Posted 9 years agoHey, guys. I know I've made a few journals in the last couple of years where I tell you guys that I'm going to try and post stories again regularly. I try to, I really do. But I'm slow because of work and school. I'm such a busy snort. You can at least expect a few dumps of mini-stories like I did the other day from time to time. But I can't set a schedule.
I have to say, I've been pretty happy with the last few mini-stories. I feel like the Doll House (what I call Oscil's world for those of you that are new to my stories) really grew in the last year or so. It feels more organic now when I have characters talking.
I actually had a few of my older watchers ask me since I started the story arch with Xael if Impy is leaving. Impy's going to be going to college, yes. But that doesn't mean she's gone. Impy's just going to be around less and probably on the phone more. But the beagle isn't going away. I love her too much. 8P Also, I realize there's getting to be a lot of characters. I'm building up a world where I can use characters for different things. Introducing Xael was necessary for the over all Oscil story. The latest one, Dr. Garriot, was partly necessity and partly something I just had to do. XD Part of my own sick sense of humor and bizarre tastes.
Dr. Garriot is so gross and so weird she sticks out like a sore thumb in Oscil's world of beautiful people. I just love it! Stinky, woolly, socially awkward, poorly dressed, green teethed, and unintentionally rude...
Which brings me to another question I get a lot about Oscil's world, do I have a favorite character or one I want to meet? You'd think Dr. Slater, but you have to remember that's Oscil's Mistress. I'd love to meet Deana... But I have a horrible confession to make. Dr. Garriot's my waifu-4-laifu! XD

Sorry I haven't been around much. The life of a professional academic is pretty hectic. I've been gone a while, I know. I hate to think of how long it's been. I'm still not done with Uni (college not a unicorn), but I'm going to try and do a story a week. Like in the old days! You know, before I disappeared and life got all stupid. 8(
I miss you guys and I miss writing about the Dollhouse. I'm going to try and get another story up tomorrow.

One Pony, One Question, and $...
Posted 10 years agoSo, pony's slowly finishing up his doctorate. Thing is, I'm slightly concerned about next year. Not so much the written portion of the PhD or the work but the money. Admittedly, it goes with the territory that PhD candidates run low on funds but there's a lot for me to have to do next year that costs cash.
I'm not going to ask for donations. I made it this far in life without asking anyone for help. I don't want to start now. I've never even had to borrow money from my mom and dad, which is something I'm proud of.
Anyway, I'm working two jobs but one of them is seasonal. I've been everywhere that feasible to work in my area and the schedules are either too conflicting or there's just no way they can hire me. That means I'm either eating a lot of rice or I'm going to have to find money elsewhere.
What do you guys think about me trying to sell a book at pay what you want rates, one chapter at a time? It wouldn't be Oscil-related, but it would be erotica. Honestly, I want to keep Oscil free. It wouldn't feel right to try and charge for Oscil-content (Pony-content or Snortent). I'm thinking about doing something along the lines of The Red Shoe Diaries, something where every chapter is only loosely linked but instead of new characters I want to focus on two main characters.
I think the main problem is that I can't do art for it and there's no real way to bring an artist on for the project because I can't afford one and I think my audience response is pretty chaotic/sparse at present. Thanks to all of you guys that continued to stick with me while I was in Grad-school. We're coming up on the homestretch now. It won't be too long before I'll be Dr. Pony... Dr. Snort. That's better. 8P I figure this coming year should be my final year to finish the PhD and I can finally settle into a paying job and start working on stories again.
I miss you guys. I know it seems like I'm never around any more or like I never have any contact with you guys, but this has kind of been life or death for me. If I finish this, I'll be able to support myself and pay off my debt. If something happened that I couldn't I'd be in a lot of trouble. And you guys don't want to see the old pony snortin' around in a cardboard box below an overpass, do you? 8( I'm not Reverend Jim Casey. *Flicks tail.*
This is the price I have to pay for not having it in me to do an engineering degree and not being able to settle for the jobs I used to hold. But, I'll make it now. My supervisor thinks he has a job for me, my thesis is good, and I beat all the problems I was having earlier... In one case literally. XD I kid... But, yeah seriously I bit that guy. >8(

Posted 11 years agoSo after a flurry of angry emails and the Pony actually moving into his office (I literally went to my office and made camp) they offered me a new housing contract for a dorm that I frankly hate. The upside is, it's a single and I get my own bathroom... Oh and it's postgrads only.
The down side is the location. I hate that part of town. Hate it with all my heart. *Sits there flicking his tail like an angry cat.*
I suppose the best part is I now have my money back and the dorm only costs half what I would have paid.

Posted 11 years agoJust an update on my PhD progress. I'm doing fine, but now I'm having trouble with my housing.
The University saw fit to not open the hall they pre-sold me access to for September. Now, I'm being told they don't have a space for me in housing and aren't sure what to do. I told them that I wasn't particularly concerned with their mishandling of the situation, it was the sort of thing I've come to expect from their housing staff. I did tell them, however, that I was very concerned with what they intended to do, as they've already charged me for the hall in advance.
They offered me a room in a freshman dorm, which is actually worth a quarter of what I paid for the other place, but claim they can't be sure they'll pay me back the difference.
Time to go be stereotypically Irish about it...

Cheska 's YCH auction didn't go as well as she'd hoped. 8( I don't normally make journals about donations. Goodness knows the old pony could use a few. But, I think Cheska really needs help. Plus Cheska's been a furry forever, a classic really. I still remember as a young and impressionable snort, I used to love Bastian's pics of Cheska in latex bondage. XD I know times are tough for us all. The pony's completely overwhelmed right now. Our department had a huge budget cut and the Pony's head is on the chopping block first. 8( But if you can spare a few bucks think of the mouse.

I'm still swamped with reading, I had a conference this year, I have another this summer, I had to teach a class all by myself, I had to make an exam all by myself, and now I have to prepare my students for the exam. It's a vicious cycle for a little pony to get a PhD. XD
On the plus side, it's hard work but enjoyable work. I'm doing everything I can to get done fast and get back to you guys. My hours are so weird right now. Weirder than the average PhD, actually. One day I'll explain.
But for now, just hang in there and wish the pony luck.
I'm still swamped with reading, I had a conference this year, I have another this summer, I had to teach a class all by myself, I had to make an exam all by myself, and now I have to prepare my students for the exam. It's a vicious cycle for a little pony to get a PhD. XD
On the plus side, it's hard work but enjoyable work. I'm doing everything I can to get done fast and get back to you guys. My hours are so weird right now. Weirder than the average PhD, actually. One day I'll explain.

Posted 11 years agoHey guys, first year of my PhD will end soon. I hope I can take some commissions and do some writing for myself later on next month.
So anyway. I keep hearing about these JO crystals that people are buying to charge up. You know, just wearing them around town, hanging with their bros, during sesses and what not... So I have this weird question for any of you that may know. If I give my crystal to a lady what happens? Especially if she wears it attached to a body piercing?
*Sits there awaiting answers with a flicking tail and gnashing teeth.*
