Adventures in comissioning artist. Just a bit ranting feel free to ignore.

Last year 2023 in July i sent a comission inquiry via email to a well followed artist on twitter. (35k followers, with artstation and other places)

They promptly responded that they are open in september/october. No problem!
Sept/oct pass by and i hear nothing.

I sent a new email in november 2023 asking, they said some to deal with and waitlist got pushed back, and they'd be open back fairly soon.
Thats completely fine as no money has exchanged hands yet.

Well its 16th August 2024 now and still rolling my thumbs waiting on opening(they wrote in first email they contact 3-4 weeks before working)

Looked at their twitter where they share work(they have artstations and proper galleries too, i just found them on twitter as what they draw is perfect for what i want)

And now i read that waitlist is pushed back to 2025.
They couldnt have made an email list of everyone waiting on work since -23?
I am very close to closing my waitlist application and finding another artist.

The issue is finding another artist who can draw magical weapons, i got a viper dagger i want drawn 🤔


I know shit happens and i dont blame them at all, just dull.

Twitter sometime talks about profiles being safe spaces.

I dont really consider my pages being specifically safe, but as someone has been jullied in school, i'd request no bullying or any right wing nutjobs on my pages.

About 10 years ago i remember wondering why there wwr many gays and mental illnesses about, thinking if it was a fad, something cool.
While i still wonder about why some artista only draws gays art.

I have learnt in the last ten years that its's perhaps the fact fluffies are more inclusive, open and acceptin of all the rainbows and mental struggles.
Character developement yay? Ever been a homophobe. But my time here has taught me a fair bit.
But i still dont have strictly gay characters or write gay stories, as i feel uncomfortable depicting truthfully what i am not.
And in porn as detish i prefer the atraight fetish, haha.

Fallout 4 is a Great Videogame!

Not many other similar games have same openness, pretty graphics and ruggedness.

My favorite features are the weapon and armor modding, settlement building amd shooting and exploration.

I will agree with you its not a perfect Fallout game. But i tend to think games standalone, its fun.

Modifying armors and weapon gives guns and clothes a wide variety of uses, and not just one type of gun in one type of usage. Full auto, semi, fast and slow or more or less crit, vats or no vats. Near flawless. Mods expand this to pornographic levels.

Armor similar, specially power armor, nowadays more utility and not just hunk of junk armor. But boosts and modifies certain aspects. Shadowed and muffled leather armor can last you a long time if you like the aestethic.

Settlement building. Few playthrough i have early decided not to do much in Sanctuary, just to find myself 2 hours later never left the place cleaning and building. Its simplicity is what i find great. It works and i hope next fallout has more of it. And it works great alongside survivalmode.

Speaking of survivalmode.
I was nervous first time trying it. But enelies die as fast as you, you need to think about your actions and days mofe detailed. What are ya gonna do, what do you carry with you, can you rest along the road.
Its difficulty for a noob like me who has a job that leaves me too tired is not too bad, i really like it!.

I also enjoy Exploration.
Several biomes, many open buildings, settlements, two great dlc with two great areas. Almost always something to pick up along the road. Ducktape, a fan or other junk.

Some of my favorite moments is sneaking through the ruins at night, hearing supermutants to my left, ghouls to my right and bandits behind me. A nearby building is likely also full of goons. Its that fitting levels of horror.
Ghouls are fearsome fast and diseaseridden. super mutues are big, heavy tanky and scary. Bandits are numerous, tactical and grenade spammy. And then all the wonderful animals wanting a bite of your face!

Got ideas of games with similar atmosphere or mechanics? Settlement or camps. Weapon modification, combat and or sneaking.
I know about metro series, great game but rather linear

- Hard to find prices, if they are a small newbie i can understand, but if their price list is behind five sudokus and an excorsism it makes it hard to decide if i even want to commission them. And i dont really like asking every second artist what their prices are.

-Inability, or unwilling to communicate. I know being an artist is hard, and i dont require them to listen to my life story. Heck i dont even require them to write or spell collectly, translator is good. But what i would like if they dont know or understand they should ask and not guess. If a ref is unclear, Ask and i will tell.

-Publicly ridiculing, disliking or mocking my characters or commission. I dont care if you trashtalk my comm or characters in private with friends, go ahead, hell. In private tell ME you didnt or dont like the idea or character and i can change them, or not chose those characters or idea in the future.
But in public saying a character is eyebleesing, ugly or stupid. About a character i have put my heart and soul into hurts me. Personally. Does not give a good image of the artist.
Hate the character all you want, but keep it inside or in closed friend circle, not public.

-Hard to find art examples. This is mostly twitter. Twitter is an horrid site to keep as a main gallery. Hate FA all you like but its one of the bigger art site, heck keep it as a dump to dump art to use as examples. Twitter media tab shows every meme and reply you tweet or reply, makes it hard.

-Artist, after i have waited a long time for my commission, takes other big commissions and finishes them before my commission, and then ridicule me for asking about updates once or less a month.

-Galleries that are all reminders about reminders for characters or auctions. Clogs it up and makes it difficult to see art.

I really like Skyrim so I am biased.

But i've been thinking lately, that gameplay style ways there are not many like it.
Open world, free to explore and watch the scenery, sure there are a few like that.

I've found Skyrim to be strange, it plops you down and lets you go about your business, a few games that do that yes, but even fewer that barely tells you where to go.

Now why do i consider it be the best game for someone with a job?
It's the pick up and play, and then put it down style. No bombastic cutscenes, fights tend to be short, you can quicksave nearly everywhere and return later.
I remember shortly after Original SKyrim(Oldrim, old skyrim) came out, and i was working evening shift at a foundry. Got up at 10, make breakfast, boot up my pc and play a couple hours of skyrim and get to work to 14 in a better mood, could even play a bit after work.
I've found a lot of games have a definite start, middle and end. SKyrim doesnt, sure it lacks bombastic stories, but i enjoy when it allows me to roleplay and go about my business, be it sneak in dungeons, wander form one end to another, read all the books or just wander about watching the scenery.

For its simplicity it's an absolutely lovely game. Not perfect by any stretch of the imagination.

Currently working in another foundry, day shift, 06:50-15:20. I've noticed i can get up at 05, play skyrim a bit, just sight seeing or wandering about and feel like i've done something. Compared to Dragon Age Inquisition, lovely game but every combat encounter is a game in itself, keep yourself alive, buff, debuff and all the like. GRaphics are good but not much to sightseeing.

My main problem in skyrim is between the two versions i have over 1000 hours in it, i've played it too much, that's a game i would love to forget just to fall in love again.

It's awful to look at.
Everything disappears into a flood of junk.
No tags.
Hard if not impossible to search for art and/or artists.
Following a few hundred accounts, twitter does not allow me to scroll far enough back after sleeping one night.
There is no gallery, if the artist posts memes or such as reply to others, it floods their Media tab.

Are the artists too lazy to upload to a few places and write tags? They just wanna splooge arts into one place and hope for the best? Who REALLY owns the art you upload to twitter?

My second ever PMD.

I chose Axew as starter(who doesnt wanna be a badass dragon, and needs a dragon to protect my new town) and pikachu as partner.

I dont remember too much, but i enjoyed town building aspect and you can plant and grow what you need. The game felt very alive.

It's alright. i enjoyed it

To make them more intelligent.
A limiting factor to reptile intelligence is the limited amount of energy in the egg as the young is growing and evolving.

But if they gave birth to live young like mammals. Would give it a chance to grow a bigger brain and be more intelligent.

Then ofcourse depening on dragon anatomy. Horns and wings.
Horns ofcourse would not have grown inside the mother. wings maybe small and flexible. like bats.

And if they gave birth to live young they would not be stuck inside eggs for the risk of predators eating the eggs.
Live ones could learn to walk or ride the mother or father if he is around and protect the young

And you kinda want that art.
And its paid, and it feels wrong to ask someone else to draw the comission you ask for.

Why does it feel like so many artists are either mentally or physically health or whatnot so damn unstable.

Good reliable artists are so far inbetween. Or i just befriend the weak ones >_>

And now i want a saber toothed tiger character.

I enjoyed taming beasts, using them in battles, using them to take out key enemies so i can sneak, or use one to kill everyone.

Solid gameplay, solid stealth. Beautiful graphics.

Later in the game you can tame saber toothed tiger named Bloodfang, that killed your last hunting team. That kitty is great. Strong, fast, and you can ride him to get places fast!

so i ws out strolling. get attacked by a trainer, no biggie i thought. Munchlax my first pokeon out versus her.. gastly.
Well this is a situation.

Her Gastly first used an attack to lock my Munchlax out, cant switch pokemon.

I end up doing metronome. But her gastly has an attack that draws 4 PP of the attack. And metronome is available for 10 attacks only. So i ran out of Metronome. And Tackle has no effect on gastly.
Gastly proceds no nom my pp of tackle and metronome out. Has Mynchlax locked AND keeps puttig him asleep. That gastly had no damaging attacks.

Munchlax has 4 moves. all normal.
Tackle which has bo effect.
Metronome which is out of pp.
Hold back which i cant do because i am asleep and its normal so no effect.
Happy Hour only makes it so i can get more money out of a trainer.

I ended up to close the game. last save 2 hour back.

I got a neat discount on deus ex mankind divided i can use. And trade the steam key for art maybe?

Made me think. What is in that price? What is the price made of.
Also what is a ok sum to ask for a reference sheet abd "rigjt to use the character and call it mine"?

and how ok is it to add a lot to the price if he or she comes with art the new buyer did not comission, does not want or does not feel for?

Plus i seen some adding to the price because the character is dear to them. Or add a lot because they hsve a lot of art.

Sounds a little like i would add to the price of the car i had. Peugeot 205 from 1985. Old, and according to sone artists here i would be ok adding the amount of money used ob the car (too much) plus more price since i liked the car.

At work it likes to heat up to over 60 celcius according to its sensors. Then cpu throttles to below 800mhz and everything is laggy as fck!
