I guess it's long past time for an update.

Right now my writing of the story I used to post here has pretty much ground to a halt. I'm not exactly sure where to go with it and currently I have two other projects I picked up that I'm trying to get somewhere with.

As far as real life, I got a job as a delivery driver for the local Jason's Deli, and I'm banking the money from that to fund a trip north to move in with a long-time friend. I feel like I've gotten all I'm going to get out of Virginia, and I have too many memories here that I want to leave behind.

There's not really that much to tell, I guess, but I happened to be at my page and thought I should finally put out an update. Maybe I'll actually manage to do more of these now.

Naturally, I deleted the update post-haste, but my laptop had already begun to show symptoms of this update.
Within two weeks, I couldn't even re-install the drivers for my wireless adapter which this update messed up. I was pretty sure I was going to have to re-install Windows, as more issues starting cropping up, and a talk with ASUS tech support confirmed this. Today, after backing up all my files, I did so, and now my laptop is running fine, and I'm in the process of putting all my programs back in.

But I missed something.

My music, videos, and pictures were all saved, but I somehow missed the entire My Documents folder. As I had migrated that over from my old laptop after buying this new one, that folder represented everything I've written over the past six years.

And now it's gone due to a stupid oversight on my part.

Not even sure how I feel right now...

25 mph on a straight road in a 98 Yukon in four-wheel-drive mode, and we got into a spin and slid off the road into a 4-foot ditch.

WELP.

So most of the 2.5 hours spent out of the house was actually the time the 3 tow trucks spent trying to get our Yukon out of the ditch, which had the road blocked off for over an hour.

That's what I did today.

I'm taking all my current chapters down. Going back over what I've written so far, its trash. There's some things I'm going to keep, but the focus is off and there just isn't any reason to care about any of it. Once I'm done putting together a new first chapter, I'll be uploading simultaneously to SoFurry from now on.

I am just not getting any writing done. Seriously. It's starting to annoy me. My experiments in alternate forms of writing on other sites are being becoming similarly stagnated. I've got a bloody progression for the next several months of my timeline all laid out in my head, and still have no clear plan of how to implement any of the events themselves.
Gonna keep working. I think everything we're dealing with around my Grandfather's death might be distracting me. I'm put in mind of jackals around a gazelle at some points. In any case, this too shall pass. I guess this is an...update...or something. Whatever.

Now to see if I can actually upload something to this account which hasn't had any use in months. Well, other than Favorites, because you can't forget those.

Just realized I did something really dumb in my latest chapter. Gonna need to upload a fix to that, and I think I now have an idea for my next chapter. I know I'm mainly humoring myself with these journals, but whatever. XD

I think its fair to say I'm looking forward to seeing this come to fruition.

So, I just watched the live stream of the Dust 514 keynote, which featured (FINALLY) some tasty orbital bombardment action. The crowd went NUTS. They split screened it so you could watch the guy on the ground paint the target, and then the other CCP Dev fire the shots from orbit. To say that I'm looking forward to doing this with my Rokh this summer would be a rather gross understatement.

With some help from  runa216, I finally managed to come up with a name for -my- character, after over a year of using a stand-in. I changed my FA profile to reflect this, though it really doesn't matter until I finally get to the point of introducing him in my story. Other than that, I finally dusted off my SoFurry account and put my current chapters up there as well.

Updated "Aftermath and Revelation" with some edits, detail modifications, and two of the songs I was listening to when I wrote it. I can't remember the others.

May or may not stay the way it is. Right now I'm okay with the flow, but this would hardly be the first time I've changed my mind about something. In any case, any feedback is, as always, appreciated.

This next one's going to be called "Aftermath". Decided not to be fancy with the title or anything. Just as a warning, it's gonna be mostly character development.

Ever have what seems to you like an almost transcendent epiphany? I just had one today, and it gave me the one final element I needed to draw my entire narrative together. This has now evolved from a series of short-stories done for fun into something far greater than I initially imagined. At the very least, I now have what I need to continue my story, so expect to see new posts soon.

It's not that bad, so I'm just glad I have the day off today. In other news, I'm going to have more than enough cash for classes this summer, so the future's looking pretty awesome right now. Getting further with the stories I'm working on, but progress is still slow.

Masonry was defecated

That's a long time not to post a journal, so I'm making one now.
Not a lot to say, really. Been getting an average of 33 hours a week at my new job, which is a MASSIVE improvement over being constantly broke. As a bonus, shoving shopping carts around a parking lot for 8 hour shifts is bringing my weight down, and my muscle density up. I might actually be able to break into a job once in a while without sounding like I just ran from a monster.
One potential issue is that my laptop is falling apart. The hinge assembly came apart -completely- on the left side, allowing me to discover - much to my relief - that the monitor ribbon passes through the opposite hinge, which was only halfway broken. I fixed both with liberal amounts of super-glue and duct tape, but my ugly fix is wearing off. Got a laptop that I'm looking at, but it'll make things a bit tight on the money front to spend that much in one go. Shouldn't be an issue, but it irritates me that I have yet to have a laptop last more than two years. Needless to say: no more Acers.
