3 ton, 10 foot tall lion" or something. Similarly I try to avoid saying "The broccoli tastes gross", maybe someone else likes broccoli. I might say, "The broccoli tastes like dehydrated grass", and the player can certainly decide that sounds gross on it's own, but I want that to be left up to the player to decide. When you write, try to describe things with how the character would see/hear/taste/smell/touch that thing and leave it up to the player to interpret his opinion.
8) I want other people to add on to your submission - By extension I also want you to be able to add on to other people's submissions. So keep in mind that other people may want to add on to what you do. I'll certainly take your thoughts into consideration, but if I really like someone else's addition then I'm going to add it on. Keep that in mind whenever you're writing something. This also means I want you to add on to things I've already submitted as well. But if you want to submit the first part of something and want to submit a second part later, then I'll try to give you preferential treatment over someone else who wants to make a second part. Just let me know ahead of time.
I think that's it for the rules. I know there's a lot of them, and some of them may put you off of wanting to submit stuff, but they're there to prevent any hurt feelings down the road. I know some of them may seem mean or selfish or inconsiderate, but they're that way so that I don't have to sound mean/selfish/inconsiderate to some singular person down the line.
You can submit literally anything you want. Items, locations, descriptions, short scenarios, long scenarios, additions to already existing things, enemies, quests, player attacks, enemy attacks or any other random thing I haven't thought of. You can submit things that don't exist in the game yet and I'll try to add them. In fact I sort of prefer submissions that don't have systems for them in the game, because I really enjoy the technical aspect of coding things in. Although do note that the harder something is to add in, the longer it may take me to add it. And some things may just be too technically hard for me to do, but I'll try my damndest to add them in. If you want to submit some really large overarching system though, like magic, or npc reputation, then I may be far more discerning with those things as they define how all future submissions in that arena will work.
Scene Formatting
Formatting rules aren't particularly strict, but the better formatted the writing the more likely I am to add it in.
Basically anything that's variable should be put in brackets. Like "Your character is [X feet] tall" etc.
If you have a multipage event, have each page you want to have separate be separated by a line of dashes or ***'s or whatever
If there are choices to be made during an event put the choices in *Choice1*'s and label each thing they lead to with the name of that choice
You don't have to follow the formatting rules too specifically, just make sure you clearly mark;
Possible variables
Possible choices
Changes in stats
And make sure you account for different player species/genders/weights etc. You can have whatever parameters for events happening or whatever locations or be however specific you want to be, but take note that these things may be rearranged.
Enemy Formatting
Enemies need a Name, physical description, victory description, defeat description, attack descriptions, and player escape description. You also define in a general way it's other stats like strength speed etc. but I might change the actual numbers. You also have to say how many different attacks they have and when those attacks get used. You can also set species and gender if that matters, or have either/both of those be selected randomly if you want and also say what location or what type of location you want it to show up in.
Item formatting
Basically items need a name , physical description, and on use description, and you tell me what they do and how you get it and I figure the rest out from there. Items are a lot more free form than events are. Right now the other variables items have attached to them are, value, charges, healing, stamina restoring, stomach filling, calorie adding, base damage, damage range, damage reduction, how much it expands before breaking, and what status effects it has. You can have parameters set for it that aren't on that list, but those are basically all just numerical values.
Everything else formatting
Scenes/items are the main things I'm expecting to get submitted, but if you want to add area descriptions, player descriptions, enemy descriptions etc. to things already in the game then feel free. Although note that if someone submits something like character descriptions that I like more than yours, then I may modify/replace the descriptions you put in.
Art formatting
I'd be particularly happy to accept art, although I'll be very very selective on this subject. The real main problem is that if 2 people submit art for the same thing, I have to choose one over the other, there's not really a way to have both in. So this may be more of a contentious issue. Right now the only art assets I'd be accepting is setting artwork and enemy artwork. No artwork can contain player characters, as there are too many types, and enemies with random species may be a little awkward to implement as well. Basically each enemy is going to only have 1 artwork, which is hard to reconcile with things like the wildlings who can be any race the character can. So I may stay away from them for your own sake, but if you want to feel free to do something representing them. I probably won't be accepting specific scene artwork as they would almost inherently contain the player character, although if I really like what you submit then I may add it in anyway. Ostensibly all artwork needs to be colored and in similar theme/quality with the rest of the artwork.
But in any case, all artwork must be .png format. Background images must be at least 275x415, and enemies must be smaller than that so they can fit in the little window for them.
Actually submitting it
The best way to submit it is to send me a .txt file of your submission through e-mail to sck140 at gmail. I prefer .txt to avoid any formatting issues, as it's all going to be put into code anyway. So you can type it in whatever, just make sure you copy/paste it in notepad before you send it to me. Don't submit it through notes and don't submit them as comments, because the system for both those things is kind of awkward and hard to keep track of. Although if you just have small suggestions and not full fledged submissions, then feel free post them here or on the actual game submission itself.
Credits
If I add your submission to the game then I'll name you in the game's credits. If you want to remain anonymous then please tell me, but otherwise I'll probably assume you want to get mentioned and add your FA name or whatever name you want me to put in for you in the credits. Well, assuming your name isn't something vulgar I guess, but I can't imagine that'll come up often :x
Thank you all for your time. Sorry that this is so long, but it's to make sure things go smoothly for everyone involved. I want to avoid any hurt feelings or ill will at all costs. I hope you have fun with it, and I hope that a lot of people respond, but I frankly have no idea what to expect :x
1) No personal characters - You can't write your own fursona(s) into the game.
For anybody who likes really stuffed big cats
Posted 15 years agoThe television series Big Cat Diary is now on Netflix \o/
You may have not heard of it, but it's basically a tv series of a couple animal researchers studying Africa's big cats. It was also probably the big thing that started me off on my whole fat lion kick. In any case, I'm going to try and record videos from it.
Edit:Fixed the sound thing! Although it hisses and is really quiet, still better than nothing. Any input would be appreciated on how to fix it.
In any case, this is probably one of my favorite/oldest/most influential scenes I can remember

Also another one of my favorite clips that I didn't even know came from this show, now with sound!

Also I updated my other collection of lion photos

Also I uploaded a bunch of pregnant animal photos, for those that are interested \o/

Gorged lion photos
Posted 15 years agoOver the past several years I've dedicated a lot of time to finding photos of well stuffed animals, bordering on the point of madness. Recently I've shared a significant portion of my collection with a couple of people and in doing so that helped me organize what I had better. And given that yahoo groups is kind of the armpit of the internet and has horrible file sharing capabilities, I didn't really have much of a convenient way of sharing them with people in general.
But recently I've found out that mediafire is apparently the hottest shit ever or something, so I've uploaded all of my bloated lion photos there. I also separated the more bloody ones into a different folder. Not that any of them are really worse than what you can see on nature documentaries or whatever. Also I guess a lot of them are mature cause animals are naked and yadda yadda yadda
So for anyone who's interested, you can find them at
http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=.....4bfef7ef5beeff
And hopefully that'll work :o If it does I'll upload videos and other photos in the future.
tl:dr 900 Bloated lion photos are^^^
