Posted 6 years agoI'm not sure why I keep posting art here, I don't think I have any active followers. I haven't had a comment on an art piece since early 2018, and in the last two years here I get 0-2 favs per piece.
I think I'll still keep posting my animal art here though, if only to have it all in one place.
Most of the people I used to follow here back in the early 2010s aren't active anymore.

anniversary of failure
Posted 8 years agoSo a few weeks ago marked the anniversary of finishing my first novel. Which, to me, just marks a year of dozens upon dozens of rejections from literary agents. A few of them said they liked my writing, but ultimately it's been a dead end. But perhaps the most disappointing part of all is that I don't even believe in the story anymore. Now I don't even want it to get published.
At the beginning of the summer I was hoping to start writing a second book, completely unrelated from the first, but with the intent to use what I've learned to make an even better story. I tried different ideas and started multiple stories but nothing stuck, or rather, I had too many ideas, and I couldn't settle on anything. Along the way my mental health reached new lows, and now the summer has whittled into the past. I still don't have a group of friends (though it's been that way for 4 years) and I tried to join a club at the beginning of the semester, but the people there already had pockets of friends, and it was hard to break in. I talked to three people for a few minutes and that was okay, but I'm not sure when I would see them again. The hour before the meeting I spent a long time in the grocery store trying to find the perfect introductory snack to bring, and eventually decided on a box of chocolate tea cakes and pocky. Unfortunately though no one wanted any and by the time I left the meeting they were still the only things unopened on the snack table.
This has devolved into a weird rant now but I just wanted to talk about it somewhere. I still have a lot of story ideas and I want so desperately to write another novel, but every time I get excited I'm reminded of how excited I was writing the first book, and the idea of going through all that work to get rejected is paralysing. I'm trying to push through it though because being an author is the only thing I can imagine doing for a career. And I know I just have to keep writing.

I feel like I used to have a lot more online friends a few years ago when deviantart and furaffinity were more active, like I always had people to do art trades and memes etc with. but over time most of them have vanished, only to be seen rarely posting on instagram or twitter @_@;;
so does anyone just wanna like...talk about our OCs with each other and doodle stuff? or just geek out over skyrim/dragon age/lotr/fallout/harvest moon etc? 8)

Posted 11 years agotoday i spent my entire day off thinking about different ways to commit suicide.
I know my death would hurt a lot of people I know, but after years of depression I just don't know what to do anymore. I just wait for every day to pass. I hate my art, I hate my friendships that are slipping away, I hate feeling like a confused loser...as an immigrant I am constantly feeling ignorant and inferior.
I hate my online presence SO. MUCH. no matter how hard I try to improve and spread my art so other people can enjoy it, hardly anyone looks, no one commissions me, people rarely leave nice comments. I don't expect those things on furaffinity anyway, since I don't draw furries, it's websites like deviantart and tumblr where I am constantly feeling let down. I'm posting this journal here and not anywhere else because I know too many people IRL on those sites whom I don't want to see this.
my art problems may seem trivial to a lot of people, but it doesn't matter. my feelings are my feelings, if I could care less about art issues then believe me I would. But after spending hours and days and weeks on my pieces, and they get barely any recognition if any, compared to super popular artists who post a 10 minute speed sketch and get hundreds of favs/likes/etc. it's just a very discouraging feeling.
I hate where my life has gone. I just want everything to stop. For the past year I've had suicidal thoughts almost every day, and no matter how many long talks with friends I have, the pain doesn't go away. It doesn't heal. I have so much anxiety and stress, most of it I bring onto myself it seems, and almost every day is spent waiting for tomorrow.
I have a nice family. I live in a nice place. Those things make the pain feel even worse, because I have no idea where it's always coming from. I feel like I've been drowning for months, I'm not sure what's been keeping me alive. I just don't think I deserve to live.
I don't think this journal accomplished anything. I certainly don't feel better. But I'm not going to kill myself today. When it comes down to the act I can never do it. But I'm just so lonely and pathetic, I don't see the point of it all anymore.

Posted 12 years agoSo my sister and I just got back from the Loch Ness boat hunt tour and exhibition! It was very, very cool and mystical.
Northern Scotland definitely has a distinct accent compared to the Lowlands. Both are charming though!
So all in all, I HAVE BEEN TO NESSIE'S HOME!

1. Why did you join FurAffinity?
Because I was curious about the website from hearing about it in passing on deviantART. I'm not a furry, or a furry artist, but I found the site to be a lot calmer than dA, and an almost vacation home from bigger websites, ha.
2. What does your username have to do with you?
"norree" is my username on deviantART and tumblr. I wanted a name that was quick to say and recognizable. Also, I wanted it to sound like the word "Norwegian".
3. What is your current avatar of?
One of my art pieces! It's over a year old now.

So, I have been on this site for maybe two-three ish years now, and I still feel like I don't know anybody. Is this just a hard community to get into?
I post art semi-regularly, with some anthro and a furry here and there, but I dunno....no one seems interested? I just want to make some fA friends is all!
