Well one idea anyway.

Yeah, I'm letting my notifications pile up on FA again, I honestly don't know how anyone finds the time for all the Stuff they need and want to do.
I'm absolutely exhausted.
So I was planning to open comms again soon, but I'm actually going to hold off, I'd like to tidy some stuff away, and then attempt a short-er painting course, to sharpen some skills, and see if it's something I can juggle with my job.
In the past I've also occasionally been open to taking on 'under the counter' commissions, that is, ones outside of my normal commission journal posting, I won't be doing that from now on, there's a couple of projects in the works to put to bed, but once they're done it's my regular commissions only, it's not been great for my anxiety or organisation to do things outside of that, and I just end up not doing half as much work as I actually could be. I'm always happy to hear about ideas if anyone wants to clear something with me before they get a slot, but I won't be taking those any more.

I'm toying with the idea of breaking out the ol' 'bribe slot' again though, once upon a time, back when my comms were like £10 for way too much work, I used to take on like... 3 artist's choice slots, plus one bribe slot. I think it was 50% more than a normal one, but anyone who wanted it, got it, first come first serve, as long as they were happy to pay the extra to 'skip the queue' as it were. I'm iffy about it, but as I'm getting more and more inclined towards figuring out if I could live off my comms, it might help me gauge how accurately I'm judging my prices. The normal slots will remain open and predominant whatever I decide to do, I think RNG works well for me.

I've been thinking recently about finding the time to work on my own characters, either in world building picture or stand alone porn, and justifying working on them when I need to focus on comms.
So I was wondering, would there be any interest in sponsoring a picture?
The main difference between just outright commissioning me to draw my own thing, verses sponsoring, is that while I'd have a price in mind, it wouldn't have to be paid by one person. So if I needed £100 to dedicate the time to complete something, it could be paid by 10 people paying £10 if they wanted.

I'd love to know if there's a smoother way of keeping track of things, but my current thoughts are I'd post the sketch into my gallery, people could pledge some ££ if they wanted, and once I got to say... 50% I'd invoice those who've pledged, with the thought that I'd need a minimum of 50% of the commission price to justify prioritising it along side my commissions. Anything over 100% might go to alternate versions or just be considered a nice bonus, anyone pledging after I've reached 100% I'd probably give the offer of retracting until next time.
I think anyone pledging £10 (£5?) or over should get a fullsize version of it too.

This wouldn't be the only way for me to generate personal art of course, it's more that I hardly ever finish off personal pieces as I'll just jump onto the next comm. It would be nice to have some more fully lined and coloured things of my own OCs =P

Been off to a sluggish start this year, but I think the best thing for me is to buck up and take on some work to occupy my time.

I am highly distrustful of antis and fanpol of most forms, despite them mostly, I hope, having good intentions.

I believe to be responsible in fiction there a number of things one must do, not least Reading The Room.
Which is why I don't truck with art dealing in... slavery porn of POC, nazi imagery, bigotry etc... despite being fine with non-con. I'm not going to get into the details here, but at this point, in this climate, if you're still openly posting images of your OC in a nazi uniform, I will just presume you're not here out of an appreciation for historical uniforms and will block you. Likewise if I see, for instance, "anti-feral porn" on your profile, and you're following me, with a lot of feral porn in his gallery, I will not presume you mean "anti feral porn, but only that which personally squicks me out, the details of which you'll have to guess" I will just presume you're hate following me and block you. If you really must let people know what repulses you, then at least be specific when your feelings on the topic obviously change depending on those details.

I also work on the basis that non-con in fiction is either fine, or it's not, no one form is better than the other because that has unpleasant implications, however there are some forms I don't personally deal in, I don't consume it, I don't take commissions of it, I may personally avoid people who partake in things that personally ick me out, I don't set out to pass any kind of moral judgement however. As an extension of this I don't take "surprise gift" commissions that deal in non-con, it's an imperfect system but all character owners at least need to be involved for me to do those.
The consent of the People involved are what's important to me, the owners of the characters are the sentient consent-giving creatures I need to talk to.
"Don't be an arsehole" basically sums up my world view, I draw the line at hurting Real people and animals, I don't consider thought crimes to be a punishable offence, but may warrant professional support if they're causing distress or harm.

FA's tag system isn't great as there still is no proper filter, and it's impossible to tag all CWs in the title at this time, but I do try to tag the big ones, particularly non/dub-con as that's a big one for a lot of people. I'm always open to requests to add certain things to the tags etc... just hmu in the comments.

I'm not a big fan of the internal policing of queer people by the LGBTQ community at large, so all ya'll 'bad' queers, the trans women who enjoy trap porn, the trans men who like cboys etc... ya welcome here too, I'm happy to do work of that kind, but like wise I do NOT accept the application of slurs to characters whose owners have not consented to it. I don't tag any character as 'cboy' etc... unless specifically requested by the owner, and due to the sensitivity of the topic I may use CWs at my digression. If you're going around referring to trans people by slurs or loaded terminology in my comments, consider yourself, you guessed it, blocked. Play nice.

My partner has had a crap year even on top of all this Covid shit, long story short: they're queer, their parents are not supportive, they can't move out.
And I'd like to send them a nice big box of Stuff this Christmas that generally affirms them, their existence and that they're seen, and one of the things I'd like to do is a collection of pics of the dragon I made for them and/or the fishy one I bought for them.

I have no idea if I'm back at work next week =\ I'm hoping so but it's a big fat unknown right now.
So I'll be opening slots cautiously for a while.

I reserve the right to refuse any commission for any reason, including denying the inclusion of one of my own characters.
Please do not harass me into accepting a commission, or involving a character of mine, this is a good way to ensure I won't work with you again.
Communication to be done via email with exceptions due to commissioner's personal circumstances (I may waive this if the number of slots is small).
Please have your refs and ideas in order before claiming a slot, failure to do so, or depending on me to work from vague ideas when you don't intend to give me artistic freedom may be considered Design Work (see below).

So recently I’ve been feeling pretty stagnant/unhappy with certain aspects of my art, and I’ve been missing the opportunity to just study another artist’s work, do some sketches based on theirs, and notably, try to do a... mini series? Or set? Of my own work, based around their style and what I’ve learned. I have a pile of art books sitting around not being well utilised right now, so what I wanted to do was basically... pick one up, and spend a month or so, entirely focused on studying that artist’s work.

I was wondering if there would be any interest in me offering a handful of commission slots for this, where I take a handful of characters (furry, human, feral, anything, variety is the best) and they become part of the study. The price would probably be £20-£40 depending on how much time I expect to put in.
It could be particularly fun to have recurring characters that I revisit for each different study, so I might offer a discounted price for that p=

I’m not sure on pricing yet, this is more of a test the waters deal.

I’m also not sure how/where/if I’ll be sharing much of this, I’ll definitely be posting to my subscribestar as I go along, but I can see myself only posting some of the more refined later pieces here—might do a collection in .pdf format at the end though.
