Nusair's Review of the PDP Afterglow headsets
Posted 12 years agoAlright so I saw this headset...and I have been on the hunt for a new hetset since the pair I used to use had ha habit of breaking. Anyway here is a link to the product. http://www.pdp.com/c-18-afterglow.a.....FQXnnAod0RwABw
Wired version review.
Alright down and dirty time. My initial reaction to this headset was quite positive. They look nice, have soft curves and sleek look to them. The retractable microphone is nice for when you want to listen to music on the move and don't need the feature. The backlit sides and clear plastic top is a cool effect and adds to the overall cool design. By far the best design feature is the clear part that holds the earphones together. It is quite flexable and strong. This part of the headset has little to 0 chance of breaking and makes them much more likely to survive any fall or drop on hard surfaces. However Where it connects onto the earphones is hard plastic and thus still vulnerable to this type of damage.
The ear padding is quite comfortable and the curved bits of padding around the ears helps keep it comfortable and cancel out the sound around you. HOWEVER...I was blessed with a bit of a big head. The earphones felt great but the band that is designed to rest ontop of your head was very uncomfortable for me. There was no way to adjust the tension on the wires that keep it connected and thus after about twenty minutes the top of my head was left tingling and sore. However...this is partly my fault for simply having a big head. Those of you with smaller frames and heads shouldn't have this issue.
Now down to sound quality! Voice and Music sounded pretty good. Granted...this took some time to set up. I had to fiddle with the settings on my computer's playback devices and recording devices to get the levels right. However once that was done I was pretty impressed at what it sounded like for a 60 dollar headset. I would see myself having no issue using these headphones for travel or music when away from home. I would even use them for a VOIP like teamspeak or Skype. However where this headset falls short is in gaming. I played for about 30 minutes of Planetside 2 with this headset and the sound in game just seemed...not very sharp. I had a hard time trying to decide where gunfire was in relation to me. Where footsteps were coming from, gunfire didn't sound as real or sharp. Alot of the sound effects just didn't pop out at me. Of course some of this had to do with them not being surround sound.
That all said after giving them a higher score due to the affordable price of 60 dollars I will give them
4 out of 5
If the wireless version is up at about 90 dollars and have an extra feature in them. However at 90 dollars I would draw the line. I don't think the wireless versions would be worth the increase in price unless the sound was that much of improvement.

computer bragging rights...
Posted 13 years agoSo my new graphics card came today. I just two SLI 460's with a single geforce superclocked 680 with 2gig of ram and now average about 200 FPS. Just wait...I will be dropping a second one in and SLI them in a few months....I'm a fucking nerd I know.
New character inbound as well as a new character aquisition!
Posted 13 years agoSo the other day I bid on and won a character auction from
Dog-bone and the artwork associated with him. His name will be changed but as it turns out there is some artwork there with Artica, Suntattoowolf, Dasa, and a few others which I didn't know and was a happy surprised. Look for those pics to be posted up soon enough.
Also I had another character in creation the last few months and you guys should be seeing her soon. This one is a bit of an oddball for sure and we will see if it goes over well I'm still waiting to hear back from someone about if they will do the artwork on her or not. So keeping my fingers crossed for now cuz she is a bit of a complicated one ^.^
Don't worry don't worry, Nusair is still my Fursona and will get a majority of the dedication on here, but I will admit to being a bit excited for my crazy Alien girl!

Thanks to friends, and emotional ramblings.
Posted 13 years agoRecently I read RK's journal on a subject that ended up hitting me close to home. (( Link here https://www.furaffinity.net/journal/4155755/ ))
And when I replied to that journal I found myself thinking of some of the things I've been though myself. So here I am making a journal with some of those thoughts. But to sum up some things, it has been more then once that I was burned both in RL and on the internet by those pretending to be something they were not. In more ways then one and not just in the way described in RK's journal. This is something that has effected me pretty profoundly, I will admit I RP Nusair pretty similar to myself she is very much a fursona. I can be cold, I can be a dick, and I can seem downright uncaring at times. I've known this about myself for some time, but after reading RK's journal I had some time to reflect on those feelings and realizations about myself. It dawned on me that it is because of these events and dealing with those people that they are very much part of the reason I am the way I am.
Of course some of you are going to say...well no shit! Life's experiences shape you like that. Well of course you are right, but sometimes we don't know how much those things will or do effect us till long down the road. And I've been in the community for some time and one of the things I've learned about the furry community is there ...larger amount of fakes, frauds, and users. Or...at least the kind that come with big smiles and demands of emotional attention. This also has shapped the way I deal with people on the internet and in the community. I don't think all of you...us are bad, but I know some of them are. I've even given money to those here on FA who had asked for help...only to be very fooled and find those people were just defrauding people, nor did they care at all for those who offered them this 'help' they asked for.
But that all said I would like to say I'm sorry to those around here who have genuinely offered a hand a friendship and found a bit of a cold Khyn at the other end of it. There are a few of you who I very much find and think of as friends! You likely know who you are and I may seem distant and I offer very deep apologies but having been burned one is always much more careful. But know I do really appreciate these friendships, and I do very much value your friendships even if I don't always say it or show it in ways that are so obvious.
THANK YOU! ALL OF YOU!

Star Citizen - this game looks sweet!
Posted 13 years agoSo what game am I looking forward to next? Star Citizen! This game looks pretty damn sweet, and offers you everything from FPS style gameplay to space sim! You can sign on as part of your friend's crew and gun their turrets, repair their subsystems and ship, or try a boarding action on enemy vessels. Or you can fly your own ship and be an explorer, merc, military guy or just a merchant! It really does look amazing so far and it isn't even in alpha! Anyway I dropped a few bucks on the kickstarter and now they are offering extra in game currency for anyone who is recruited by friends. So go on over to http://www.robertsspaceindustries.c.....zen/?rid=51305 my referral page Check out the movie, and if you sign up just put down my username as the one who recruited you. My username is Hedge for this game.
Game stream Tuesday!
Posted 13 years agoSo I've played around with the idea of doing a Stream, I think I will be doing a game stream of Natural Selection 2. So if you want to watch me shoot a bunch of aliens...or eat a bunch of humans feel free to tune in! I'm not sure what time it will start yet but, I will likely have 2 shows some time after noon eastern.
I have 2 steam games up for trade.
Posted 13 years agoOk so I've been low on funds and haven't gotten much in the way of artwork lately. That said I do have two extra copies of games on Steam, one of them isn't released yet however.
I have Civilization V and Natural Selection II
So that said I'm willing to offer these games up to any artist that would be interested in them in trade for some artwork. I may also take another game in trade if I was interested in it. Let me know if anyone is interested.

Fuck....
Posted 13 years agoThat is about it...fuck 40 straight hours of work...I'm fucking beat. *goes into couch potato mode*
Well it seems the day for good posts.
Posted 13 years agoSo well hell, some of you know I've been working on my house and what not. Well for the most part I'm done. Finished most of it up the other day. A few little things to pretty up but it makes the house look good. The parents flew into town the day I finished! Stress anyone?
But today was back at work and many of you know I work in the EMT/Firefighting profession. Well today we were given the honor of helping a mother give birth to a beautiful little girl. Quite a moment of confusion as the tones dropped to tell us to go to a different address for a pregnancy when the door opened up to a distressed husband telling me to forget the lady on the radio, the woman giving birth is RIGHT HERE! Well a few minutes layer I was playing catch with a baby! So now the name gets to be the delivering Dr on the birth certificate O.O holy shit right? hah
So then a few hours later the husband comes by to shove a bunch of gift cards at us and thanking us. Guess they are coming by for pictures in a few days too. Funny stuff but as a job that we typically show up on people's bad days it is always good to have a call where you are there for the good moments

Fucking right, double bacon cheese burger from Sonic with tots.....fuck you calories I'm already wearing 20lbs of mud. Now....couch prepare to be my bitch.
Thanks for the attention and new friends!
Posted 13 years agoSo I've been on a bit the last few days, and have gotten lucky enough to meet some new people. It seems I've gotten alot of attention suddenly. A bit surprising after being around Tapestries for awhile and being a bit of a shut in. But I've seem to have made a few new friends and have gotten a bit excited about it all! Thanks again to RK for her lovely art, and the good times watching her stream sketches, where I've had the luck of running into so many cool people.
About time for a new Journal
Posted 13 years agoSo...what to write about? I've not updated in awhile. I guess I can complain about the effects of hard work. I've been spending lots of time outside working on the house and yard. Which let me tell you is always a damn pleasure in a Georgia summer. Eight hours in the sun...ended up the same color as a stop sign...I'm as sun burnt as you can get...a walking pillar of pain O.o
But hey sweating and working hard...putting all new flooring in the house this week >.< urg the labors of being a home owner. But after the floors are done! I can return to a life of swimming and paddle surfing again. The river has been calling my name and I have yet to have a chance to go. Now...to go put more lotion on my back because IT BURNS!

The good Friday the 13th!
Posted 13 years agoSo, the bad day started on the 12th, bla bla bla the computer company I ordered my new laptop from called me after two weeks of my order being processing. Apparently the color I wanted was out of stock and on back order( Took them two weeks to figure this out! ) So they call me to tell me the fastest way to get my computer is to resubmit the order in a new color. I would think this is a simple process. But...some two hours later I have that solved. Then my employer some how messes up my Direct Deposit and that took a few hours to solve with the damn office >.< So basically a full day of problem solving has me exhausted.
So...I wake up from work after the healthy 24 hour shift and start my 2 hour drive home for Friday the 13. Traffic was unnaturally terrible and a bunch of jack ass drivers doing 30 on the highway. Of course...I get pulled over by the cops! So here I go thinking it is going to be another shitty day..BUT! The cop seems to offer me some pitty and as I hang my head and accept my blue slip of paper from the man...he points out the word WARNING on the slip and lets me on my way. So hell now I'm starting the day with a good attitude! I get home to find the mate cooking me a hot breakfast! Then two hours later the bank calls me to tell me they messed up one of my deposits and is crediting my account an extra 25 dollars for the inconvenience. Then to top all that off my tax refunds come in! THE JOY!....now I likely jinx myself so now I must be on guard and fight off any drama that might try to ruin this odd Friday the 13 of joy!
