Major patreon update
Posted 7 months agoMajor update for my patreon page.
The LET system has been overhauled, and removed. It's been replaced with a system that should be simpler, since I've had a lot of people that were confused by it. Instead, most of the rewards will allow you to save up a certain amount every month for commissions, and get 30/60/90 min pics without having to wait through the queue.
A lot of the tiers have new prices too to be multiples of 5 and 10. And commission price reduction has been removed as a reward as that's basically what the wallet system already does, instead I've added reduction in price for the express queue for the higher tiers.
If you're a patreon, or interested in becoming one, I'd love to hear your thoughts on the current tiers, and if there's anything you'd be interested in seeing in that regard.

Posted 7 months agoThe commission queue is finally open again. It's still rather full however, so prices are a bit steep atm, since I don't expect to change them for the rest of the year as I'll be spending a while to go through the commissions still.

Posted 2 years agoIt's February 1'st so that means I've now been drawing for 9 years, so I wanted to give a big thanks to everyone who's stuck by in that time, and especially those who's sticking by right now. ;^)
TLDR first: Queue is closing the 8'th, let me know if you want in, after that it's still possible, but more expensive for a while. And sorry for the long waiting times I might've given you the past year.
An explanation
I've been radio silent for a while now, and I feel I owe everyone I don't chat with regularly an explanation, and if you've been following me, you might've noticed that I didn't post much art last year compared to the other years.
The reason is a mix of burn out and lack of time. 2 years ago I tried living off my art, and it didn't really result in me drawing more, rather I ended up struggling to motivate myself to draw. This lack of motivation didn't really show itself until last year, as I ended in some rather serious economical issues that I was lucky enough that some of you and my family helped me out of in the last moment by paying some commissions in advance.
But that couldn't go on forever, so January last year I got a job, which meant I could stabilize my economy again, and begin working to get my head back in the game and draw. Which gradually worked out, but I still struggled to motivate myself, and often I was too tired to work when I was done working. Due to the nature of my job however, my working hours are very flexible, so I took off every Monday to draw, which for the most part didn't happen, especially the amount of hours I wanted to draw.
Some of you know I have Asperger's, and ADD, so motivational issues is sort of a thing built into me, and worse yet, schedules has constantly been a grueling thought to me to consider.
However, you don't deserve my issues to impact you like this, and by you I mostly mean commissioners and patreons, who have a stake in what I do, and I don't deserve to watch myself burn out just because I have personal issues that I should be working harder to solve.
The Solution
Therefore, moving forwards I've made a schedule, it has been in place since the start of the new year, and I've followed it about 50% since, which is a lot better than the half assed plan I had earlier. This plan consists of me not drawing just Mondays, but Monday, Thrusday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, 2 hours each day rather than the planned 8 hours every Monday, and instead I'll work fewer hours on my job, but also work Monday. I didn't want to post about this around New Year, because I wanted to prove that it worked first, and while lot of the art I've posted in January was a backlog from the last couple of month in 2023, I can say I've been drawing a lot more this month than I did in the past few months before.
Commissions
I have a long queue, I've had that for years, and if you've noticed, I haven't changed the prices all of last year, and I won't change them this winter either, as I normally would.
What I'm going to do is close the queue by the 8'th of this month, and open it again once I have caught up to the patreon rewards and the monthly patreon pics.
This may take a while, as I'll also be clearing the commission queue as much as I can in that time, so it's only going to be semi-closed as I will likely keep it closed for the next 6~ months.
In that time, I'll only allow 2 types of commissions:
Express Commissions: At +50% price, you can get a commission and skip the queue. I'll be taking these as the extra money will help me take more days off work to draw and get things taken care of.
Patreons: If you're a patreon, I owe you this for being patient with me, you'll be free to commission me while I have my queue closed.
For my current commissioners
If you have a commission that's being worked on, or is in my queue atm and want another commission, let me know before the 8'th, and I'll make an exception for you, so you can be queued an additional time without any further requirements or anything.
Finally, Apologies
I'm not above my mistakes, and I'm way overdue on fixing the mess I've created. I intend on doing my best to fix it, and I understand if I've lost some of your respect, or if you don't wish to support me any further. To everyone, I'm sorry, that you've been waiting for art that hasn't arrived in several months, or for some of you, a whole year. I don't know exactly how long it will take until I can feel like I've dug myself out of this hole, but as long as I'm in it, it'll weigh on me, and further demotivate me.
Sorry if I've been ranting or rambling, but there's a lot to be said. If you have any questions about anything, please let me know, and if you think you have ways you think I could dig myself out of this hole faster, I'm all ears.
Anyway, if you've read all this, I just wanted to thank you again for following me through all of this, and when I'm done with this mess, I hope to begin drawing more things that interest me rather than having this big a focus on commissions, since I remain more motivated on my own ideas and I want to develop my style more.

I've come a long way, and developed a lot in that time, so here's an update for the future.
As you may have known, in the past 6 months or so, I've been trying to make a living off of my art, with varied success.
So here's what I've come to learn from it:
While it's theoretically possible, I think focusing 100% on commissions and earnings may be taking a toll on me in the long run, and may be contributing to me procrastinating when I draw. I don't wish to become burnt out, so something has to change before it's too late.
The focus on commissions has also limited my room for experimentation, possibly hindering my development as an artist as well.
Going forwards:
I will still heavily focus on commissions, but from now on also allow myself to draw more things that are for myself, things that are experimental, stylized differently, or completely different media.
To achieve this, I'll also be working a part time job on the side, meaning I might not be able to draw as much, however, I hope this will allow me to focus more when I draw as I will be more mentally stimulated from having other things to do during the day, as well as earn me more money to pay the bills so I can afford to draw other things once in a while.
Before, the goal has been to put out at least 1 artwork a week, going forwards, I'll likely aim for 1 artwork or 2 speed arts, but during February I might have a stuttering start as I'm trying to get properly started on my new part time job.
I don't wish to beg for money, nor do I want to live on the edge of eviction, so it's a necessary step to become the artist I wanna be.
TL;DR: Gonna draw a bit less due to getting a part time job, and I'll be experimenting more.
And to everyone reading this, thanks for all the support you've given me over the years, commissioners, patreons and followers, you're all there for me in your own ways. And hopefully some day I'll learn to become a proper artist, but for now I still have a lot to learn.

New goals have been added, and the current goals have been adjusted according to my new commission prices
Given my current situation, I'll appreciate any and all support more than ever, all content will remain public however and remain early access on patreon, as I don't want to keep art from those who don't have the means or don't wish to support.

Soon we'll be at 1000 and by then I expect to hold a giveaway for a lined character or something along those lines.
It's taken me almost 8 years to get to this point, by 1000 I definitely will have, so thanks everyone for getting me where I am today, after tumblr's downfall, I've never really reached the same point I did back then, and at this rate it'll take 11 more years to do so but I'll try to stay optimistic.
I hope everyone keeps enjoying and interacting with my art in the future, it means a lot to me :p

However I will be changing the prices, lowering them from a 50% discount to 70% on the base sketch, meaning color and lineart will be at the regular rate but with the 70% of the sketch price removed.
Eg. 9,6€ for a single character sketch, and 17,6€ for colored character sketch 27,6€ for lined and colored etc.

Name change
Posted 5 years agoI (mostlymlpanthroporn) have decided to change my artist name to pdude, and with that I have been making a few changes across all my media.
I have decided to do this for 2 reasons.
Firstly that mostlymlpanthroporn is a long name and can be hard to remember for anyone but my closest fans, and secondly because I wanted my name to be less associated with mlp.
I'll still draw mainly mlp related content, but I feel that by having that name I will lock myself into a niche that is slowly becomming smaller as the show has now been over for a while.
All in all, this won't mean that I'll change anything, I'm still the same artist drawing the same things.
From this point on, you'll also see my art tagged/watermarked with my new name.
Hope this will clear up any possible confusion that this has/will cause, and thanks to all of you for sticking with me and my art, you've all made me the artist I am today.
