Mate is in trouble
Posted 13 years agoI don't know why I am coming here to post this, but I have little avenues to reach out to at this point.
My mate is stuck in the northwest part of Missouri in a town named Branson, without a job and in a home that was making it too difficult for him to live in. He originally came out from Washington, and put a lot of time into this little town, only to be, at current, under threat of homelessness in just 3 days. I don't know what I expect by posting this up, but maybe someone in a position to help him out, even with just words of condolences would cheer him up, and I would be very appreciative... Thank you for paying attention to this.

Won't be with my mate this summer...
Posted 13 years agoA lot of things have been happening around here with me, keeping me away from friends online and whatnot. I do apologize for not being on FA so often as I once was, you, everyone who can see this, are all great furs. I am writing this because there are not a lot of mediums with which I can inform vast amounts of people,. or just rant because I need to, or vent if I am troubled.
For a while, me and my mate were planning on me moving from where I am, Michigan, down to where he is living, Missouri, so we could be happy with one another. Two years later, that moment was approaching, and things are not going well financially. I have had two computers die recently, and now only have a very shoddy pc made out of decade+ old parts. One hard drive has already burnt itself out, on my last one of those now as well.
My mate isn't doing so well either, being pressured to find a place of his own that he can't afford yet, and he isn't getting much help from anyone.
I just badly needed to tell this to somebody, someone who'd listen, someone who'd care.

National Defense Authorization Act S.1867
Posted 14 years agoAlright, this has two names: The broad audience name National Defense Authorization Act for fiscal year 2012, and the bill's name in the senate, S. 1867. the entirety of said bill can be found here. this is the version that has passed senate. Under "SEC. 1032. REQUIREMENT FOR MILITARY CUSTODY", subsection a paragraph 2 states:
'(2) COVERED PERSONS- The requirement in paragraph (1) shall apply to any person whose detention is authorized under section 1031 who is determined--
(A) to be a member of, or part of, al-Qaeda or an associated force that acts in coordination with or pursuant to the direction of al-Qaeda; and
(B) to have participated in the course of planning or carrying out an attack or attempted attack against the United States or its coalition partners.'
Those are the requirements to be abducted and detained by military forces. Now, look at Subsection b in regards to US citizens and Lawful Resident Aliens:
'(b) Applicability to United States Citizens and Lawful Resident Aliens-
(1) UNITED STATES CITIZENS- The requirement to detain a person in military custody under this section does not extend to citizens of the United States.
(2) LAWFUL RESIDENT ALIENS- The requirement to detain a person in military custody under this section does not extend to a lawful resident alien of the United States on the basis of conduct taking place within the United States, except to the extent permitted by the Constitution of the United States.'
Carefully reread subsection b paragraph 1 again: The requirement to detain a person in military custody under this section does not extend to citizens of the United States.
And one more time. The requirement to detain a person in military custody does not extend to citizens of the United States.
Once more. The requirement does not extend to citizens of the United States.
Spelled out, US citizens do not need to meet requirements in order to be be detained into military custody. Call Rand Paul if you don't believe me yet, not only will you receive confirmation, but you will also know that indeed it is getting little to no media coverage. Talk to everyone you know about this, the news won't do this for you.
