Technical difficulties...
Posted 16 years agoThe gods of technology were not on our side today, and as such, we got delayed. Sorry folks! Hopefully you'll have some new music tomorrow.

A new song is on the way!
Posted 16 years agoNick has just written this brand new song that we're all really excited about. We got most of the music recorded today - tomorrow, I'm going to lay down some piano tracks, and then Nick is going to sing his lyrics that he wrote.
Sorry we've been so absent from here lately. We've got no excuse (ahem, NICK, stop being so lazy) but rest assured that we'll be trying harder from now on to keep updating here! We love you guys so much for all of your support!
We can't wait for you guys to hear this next song. Keep your eyes and ears peeled for it soon!
Love to you all,
~ Sam (and Nick and David)

Taking a break today...
Posted 16 years agoSometimes Nick can just be an idiot.
IF YOU SEE A WEBSITE THAT HAS "FREE MP3'S" AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD, DO NOT CLICK ANYTHING!
Read that sentence fifty times over. Then, repeat.
The computer we use for most of our recording has been hit pretty hard by some viruses. We're doing the best we can to repair it. I've been running all sorts of anti-virus programs. Anybody got any good suggestions for online virus scans that we can use? I'm using Trend Micro's HouseCall 6.5 as we speak.
David is clueless when it comes to computers, and I'm not letting Nick ever use that computer again. Oy vey. DIDN'T HIS MOTHER EVER TEACH HIM HOW TO AVOID PICKING UP MALWARE?
Hopefully we'll be back on track tomorrow.
peace,
~ Sam, Nick & David

Thanks for all the suggestions! // FACEBOOK
Posted 16 years agoWe all wanted to thank everyone who suggested song titles for us to use! Of course, we can always use more suggestions, so feel free to post any more that you have.
As Nick posted earlier, we've also got another song cooking up right now, and we're aiming to have it ready sometime tomorrow. (or today - now that it's 1 a.m.) Thanks for all the encouraging and wonderful comments on our new tune "Firewalker"!
Nick wants me to let you all know that he's now got a profile up at FaceBook. Apparently there are quite a few "Nick Fox"s out there on the interwebz, so to narrow down your search, just type up our email address to find him there: pawsforeffect.band (at) gmail (dot) com
We've also got a fairly new site up at ReverbNation that you can check out!

If we had a Twitter account, would you guys sign up to listen to our crazy updates? Or would that just be a waste of valuable cyberspace?

Posted 16 years agoHeeeeeey what's up?
I'll give you all the reason why we're so busy .... by night we're humble musicians trying to make our way through life while maintaining our artistic ideals... but by day, we're crime fighting superheroes! We defend liberty, justice, freedom, and nachos!
...
nah, not really. but how awesome would that be? I had you going for a second there, don't deny it. :)
truth is, I wish I had an excuse for why I haven't been able to come up with anything new lately. maybe I'm trying too hard. maybe I want it to come too easily. either way... THAT'S WHERE YOU COME IN!
help me jump start the creative process. come up with a song title, and post it here! if it's awesome and gets an idea flowing for me, it may just become the next P4E song!
is this a cop out because I'm suffering from writer's block? possibly. but is it fun? DEFINITELY! :)

Pictures of the band!!
Posted 16 years agoRecently, Nick, David and I went to visit the amazingly talented KKitty23, whose artwork you can find here...
www.furaffinity.net/user/kkitty23
We had a nice long chat, shared some tea and ideas, and she decided to do some portraits for us.
After taking a good long hard look, we realized - they're so realistic, it's like looking into a mirror. If you want to find out what we really look like, then look no further than the wonderful works of KK. She's a dang fine artist, and a swell gal, to boot. No foolin'. Why am I talkin' like a hillbilly? I'm just that cottin'-pickin' excited!
There will be individual portraits of each of us up soon - so stick around and take a gander!
And of course, we're still working on music, too - but we're all visual creatures, and I'm sure you're curious to know what we look like. In the meantime, just enjoy our new enhanced usericon. It's a small preview of what's to come.
Again, we want to send our deepest thanks out to KKitty23 for all of her hard work! Thanks! We owe you one!

an update from Nick!
Posted 16 years agohey everyone :) sam's been hassling me about never coming online or talking to you guys, so I'm here to prove her wrong and say "yes I can get off my tail and do something besides just play guitar all day" lol!
i'm building a facebook page for myself! isn't that exciting?? once I've got it ready, I'll let you guys know and we can be friends for real. because you're just not a real friend unless your friends on "the facebook".
got a new set of lyrics I've been working on today. We're gonna try recording it soon so hopefully it'll be online in a day or so. I wrote the lyrics and it's sorta inspirational and "we can change the world to make it better"... that kind of thing. david laughed at me when I showed him the lyrics. called me a hippie. do I care? NOPE. yeah, I'm a hippie and I believe in dreaming big dreams and that miracles can happen. I'm not ashamed. well... not too much anyway :) haha!
hope you're all doing well, and I hope you know how much your support means to us. thank you so much!
~nick
by the way, I went out and got sam some honey nut cheerios this morning and made her a bowl for breakfast but she still hasn't forgiven me. xD man she's stubborn. never get between a girl and her breakfast cereal.

The beauty of mistakes and the tragedy of Honey Nut Cheerios
Posted 16 years agoToday just started out bad for me.
I wanted some honey nut cheerios, but Nick got to them first. He's a nice guy and all, but I really wanted my cheerios! I had been craving them for breakfast, but then I found out that he had already finished them off before I could. I'm not a happy squirrel right now.
I'll get even with him. Oh yes, I will.
So the boys and I were trying to work on some music yesterday. We were working on this one tune that Nick came up with a few weeks ago, and we were seeing if we could enhance it and turn it into a full fledged song. And then, all three of us, at the same moment, realized one very important thing: None of us liked it! Nothing was coming together the way we wanted it to, we were fighting the song every step of the way, and most importantly of all, we weren't enjoying making the music! That's a recipe for a BAD SONG. You have to enjoy the art you're creating or there will be no joy in the finished product. Even if it's a painful song that rips your heart out, you have to connect emotionally with it. We weren't connecting with this tune at all.
So our 3 or 4 hour long musical excursion was for naught. We didn't end up finishing that tune, and that's why you guys didn't get your daily requirement of P4E music yesterday, even though I know I said you would. Sorry about that. My bad.
But that brings me to an interesting point: as an artist, or a musician, or heck, just an honest hard working citizen of this wacky country, don't we need to realize when it's time to give up and start working on something else? Tenacity is great, and you'll never succeed without it, but I think there's a fine line between tenacity and stubbornness. Why should we be afraid to look at the work we've done and say these simple words: "Well, that sucks. On to the next project."
Pencils have erasers for a reason. You'll never become a good artist if you're not willing to throw away the mistakes you've made, and more importantly, learn from them. Isn't that what progress is all about? You make a mistake, or spend 4 hours working on a song that everyone realizes is bad, and then you learn from it! Now we'll be a better band and better musicians because we have just a little bit more experience than we used to. Robby Takac, the bassist for The Goo Goo Dolls, said something to this effect once in an interview, and it really stuck with me: "If you have to write 1,000 bad songs to get to that 1 great song, then it's worth it." That tune we were working on was one of the stepping stones that will lead us to a great song.
Nick was depressed because he felt like he wasted a lot of our time and effort on his idea, so yet again, the duty of cheering him up feel upon my shoulders. I should have just smacked him though, because he needs to understand -- even when we make art that sucks, we're still making art, and we're still able to learn from it and get even better. Yes, there is such a thing as bad art... but no, there is NO such thing as a worthless artistic endeavor.
But the jerk ate my honey nut cheerios this morning so I don't have any more sympathy for him. Seriously, can you blame me for being upset? They're delicious.

Hi everyone!
Posted 16 years agoThis is our first blog, officially, at FA! We're "Paws For Effect" from NYC, and we really hope you enjoy our music. We focus on Rock/Pop/Alternative type stuff. Mostly feel good music, because seriously - who wants to listen to music just to feel bad? Not us.
We're a trio -- I'm Samantha, the drummer. Our lead singer and guitarist's name is Nick and he's the fox. Our bassist is David the drooler-- uh, I mean, the dog. ;) I'm a squirrel.
The boys are pretty lazy and I doubt they'll ever post any blogs. So you can assume that if there's something posted online regarding our band, it's ME talking... the little drummer girl.
We're just getting started here and we're working hard to record and write new music, and we'll upload it as soon as we can! Make sure you check us out at MySpace as well, and add us as a friend... www.myspace.com/pawsforeffectband
Take care everyone! Questions can be sent to our band's email address which is as follows: pawsforeffect.band (at) gmail (dot) com
Keep your ears peeled for more music soon...
