stuff has been going down this month and it just got worse. drawing has been a legit TRIAL with all these thoughts in my head and I haven't managed to stay focused on anything more than small doodles for a while (I'm forcing myself to draw SOMETHING once a day even if it's some derpy thing I erase. it helps).
I don't think I should take commissions while my motivation is so shot monies or no monies.

SO I'm at a block concerning this thing I'm working on SO I'm taking some quick requeststo break the block.
BUT THERE IS A TWIST!!!
The request must either be:
a combination of any three words (you pick the words, I draw the pictures)
monsters! (If you want a cutesy monster girl or boy instead of a straight up monster let me know)
fanart! Of anything! be sure to give refs!
also please keep requests fairly simple. one, two characters at most.
I'm gonna pick the first 5 super interesting ones and whip 'em up tonight!
(also, 'why the rules?' you ask? because it's more fun for me. Like, I know all your characters are super cuties and everything, but I want some variety!)

sorry about my internet absence, We're riding through a bit of trouble with the internet right now (sometimes we go days with no internet and when it comes back it's here for like, a few hours) but that should be all sorted.
I'm gonna try to push out way more work that I should in the next few days because my hands are telling me it's time to LEVEL UP in art and that means pretty much irl art grinding.
Sorry I missed christmas around here, I hope everyone had good ones.
also, if anyone is close enough/cares, There's an art gallery that just opened up in murrels inlet,sc called How Bizarre that's run by a friend of mine (Jeff, the most beautiful man in the world) and I'll be showing my art there. I also might be teaching there who knows! If you live close drop on by, it's a really cool place and they even rent out art spaces (you pay a fee and they provide all your art supplies, canvas, ect. and they clean up after you when you leave. all you have to do is show up and art).

Posted 13 years agoDoes it ever make anyone else feel weird to draw stuff for yourself when you're doing commissions? Lately I've found that the best way to fight art block is to put down a commission piece when my eye starts to twitch and doodle something fun for myself for an hour or two. A part of my brain knows that this is healthy because I have art add and if I don't switch out sometimes the piece declines in quality A LOT because it stops being fun. But another part of my brain says 'WHAT ARE YOU DOING GET BACK TO WORK OH MY GOD HOW COULD YOU'.
is this weird or is this within the normal bounds of artist self-hate?

Posted 14 years agosorry for lack of arts, I've been drawing but it's been slow because weird stomach viruses (feel okay for a few hours and then it feels like I get possessed by the wrathful ghost of feeling shitty what is this). I've got a lot of commissions almost done and some doodles to post later tonight, right now I'm just getting used to walking around without vertigo. woo.

Posted 14 years agothis journal is more to keep my commission line in order but also to tell a hilarious story.
So yesterday I was in my room internetin' when all of a sudden I hear a loud 'eeeeeeew!' coming from my parent's room. Now my dad just got a phone with internet capabilities so this was a bad sign. Sure enough a minute later my mom comes in and says "omg look what your father saw on the internet!" and shoves the phone in my face.
on the screen was a picture of a tattoo on a dudes back of two guys having intense buttsex.
what.
So she laughs and of course runs off to show MY LITTLE BROTHER (don't worry, he's too old to be really horrified) while my dad makes jokes about the dude telling his girlfriend it's abstract art.
all I hear from my brother's room is a chuckle and 'aw come on dawg how will you ever go to the beach' because my family just doesn't give a shit about dicks.
at least it's better than the time my mom showed my sisters and I blue waffle and said "SEE! and THATS why the first date should be to the clinic!"

also there are black widows in the spare room.
house why.
also my cat made a nest out of my covers and it is so cold and she won't move.

I say.
It's less than two weeks till my birthday maybe I can get it fixed before then so I can have cake and also not die of infection. That would be nice.
Just thought all you nice people would like to know this random info.
I think I'm gonna doodle cute lady-monsters for a bit and not flip out.
ps In other news my mom got me some nice warm pj's for an early birthday gift! Super awesome <3

Posted 14 years agoAlright guys sorry this is a little late but I was too bust having Halloween fun to post the results earlier. We made a swirly rainbow cake and watched the fabulous horror that is my youtube favorites (speaking of which http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-tYi.....;feature=feedf ).
but anyway RESULTS:
1st place goes to uaykan for her beautiful boy White Noise http://www.furaffinity.net/view/6756470 White noise is an awesome pony with a great original design and a neat personality. His story is well thought out and his color scheme is beautiful and goes with his motif perfectly. Plus ears are one of those body parts that you don't usually think are weird until you actually think about them.
2nd place goes to mausc for Reality Smash http://www.furaffinity.net/view/6745221 a wonderful Dali inspired pony that combines my love of the unsettling notion of the very realness of the world becoming wrong somehow and empty haunting eyes. And friendship.
3rd place goes to
pandoradragon for her twins http://www.furaffinity.net/view/6732905 Whom don't have names but do have a LOT of charm. They're just really darling and their horns are just great, especially the chest horn. genius.

I haven't really drawn...anything...in a few months.

to tell the truth I kind of started to hate my art a lot and ran from the internet. There is no real reason why I did this I just did and it was stupid.
All summer I did basically nothing but work and hate my hands.
But for some reason I started drawing again and oh my god guys I am drawing so much holy crap. I am like art backed up it is crazy and I just want to draw all the lines and color all the colors.
I should have come back at least 2 weeks ago but I figured that everyone un-watched me and thought I was a butt for never ever posting ever and also I had unfinished commissions and there was just this intense EMBARRASSMENT guys.

Posted 14 years agoso I got a new computer yesterday on account of my last one had so many problems that when I took it to the best buy service center to be sent off and fixed they didn't have enough room in their comment log to fit all of the horrible things about it (the dude actually thought this was funny). this new one is awesome and I love it. I just love it so much my god it doesn't burn me or freeze or refuse to turn on I just can't even express my joy.
but of course there is one huge problem.
I had forgotten that the only reason I HAD art programs on that old satan machine was that they came with the tablet it destroyed. SO now I have no way to make the digital arts without paying a million dollars (I had seriously never really looked at the prices for these things before my goodness). Now I know one of you classy people out there must know some good freeware or something that's at least as good as painter essentials 3. I don't require much, and to tell the truth I lean towards things that feel like natural media than photoshop-clean lines (if I could have both it would be magical though). I've been searching all today for a solution and the only thing I really saw was artrage (I used it a while back and it was okay. I don't know if it had the delicious layers I've grown accustomed to though so I don't know). most of the reviews I saw were mainly about design and photo editing and what I think of as 'sharp' illustration whereas my style is more a pleasingly loose mistake type of thing and I don't know how to compare what I'm seeing with what I'll be using it for and HELP.

Posted 15 years agookay so it's actually so cold in my house that with a little help from my bro and a virgin sacrifice I was able to get my computer up and running without it getting so hot it shuts itself down. I still don't have a tablet because when my computer went down last time it took it with it.
now my first priority is to get everyone their commissions so if I don't have your address send it and if you had something digital and you didn't get it before the breakdown tell me and if you're mad at me and don't want to be my friend anymore I understand :c
basically just bother me until you get what you want.
now a small breakdown of what happened during the dark days:
I had two jobs for a while, One at victoria's secret and the other at Magiquest. I quit the VS job because of sucky hours and horrible ladies and perfume induced asthma attacks and am now a part time witch. This is not a joke, I go to work every day in a huge black lace dress and teach kids how to cast spells at digital monsters on giant screens inside a huge maze/playplace. this is the same place of work that staged a nerf war/ videogame tournament at the end of summer for all the employees and has regular delicious cookouts. I kind of love it.
I passed out a few times and it was found that I had severe anemia. when they tested my blood it was basically water. I enjoyed several weeks of throwing up iron pills and birth control until that calmed down.
my car is dead for good. rip Harvey, you were awesome.
my uncle got married to non-crazy lady.
I went to two cons, AWA and X-Con. AWA I did okay and it was pretty fun, I got to meet the dude who did the opening animation for Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends and the dude who draws Boxer Hockey (he drew me a tiny fat batman Rittz!). Also a few fine fellows from this very site! X-Con gave me the chance to talk to Bob Camp (OMG he sat a few seats down from me and talked to me and gave me candy and he liked my work! He said it reminded him of Vaughn Bode and I almost had a fit because he was so cool like a nice grandpa who laughs at fart jokes).
my sister moved back home.
both our washing machine and stove broke in the same week and we don't have the money to fix them so we've been living little house on the prairie style for a few days now. This is not the first time we've had to do this. I hate this house so much. HATE.
I saw a man poop in a ditch one night driving home with a friend. We had just come home from a bowling alley where we had delivered homemade strawberry zombie cupcakes to a friend for his birthday. Oh how we laughed.
My bestest friend since I was 10 years old, Xena, the dachshund-terrier mutt of awesomeness died suddenly on the morning of August 31st. The vet believes it was a brain tumor and there was nothing we could do. I broke down on the floor of the office and basically offered the vet everything I owned to fix her. She had slipped into some kind of waking coma. I am starting to cry a little I don't think I really want to say anymore about this.
so that's what's been going on. for everyone who didn't un-watch me, thank you. I'll try to art it up more. 2010 has just not been my year.

Posted 15 years agomy computer is broken (sent it off a while ago, got it back and then had to send it back didn't think it would take MONTHS) and the only other computer around here right now literally takes 30 minutes to upload any one thing. and it may not work anyway. and it's just so slow it makes me furious. I'm on my sister's laptop right now but just letting everyone who I owe a commission to that I'm really really sorry for the crazy delay. expect surprise treats when you get your stuff. hopefully I'll have access to a scanner and workable computer next week. again, sorry for all the trouble, I feel like a turd for making you guys wait to long.

If you want your commission all costume monstery and weird (kinda like http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3007618/) just ask and we'll talk about it. it's a little more difficult because there's more parts to it that I have to personally design, so I'm going on a case by case basis with these. they're probably not gonna be less that 15 bucks though unless you want a chibi one.

If you want your commission all costume monstery and weird (kinda like http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3007618/) just ask and we'll talk about it. it's a little more difficult because there's more parts to it that I have to personally design, so I'm going on a case by case basis with these. they're probably not gonna be less that 15 bucks though unless you want a chibi one.
NOTES
if there is anything else you would fancy that is not on the list, please do not hesitate to ask. I will try to work something out for you. Also, when you send your refs don't worry about them being too long or anything, the more information about your character the better. for keychains and icons please specify if you want them regular or all cutesy chibi like.

back from internets vacation...
Posted 15 years agothat I didn't tell anyone I was going on because I didn't know myself. There was a crazy art block and some stuff happened.
pretty much we've been having some money problems, and even though my unemployment has started coming in it hasn't helped enough. lets just say that time was better spent offline and in the outside world for the last month fighting for jobs and doing a lot of footwork, home time was mostly sleep time. It payed off though, I got a job part time at Victoria's Secret (wtf).
besides the job hunt, I've been readying myself for Anime Weekend Atlanta this year. I know it's early but I need to get prints, buttons, and stickers ready, not to mention I've started a new sewing project (I taught myself how to make tiny fat dragons, I'll post one the next time I get my hands on a camera). I have very little money and asking my parents is ABSOLUTELY out of the question (they would gladly help but they are already paying college stuff for my sisters and the bills are so high and asking them for anything makes me hate myself on account of they've been so great during my jobless times. I even patched things up with my dad). I also have to build a stand for my awa table on account of I think pvc pipes are ugly and I'm gonna need the table space for my sewn together critters so I'm gonna have to hang my 2D work. Since my table will be named Frown Town (long story) I'm thinking of making it look like I'm in a little house or broken down castle IDK. I just hope whatever I make doesn't fall down and kill me.
other than that I've been busy with EVEN MORE STUFF.

Posted 15 years agoin and hour and a half at 8 o'clock I"m gonna be putting up a trade journal. just putting up this warning because last time there were a lot of people who kept missing it so I'm giving everyone a fighting chance. not sure on how many I'll take, but I feel like drawin'. probably 5 to 10 spots. interesting/kooky characters and concepts prefeeeeeeerred.
