How do I dealt with food-stealing puppy
Posted 17 years agoSo Angel has a bad habit: begging and stealing food. She tries to jump and grab at whatever you're eating, or planning to eat. I ignore her when she whines and barks and shove her away when she tries to jump, but recently she's been getting a little sneakier.
Tonight I was making some rolls and I had them sitting out on the table while I waited for the oven to heat up. I thought that they were too high and too far in on the table for her to reach, but somehow she got the pan and knocked it to the floor while I was doing dishes less than a foot away. So I slapped her and said NO, and when she got very violent when I tried to take the rolls and pan away from her. I put her outside. My mom eventually lets her in, where she makes multiple attempts to steal her dinner. She eventually runs into the bathroom and grabs some cat poop and starts munching on it, and of course mom gets up to take it from her and clean it up. In that few seconds she's over at my mom's plate eating her dinner.
The night before Thanksgiving she somehow got a piece of raw turkey and bit my mom so hard that it broke the skin when she tried to take it from her. :| I always try to keep her bowls full of fresh water/food, so I don't know what the fuck.

Posted 17 years agoSo yeah. A friend of my mom and I's daughter found the puppy that I've been taking pictures of by the side of the road yesterday evening. We thought that it might be too soon to get another (since my golden died recently of cancer) but then we saw this and it was like "oh fuck we have to keep it".
I went out and bought puppy formula and toys and other stuff a puppy would need, and this morning we took her to the vet. She was too little to have blood work done or to get any shots, but the vet examined her as best as she could and the only thing really wrong with her was hookworms, which she's getting treated for. As for what breed she is, we think she's mostly lab with a bit of spaniel mixed in, because she has a lab body but spaniel markings.
She mostly eats, sleeps, and poops. She sleeps pretty soundly until its food-time, which results in lots of spilled milk and thrashing and grunting. She lets us know when she has to go to the bathroom when she gets all restless and fussy (because she doesn't want to go in her bed) so we take her out into the backyard to do her business. Then she goes back to sleep.
Our cats aren't sure what to think about her. All they've really done is sniffed her and poked her a bit, but have otherwise left her alone.

I only has like 4bux left, but its awwwrite. I got to meet Seel and Fossil and a lot of other cool artists.
Next time I'll actually bring moar art stuff than just a few ballpoint pens and a sketchbook. :/

I won't have a table or anything because my art isn't awesome enough, so I'll probably be chilling with my laptop and sketchbook and camera somewhere observing the happenings. I might like, do a quick painting or something for the art auction or whatever furry cons have as the equivalent, but I dunno.
