When my boyfriend was younger, he was involved in a car accident. He was a passenger, and he suffered some damage. He still suffers today.

That accident ripped through his leg, tearing out a quarter-sized chunk of muscle in high left thigh. Every day, in order to alleviate the pain attributed with the loss, he takes medicine.

Last Thursday he went to his doctor.

His doctor told him that his leg is undergoing nerve degeneration. Most likely, this means that he will be in a wheelchair someday, and the doctors cannot determine when. That day could be in thirty years, or possibly three.

Of course, my boyfriend did not take this news too well. He's been in a slump. He didn't tell me until later Saturday night what news his doctor had given him.

And it wasn't easy news for me, either. He and I for the most part had our future house planned out, as I want to be an architect. I decided I would do whatever I can to our future home to make it wheelchair friendly. However, that might not be necessary.

I mentioned that if it came down to it, he could get an amputation and a prosthetic leg. He wasn't shy to the idea, as he's suggested it before because of the pain his leg causes him. In fact, he almost seems excited about having a prosthetic. I can't blame him. I'd choose it over a wheelchair.

Whatever happens to his leg, we need to save money. I'm going to start cutting back on my spending (though I don't make much at the library), and he has a pretty promising opportunity for a job this summer.

Tuesday, October 13, is my one year anniversary with my boyfriend, so we went out yesterday to celebrate.

First thing we did was go floating- more information on what that is here: http://chicagofloatationtanks.com/h.....loatation.html ).

Anyway, I hallucinated a lot of neat things. It started out with horses, like my last one. Then one horse went right in front of me. Its eyes were glowing, and then it shot out a huge laser beam from its mouth. A vortex of shiny light was swirling in the middle of everything, which is when "I transformed into one of the beams, and then the eventual transformation into a crimson-to-violet dragon. Some times, I saw things in first person, sometimes in third.

One thing I remember, Eric was falling in the sky, and I caught him, embracing him with a big hug that only a dragon could give. He suddenly disappeared, leaving me confused and disheartened. Darkness fell upon the sky, and I saw one single, glittering star. I rose up, and saw that the star was getting nearer and nearer, and I left earth's atmosphere. My arms raised, and felt the star close to my grasp. Just within arms reach, the star vanished, and I was dazed. Feeling disappointed again, I briefly looked down, but my attention was derived back to the spot where the star once was as millions of the stars flew past me. The glow paralyzed me, and then I changed again.

Now, I was still a dragon, but it was a much different form. I was a fetus in a shell, and my head was glowing orange. After growing and puncturing the shell, I was born into a seemingly small pond. As a frog, my being emerged to the top. I lept, transforming into a horse with furious eyes, and lept again. This was my final transformation, back to a dragon.

Then I had to leave the tank. I want to go floating again. This was only my second time, and I imagine a third time will be even more interesting and complex.

We stayed at the lobby of the building for about an hour, totally relaxed, when we decided that we should probably get to the CTA trains, so we wouldn't miss the metra back home.

We did miss the metra, though. By two minutes. We waited around at the train station for two hours. Luckily, it's indoors, since it's downtown Chicago, and it was particularly cold for early October. We spent most of our time in the bookstore at the station.

So, we got home a lot later than we expected. We hung out at a hill for a while, then decided to go to Outback to eat, when my mom called and offered us a ride there. We both got prime rib, which was scrumptious! :3

Then we went to my house, and we were so tired. We were sitting in the front room on my couch, reading FML or Failblog or some other random site. My family was watching a movie in the back room. At some point we fell asleep, and my mom woke us up at 11.40. It was very comfortable.

Great day. :3

I hate being sick. But who doesn't? Unless you love being sick because it gets you out of school... But that's stupid.

I try to avoid missing school whenever I can so that I don't have to deal with make-up work. And that includes the times that I'm sick.

So many times today, I wanted to go to the nurse, but I didn't. Because I'm stupid and should be smarter about not being around other people so they don't get sick..

But so many people are! My school has like, it's own little plague. It consists of fever, and runny nose, and sore throat, and fatigue, and headaches. Well, I didn't have a headache (I'm lucky- I never get those).

But I tried taking some pain/fever medicine earlier. I can never swallow pills, so most of the time I refuse to take them. But my boyfriend helped me. He had me smash the pill with a spoon onto some paper, then pour that onto my tongue. Then I drank water to get it down. It doesn't taste great, but it works.

I should be at work right now. I called in sick, though. It's only my second week of work and I've already called in sick..

But anyway, when my mom got home, she made my boyfriend leave because she doesn't want him to get sick (and neither do I) but he wanted to be here, and his sister's already had this sickness this past weekend.

Oh yeah, I'm rarely sick, so when I am it really messes with my mind and I get all emotional. I cried when he left. I NEVER let anyone see me cry. I hate that. But there I was, hugging him and crying- trying to say goodbye.

Moral: BEING SICK SUCKS

Today, after school, I went to the park with my boyfriend, Eric. We were hanging out on some of the playground equipment. I was sitting, he was kinda laying back. As we were talking, some lady walked out of nowhere.

Here's the dialougue. Crazy lady is in quotes, I'm in bold.

"Do you think you're age appropriate for this park? My daughter said she saw you making out. Teenagers shouldn't be doing this at the park like this"
We hadn't kissed. -.-
Um, I'm not sure what you're daughter thought she saw, but we weren't making out.

No, I just think she might have seen things wrong (I was looking at a scar on Eric's chin)

No, I just said, She might have interpreted it the wrong way.
"How would you like if I were to call your mother and tell her what you were doing?"
Um, sitting here? I think she'd be perfectly fine with that...

No, I don't think they should. We were behaving ourselves just fine.

And then she continued with that last bit about 12 times in different variations. Psychooooo. :k

Anyway, her husband was there, too. Probably to make sure she didn't get too outta control. He kinda apologized after she left. Actually, she probably would have kept yelling at us if he hadn't been there.

Now, my boyfriend and I aren't the type of people who do the whole PDA thing. Maybe an occasional hug, but that's not something someone should get angry about.

Oho~ I almost forgot.
There was another woman there that was talking about me and Eric to someone on her cellphone. I heard her just fine, and there's no doubt that it was us she was talking about.

But seriously- What the hell, lady?

My boyfriend and I have been together for about 11 months now, and I finally decided to tell him something that I've been wanting to say for a while.

That is, I told him I had a crush on him our freshman year of high school, and even up until he asked me out. Turns out, he had liked me, too. So why is it that this seems really strange to me?

We never spoke to each other in the class that we had together, even though we sat right next to each other. Halfway through the semester, I had to switch seats because my computer broke down (it was a desktop publishing class). He said that he was upset the day it happened, and from that day on he would wait to log out so he could line up at the door near my new seat. He says he was never really social during the last class of the day (even though it was only 4th period. Complicated situation I won't go into...), so he never did speak to me.

That was all new information to each other. It's even weirder when played with the other facts we already knew. He lived just around the corner from me for 5 years, and we never knew. Unfortunately, he doesn't live there anymore. But we were on the same bus for a semester on Mondays. We were both involved in backstage activity for theatre. So, we knew and were good friends with some of the same people. I had never stopped liking him, even through the summer, when we saw each other ONCE.

And then sophomore year came around. My best friends and I were going to Homecoming, and one of my friends was going to try to find me someone to go with. My current boyfriend.

But, I'm still so confused. How could we not know we lived so close to each other for so many years? I would pass his house every day to and from school. He would occasionally walk past my house to go visit his aunt who lives just a few doors down from me.

If we had known all of this...
How would things have turned out between us? Would it all be just as awesome? Better? A failure?
I know there's nothing we can do about it now, but it's just so weird. So much to take in.

Two days ago, I went to my uncle's house to see his new kitten, which he named Madonna.

She's a munchkin cat with white fur with the exception of her grey ears and tail. She also has blue eyes. She's only a pound-and-a-half and is expected to be only a pound bigger. So, she's about the size of my shoe (US Women's Size 8).

He's hoping that when she's ready, she'll have kittens, since he also has a munchkin cat that is a male.

If she does, I may get one. :3

Well, on Wednesday, August 6, I went to the Warren Sand Dunes in Michigan with a bunch of family and family friends from my old grade school.

The night before the one-day trip, I packed some items I would need: A hair brush, hair ties, a change of clothes, etc. And, of course, my camera.

I knew I would be taking a lot of pictures, and when I checked my camera at the end of the day, I had taken 173.

So, besically, the rest of the journal will tell how my day went (if you, the reader, wants to read it, of course. It will be long).

6:30 am was the time my mom woke me up, a half-hour later than she said she would. Still, I got more sleep and had enough time to eat breakfast- some old frosted cheerios that I discovered needed to be thrown away.

Matt and Jack (my two younger brothers) and I each took something to bring to the van, where we waited until our parents were ready and our cousins arrived. We would be in a caravan with them on the way there. Ben (my cousin) came in my family's van because he did not want to be with all the little girls.

We started Napoleon Dynamite and passed out of the driveway.

During the ride, my mom and my aunt (my mom's sister) were talking through the two-way radio, basically just messing with each other. We saw a ton of road signs for Crazy Kaplan's, a firework store.

Oh, how I wanted to buy some fireworks.

Anyway, we were finally there, paid for parking, and started unloading our beach gear onto sleds to make the transportation of it to the beach from the lot easier. I had already started taking pictures. Sunscreen was on and we all stormed into the water. Except for me.

Now, here's the part where I tell you about the pictures I took. Apparently, I'm a "photoholic". Most of the pictures I took weren't even of people, just the scenery. And if they were of people, it was mostly my little cousins Abby (sister of Ben) and Jenna and Jamie (twins).

So, by the time I decided to get in the water, I had already taken 15-20 pictures. Not even a half-hour later, I had dried off to take more pictures.

Soon, I was off trying to get pictures of seagulls. I only got two that I really like. :[

The water that day cautioned a yellow flag, meaning there were a lot of waves. I went out in the lake with my cousin Sami onto some inflatable rafts, and dit was really fun. Some waves even went over our heads.

Then I took a break and got MORE pictures.

After that, I was trying to dig a hold in the sand with Abby, Jenna, and Jamie right near the water. It was hard, and maybe not so smart to try to build it right where the sand met the lake. Later, though, the work was worth the result. There was a hole big enough for the three little girls and their floaties to sit in. They dubbed it their little "pool", since they dumped water into it.

And of course, more pictures and more rafting.

Why is this place called the sand dunes? Because there's a huge sand dune, which is the next part of my journal.

I went with Jack (brother) and his friends Devin and Casey and my friend Katy to climb the huge sand dune. Again, I hate myself, as I did not bring my camera to the top of it, which had an AWESOME view. The sun wasn't out, which meant the sand wouldn't be super hot like it was last year, but I still wore sand shoes, which just slowed me down. :[

We stayed at the top for about ten minutes. We wanted to leave through the trail in the back, but there were a ton of mosquitos, so we went back and ran down the dune.

Here comes a cool part of the day.
There's this clay pit not too far off from where all our tents were set up. It's about a mile-long walk through a streamm and a trail in the woods. I brought my camera, not expecting the water that was up to my ankles last year, to be up to my waist this year.

Oh, I bet I looked so funny. I was holding onto my camera with my life. If I slipped, the only part that didn't go under water was my right hand and my head. And it was really slippery.

Nobody knew where or what they were going to step on. There was logs, sharp rocks, gooey sand, and super-slippery clay at the bottom of the stream.

I fell behind my group a bunch of times, because I wanted to take pictures. But I didn't want to walk when my camera was out of its case, so I had to stop, take it out, take the picture, and put it back in.

Then we finally reached the clay pit after what seemed to be about 45 minutes.

The clay pit is what it is. A clay pit. Clay can be scraped off the walls. Clay is on the people. Clay is everywhere. I am mad at myself that I didn't get and pictures of it.

And then, there was the walk back.

I didn't take many more pictures after that. Only about ten.

There was just a bunch more pool rafts.

Jack, Katy, Devin, Casey, Sami, and I all connected our rafts together by holding onto each others' rafts. Each time a big wave would come, we would try to hold ourselves together. It would have been cool to see this from a bird's eye view.

Then I went out on a raft accompanied by my mom on another raft. She went to talk to some other parents in the water, but I just stayed by them.

Later, Katy's dad saw a big log floating way past the bouys and she told him to go get it. I came by on a raft to see it, and soon, a bunch of Matt's friends showed up and were making a bunch of log jokes. They were all holding onto the log and wated to bring it back to shore.

Not too long after that, we all had to leave. Everyone went too go find a changing room, gots into their cars, and headed to Redamak's, a restaraunt near the dunes. I bet they were surprised when an unexpected party of forty-something showed up. It was to be an hour wait.

While we were waiting, I went with my mom and some cousins to the small car show across the street. I also went with some friends later, too.

Our tables were ready. I already knew what I was going to order: a triple cheeseburger and cheese fires. Same as last year.

Last year, I had about two bites left of the triple cheeseburger before I declared that I could not eat anymore. This year, I wanted to eat the whole thing.

And. I. DID.

That's when the forty-something people in the group started clapping for me, which confused the other people in the restaraunt, so they started clapping too.

Man, that was a good burger.

So, now's the time we really did leave. Ben came with us on the way home, too, and we watched Anchor Man.

My dad is talking about going back next week, but I'm not sure if he's serious.

My cousins' house caught on fire yesterday.

I was with them at the time it started.
Nobody but their two dogs were inside the house. But, they're ok. One of their neighbors broke a window and got the dogs out. I heard the dogs were really scared.

It started in the back from a circuit breaker. The back of the house is burned. The rest just has really bad smoke damage.

I heard it'll be 6-8 months before they can move back in.

I've never been through something like this before, and, I gotta say, it was pretty scary. I first found out from my uncle yelling to my cousin, "Go find your mom and tell her the house is on fire!". That was after some woman that my cousin knew came up to us, looking for my uncle.

Then the lady brought my cousin and I to the house. I didn't actually see any fire, but I could see the smoke two or three blocks away.

They were able to get a few things out of the house.

I heard it'll be 6-8 months before they can move back in.

I just thank God that nobody was hurt. <3
